You know that rakshasas are literally evil spirit incarnate. There is no hope for redemption: information maybe, but redemption no.

Pelkin Norwind |
We shall question him about the sword and what he knows of the murder. Afterwords we can decide on his final fate.
Pelkin will again try to use Discern Lies and try to find out as much as he can about what he knows about the situation.
Amarthecthel |
You know that. I know that. Honestly, even Amarthecthel knows it deep down. But he's a firm believer in redemption (hence the whole Silver Crusade thing and trying to negotiate with the behir), and has a difficult time with cold-blooded killing.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Fair enough, just making sure that was known. You guys can RP as you wish, although just make sure you take the proper precautions.
In fact, before you begin interrogating, what are you doing to secure Lankesh? Your knowledge of rakshasas include the fact that they can shapechange into any humanoid of medium or small size, so that'll make bindings... interesting.
Amarthecthel |
Amarthecthel binds the rakshasa, hogtying him and placing a noose around his neck.
Combat Maneuver check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18 Meh.
"Wake him up," he says.
When they awaken the beast, Amarthecthel has his rapier tip pressed against the its windpipe.
"Move and I shall kill you where you sit," he says. "Shapechange and I shall kill you. I hope that I am very clear on this point. We are going to ask you some questions now and it will be in your best interests to answer them fully and truthfully."

Sorry for the lack of updates; Paizo's site crashing the past couple of days and work business/packing have kept me busy! On that note, I'll be on a trip from Wednesday to Tuesday, so posting will be sporadic, more so for GM'ing stuff. I'll do what I can and at least get one more good post later today.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Pelkin heals Lankesh, who stirs in his confines. "Damn you and your foul magic, elf! Nothing! You shall get nothing from me!", he screeches!
Besides some dialogue, I'll need a good social roll to somehow eke some information from him. Diplomacy will be the hardest, while Intimidate and Bluff will be easier.
Pelkin Norwind |
You know, I've had it with being civilized and all of that. Redemption, forgiveness, all of it. Give me a good reason not to be rid of you.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Bwhahahaha!
_Twigg |
"listen friend... Well you probably aren't my friend. We woke you up from the nap because we need your help. If we wanted to kill you we could have. We might be working for the same people, they would be mad if we took you out and goofed on your mission!"
1d1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Try again Twig, your die roller was off. It's not looking good otherwise.

GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Twig tries, but Lankesh's haughtiness is still strong. "You may have captured me, but the others are even more powerful than I. Just you wait when the Dhalevi's arrows of death fall upon you!"
Not enough to move him, but good enough to try once more.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Twigg tries to convince the evil Lankesh to talk, but the arrogant rhakshasa defiantly taunts the party with words of death, suffering, and anguish to them and their loved ones.
What do you do? Kill him? Leave him tied up? Something else entirely?
Pelkin Norwind |
Pelkin will end the life of this evil creature unless the others stop him.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
With a clean cut, Lankesh ' s head rolls on the floor. It is getting late, about 7pm. Anything else you wish to do in Lankesh's residence, a new investigation idea, or back to the palace to rest?

GM BPChocobo TK1 |
With no one to stop them, the party searches Lankesh's house. There is very little of interest in the building other than some exotic spices. However, it appears that Lankesh has a side income, as several payment certificates from the Apananda Silk Mill.
It is getting evening hours. Still explore or return to rest and continue the next day?
Pelkin Norwind |
Hmm, where is my post? Fortunately I suggested turning the place over and that's what happened.
Perhaps this Silk Mill could reveal some answers. We might have to wait until morning, however.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
I'll await for another response before moving. If the vote is for a different action, I'll roll randomly for Horgrym.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Okay, giving until tomorrow, otherwise Pelkin directs the action!
Amarthecthel |
"We have nothing else to go on. Yes, let's go investigate this mill."
Amarthecthel heads out towards the mill.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Finding the Apananda Silk Mill is easy enough. The mill, located in the Low-Caste District, is a 20-foot-high brick building with a sloping terra-cotta roof. A few flickering lights that are visible through the windows is enough to convey that someone is inside.
A pair of closed, thick wooden doors mark the street entrance into the mill.
Map updated!
Pelkin Norwind |
Pelkin will simply knock loudly on the doors, expecting someone inside to answer.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Pelkin hears some shuffling behind the door of some footsteps moving around. Eventually, one approaches the door and an eye-latch opens up. A groggy sounding man responds in Vudran, "We are not open. Please come again tomorrow.", then slams the latch closed again.
Although he tried to sound tired, the man was only faking a tired stupor.
Pelkin Norwind |
SM: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Pelkin bangs on the door again. Sorry to disturb you, but this is a murder inquiry.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Pelkin only hears silence from the other side.
Any comments about my post in the discussion tab? Otherwise, I'll look for a player myself among my local group first.
Pelkin Norwind |
I don't have a suggestion, no.
Not wanting to be accused of breaking and entering, Pelkin suggests that they watch the place for a while before retiring for the night.
Other ideas, fellas?
Amarthecthel |
I don't know of anyone, either. Sorry!
"Our evidence against anyone here is very thin," says Amarthecthel. "I think we need to talk to them, not break in. If we get nothing, we can speak to the Thakur."
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
As the party discusses their possibilities, Pelkin notices that someone from inside is watching them through the curtains.

