Slight correction to clear up the info Rhia gave the party re the late baron. It was one of the late baron's ancestors who put down the seditious Canteclures, and, over the past two centuries the Devy descendants have ruled over Belhaim. So, the Canteclure lord responsible for razing Tula's castle (now superstitiously known as the Witch Tower) was killed by the late baron's ancestor.

I am on my phone. Would someone please move me ten feet behind Connor?
I can do that - do you mean 10 feet south of Connor, or east of him?
Connor son of Ceorl |
South I guess. I'll check out that door once you get a response to your question.
Thanks brother.
Done and done.
No worries :)

I've placed the Current Map link in the campaign header and under my GM Ariarh header for easy access at this time. Saves you guys searching around for it. :)
And, Connor thanks for moving Riley's token.

Alas! I cannot "rage on" this night! See you all on the morrow! Night!
Peace!
GM Ariarh |
Night, Riley! Sorry for my slow posting - I had a very long posting which I lost because I was rushing and closed one of my screens (where I was posting said entry). But I recreated the post and it is finally up!
GM Ariarh |
Can each player keep a running tally of their hp, spells etc at the bottom of their posts.
At the end of each post per round, just add a spoiler titled 'Current Status' - list current HP, AC/Touch/Flat-footed, any present conditions, spells used, channels used etc ... It just makes things easier to keep track of. Thanks, kindly!

This is a retcon - this happened before the surprise attack by the centipedes. Sorry, Rhia, I had meant to tell you this earlier but got sidetracked. I'm placing this part, here, so as to not interrupt the flow of combat but still give you the information.
Having no need of the torch, she looked about in areas the light did not yet reach, letting the others know by saying, "I'll look around over here," before stepping away from the light. She stepped carefully, unsure if there was any further to fall, and unwilling to disturb any tracks that might be present.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 to look around
Looking among the rubble in the western wing of the cavern with your keen darkvision, you uncover several rusted weapons and ruined fragments of armor (all useless in their current condition). But hidden under those things, you discover a tightly latched iron case. Putting in a little effort, you manage to open the latch and inside the box is a pair of light, glistening daggers with a strange series of notches carved into the flat of each blade. You can determine that the daggers work fine as weapons, but could also have another use.
Knowledge Dungeoneering check to identify metal of blades (DC 10)
Appraise check (DC 20), to determine value of daggers. Appraising an item takes 1 standard action. So, you may leave this task until after the combat, if you'd like.
You may roll the checks here, on the discussion board, under a spoiler, thanks. :)

Alright, my fine adventurers! Tomorrow is the start of my weekend. My niece is having her 18th birthday party, so I'm headed out of town with the family to celebrate. I'm staying overnight, so I won't be back home until my Sunday (your Saturday) and have access to my comp and notes. I don't expect people to be posting over the weekend, but for those still to act in Round 1 - if you post tomorrow then I will respond/finish the narrative on my Sunday and then we are fresh to start on Round 2 come Monday.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend. :)

From your time in your father's store and under his expert tutelage, you are certain the metal of the blades is Mithral - a rare find indeed! You look at the fine craftsmanship and value the blades at 502 gold pieces each and marvel at your good fortune. Why were such valuable daggers hidden in this part of the Witch Tower? Who had they belonged to? Possibly the Lady Tula Belhaim or one of her men? Questions abound, but you return the daggers to their iron case and latch it closed again for safekeeping.
Enjoy your weekend c:
And, thank you! :)
Riley "Lucky" Rylin'dar |
Understood. :) Could be a rough first learning experience for her! Riley will probably say something about it in game (because he would). I just wanted to talk about it out of character so his comments wouldn't offend you as a player.

I think it'll be good. I was expecting her to get scolded, scorned, yelled at, or what have you by at least one of the others because she'll have gone into the experience as a medic instead of as an adventurer. XD;
Plus, Connor's had no qualms about being blunt, so if he's got an opinion, it might be interesting to see in action. :) It'll just turn into a group bonding experience where they get to see that she's a total healing derp.

