male human lvl 2 (varient multi-class rogue)

I blame an unconscious portion of me that does not want all of my "associates" to survive.

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

Does Danir also get an AoO?

Othan wrote:

Oh no, Xov wants Essar alive before the last encounter of this quest...

he'll explain why later:)

male human lvl 2 (varient multi-class rogue)

even if he doesn't like people, othan is too much of a professional sellsword to let people he is working with die on a job. Parts of him may subconsciously want some of them dead which could be effecting the functionality of his mind blade.

Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch

Danir should have killed the zombie right by Othan and that would leave only 3 of the zombies, the 3 in the southwest corner of the room, are those the ones that attacked Esssar and Othan?

hp 8,ac 13/10/13, fort 2+, reflex 0+, will+6, Initiative 2+, Perc 4+

Essar felt the claws sinking into his backside and he starting bleeding as he fell to the floor.

thoughts as he starts dying:
Essar's subconscious plunged him into the battles against thrane, he remembered finding a "purification" camp. Most of the prisoners had already died from malnutrition and being worked to death, those who were still alive were barely alive. Then Essar's eyes turned towards the fat puritan who he had captured, the man had ran the camp and there could be only one punishment... Essar wreathed his hand in red energy and touched the fat, ranting thranian on the chest. The man started convulsing as his heart started failing, the man was dead within three minutes of agonizing pain...

Yes. But you have an AoO on it.

Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch

As the fast undead creature tries to move past him in the direction of Essar and Xov, Danir strikes out at it with his morningstar in the hopes that his luck will hold...

That's a hit, and enough to kill it. Essar, you've been spared!

There's only one zombie left!

Essar saw the undead charging at him as he healed Xov and drew his dagger, then the Cyran swung hsi mace into the skeleton's skull. Essar nodded approvingly at the Cyran and wondered whether or not the man could become a Karnathi...

The zombie is covered completely in ice! But, he isn't stopped, because Corpses don't feel cold.

shouldnt using liquid ice as a focus make it do more than 1d3? not that it would matter against a corpse but still...

As a focus (not expended), it only adds one damage. If I broke the flask and threw it, then it would deal 1d6. I guess they didn't want an unlimited use cantrip to do more than 1d3+1?

It's weird that I drink liquid ice every day, though. There is a state where water becomes a supercooled liquid that helps make ice, though.

Yea, it doesn't actually make much sense. But it's D&D :P
is the zombie dead yet?

Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch

3+5=8 Damage, hit it again to be on the safe side :)

I think Danir and Othan can still attack it--both of you made an AoO on its last turn, and it had a lower initiative, so both of you should get to go again before it does...unless I'm missing something:O

Silver Crusade

male Human Atlanteologist 10/G.eneral O.perations D.irector 8

no, you're right. They can attack the last zombie.

Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch

'Once more, with feeling,' Danir thought as he moved to swing his morningstar at the last zombie standing...

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (8) + (1, 5) + 3 = 17

And swung wide, missing the creature as his not fully healed wounds caught up with him.

Othan swung his mindblade back once more.

"You did well in this fight, Essar..."
I guess that makes you and I even[/B]" Xov's eyes twinkled. Perhaps the human is finally beginning to understand his Duty...he saved me after I saved him yesterday.

"Now that this sillyness is done, let us continue...but keep an eye out for places to rest, for we likely cannot finish it one day. Also, watch for anyone who does not appear mindless-- We need more information for this quest, as our only evidence is conradictory, and we likely cannot finish it one day."

hp 8,ac 13/10/13, fort 2+, reflex 0+, will+6, Initiative 2+, Perc 4+

We need to retreat if these were only the outlying defences I do not believe we wish to deal with what will be defending the target... Furthermore we need better tools to fight these undead, tanglefoot bags and holy water are the order of the day I'll put fifty galifars to their aquisition if you will.

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

"Essar, we aren't raiding a military base. This isn't a simple dungeon crawl...
there are at least three opposing factions after the same item as us, and if you treat this like a simple attack on a fortress then we are bound to fail.
People live in the cogs...there are probably even inns down here. Maybe we can find a place to rest...and there would likely be at least someone who has clearer information on where Nimblefingers is, and who surrounds him.
"

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

"I barely even HAVE 50 galifars."" Ebran says, picking up his chakram.

Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch

"Having already bought Holy Water, I too am not able to spare funds at this time... but you should be able to bless water yourself, shouldn't you Essar? I was under the impression it is a basic weaving of positive energy into a common element."

Bless Water... 1st level spell

hp 8,ac 13/10/13, fort 2+, reflex 0+, will+6, Initiative 2+, Perc 4+

Yes I can do that although I will need at least one day or preferably two to make a sufficent supply. As for this not being an assault on a fortress Xov you are mistaken, a fortress is not just a set of walls, a keep and a castle. A fortress is anything that allows the defenders to be able to repel the invaders despite being significantly outnumbered. With the right traps, obstructions and strategically placed undead one could turn the cogs into a deathtrap...

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

"More of a deathtrap you mean. What Xov was trying to say, among other things, is that there are others who pursue what we do. We haven't the time to just wait around for weeks while you bless water and build a cart to carry it all."

male human lvl 2 (varient multi-class rogue)

"Wait, did the almighty demi-god that is Essar just suggest retreating? I could have sworn that he claimed to be incredibly powerful and nearly undefeatable. I say we press on. "

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

"What I meant was that the occupants of this 'fortress' are not all on the same team. We can't win by simply fighting them all, the best method is to manipulate them against each other."
Xov listed to his allies arguing about retreat, before stepping in to say
"How about a compromise--we find a settlement down here to rest in. It will give Essar time to bless his water, and it will give us time to find crucial information about Nimblefingers. I'm sure someone down here understands the situation better than we do..."

Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch

Danir, listening to his compatriots debate the best way to storm the Cogs, looks around to insure that they aren't about to be waylaid again.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

hp 8,ac 13/10/13, fort 2+, reflex 0+, will+6, Initiative 2+, Perc 4+

Manipulation is great Xov...when it works. If we were dealing with say the zealot idiots of Thrane I would not hestitate to manipulate them. However these factions are different to say the least, we simply don't know enough concerning them to manipulate them without it blowing up in our faces. I do have an idea on how to remove them though, assuming my theory if correct... As for the Inn yes find one and hole up.

Silver Crusade

male Human Atlanteologist 10/G.eneral O.perations D.irector 8

There's nothing you can see down further into the cogs that can pose a threat. But you never can tell . . .

The cogs is notorious for wandering monsters and gangs.

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

"Then let us find a settlement of sorts down here..."

You do find a settlement, Xov. The people who live down below do have an inn to rest with, a market place, and places to pitch a tent. Also, has anyone ever thought about searching the zombies?

Oopsies, I forgot:P Hopefully either Danir, Othan, or Essar will remember...

Xov will look in the inn for anyone who looks reasonably friendly.

Hold we must search the undead, look on the bones of the skeletons for any marks. It was common practice for karnathi necromancers to leave marks signifying who raised and is presumably controling the undead.

You find rotted clothes, about 3 buckles of gold (unknown if it's plated or solid -- don't metagame on this), two rings of steel -- one that has two dolphins swimming around a dark blue sapphire, and the other with an inscription in Elvish. About 20 Galifars, and four marks of Karrn origin.

hp 8,ac 13/10/13, fort 2+, reflex 0+, will+6, Initiative 2+, Perc 4+

Essar studied the four marks warily as well as the ring with the sapphire.

he does have some but for the most part they are aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews his parents were Karnathi career soldiers. They died while fighting in Thrane.

Probably, they say something about the Blood of Erandis Vol.
