Question for DMBS and my fellow dragon victims: is running for it a viable option, getting the heck out of here and scattering like rodents? I don't have a sense what things are like immediately outside the dragon's lair, if we'd just be on an open plain of doom or if there's a chance of some cover. I'm also not sure we could even outrun him long enough to get outside before we're in combat.
But we're wounded, many buffs are gone, and he's ready to play so, as much as I want to wrap up this final fight, we should consider all options here. Maybe our druid friend can give us all helpful abilities and we'll triumph over adversity! Maybe.

Ah, yes, thanks for the painful reminder. I guess our fate is sealed.
Alrik Hero of Yanmass |
So out of curiousity... we went up there with the intent of killing a dragon and once it finally pops up your first reactio is to run?
Note that Alrik will not tolerate this type of behaviour and his auro of courage grants you +4 versus fear.
Lukas Kains |
As I said, just basing my thinking on our current situation: all but one of us are wounded, some badly, and one is unconscious; our protection spells are not applied to all of us; some of our best buffs have been used up; and we're facing a dragon.
So I raised the notion of fleeing, which is now moot because we'd never get out of here. So we fight, and maybe don't die. I'm not trying to be wimpy, I enjoy a nail-biting close fight quite a lot - but these are pretty rough odds.

Random thread on bane stacking.
I defer to a GM call here.
Will start using arrows next round even if they don't stack, since he's not likely to see any other dragons in his career.

Well right now I'm super excited. I think this is the longest game I have ever been able to complete in a PbP and of the original 6 participants 6 made it to the end. I think that's quite an achievement and you Mr. Strider deserve a heavy pat on the shoulder for guiding us through the rough patches!
Even if we had a few problems I still think this was a really cool adventure. A bit heavy on combat but that's all good in my book!
Oh and the PFS number
PFS#37010-11
Now I get to build a new character from level 5. That's really something. Have a number of concepts to choose from but currently can't decide which one it shall be...
Lukas Kains |
Wow! Not only did we not die, we completed the module!
Thanks very much, Bold Strider, for getting us through it. As Alrik says, it was a long one with some rough patches, but I had a lot of fun with it.
As I understand it, we're supposed to apply this to a new PFS number, right? Assuming that's the case, I'll put it on 80015-14.
Thanks for your patience, everyone, as I conducted my little experiment with the unchained monk. Still pondering how I feel about it, but I had fun playing with you all!
Sarasha |
Wow, I feel drained, like I just helped slay a dragon or something. :-)
Thanks, Bold Strider, for shepherding us through it. Well done, bravo! 10/10 would have you try to kill me again.
Can you summarize the options for using Chronicles for this? Does it have to be a new character? Can it be multiple characters?
Thanks!
Sarasha |
I don't recall whether us newbies who joined halfway through get partial or full Chronicle credit. Assuming so for the sake of argument, and I seem to recall that from the recruitment pitch.
Chron 1: PFS# 106336-6 Xichikitte
Chron 2: PFS# 106336-6 Xichikitte
Chron 3: PFS# 106336-6 Xichikitte
Bonus: PFS# 106336-4 Jinhong Yeou
In any case, whichever of the Chrons I'm entitled to would go to those characters.
Fantastic adventure! Thanks again!

I'm pondering what to do with a Grippli as well. My first thought was an archer hunter, now I'm leaning towards a cleric, as I don't play a lot of straight spellcasters. With their Wisdom bump, plus small size and Dex, they can cast from the back and be pretty safe. Haven't begun to think about what god I'd worship.

Anuum
PFS #- 95737-23
All four of the chronicles can go towards him.
Thanks for the great run GM Bold!
GM Bold Strider |
Glad that everyone seems to have had fun!
@Sarasha/Caro: I know of these rules (at least back when I first played it). 1) You get three chronicles; 2) If you apply all three chronicles to the same character, then you get the bonus chronicle to apply to that character; thus 3) You cannot split your bonus chronicle to another character.
@Lukas: You don't have to apply the chronicles to a level 1, but I recommend between 1-3 to get them all on the same character.
Summary:
Alrik - 37010-11
Tessa - 95737-23
Sarasha - 106336-6
Katja - 63386-26
Lukas - 80015-14(?)
Cobb - ?
Sarasha |
Ah, thanks for the refinement. You've chosen correctly.
Lukas Kains |
Bold Strider - I'll stick with that number, and add a question: is it possible to get these chronicles applied on slow track? Not sure how the level breaks would work in that case. If it doesn't work out, go ahead and apply them at normal speed to my -14 and I'll apply them at the appropriate levels.
Cobb |
Thanks for allowing Cobb to journey along with you guys.
As with all Bold Strider games, this one was a nail biter at times ~ it's always more fun when it's a challenge.
I'll go ahead and toss the credit onto 15208-17.
GM Bold Strider |
@Lukas: The slow track just means that for any levels that the module chronicles apply for, you need another module or three scenarios to level up.
E.g. - Level 1 will be 1.5 XP and you need 3 scenarios to hit 2, which give you another 1.5 XP to send you to 3. The level breaks are the same, but you need a ton more stuff to hit mid levels. Still want slow track? (You can always slow track @ 4 or higher to skip the boring early levels! :D)
Lukas Kains |
I'll go with normal advancement speed, thanks.

Your characters are now all part of the Bold Striders! Make sure to add that to their name! ;-)
Also, I'm glad that you enjoyed the challenge. I had to increase the deadliness of the fights (to account for the extra players) except for the mummy and the dragon. Those were by the book and extremely deadly. So, good job!
Tessa Firebrand |
Great game and thanks again! That mummy and dragon were terrifying!
