Horgrym |
Horgrym flings a stone at the bug attacking Guido, hoping to somehow find an impossible path for it to strike the enemy.
Sling into Melee: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
He then drops the sling and steps up behind Guido, drawing his greatsword.
Amarthecthel |
"Step back when you can, Guido," advises Amarthecthel.
Delay until Guido steps out of the way. Then move in and attack.
Guido can full attack and step 5 SE behind Sue.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Ringmaster: Does the eagle also get to attack this round? I believe it does (since your summon is a SLA, so standard action), so please give me your attack rolls :) Alas, it won't be able to flank with Sue unless she delays down.
@Horgrym: The bullet slams hard into the bug and it hisses its intent to feast upon you next.
Sue Basilbottom |
I don't understand why the eagle has a problem flanking with me.
Sue will do a handstand spinning kick at at the beastie she is flanking while keeping the rest of her body tucked tightly before ending up on their flanks.
Fight defensivly against #2, 5ft step NE
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 2 - 2 = 22 Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
"Here's some more room for ya, just make sure they don't eat Llathander!"
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Sue: Ringmaster wanted the eagle there to help you flank, but since your initiative is before his, you'd have to delay down so eagle will be there for your flanking benefits! Otherwise you'd be acting before bird is there to assist :)
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Botting Guido and Amarthecthel
With enough sense remaining while raging to listen to the magus' words, Guido unleashes his fists upon the bug once more before stepping back!
Guido flurry 1 @ ??? 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Damage on hit: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
crit confirm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Damage on crit: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Guido flurry 2 @ ??? 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Damage on hit: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
With a pair of heavy blows, the mushroom cap of the bug splits open and the strange beast falls unconscious.
Amarthechtel, now with an opening, steps in to cover Guido and attack the remaining bug.
Because I'm botting, I'm not going to use any of your abilities other than just smacking and hoping for a crit.
Amarthecthel rapier @ ??? 2: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25
Damage on hit: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 2 = 24
Damage on crit: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
And the elf deftly pierces the bug in the mouth, causing it flail out in pain!
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Round 1 Recap
??? 1 Manages to only hit Guido once. ??? 2 misses Sue outright.
Horgrym launches a sling bullet at the one attacking Guido before drawing his weapon and moving up.
Llathander coughs up more blood.
Ringmaster summons an eagle to does little more than scratch at the air and provide a distraction for Sue, and later Amarthechthel.
Sue punches the bug to distract it from her fallen comrade, then sidesteps to give room for another ally.
Guido gives the bug attacking him the good ol' 1-2, downing the beast.
Amarthecthel then steps in to protect Guido/Llathander, critically wounding the remaining bug.
Round 2! The vengeanance. Spelling on purpose!
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
The remaining bug, wounded as it is, doesn't hold back and launches itself at the elf who wounded it so grievously!
??? 2 bite @ Amarthecthel: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage on hit: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Amarthecthel Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Str damage on failure: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Con damage on failure: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Instantly after the bite, Amarthecthel feels his heart racing and his muscles aching; obviously some sort of venom has entered his system!
The fungal insect continues to rake the elf with its claws.
??? 2 claw 1 @ Amarthecthel: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Damage on hit: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
??? 2 claw 2 @ Amarthecthel: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage on hit: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Sorry Amarthecthel... the dice REALLY hate you right now.
And the elf drops on top of his other companion, bleeding out from the vicious claw attacks!
Amarthecthel is at -6; don't forget to subtract 1 from your Stabilization checks Amarthechthel due to the con damage... and on future rounds rolling another Fort save for said con damage.
Everyone else, save your allies!
Combat map updated!
The Ringmaster |
"Wait for a flank stupid chicken, else you´ll miss even more!"
The summoned eagle delays for a flank and attacks:
Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 131d4 ⇒ 4
Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 81d4 ⇒ 1
Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d4 ⇒ 4
"If that bug doesn´t kill you, I´ll do it myself!"
The Ringmaster will use his springloaded wristsheath to get his wand of infernal healing and activate it. (1 round action, so can´t deliver it this turn...)
Horgrym |
Horgrym will step over the fallen Magus and swing at the remaining bug.
Greatsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
"This could be going better!"
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Horgrym: Your blade cuts deeply into the bug who is now limping from the damage it has received so far.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
And actually... I forgot something Guido said earlier; that was his last round of rage!
Clutching his chest and breathing deeply, the mighty Varisian drops to his knees, and falls to the ground unconscious!
Guido, I'll need that sweet, sweet stabilization check... you're at -2 HP now that your rage is over
Sue Basilbottom |
Sue begins her talking with confidence "Do not worry companions, victory will soon be at hand... Just try not to die before then." but ends with a bit of a frown.
Sue will try and finish off the wounded one with a kick as she backflips away.
Fight Defensively, 5ft step north.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 2 = 5
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
As that's all of the active combatants, round will be over!
Rolling Amarthecthel's stabilization check as well Fort save for poison.
Stabilization check: 1d20 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 - 1 = 4
Amarthecthec Fort save: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 - 1 = 19
Guido stabilization check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Guido's breathing relaxes in his unconscious state; Amarthecthel continues to bleed out, but his body stops trembling.
Round 2 Recap:
Bug goes all out against Amarthecthel, poisoning the elf and felling him (-7 HP now after failed stabilization). Amarthecthel is no longer poisoned, though.
