Ok, no Mist then.
Let's roll. Jawhar opens the door and provides cover while the others muscle the bridge in place.
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

Could we substitute an Intelligence check? We know the width of the pit, and we know how long we made our bridge, should be pretty easy to assess from there? If I were DMing I wouldn't even put a DC on it.

lucklesshero |

explain to me how a guy can hoist a freaking bookcase bridge over another person then I'll let you go in front Jawhar....I mean really did you build an engine hoist? A crane perhaps? how can he even push it past you. My ruling is done Jawhar standing in front makes no sense...move on please.

![]() |

The point was opening the door to absorb the arrow shots and THEN moving out of the way to help with the bridge. Whatever, it doesn't matter.

My ruling stands , Craggark is hit and the protect from evil is on Jawhar (even if I did allow it on Craggark he'd have still been hit FF and no shield) I think we're getting a little meta here. None of you succeed on your strength checks to assist Craggark, no one has paticular skill or knowledge makeing a portable bridge out of used timber. In fact that I know of your having to use improvised tools to do the task. But, have I been overly strict? Now you propose to have 3 people and a 4th on the second round help slide this what 12-14ft make shift ramp into place over a 10 ft pit with no one holding on to the other side with a rope attached or anything! And I basically hand wave it and say sure u do it. I even give you the option of doing it blind for goodness sake! But when I rule the strongest guy must be in front to guide and place this same ramp you loose your mind? No! I say no again. And because I'm irritated ( and its within my rights as a GM) I will not let you retcon the PfE.
I am not an overly rules interpative GM, and I make efforts to provide you all with full back story beyond the scope of the campaign. In other words I care about the quality of your gaming experience. So much so that I'll report myself to a Venture lieutenant when I've got something wrong! Let's relax and not argue every point ok? Please just let some things go and move on. You will not agree with every decision I make as a referee but, that doesn't matter. As long as you respect and trust the judge. If you can't find a way to do both other games are available. As for now my ruling stands it's Craggark's turn the bridge has been placed and the DCs to move across it safely given. Jawhar is protected by PvE

![]() |

You didn't make a ruling, you simply ignored all of my posts without comment. Just like you changed the order of my casting the original set of pves with no comment.
It is all good, lets play.

eh, the 3.5 language still gets me in trouble all the time.

![]() |

I think I looked at the map this morning - maybe late last night - and it had not changed much. I go to check it now, and I'm confronted by stick figure Craggark moving the bridge.
I just can't even, as the kids on Tumblr say.

I drew that a few days ago I think? I thought it was good way to show how the bridge could be moved AND provide cover. And it made me chuckle, so there was that. ;)

![]() |

Also, I went ahead and applied the Wormwood Mutiny sheet to Torvald, once we finish Exiles of Winter Torvald will jump straight to 3rd level, so the party will have extra bomb damage AND Precise Bombs! And I'll take the Precise Shot feat so my support capability should be much better.
Torvald, is this still your plan? I am getting ready to issue chronicle sheets for book 1 of our home Reign of Winter campaign, and I should be able to apply my GM credit to Jamir after this scenario, bumping him to 3rd level as well. He will get some neat class features, but most important, he will be able to take the fencing grace feat and finally - finally! - get to add Dex to damage. I don't want to cause problems for the party as a group, though - if it would jack up the average party level too high for others (thinking of Lia in particular, who will still be level 1) I can apply it to a different character.

![]() |

I've already applied the Wormwood chronicle to Torvald, I'm just waffling between doing a one-level dip into Vanguard Slayer at level 3 or 4. It gives me Studied Target, better shield/armor proficiency, and a bonus to Initiative...Torvald will pick up a shield and try to be tankier, but I want that 2d6 bomb damage from Alch3.
What do y'all think? It hadn't even occurred to me that we'd be leaving Lia behind--sorry Lia!

Nonsense! I am closing in on my second GM star and will have some GM credits I can apply to Lia that will get her to second and closer to third.
I am also playing the We Be Goblins series for Game Day VI and I will just apply those credits to her to catch up. Sure I will lag behind by a level but when that series ends I will be right there with you all.

lucklesshero |

hey guys I think we're going to wait until after PbP game-day to run the third part of this. so you'll have what 4-8 weeks to add another chronicle sheet or 2? Also is there any interest in just throwing out a series of attack rolls and intended actions for your characters in this battle for the next 6-9 rounds? There is another encounter after this but it's not necessary to complete the adventure and we could actually theoretically have chronicle sheets in your hands by the start of game day. You would miss a small one time boon but no gold, or prestige ...let me know if this appeals. you might be able to squeeze these characters in a game-day game or 2 and when game day is over you'd all be 3rd maybe even 4th! Going into keep of the huscarl king
btw perfectly happy to finish the scenario in standard play mode, with you guys too..