If by "blunt" you mean "deliciously droll" or "charmingly savvy" then that's some spot-on observations :)
However, he might have a few things to say afterwards. After all, having a Shield Brother fall in combat is dangerous for the entire shield line. But in his defense, he will literally make it a point to do what he can to teach, rather than get upset because he honestly wants everyone to survive when fighting at his side and if he can help make that happen, he'll do what he can.
Meantime, looking back on it now makes me laugh because I can honestly say that in both real life and the game world I've never heard anyone tell me (or anyone else, except maybe in the movie "Grease") - "So you want me to go with you on that thing I said I'd do with you? Sorry, pal, maybe later - I already got an appointment with washing my hair!"
Looking back I got to say, that is pretty funny :D
As a fun aside, I teach an after school program and the past few months I started doing a tabletop game on Monday's and Wednesdays (fun fact; if you think being a GM is tricky/challenging for a table-top game with 4-5 adults, imagine having literally 13 players playing at the table who are ages 7-9 because DAMN).
I tell them stories about the games I do and the "Washing my hair" story got some pretty epic responses :)

Pffffft, no one promised that they'd leave at any given time. :P No promises were broken, sir~
And it takes time to look that dang good! Of course the centipedes probably attacked her because she smelled so good. Riley probably smells like the debris they are living under!
hiyami |
Well, she's a human, so she already smells like food. Maybe she needs some of that dirt and grit to smell less like food and more like... not food?
On another note, my channel lasts the round, so if anyone does damage to the centipedes, they'll each heal for 2. <_< I unfortunately don't yet have the ability to be selective about who my channels heal.

AH! I thought they attacked her because she rushed forward so recklessly instead of being cautious like Connor :p
;)
That said, I guess as soon as we hear back from Felix and Anila we see what Riley does and then see what happens to us next round!

I thought Channeling was instantaneous as soon as you use it in the round that you use it?
Also, healing after it is cast doesn't sound right, otherwise, couldn't you just cast it before we rush to combat, and then - even if we're hit - wouldn't that mean we'd automatically heal and negate any damage?
Also, Channel Energy is a Standard Action; I've never heard that once it was used people are ret-conned healed after the fact in the same round. I mean, if I'm wrong, that's cool - but if anyone can toss up some clarification on the matter, that would be great.
By the way, did you take "Selective Channeling"? It allows you to pick and choose who you are effecting with your Channeling to prevent that kind of thing from happening.
Cool, got to go to work - see you all later tonight!
hiyami |
Woops, you're right, my bad. c: I was thinking of the rounds as being simultaneous instead of orderly. I suppose since her turn is over, it should be okay. I was worried since I imagined channeling as being... channel-y and consistent?
I know it can start in a burst, but unless she can get the other chew toy of the party (or he to her), she's not likely to drop the channel in case the centipedes attack them again.
Also HA! I'm a total idiot. I was completely skimming over my own sheet. I totally have Selective Channeling so it doesn't even matter. Can we tell that I'm still not awake? I've had my head buried in my Magic cards for the better part of the day, so I totally passed over that.
Welp, now I feel silly. XD; Especially since I was talking with Ariarh about it yesterday /facepalm
Riley "Lucky" Rylin'dar |
Nice job guys! I'll wait for the outcome of Anila's attack to see if I'm even needed since Rhia and Connor are filling the only two squares I could move to and melee attack from. If the centipede is still up, I'll double move to give it another target (pull some heat off of Rhia). I am guessing the one Felix shot is definitely dead.
No worries on the ranged deal Felix. I'll be able to get SA without a flank soon enough. Great shot!!
GM Ariarh |
Great team work against the Centipede duo!
And with that, no more posting for me as I'm heading out. I will check the board tomorrow afternoon my time when I'm back home, again. You may continue with your social rp, if you wish. :)

I'll start left and work my way around. Does that sound good all?
Felix: Would you mind moving us around and checking each room? I am out of town for the next week and a half. I can't move my own token on my iPhone or iPad.
GM: I would be checking for traps as I go and looking for enemies.

Anila Vayu |
sorry everyone for my lack of posting lately. been having a difficult time with my kids lately and it has taken up pretty much all of my free time. enjoying reading everything though.
Riley: safe travels :)
GM Ariarh |
Not a problem, Anila. Hope things settle some with the kidlets and thanks for letting us know.
Felix Bramblethorn |
Hey guys!
Anila just wanted me to let you know she's not feeling too well and will post tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.
GM Ariarh |
I'm sorry to hear that Anila is unwell. I hope she starts to feel better soon. Thanks for letting us know, Felix.
And regarding Rhia, her Internet connectivity is poor where she is currently and she could not post today. She will attempt to make a post tomorrow.
GM Ariarh |
Riley, you're right about the DC for Untrained Know. checks.
I told Rhia to go ahead and roll the Untrained Know. Planes. :)
I have decided to make a little house rule as Knowledge skills within the group are surprisingly rather sparse at present.
At your current character level (1): You can make an Untrained Knowledge check with a DC 15. This will allow you to gain information that is necessary to resolve what is happening in the adventure. I'm hoping this will help you on level 1. Any high level/secret knowledge stuff will still have to be rolled TRAINED... and I will advise when that is the case. When you guys level up to 2, I will re-evaluate the house rule.
Thanks!
