Congratulations, GMBPC! Maybe you can get it done at a con? I know you went to GenCon at least once!
That, by the way, is where I'll be at the end of the month.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Not this year. It'll be next year at the soonest I'll be at GenCon. Although I wonder if a VO is in a PbP counts.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Everyone should have chronicles, please let me know if you didn't!
Likewise, would you be up for another module Twigg?
Also, for modules, the two options are
Cult of the Ebon Destroyer
No Response from Deepmar
Please let me know if you can play either of those, thanks!
Amarthecthel |
I can play either, Kemosabe. Since I don't know much about either one, I express no preference.
Pelkin Norwind |
I think I can play both as well as long as a 9th level PC can play it.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
They are both level 8 modules, so 7-9 range.

GM BPChocobo TK1 |
So, methinks we lost Twigg for good good, which is lamentable since he filled a very useful role for the party.
I'll purchase the module tonight and get this started soon, but if anyone knows a level 7-9 person or two that wants in, I'll take your suggestions before I ask my people :)
Pelkin Norwind |
Aw, man. I was hoping he'd stay.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Yeah, I'll email Twigg once more just to see if we can keep him.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Not at all! The first portion is mostly RP stuff so we can take our times with that.
On that note... I have a bunch of modules, enough to hit level 12 :)
Lastly, glad to have you and Mexel again!
Pelkin Norwind |
No worries, starting Saturday I will have no internet for a week as I'll be on a cruise vacation. Its OK though, Pelkin isn't really the RP type.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Ahh but this'll be interesting. I'll otherwise say you are people watching and not interacting with others much, simply enjoying the travel blessed by Desna.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Also, enjoy your cruise!
After returning from the River Kingdoms, Ambrus Valsin looks over your notes. "Interesting; we have another team checking out another ruin in that region, the Emerald Spire, that may have some ties to Thornkeep. Your notes should prove to be useful in identifying Nhur Athemon's magics."
Neatly shuffling the papers, Ambrus invites you to sit down. "We'll be sending you on another away mission, this time to Jalmeray."
Jalmeray is a jungle island that is part of Vudra. The warm waters of the Obari Ocean gives Jalmeray an exotic, natural beauty. Martial arts, worship of Irori and other exotic deities, and genies are prevalent in the country.
However, the climate of Jalmeray can be varied, with the capital cooler and occasionally snowy while lush rainforests exist only a few hundred miles away.
"The current Thakur of Jalmeray, Kharswan, has requested assistance dealing with a cult lurking in their realm. In exchange for access to several remote temples, we are to send in a team to root out the cult that has now threatened to assassinate the Thakur Kharswan."
"Do you have any questions before departing?", Ambrus asks sternly.
Pelkin Norwind |
How do we know that this cult is planning an assassination? Do we have any other contacts in the area?
Eventually I'll update my header to show Pelkin is 9th level.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
"You'd have to ask the Thakur for the specifics, but the threats occurred after he outlawed worship of Dhalavi, an evil Vudrani goddess."
Answering the second question, Valsin continues. "Lord Raheem Pandisar is the one who reached out to us. He is a member of the Maurya-Rahm, the council that guides the Thakur in ruling Jalmeray."
Amarthecthel |
"Is slaughter our mission, then? Assassinate the assassins?" asks Amarthecthel. "I'd need more to go on than that. But this evil goddess interests me and some of my friends from the Crusade."
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
"I would not be surprised if that is the case, Amarthecthel.", Ambrus replies. "The Thakur may have more details on how he wants it handled, but it sounds like the cult has embedded itself deeply into Jalmeray and surgical precision may be needed."
Amarthecthel |
"Hmmm..." Amarthecthel thought deeply, then shrugged. "We'll have to see what it's like when we get there, I suppose. How are we getting there?"
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
"The Thakur has commissioned a trading vessel to take you to Niswan, the capital of Jalmeray. By the time you arrive, Yolarati, the Vudrani Festival of Colors will be underway. This should provide you with some cover as part of the influx of tourists. I understand if you want to observe part of the week-long event, but you should make your way to seek Lord Pandisar before the festival ends."
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
"Similar enough, although it's more of a figurehead position. The Thakur can make laws, but it is the large families of Jalmeray hold the most power."
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
And that you shall have.... update tomorrow!

