Roll 20 Map

It's that time again. Please level up to 9.

The next bit is interesting, and I hope I can do it justice. The text is a little light, so I picked up two other Paizo sources to help me with some depth. It's very open ended too, so we'll sort of feel our way a little together. Also, it is not as harried as this last bit so we can take our time a little more. Perhaps...

First Synopsis - 1 Erastus, 4709 AR

Wealday, 2 Rova, 4709
- The grand assault begins as Eviana’s plan goes into action!
- The party begins with the front door and, through the power of fog, pushes the defenders back into the hallway before defeating them. Glesh’s attacks took their toll however so the party falls back briefly to heal.
- Moving across the hall, they engage the ‘C’ team and find them quite a match. The drow and trog fall easily, but the Vrock is another matter.
- Then the elves pass the party, eager to find their (likely) kidnapped friends. Alas, the door is too much for them and the lot of them burn - all save one lone woman - Eilwen.
- The Aboleth causes a little trouble with Eilwen and Tarkir, but it is quickly subdued and the party moves on to the southern door, ignoring for now the black pulsing gate (closed).
- A couple priests and a pain taster await the party as they close in on the Armageddon Echo. The pain taster enjoys himself all the way to death, and the party steps through the gate hoping to save the elves taken prisoner.
- They find themselves in ancient Celwynvian, some 10,000 years in the past!
- After stealing a book from the innocent librarian, the party moves off and toward the Academy of Arts when they bump into a handful of demons herding a fiery skeletal form - a Blast Shadow!
- The party met some elves at the elf-gate who talked of the Zirnakaynins and their location at the observatory.
- They try camping outside, but are attacked by a band of Drow. Seeking a more restful place to sleep, they take over an abandoned home.

Oathday, 3 Rova, 4709
- Rising early the party reaches the conservatory very nearly at dawn. They quickly overcome the two elven guards - themselves unable to fight back effectively and enter the building.
- Inside a smooth and slightly damaging battle with the drow, and some strange-acting demons, gives way to an even shorter fight with a dragon! Short but brutal.
- They polish off the remaining demons, though at least one gets away. (Did he look familiar?) Unfortunately, the party uses the last of their healing, and there are still wounds a plenty ravaging them.
- Troglodytes command the parties attention and talk their way out of almost certain doom as they flee to the east.
- The group presses their luck, opening another door which leads not to another battle, but rather to knowledge.
- They continue deeper and discover the dragon hoard, or what’s left of it. Grabbing a few things, at least two of value, they continue up the stairs.
- A speedbump mostly - a few drow try to slow their advance but fare poorly.
- Finally, they reach the top, and after a fiery blast, the party cuts down the lesser drow and pinpoint Nolveniss Azrinae.
- Nolveniss proves slipperier, but he too is eventually cut down, but not before his wrath is felt.
- Lief tests the key, and the party is stuck in the Echo another day…

Fireday, 4 Rova, 4709
- The party rises in darkness and quickly heads to the gate where they emerge in the light of a new day!
- They make their way to the main tent, and give their report to Eviana, and the other elves, who react to the news most warmly.
- Eviana leans in and makes the party very wealthy indeed and invites them to dinner.

If no one wants the headband of Intelligence, Kaylayne will gladly take it until she can get one of wisdom. Would the elves trade the headband Int for headband Wis? Is there a spending limit?

Through their teleporting to Kyonin, you can get almost as much diamond dust as you may require. See Invisibility will be made available to you, no charge for a casting today. They can probably make a casting a day available for the next few days if you really need it.

You can get a straight swap of Int for Wis out of this particular headband as it has greater value than just a normal headband to the elves (though not in cash terms). Normally however, sale and purchase processes apply.

No spending limit, but some things may not be immediately available. The elves are tapping many resources for this battle, including the use of the Aiudara Gates, and you are sharing in that availability.

Dimitrio - thanks for the heads up!

Don't forget about group purchases, like, say, healing. If you want of course... I'm not going to pressure you. :)

Okay so, looking at the treasure sheet, we still have an unused scroll of Haste, which I think Dimitrio should add to his sheet since I believe he is the only one who can use it without a UMD check.

