GM Batpony |
Please do not post on this page unless you have been chosen, I will be running a recruitment through flaxseed, alternatively you may look out for the recruitment tab. This game will be catering to folks new to PFS and PBP! Thus it will be a tier 1-2 game.
Welcome to PFS and PBP!
This is the discussion thread where you can chat about matters related to the game. The actual game will happen on the gameplay thread that you can find in one of the tabs above this.
If you haven't yet, do take time to read my profile by clicking on my name, as it gives you a good expectation of what to expect and what I expect in a game.
Before we start, I'll need some information pertaining to your character for reporting purposes, so please post the relevant information below in this thread.
Name:
PFS ID and #: eg. 123456-7
Character name and level:
Faction:
Day job roll:
Some things that you should have for PBP:
You should upload a character sheet for your character in it's profile. This is for GM's to do any verifications, plus since we've a lot of new folks, I'd like to do a quick run through as well to ensure it's all in order. :)
Here is a link to my character to illustrate an example. It need not be in the same format as mine, but ensure the relevant details are there or at least linked!
Batpony's Character.
Another item that you should have on your character is a quick reference header, you'll notice that in a lot of PBP characters. It should include at minimum your race classes, levels, HP, ACs and CMD, Saves, Perception, Initiative. Do include other things you think might be useful for GMs to note. I'll post an example shortly!
If any of that already confuses you! Do ask question. I'm here to help!
Also do visit GM Lithrac's profile page for some useful links for PBP!
General black text is to describe what is happening in game.
"Bolded text, typically depict speech"
Italics are for internal monologues or thoughts your character might have
Blue text is for "Out of Character" stuff. Maybe you need a clarification, or a question...etc. But is not directly part of the game/character interaction
First of all, don't worry so much about getting it right the first time! I will guide you as much as I can through the game, and the most important thing of all is to have fun!

Craft Jewelry: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
Please note I made some minor changes, swapping Craft (jewelry) in for Knowledge (Planes) and removing 1 vial of acid so I could afford a set of Masterwork Artisan's tools. I think that is permissible at this point, but if not please let me know :)
Thanks for running!
GM Batpony |
@Morallo, that should be fine.
We're waiting for one more player to check in, in the meantime I've opened up the gameplay thread, so hop on over and make your character introductions when you can! Once everyone has checked in there we'll get this game started.
The Overcompensating Diplomat |
@The Overcompensating Diplomat, out of interest how does Alertness get you +2 to diplomacy? Is it some sort of familiar archetype thing? An astonishing diplomacy score BTW!
Its a typo when filling out my character sheet. It is still +23 diplomacy:
1 Rank
3 Class Skill
5 CHA Mod
2 Enhancement
2 Trait
10 Untyped Bonus (Familiar, feats, such)....
The Overcompensating Diplomat |
And probably +25 a lot of the time if your Finch aides another, since it can speak, nice.
Yes, I can basically auto-succeed at any diplomacy check. BUT, for right now I am VERY bad at combat, and, in the future mediocre at best. Very much a single ability person.
GM Batpony |
Hey Diplomat, I noticed that you have listed your prepared spells on your character sheet. It would probably good for you to do so for clarity before we head into any combat :)
Cornelius "cork" Dornbirk |
Just wanted to make sure that Cork isn't coming across too harshly.
Morallo, Cork is responding to your low CHA (but of course Cork doesn't know about ability scores). I hope that you (the player, not the character) are not taking it personally.
Morallo Thrane |
Absolutely not, I love a little bit of friction, and think it is especially good if players make comments like that to ensure there are no real life irritations. Hence my own apologies and mentions of his low charisma :)
On another note I have the first character boon thing do I just take the item? Or is there something special I need to do? I was going to go with the elixir version.

Done, plus replied to your posts.

Day job roll: Craft Alchemy + Crafter's Fortune: 1d20 + 13 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 13 + 5 = 23
Sorry I haven't posted in gameplay yet, I'm still catching up on the past posts before I do. It's been an enjoyable read so far, well done.
GM Batpony |
We're somewhat close to a wrap! Thanks for bearing with me this far, hopefully it was a decent experience on your ends!
This should have at least given you a taste of how pathfinder society scenario plays out through this medium. It wasn't written with PBP in mind so you can imagine that some parts probably might play differently on a table, but the gist of it is still there. And sometimes I take the liberty of 'fast forwarding' so the scenario doesn't drag unnecessarily.
You'll also find that each table will have a varying style due to GM and player make up, so don't think one experience is the same for all. But most people will find preferences and stick towards what's best for them.
If you do have questions or feedback, shoot away! And I hope most of you continue the society experience with us on flaxseed after I round up the scenario with your chronicles!
GM Batpony |
I will be on a worktrip Tuesday to Thursday. I will unlikely to be able to provide scenario updates but I still intend to start us on combat by Monday. (Malaysia timezone so might be Sunday still for most.)

Not this thread Caelhal! The new thread will be up next week.
GM Batpony |
I'm thinking of using Cork in another game that will be starting as early as the end of next week. Is there a chance that we'll be done with this game by then?
We'll wrap up in 24 hours! :)

Your Chronicles for this adventure are uploaded here! For those new to the hobby, let me know if you need help understanding what/how chronicles work.
Also, do check that all the information is correct, if any corrections required, do let me know. I will be closing this thread in a couple days.
For those interested in what the possible chronicle boons are:
1. Going into debt to Grandmaster Torch
2. Scarab Sage Faction Related
3. Doru related
Dale the Sage |
Awesome thanks. Info looks good on my end.
Dale will be checking this Faction Goal, Season 9:
Recover a named minor artifact or major artifact during the course of an adventure.
You mentioned we found that gem and it was a minor artifact correct?

While it does not explicitly detail in the scenario text whether it is minor or major, it is definitely an artefact. And based on it's history through a few other Scarab Sage scenarios, I would consider it major!