If there is any specific gear or items you wish to purchase you can retcon it before leaving Absalom.
The boat ride to Jalmeray is smooth, the calm waters creating a surprisingly relaxing trip to Niswan. When the boat docks after its journey, the Festival of Colors is already underway. The locals are wearing formerly white robes that are covered in a myriad of colored dye. Their tanned faces are splashed with a variety of powders as they shout joyful blessings at each other.
Dyes: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Dyes: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Both of the elf-bloods are near immediate targets of this joyous ritual, a quick smear of blue and yellow powder covering their smooth faces before shouting, "Namaste!".
The air is heady with the scent of fragrant flowers mixed with mouth-watering aromas from spiced shish, vegetable curries, and tandoori grilled meat. Large mugs of chilled thandi, a local sweet tea beverage, are available to wash down the exotic food.
The first day, the party comes across a wrestling arena, men and women betting on their local heroes whose faces are painted as a mask for their home region, a barker calling out in Vudrani, then Common, for those willing to step into the ring against these muscled men.
Who dares step into the ring? This will involve a number of grapple checks that I will describe in more detail if there are any takers :)
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
The barker looks at the little gnome and then back at the next wrestler, a 7-foot man that weighs probably 300 lbs. in muscle and fat equally. "You want in, little one?", the barker asks perplexed.
Amarthecthel |
"Show him who's boss, Twigg!" cries Amarthecthel, taking in the bright colors and chaotic scene.
Pelkin Norwind |
Just getting caught up now that I've returned from vacation.
Pelkin tries to hide a smile as the gnome decides to take on the rather massive opponent. This should be good.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Upon Twigg's acceptance, two attendants begin to pain the gnome's face green and white. A third coats his torso and arms with sweet scented oil. The announcer then motions him forward, asking for his name. "Ladies and gentlemen! In a true Divos and Goliath standing, we light versus might! On this end, weighing 310 lbs and with a 6-0-1 record, the Diwali Dynamo!" The crowd cheers and the muscular man pumps his fist into the air. "And on the other side, here to prove that big things come in small packages, Twigg of Variiiiiisia!" The cheer is still equally loud, although it includes several comical laughs.
"Alright, little man, let's have fun, no?", Dynamo offering to shake Twigg's hand before the announcer calls out. "I want a good clean fight! Let's get it on!"
Dynamo: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Twigg: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
The hulking man walks up to Twigg, moving much faster than the gnome expected.
Grapple @Twigg: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
He nabs one of Twigg's arms almost immediately!
Twigg, you're up!
Amarthecthel |
Amarthecthel is nearly in tears from laughter, but keeps a sharp eye out lest Twigg need an actual rescue. He's fond of the little gnome and doesn't want him injured.
"You've got him on the ropes, Twigg! I don't think he suspects a thing!"
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Twigg fails around while squawking, the larger man laughing at the gnome. "You fellas fight funny, yes!", now taking the gnome as he rolls and pin him with his oversized gut.
Grapple to pin: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
"Squeel, little one!", as Twigg is stuck under the big man!

Twigg squeeks something before Diwahli Dynamo goes for his signature move: 'the Fireworks Finisher'. He picks Twigg up into the air, tossing him upwards, and jumps up to grab and slam him down!
@Twigg: You get a single standard action to try and control your ascent and make it harder/impossible for Dynamo to grab you. Examples would be Acrobatics, Escape Artist, or something else more clever!
Pelkin Norwind |
Pelkin gasps as he sees the gnome tossed into the air! That fella has a death wish, I'm sure of it!
_Twigg |
"Oh man I should have taken my collection of stink beetles out of my pocket before I tried to wrestle you. The stink when I get pinned will last for weeks! No worries you shouldn't get too much of their pheromones on you... and I'm told that women aren't entirely repulsed by the smell!"
bluff 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
"Whaaa?", the Dynamo stepping back in disgust.
Twigg Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Twigg lands safely, now taking the initiative.
You're turn Twigg!
Pelkin Norwind |
SM: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
Ha! He actually fell for that ruse? Maybe Twigg has a chance after all!
Pelkin Norwind |
Pelkin keeps an eye on the crowd, just in case someone wants to unduly influence the fight.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Bah, my bad on this, but s8n e we have Pelkin again, I'll push the RP to end quickly and move toward the initial adventure portion

GM BPChocobo TK1 |
"Where did he go?", the crowd in shock, a few boos in the mix. "You play hard to get, tes, but I will still get you!", Diwali smiles as he tries to grapple near Twigg's last location. Grapple: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28 Miss chance, high = hit: 1d100 ⇒ 55
Looking for the 'stink', The Dynamo manages to grab Twigg again. "Got you sneaky little man! You make this fun, but I end it now."
Twigg, one more shot!