Horgrym steps over his falled comrades and severely wounds the bug-creature (Bug at 24 damage).
Ringmaster pulls out a darkened wand and begins to prep it; the eagle used Splash.
Sue continues to fight defensively, but misses the bug.
Round 3! Race against the bug!
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
The wounded bug, seeing the halfling as the most immediate threat, brings all it has to bear upon the crusader!
??? 2 bite @ Horgrym: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage on hit: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
??? 2 claw 1 @ Horgrym: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Damage on hit: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
??? 2 claw 2 @ Horgrym: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage on hit: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Horgrym's blow has thrown off his foe; it fails to pierce his armor!
Woot! Lucky break! Now finish this thing!
Horgrym |
Horgrym looks grimly at the pile of fallen companions around him and tightens his grip before swinging again trying to fell the remaining foe.
"If we survive this, I'm definitely going to need something to drink!"
Greatsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
The Ringmaster |
The Ringmater will 5 foot step and deliver the infernal healing on Amarthecthel and activate the wand again.
"Now hit that thing for once or I'll start hitting you!"
The eagle attacks (smiting evil if that helps):
Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 201d4 ⇒ 2
Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 121d4 ⇒ 3
Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 141d4 ⇒ 1
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Yay! Failbird didn't fail too much!
Between claw and blade, the bug has been defeated!
Amarthecthel is automatically stabilized!
Combat is over... you are now alone in a room with 3 unconscious teammates, a pair of strange insectile/mushroom bodies, 2 fairly deceased goblin bodies, and a tall, vandalized statue.
The Ringmaster |
Infernal healing on Guido
Infernal healing on Lathander
"Hogrym and Sue, do you want some healing as well?"
The Ringmaster holds his wand out to his two standing companions.
"And for you. Next time start hitting sooner or I'll never let you out of your cage again!"
Intimidate: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
"You're dismissed!"
The Ringmaster dismisses the eagle
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
After just over a minute, Amarthecthel will be at 4 HP, Guido at 8, and Llathander also at 8 and conscious!
What will Sue and Horgrym be doing in the meantime?
Horgrym |
Horgrym declines the Ringmaster's offer. "I'm barely scratched. Thankfully, I haven't been the biggest target yet."
Horgrym, untalented in healing, is going to spend that minute searching the room and examining the statue.
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
Gimme that perception check... or let me know if you're going to take 20, which happens to be 1 minute!
Amarthecthel |
Amarthecthel groans and, without rising from the floor, laboriously pulls his wand of cure light wounds from his pack and flops it onto Lathander's lap, dropping his own head back onto the stones. "Here. Feel free to use it on yourself and Guido and then me. Anyone else that's hurt, too. Let's all be in fighting trim before we move on."
Then, he shuts his eyes and sighs, going over that last move that left him so exposed.
Guido Sansone |
"Those dead bugs there dropped in and took out you, and half the party."
"One nice thing about delving in a town, the bed at the inn is going to feel real nice tonight."
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Using hits from Amarth's wand
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Sue and Horgrym: Supporting each other (Sue on Horgrym's shoulders), the two of you thoroughly examine the statue. Wanting to inspect the damage, Sue happens to note that, about 7 feet above her height, there's something metallic reflecting light in the upper chestpiece of the statue.
Sue Basilbottom |
With Sue on top of the pyramid she'll take a look for traps before carefully removing the glinting object.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Sue: You're fairly confident there are no traps, as least as high as you are on the pyramid :)
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
At this point, everyone is conscious and mobile... sore as heck I'm sure, but conscious!
Sue Basilbottom |
Sue looks at The Ringmaster "If this pyramid doesn't work out, do you think you could summon another eagle or somesuch to grab whatever that is."
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Sue: One thing is that you can tell whatever you're seeing is INSIDE the statue; and given the damage the statue has received, it'll take some muscle to get it out.
The Ringmaster |
"Well, The Ringmaster doesn't think that good for nothing bird will be any help, but he might be able to assist you"
The ringmaster takes out his whip.
"Now get that treasure! And make it fast! Or the Ringmaster will unlock the cage!"
intimidate: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Ringmaster: The bird sees the shiny... but can't reach it as the shiny is inside the statue!
However, the statue does have some ruby eyes it can try to pry out.
Sue, you can attempt this to; I'd assume that you'd take 10 on your Climb check, then I'd just need a Strength check to get the gemstone eyes. Same for breaking open the chest to get its contents!
Sue Basilbottom |
I'll take 20 on the str check to remove the object, taking the 2 minutes necessary.
The Ringmaster |
@Ringmaster: The bird sees the shiny... but can't reach it as the shiny is inside the statue!
However, the statue does have some ruby eyes it can try to pry out
The Ringmaster was actually talking to Sue... ;-) Yeah, she's a bird as well...
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Sue: Despite your best efforts, alone you are not strong enough to break through the melted rock!
Sorta mean GM... and forgot the break DC for the statue.
Sue Basilbottom |
Sue will climb back down.
"I don't have the leverage to grab it while hanging on with my other hand. Somebody stronger might want to climb up and give it a try."
GM BPChocobo TK1 |
@Guido: It takes a bit of prying, but you eventually smash open the chestpiece; when that happens two items fall out. One is a black sword made for use of smaller folk, the other is a small silk pouch that clatters on the ground, conveying that there's something to its contents.
