GM Bold Strider, just a couple logistical questions. First of all, are you using the 4-character adjustments for the encounters? Since our APL is only 2.5, we should be using the 4 character encounters in the 4-5 tier. If you are, just ignore this. I'm just getting smacked around and if I die I at least want it to be legit. ;-)

Second--how many guys are near the fire? In the recap it says 3, but 4 guys made attacks against us.

Third--am I able to use the fire (even though I'm only 5 ft stepping) to keep the battle axe guys from surrounding me? I'm trying to generate some AoOs.

So I think we've put on a decent enough show with many of us in danger of getting killed. I think we should focus our attacks on the bandits near us with the battleaxes and kill them. Then the ones with the scepter can get away. I don't think we should use any more actions on them (#7 and #8), since we want them to escape anyway.


1) Four player adjustments don't exist in Seasons 0-3, if I am remembering correctly. This scenario definitively does not have 4 player adjustments.

2) There were six bandits left. Two with the scepter. Four at the fire. One with scepter fled to the edge of the battle. One turned to face the Agents. Jhon and Kenji were the two next to the scepter, so one attack against them. Three left at fire to attack the remainder of the party. Thus four attacks. At end of turn, Agents cut down a bandit, leaving three men at the fire.

3) They aren't really surrounding you, just fighting the highest level characters. :D You can move to gain advantage or AoOs, however no one else is moving so I doubt you will get many.

Thanks, that helps clarify things a lot! I missed that our allies dropped one and I was confused.

Man, no 4 player adjustments? Having read through the whole thing, do you think we'll be ok going forward? I mean, I'm a Level 3 raging bloodrager with a shawl of lifekeeping and I was almost dropped in the first encounter(and still might be). I'm worried about my own survival, but even more so about Mumbly and Kenji.

We might have to let some of the Thakur's men take point, LoL.


It's going to hurt, but you guys aren't focusing down bad guys, which would have helped in this fight.

Knowing how many damage has every bandit will help a little in grouping damage ;D

I agree, that's why I said we should not attack the ones with the scepter anymore. They're already hurt, so they should have incentive to run.

As for the other ones--they can flee at any time. But if they keep hacking me with axes, I'm going to fight back. :-)

GM Bold Strider, what are your thoughts about jumping as part of a charge? I've seen people rule either way. I promise I won't argue your decision, just want to know ;-)

Also, what would you say is the DC from jumping from the square three squares above Jhon to Jhon's square? There's a whole giant thread on what that Acro DC should be. Can I occupy his square when he's prone and dying?


I think it takes an Acrobatics square, but should still work. I think that the gap is (# of squares in the gap + 1) * 5 for the Acrobatics DC. You can occupy his square until he pops back up as he is unconscious and unconscious people don't "occupy" squares.

GM Bold Strider, since we're playing up, do we get the Tier 4-5 items unlocked even if we're lower than 4th or 5th level? I know I'll get out of subtier gold, but I didn't know what the rule was for items.


You get the items for high tier and everyone except Ragnar will get Out-of-Tier Gold.

I'm going to check off on my faction journal card that I traveled to Jalmeray (can check this off and another box) and that I "defeated one or more members of the Aspis Consortium in an encounter whose Challenge Rating is at least equal to your character level".

If I'm wrong about the second one please let me know and I'll instead check off that I completed 3 consecutive with both primary and secondary goals.

Umm... they aren't technically members of the Aspis Consortium. They are just local bandits that do jobs for the Aspis on occasion.
