Deric's swing hits with such force that legs splatter in every direction, several of them pelting the other two spiders, who suddenly seem uncertain.

They climb toward the ceiling and bolt down the hallway.

Paëral moves 5’ SW and fires first at the wounded spider and, if it drops, the second goes a #4...

Deric draws his dagger and dissects spider #9 looking for a liver to draw the poison from Squint's wound. "Things don't even have a liver. Unnatural they are."

”Am I dying??” Squint calls out melodramatically.

"You will not die as long as I still may take a breath. Barkot is right. We should use the fountain. Magic seems to reset daily or have times per day for stuff. This fountain may be like that. Sorry about these things not having livers. Could have helped you, little one." Deric throws the parts to the ground, stows his dagger and draws his greateaxe.

Barkot pulls out his healing wand and offers it to Squint and Ulyi. "Won't help the poison none, but least we c'n close up yer wounds."

Barkot will cast cure light wounds from the wand on each of Squint and Ulyi if they'd like him to. Just roll the 1d8+1 yourself as needed and I'll mark off the charges used. Reillana, you'll use your own?

Squint Healing (from Barkot): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Squint will use his adaptable luck before this next roll for a +3 bonus.

”Am I dying??” Squint calls out melodramatically.

This roll was a success, so the other roll was not needed.

Checking out the rest of the cell block shows all of the cells to be apparently empty.

Do you intend to return to the fountain to drink or drink some of the water that was carried away? (I recall Squint filling a vial, and I think Barkot filled up a waterskin).

Squint would like to try the vial of water that he took from the fountain. If that does not work, then he would insist upon returning to the fountain.

Barkot offers his waterskin to Reillana.

The water does appear to have retained its curative properties. Squint and Reillana's strengths are restored. In addition, Reillana's spider bite heals itself.

Squint's vial is empty. I'll sat that Barkot's waterskin has another 7 swigs in it.

Taking a long swig from the waterskin, Reillana sighs in relief as her injuries are assuaged.

"Thank you, Barkot," she says as she hands the waterskin back, studying the rows of cells. "Where to next?"

Testing his theory, Deric will taste the water expecting no effects.

Just like the second time he took a drink from the pool, Deric receives no benefit.

"Confirmed, all. The water will benefit you once per day. Or, once per lifetime."

"Wow!" Squint says, refreshed. "I need to get more of that before we leave this place!"

He looks around at the plethora of dead spider carcasses and shivers reflexively.

"Speaking of which, could we leave this place? Now?"

Deric retrieves his spear.

Ulyi looks about for tasty bits of spider left behind.

Perception Check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Paëral asks, ”Shall we head back to the web room and head down the eastern passage I was scouting?”

"Sounds good to me, Paeral. Anyone have a better plan?"

"Yes, let's get out of this place," Squint says, trying to hurry Ulyi from any further morsels.

Barkot nods in response to Paëral and shakes his head in response to Deric and Squint.

"Nah, checkin' out da east tunnel soun's as good as anyways ta go next. Squint, d'ya really wanna leave already? We ain't found da next Dingus piece yet, an' we don' even really know what da little blue King sen' us down here ta find."

Barkot looks down, sighs, and starts wiping spider guts off of his boot. "Unless ol' Sticky Legs was one a' dese guys."

Nodding to Barkot, Paëral will keep his bow drawn and quietly lead the way to where he was before (in the east passage from the web room) and a bit beyond...

Gathering together, the party heads back through the now unwebby hall, and proceeds through the eastern corridor.

Reaching the intersection, Paeral sees that the eastern branch opens up into a larger room with some kind of metal device standing against the wall just to the north. He doesn't have a good enough angle to tell what it is from his current position.

The southern branch extends as far as his vision allows.

As they pass the fountain, Deric retrieves his waterskin from the fighter's kit and fills it.

Squint does the same as Deric as they pass the fountain, refilling a vial with the restorative waters.

"N-n-no, Barkot," Squint protests with a stutter. "I don't want to leave the Crow; I just want to get out of the lair of all these spiders!"

"I agree with Squint, I'm in no mood to have some human sniffing at my performance of my duties, no matter what rank she holds. We stay until the job is complete."

Reillana checks her gear and and renews her Light spell, and follows in the direction Paëral went.

Once again Reillana mirrors Deric's thoughts. This elf....

The room opens up into a wide half circle. Giant brick ovens have been built into the curved wall, and fire pits with multiple spits are set nearby.

Another passage heads south from the room.

Paeral notices a rustling sound coming from the direction of the easternmost oven.

Paëral's spider senses go off as he feels his hackles rise and he brings up his bow, pointing it towards the rustling sound...

"'Ware the oven to the east! Something moves there..."

Nice setting for Halloween!

Barkot nods at Squint and Reillana, and checks his gear before the group moves back out. He keeps his longsword drawn and ready as the Pathfinders make their way through the tunnel.

At Paëral's warning, he stops and looks around the room, a glum expression on his face.

"Anybody else thinkin' 'bout old fairy-stories alla da sudden? Like dose stories 'bout dem witches up in Irrisen?"

"As long as it isn't a spider, I'm not scared," Squint mutters.

"I beg to differ," Ulyi fires off. "You're sitting on me, remember? I can tell when you're scared, unfortunately."

"I'm ignoring you."

Ready lance.

Deric double moves to get a better look.

In between now and then you have been using a two-handed weapon, with no mention of setting it down/picking it up... However, I will allow you to have a lit torch (or be handed one by Barkot perhaps).

So, Light is not an issue. Paeral and Squint have already voiced a desire to hang back. I can assume that Barkot and Reillana are hanging back as well.

After 1 round of motion, Deric is not yet able to see the oven that Paeral mentioned, but he does hear the rustling noise and can move in that direction, if he desires.

The mushroom shaped alcove to the far east of the room is where the noise is coming from. The people with darkvision, and Reillana can make out the oven itself, but don't see anything inside of it.

Deric, torch in one hand, moves closer to the sound. Greataxe in primary.

I can be more specific with the torch, if you prefer.

Deric can see the basic shape of the oven and its contents. There does not appear to be anything inside of the oven.

"Squint, can you call for stinky legs to come to you in that language you use?"

”Ummm....Ikkki! Ikkkkkkki! Lik mikka-I!”

The party calls out and waits. There is no immediate response.

Barkot moves further into the room, popping a wand out of one of his wrist sheaths once he gets about halfway between Deric and the rest of the group, he stage-whispers, "I t'ink now'd be a good time fer us ta call on Soralyon's blessin's."

Barkot activates his wand to cast Bless on the party. (+1 morale bonus to attack rolls and saving throws against fear effects for one minute. I keep forgetting Barkot has this wand.)

Deric carefully sets his torch on the ground and moves away from it. Greataxe still in primary hand, he covers his mouth and does his best to imitate a wounded piglet.
