Horgrym |
While Amarthecthel eyes the goblins, Horgrym looks over the room from floor to ceiling looking for for anything in the purple mists.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Amarthecthel: "Twas a big horse thing! With ta head ova dog! It lurks in the mists!
Suuuuuper scary! One of da guys was scared stiff and died!
Horgrym: Perception check please!
Monks: Looking through Murgmo's gear as well as a cache of supplies in a chest you find... a small sack with 5 green peridots, a blue vial, and a number of coins On mobile, will get exact numbers later.
Guido Sansone |
Well, I'll need at least 2 so let's start there.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
That's close enough.
Lathander, finishing his prayer, needs to wave his wand at Guido twice before the wounds close. Still a few bruises remain.
Amarthecthel |
Amarthecthel sighs, his elvish battle temper now quickly cooling. He has no idea what the goblins are babbling about.
"Drop your weapons," he says. "Know that you live by the mercy of the Silver Crusade. Consider that, and consider also that if I see you again, I will surely slay you. Now get lost."
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Amarthecthel They're already disarmed, having dropped their weapons when fleeing from everyone's mightiness!. "Yay Silva Crusaaaaade!", both goblins screech before running as fast as they can past you and Horgrym.
@Monks: Full treasure found: 200 gp, 400sp, the blue vial, an arrow wrapped in cloth, and the pouch with 5 green peridots.
Everyone still in the cavern also sees goblins running frantically yelling "Yay Silva Crusade! YAAAAAY!"
Horgrym |
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Horgrym watches as the goblins run out praising the Silver Crusade and shakes his head, imagining what he could possibly put in his report to explain this.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Horgrym: Inside the mist swirled room, you do spot a single purple gemstone lying on the floor in the center.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
With the two goblins (hopefully) leaving the place, and their loot stash thoroughly ransacked... now the purple misted room is the next location forward. Of course, you could backtrack a ways to another location, too. What do you all, do?
Amarthecthel |
"In for a farthing, in for a crown," says Amarthecthel, and heads for the purple-misted room, stopping just short of the mist to give it a good once-over.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Sue Basilbottom |
Sue comments back to Amarthecthel
"That one of them funny money systems? There are great benefits to the order and precision of a metric system you know."
Sue follows it up with an over-sized grin before peering over the mist to see if she can see anything.
Perception take 10 = 19.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Amarthecthel: The mist only rises to your knees, but as you step in to investigate, out from the mist is the form of Yuelral. With what appears to be a crystalline dagger
@Sue: Looking around the elven magus as he walks in, nothing catches your eye other than a purple gem in the middle of the L-shaped chamber.
Accursed Halls 1 map updated!
Amarthecthel |
Amarthecthel is startled to see an image of his goddess rising from the mists, but he is smart enough to know an apparition when he sees one. He also recalls the goblins' "super-scary" creature. That said, what his conscious mind can dismiss, his subconscious mind cannot.
"Avaunt, specter!" he cries, raising his rapier. "Cease, and trouble me not!"
Umm... I'm guessing a Will save is in order? Unless Amarthecthel is in fact meeting his goddess.
Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 (+2 vs. Enchantments)
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Amarthecthel: If you didn't roll it, I would have :) The misty 'goddess' shrieks and lunges towards you with its dagger aimed straight at your heart. However, as you calculated, the 'specter' troubles you not and you the mist returns to normal, resting at your knees again.
@Sue: You see some mist move through Amarthecthel, who seems unphased by what just happened.
Sue Basilbottom |
Sue balances on one leg and quizzes Amarthecthel
"You okay in there? What's up with the mist?"
Amarthecthel |
Breathing fast, Amarthecthel tries on a shaky semblance of a grin. "Just an old flame of mine," he says.
"The mist holds illusions. Don't believe what you see. In fact, if you'll trust me, close your eyes and I'll guide you through."
As is often the case with the unwise, Amarthecthel has no idea that Sue is far wiser than he, and less susceptible to phantoms.
Sue Basilbottom |
Sue has faith in her ability to walk while blinded. (Take 10 Acrobatics = 17 to walk full speed while blind)
Sue will close her eyes and follows Amarthecthel's voice across.
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 (If Necessary)
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Sue: Despite going in with eyes closed... Sue feels the mists wrapping around her, the whispers of the incoming bleaching at hand.
Luckily, thanks to Amarthecthel's warning, your heart remains strong and you make your way through the room. Passed only due to the +2 bonus for Amarthecthel telling you about said illusions.
Anyone else following the plucky adventurers? :)
@Amarthecthel: It's hard to see through the purple mist, but outside of the gemstone, nothing of interest catches your eye. Outside of the room, the northern hallway extends about 40 feet before heading northeast.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Ringmaster: You are at first startled by seeing you eidolon as well as several of your other favored summons surrounding you out from the mist, staring at you, growling hissing. Your heart at first skips a beat, but then you calmly realize that despite your greatness and command, you have yet to be able to summon all of your favored troupe members at the same time and dismiss the sight as nothing more than a figment of your imagination.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Amarthecthel: As soon as you grab the small purple gem, the mist in the room instantly changes color to a sickening white shade.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Amarthechthel: You spring to the other side of the room safely! [ooc]Moved you on the map to just outside the room. You'll have to move farther to explore beyond the bend in the hallway.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
I'll wait until 4pm MDT before assuming everyone else goes through.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Good thing you shouted the warning Amarthecthel... woulda been far uglier otherwise :P
@Horgrym: A large red demon swirls out from the mists, towering over the bloodied forms of your parents. Steeling your resolve upon the elf's words, you disbelieve the trickery and walk through the room unfazed.
2 more to go!
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Guido: You see yourself, but not yourself... as if you were puny and weak. The mist-puny-you moves straight towards you to inject you with some strange supplement, but you walk forward, ignoring it. The misty apparition then molds back into the knee-high cloud once more.
I'll bot Llathander by tomorrow morning if he doesn't reply... then to see what's in the room beyond!
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Huh, sorry I missed this Llathander; this thread was marked with no new posts for me.]
@Llathander: After seeing everyone else escape the misty room, you walk in. The mist starts turning into one of the demons you battled in the Citadel of Flame, but you immediately banish the thought and press on. The mist relents and returns back to ground level as you make your way to the other side.
Alright! Everyone's through, now who braves leading down the hallway? :)
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Llathander first... anyone else? :) I'll wait 2 more hours before continuing on!
Otherwise, I assume marching order will still have Guido and Sue in the front ranks, Horgrym and Amarthecthel behind them, and Ringmaster in the safety of the rear.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Llathander stoically takes the lead, marching the party down the hallway. After the bend, the hallway opens up to a large room with a twenty-foot-tall statue of a man carrying a tome. The chest and head of the large statue have been badly damaged, and look like they melted and ran before congealing again, giving the statue a crude, blob-shaped face with eyes of red, sparkling stone. At the foot of the statue are two partially eaten goblin corpses. A doorway leads to the southeast as the other alternative exit.

