The alien lion continues its assault on Amarthecthel, violently lashing out with its tendrils as it tries to take another bite out of the elf!

A3 bite @ Amarthecthel: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Damage on hit: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
A3 tentacle @ Amarthecthel: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

A3 tentacle @ Amarthecthel: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
Damage on hit: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

However, the numerous near misses have caused the beast to be a bit more jittery and its aim is horribly off!

Amarthecthel, relieved at this, backs into the hallway trying to get the beast's attention... and succeeds!

A3 AoO bite @ Amarthecthel: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage on hit: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

That bite succeeds, but moving through the pain, Amarthecthel heads down the hall.

If I didn't move you enough, please correct it. Sounded like you were trying to be the last one to leave the hallway.

However, the other lion creature, sees an open spot, and immediately leaps forward.

Horgrym and Pelkin, however, are in prime spot to engage the beast as it moves towards Twigg!

Horgrym and Pelkin: You BOTH get an AoO against A2! However, since the square it was in when triggering the AoO is the same square A3 is in (kitty corner from the wall), it'll be at the same -2 penalty.

Twigg, playing out A2's bite, but there is a fair chance that your two adjacent melee attackers may prevent it!

Seeing a much smaller target this time around, the aberration tries to wolf down the gnome.

No need to draw the AoO. Just take your turn normally. I can then use Litany of Sloth, which denies him AoOs for the entire turn. I can still attack from around the corner and then move down into the room as you asked. Same for Horgrym. Twigg can then save his invisibility and move also, after doing something with his standard action if he wants. Then you can act again and move into the room last.

Niswan map Ebon Destroyers handouts Combat map

Works for me! Your OOC statement about delaying until after the lion-dog and moving if you weren't too badly hurt was, to me, sign to move you and evoke the actions above. BUT, with Litany of Sloth being used in that case, Amarthecthel, you get to do as you wish.

So order will be...

Lion-dog attacks.
Amarthecthel does something need you to declare what you'd like to do, then moves.
Pelkin uses immediate action to use Litany of Sloth, preventing A3 from making AoOs.
Rest of party does what they want, retreating after their actions.

Sound good?

And Pelkin, I'll keep your AoO roll for your turn's roll since it's the same modifiers and everything.

Given the new plan, Amarthecthel will delay until after Pelkin uses Litany of Sloth. Then he'll make a single attack and retreat to immediately in front of Dyn.

Cast shocking grasp (no need for casting defensively), attack (as part of the spell), then retreat

Mwk cold iron scimitar: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 171d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Huh, so Amarthecthel... you did create a new possibility!

With a powerful strike, Amarthecthel's blade not only seriously wounds the lion creature, but then finishes it off with a powerful burst of electricity that leaves the alien entity slain, devoid of life. With the coast clear for him... Amarthecthel heads towards the main hall to get some more breathing room!

With a new opening and a smaller, more delectable target, the last of these creatures darts forward into the fray, but misses the small gnome!

So Amarthecthel kills the creature outright then moves. A2, who has been delaying the entire time, finally gets to do something; once again, he'll provoke 2 attacks of opportunity as it is hungrily aiming for Twigg; so far, Pelkin's has hit, and Horgrym still gets an AoO. At that point, though, Pelkin's attack on his turn, will miss, leaving it at Twigg's initiative and possibly in combat, depending on if Horgrym's AoO lands!

And as another note, seeing the plan in full, it was a great one, just Amarthecthel did a bit too well softening up the lion thing, one hit killing it <_< Now, the offending lion creature is not slothed.

Well, the timing was that Amarthecthel would wait for you to cast Litany of Sloth on A3 before he did his thing (since Litany also saves him trying to cast defensively). Actually... that changes a couple of things that Amarthecthel would delay to after Pelkin, so Pelkin's turn has come and gone and A2 is still in the fight, albeit surrounded and with a very angry Horgrym who hasn't gotten a chance to attack yet!

Oddly, the second one doesn't do so. It tries to, but perhaps because the first one shook you so much, the other creature doesn't affect you.

Pelkin:

After opening the door, the fungal creature moves into the hallway, with Horgrym's sword, while shaky, swinging heavily and wounding the creature. It then whips out one of its stretchy tendrils and lashes at Horgrym.

Male Elf Magus (Hexcrafter) 10 - HP 83/83 - AC 21/T: 14/FF:19 - Perception +7 (+10 near familiar) - F: +12/ R: +11/ W: +8 (+2 vs. Enchantments) - CMB: +11- CMD: 25, Speed: 30, Init. +2 - Arcane Pool +3 10/10

"So," says Amarthecthel to Dyn. "No to 'withdraw to a better position so the healer can reach you', it seems."

"Wish me luck."

With that, he dashes forward, past the monster and around the corner, slashing as he goes by.

This will trigger an AoO.

Mwk cold iron scimitar: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 271d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Critical hit confirmation: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 111d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 Nope.

@Amarthecthel: We can't have two critical hits in the same battle; that would be madness... MADNESS I SAY!

Also, I moved you slightly; you do not have Spring Attack so after moving up and attacking, that was the end of your movement.

F2 AoO @ Amarthecthel: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 3 - 4 = 6
Damage on hit: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Amarthecthel risks moving forward, a tendril lashing at him. Using his scimitar to parry the strike, he then swings it down, felling and completely ending the life of the downed fungus.

Pelkin and Horgrym can now see that that the creature has stopped healing itself.

The only thing Pelkin sees is the vomit-covered floor for two more rounds.

My first thought was that the Star Shriek was the infamous 'Brown Note'...

Meh, looks like the battle is almost over anyway he replies to Amarthecthel.

Dyn rushes past his companions an take up a position opposite the last of the enemies.

Amarthethel:

You hear some new thoughts in your head.

"Too much thinking makes your brain drunk... release your mind grapes and embrace the Black Goat."

With that, the summons a bit of arcane energy and lashes out a tendril over the distance and tries to touch the elf.

Cerebric Fungus 2 touch @ Amarthecthel: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Int,Wis,Cha penalty on hit: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Amarthecthel feels his head getting foggy; his brain is now that to his secondary education days, when he was more abrasive, less wordly, and his analytical abilities were still being developed.

@Amarthecthel: It's a -4 penalty, not damage, so it'll end appropriately when the duration ends; Twigg can let you know it'll take about 40 minutes.

Guido tries to cheer the party on when not trying to embarrass himself through involuntary bodily functions.