I'm not sure what everyone's spending plans are but we could afford a wand of Cure Moderate Wounds pretty easily, it would be about 900gp per person, but it would likely last us longer than a CLW. We could also buy 6 CLW wands for the same price, so give me some input on which you would prefer.

Ederin doesn't have much use for an intellect headband but it does seem to have an oddly specific secondary trait that I'm hesitant to give up, but if no one is going to wear it then I suppose it doesn't really matter.

Wands of CLW are always the most cost effective choice. Even with rolling minimum of 1 on each charge you will get 600 pts of healing across the six wands compared to rolling the average of one wand of CMW and only getting 550 pts of healing.

Dudes, after the last dickery, I'm for getting both the wand of CMW, *and* the 6 wands of CLW. At this level (and moreso, likely), we will start going through them at an ever greater rate.

Yeah there was a lot of damage going around, and not to meta game too much, but when I play a game that drops a shit ton of resources on me (like 10,000 gold, lets say) I can only assume the going will be rough after that point.

With Kay's proposed purchases from the current loot list, we'd still get 1,796 on top of the 10,000 each from the elves.

Ohh...alternately, Kaylayne can, in theory, upgrade the headband to be both +2 Int & Wis, yes? About a 6000 gp difference and 3 days of crafting work, right, Evilan?

Does it seem reasonably likely that we'll have 3 days of downtime?

I'm Ok with whatever decision is made regarding using the funds to buy healing. We need it and we'll need it more.

GM: is it Ok if I hold off on making the decisions of what to buy until I get home and have time to properly evaluate. To be honest with you, I'm not sure what funds I do have to spend yet. if that's fine, we'll 'retcon' (?) whatever purchases were made.

Nope, it would not have helped. There is the swamp encounter you largely avoided earlier, near Riddleport, but that's the only time these boots would have helped. I don't see a lot of swamps in the underdark either (assuming you're headed that way of course). Might save your cash for something else? Up to you, but I'll allow the item.

Yes, I'll save the cash. I saw that the boots helped with difficult terrain and also helped with fortitude save vs poison so I got excited.

Help me out guys. I want to increase Dimitrio's mobility so he can close in quicker into melee and counteract the evil GM's use f difficult terrain. :)

Boots of striding and springing is OK... but not that good. Anything else out there?

Since we don't have a reliable haste/BoF caster, why you'd want anything other than boots of speed seems odd to me.

Also, why you're not trying to save money by seeing if any of your companions can craft that headband is interesting. *hint**hint*

The boots of speed are too expensive at this level. :(

A note about the upcoming part of the adventure. This is supposed to be a fun romp in the Underdark - honest! heheheh. Seriously though you’re high level characters and can handle this I think.

If you accept, your characters will be drilled in your new disguises and backstories for the next week or so before departure - I’ll explain more in gameplay. We will not be that tedious however and will hand wave most of it, so your skills might matter more than your role play at times. Your characters will know more about drow than probably you do so if things feel like they’re going sideways, feel free to reach out to me in chat and ask what your character might know.

But do role play obviously. Try to talk your way into/past/around the upcoming situations. And be flexible to a slower pace in character. You’re in hiding and could be caught at any moment, and yet you must also play the long con. Tip your hand too soon, and you’ll be forced to flee without any knowledge at all! You have weeks…

There is quite a big sandbox coming, and I hope I can handle it. Frankly I suspect I’m more nervous than you are.

Oh, those of you wishing to retrain some skills or abilities may do so now - but only the last level. I also had the idea of buying a headband of intelligence +2 with Bluff as the tied skill if you like. Expensive, but instant lie-ability. There are spells that help too - a potion or three might be useful I don’t know.

Perhaps I'm reading too much into your posts but we are all humans and... will we have to give up the human traits (extra feat, extra skill rank, +2 to ability, etc.)?

Yes and no. It'll be a wooden fetish of power. You'll need to describe the animal from which you wish to draw the pearl's fetish's strength.