Llathander, curious about the corspes, but still cautious, slowly moves towards them. The monks behind him, however, barely notice a pair of mushrooms dropping down. Guido, however, is the only one to spot the sharp fangs and sharp claws on the beasts!
Surprise Round first! Both bugs things, Guido, and Sue get to act in the surprise round.

Sue and Guido! Make this count! And Llathander, I'll need a stabilization check as you're at -2 right now.

Sue Basilbottom |
Sorry to keep you guys waiting over the weekend, was off at another con this weekend.
Sue will activate Crane Style and step up to protect Llathander as best as possible. She will follow her step with a guarded strike against beastie #1.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 2 = 4 Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
AC 21, & Deflect the first successful attack.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
[ooc]Give Guido til tomorrow morning, then botting him and offering first full round!

Guido is quite impressed by the carnage these creatures inflicted, and frankly a little jealous. The green eyed monster awakes!

@Guido: your HP is far lower than you have it, you took 17 damage, which puts you at 2HP. With the rage, you're at 6. Finally, as a surprise round, you only get a standard action. I'll, however, count your first one, which is a solid hit :)
Your first blow solidly lands upon the insect-like creature. Although aimed right for its head, your ki blast to its nervous system seems to have no effect on the creature.
Surprise Round recap:
Llathander and Guido assaulted by the bugs. The paladin is flayed to the ground while the monk returns with a powerful blow, wounding his assailant, but not stopping it.

It only manages to land a bite against the monk, who shakes off the thing, ignoring and resisting the green saliva that failed to seem inside the wound.
Guido: You're now at 2HP! But you get to full wallop these things now!
Everyone else, do your things!