Pelkin Norwind |
Unless I missed something in translation the only way we talk to these folks is via murder-hobo methods. Is there another lead I've forgotten about?
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
The murder-hobo method is a possibility. Another is to wait until the morning, or perhaps go to the thakur (more than likely, your contact, Raheem, to have some official guards for you.
Pelkin Norwind |
Well, lets try to last option. Why not?
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Sorry for the lack of an update, will have one tomorrow!
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Dang, why did tomorrow turn into Friday? I apologize. I am not helping the pacing of this module. I am also still checking with others to be a 4th for module and perhaps some new blood will spur some action from me and the party as a whole :) As always, I appreciate your patience as I want to continue to see the adventures of Pelkin, Twigg, and Amarthecthel!
The party relents to the workers' requests and heads over to the Lord Raheem's townhouse in the Raja heights. A servant sees you approach and opens the door. The lord and his wife, Lady Sindhura, are sipping tea as you arrive. "Greetings, my friends. I hope your investigation is going well; do you have something to report?"
Pelkin Norwind |
Since my memory is bad, Pelkin will give an emotionless yet factually accurate account of the events. He will then ask for guidance regarding the silk mill and about any other clues that the party might have glossed over.
This is proving to be a lengthy task, longer than I'm accustomed to.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Sure! Either tomorrow or Monday!

GM BPChocobo TK1 |
The party explains the things to Lord: They learned about the Ebon Destroyers, their ties to the evil goddess Dhalevi, and other news through Raheem's contacts. On their way, they have been harassed twice; once by a little girl with a note bidding them to stay away, and another with an arrow bearing a far more sinister message. During their journey, the party came across a crime scene of an anti-Dhalevi supporter named Vitusa who was beheaded. The party used locate object on an earring to find Vitusa's head in a dumping pool.
Also in the pool was a broken weapon with a peculiar maker's mark. The party managed to find the man who made the weapon and pointed out a merchant by the name of Lankesh as its owner. Heading to Lankesh's spice shop, they were ulimately attacked by the man who turned out to be a rakshasa working with the Ebon Destroyers. They party managed to subdue him and executed the fiend after a fruitless interrogation. Searching his home, however, found that he has ownership of the Apananda Silk Mill. The workers, however, rebuffed your entry.
And that takes us to the present!
"I see... a busy day for sure. I am pleased to hear one of the Ebon Destroyers has been slain, but be careful; this has surely attracted their wrath. I can procure a warrant to allow you to search the silk mill, but it will take until tomorrow. Please, rest up and and stop by again in the morning."
With that, the Lord claps his hands, a servant coming to his master. He whispers some instructions to the young man who nods affirmatively before running to a nearby office. Shortly thereafter, the servant runs out with a small sack jingling as he makes his way out the door.
"The price for expediency.", he smiles, preemptively answering any questions about the sack.
To your quarters? Any other investigations or leads you want to find or follow?
Pelkin Norwind |
A warrant. Very well, that will do the trick. Let us rest up for the next day's events.
Amarthecthel |
"We are grateful for your assistance, Lord Thakur," says Amarthecthel.
When they are alone, he agrees with Pelkin. "And ready ourselves to be disturbed. The Thakur's warning is well-taken. The Ebon Destroyers will surely come looking for us. Possibly even tonight."
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Amarthecthel: This isn't the Thakur; this is Lord Raheem, one of the thakur's advisors. He is your point of contact for the Thakur. Innocent mistake so no worries.
The party arrives to their quarters and find a note slipped under the door.
Pelkin Norwind |
Taking the appropriate measures to ensure this note isn't some sort of trap, Pelkin will open it and read it to the group once they are in a secure location.
Pelkin Norwind |
Pelkin casts Detect Magic. He'll also try to detect any alignments in the immediate area. He'll also examine it closely before opening Perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34.
Since its merely paper, if that passes muster he'll read it.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Pelkin finds that there is a magical aura on the note.
Pelkin Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
However, he cannot identify it other than an abjuration aura with some evocation mixed in. There's another pair of evocation auras, too, on the other side of the door.
No evil alignment.
Pelkin Norwind |
Hmmm, I can't make all of this out. Perhaps you guys should try this? Pelkin will look at his friends for guidance.