![]() |

I myself don't have any game-day plans, so I'll defer the decision of the rest of the group. Trying to get my German friends coordinated so the Skull & Shackles game doesn't die has been my main priority.

![]() |

My slate is full for game day. I'd personally prefer to see this out the whole way.
After that, I need a bit of a break from this character anyways. I am very shortly going to be the only lvl 2 character in the group, bit that doesn't really bother me.

![]() |

Oh I want to play this to the end. I'm playing other characters or pregen (goblins!) in game day and GMing some local things but Lia is not in a rush.
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

Same here - I don't have anything set up for game day, so no need to rush this one to the finish.

![]() |

Never fear, Jawhar! I'll "only be level 2" alongside you!
Yeah, I'm looking to play this one out with you guys.

![]() |

Excellent, I wanted to fight that "half-troll goblin" but didn't want to step on any toes. Let's rumble!

![]() |

Why is the dice generator trying to kill Jawhar?!?
I don't suppose he cast guidance on himself first and just forgot to mention it (nudge, nudge)?

![]() |

No, I needed to double move to get across the bridge in one turn and only make one Acrobatics check ;)

Then perhaps the bodies of tens of thousands of insects at the bottom have broken your fall.
*shudder*

Moved Jawhar into the pit on the map.

This is like that movie where all the characters cheat death, and death comes hunting them down. Except it's Jawhar.

lucklesshero |

Jawhar's fine..if Torvald takes a round and a half to tie off the rope he already has (move action to move to nearest bookcase/heavy object, standard action to tie, move action back to the side of pit) he can climb down (remaining move action gets him 5ft down the pit) 2 more full round actions(climbing down) and he can climb down draw his wand and hit Jawhar (total of 5 rounds) well before he's in danger of dying. And if he slips probably no big deal avg. dmg 2d6 is 7hp...it's annoying but not lethal if you take your time.

lucklesshero |

or he could simply try an acrobatics check (to negate the first 10ft of falling dmg.) and jump right in the pit to save Jawhar...See what a benevolent and creative GM I am!!! muha ha ha...

![]() |

Seriously, leave me down there. I am safer.
I'll stabilize and in an hour I'll have a chance to wake up and heal myself. You can finish the mission without me screwing things up.
*facepalm*

![]() |

Nonsense! We will not leave you there. There are further obstacles and we need the light of Sarenrae to help lead us out of this darkness!
Besides, I doubt there is another bookcase covered pit you will need to navigate between here and the way out, or at least one can hope that's the case, so you should be fine!
;)

![]() |

If being his friend weren't enough, Torvald is also now convinced that Jawhar is destined to be a mighty prophet of Sarenrae and would like to stay in Her good graces by rescuing one of Her favorites.

![]() |

What if Jamir just jumps down, using my remaining panache point to boost my acrobatics roll to avoid damage? Jamir gives Jawhar a whiff of smelling salts, he makes with the divine healing - wand, channel, spell, whatever - we find my wand of PvE, and Torvald tosses down a rope, and helps them out?
Edit - it probably saves two full rounds over Torvald doing it alone.

![]() |

Jamir is happy to be of service.

![]() |

Same thing that happens whenever my halfling rogue who used to think of himself as a swashbuckler tried to get creative...
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

Yeah, but ... but ... Jamir is an ACTUAL SWASHBUCKLER! It says so right on the label!
Sigh. 1st level, man. Shakes head.

Look, it's a video of Jamir!
LOL! wish PFS allowed me to give you hero points!

![]() |

I'm open to other ideas, but I think this plays out with Torvald readying the rope on this round. Next round, Jamir will pull out his smelling salts (move action), and the following round, he will use them to wake Jawhar (standard action). Jamir will then lose 1 hp and immediately collapse. Jawhar will wake up and channel (I hope), and we will both be healed (is anyone else experiencing deja vu?). Meanwhile, Craggark and Lia will keep the goblin sniper from standing at the edge of the pit and filling us with arrows.

lucklesshero |

I'll give Torvald most of the day to respond in case he wants to do something besides ready the rope. If he doesn't respond by latter this afternoon I'll bot him according to your suggestions.

![]() |

Rope idea is a go, though Torvald might punch Jamir in the nose after he gets heal :p

![]() |

After this scenario, I promise, Jamir will be reducing his armor check penalty significantly.

![]() |

Sure we do... Said nearly every doomed hero ever...

FYI, I think it's about time that our GM stops rolling d20+20 for all of his EFFING COMBAT ROLLS.

lucklesshero |

did I enter it wrong? or is that a joke? if I got it wrong speak up. Um sorry about the good rolls..math says it's suppose to even out...stupid math!
