Bronwyn wrote:
"Palisade, I order you not to die. You aren't allowed to, not today."

”Acknowledged,” Palisade said, faltering on its feet as yet another flood of corrosive liquid ate its way through its body plating. Pale pinkish fluid from the ‘forged’s alchemical fluid reserves mixed with the acid as veins and reserve bladders punctured. Tendons made from lifewood began smoldering, adding thin tendrils of smoke to the mix. All in all, it was a miracle the ‘forged still stood. A Miracle, by the grace of the Creator-Goddess.

Knowing it could not take another attack and continue fighting, and considering Lady d’Deneith’s order, it seemed reasonable to switch to a supportive duty while awaiting maintenance. Thus, with its shield held high, Palisade began retreating, calling for the blessing of its Goddess to provide its companions the aid they needed to finish off the threat.

Hmm… reading from the PHB, it would seem the only way to get an Opportunity Attack is to move out of melee reach. So that’d mean Palisade can freely cast a spell? If so, PfE has outlived its usefulness (Palisade can’t survive another breath, with or without it), so time to cast Bless instead, 3rd level slot, affecting everyone BUT Palisade (and since my ‘forged had highest init, everyone should benefit from it on this round already).

Would like to move out of reach as well, but I doubt Palisade can do that safely while also casting the spell… Bronwyn did give express orders so retreat would be called, but I will take enough liberties to decide Palisade will see improving the odds of others to kill the dragon will lead to improving its own odds of survival.

If casting Bless would cause an AoO, Palisade will retreat instead (I assume there was an action for retreating without risking AoOs in this rule set as well).

You could always take a dodge action and move instead of casting bless; it would mean that you'd still provoke moving out, but the attack would have disadvantage. Given your AC, there's a decent chance you'll be missed that way. Otherwise you can cast your spell and hope for the best moving out.

Dusk's icon appear to have disappeared from the map but she should be directly under the dragon.

Despite the horrific injuries inflicted on Palisade, Dusk concentrated on the target in front of her to disable it as quickly as possible and halt any continued threat.

She called upon her magic to mark the dragon for imminent demise, then gripped her blade with both hands, swinging in a wide horizontal slash then changing the direction of the oddly weightless blade by bringing it straight down and trying to decapitate the dragon.

Casting hex, dragon now has disadvantage on dex saves

slashing: 2d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3, 5) + 4 + 1 = 13 plus necrotic: 1d6 ⇒ 5

She continued to press her attack, blade moving in two diagonal arcs as she sought to find a weak spot.

Here's hoping everything is well with Squeak. All I keep hearing about are the evacuations in Australia due to the wildfires.

And speaking of fire...

Bronwyn barely paused after she released the fury of her fireball at the dragon before shooting more flames at the creature. Having exhausted her reserves of more potent magic, she resorted to three scorching rays that meant she had to aim.

Scorching Ray#1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

I think he mentioned Canberra some posts back... that's close to the bushfire area, but let's hope a city is somewhat less flammable than the countryside.

Sadly it's not just the flames... one morning a couple of days ago I was greeted by the oddest sky, it was horizon to horizon yellow/green and stayed that way the whole day. Later I read that it was the smoke from Oz's East coast, it had made its way 2000 km to blanket NZ's South Island :/

Fingers crossed Squeak is ok, and just out of comms due to evac.

Sorry everyone. Out of comms because I was distracted, but am safe. Canberra is blanketed in smoke, and it is not working well with my Asthma, but I am a damn sight better off than people to the east, west, and south.

more detail:

We spent a day smoke-proofing the house, and our poor air filters have been on Turbo for days. As we speak the one in my sealed bedroom has almost managed to move the air out of the red zone and down into orange.
Fire conditions were a nightmare today (er, yesterday given the time), and we recorded our hottest day ever, but the fireys managed to stop the fires idiots tried lighting and the nearest fire is a fair way away. The strong hot wind from the centre of Australia actually didn't have (as much) smoke, so I took the opportunity to go outside. Outside is nice.
That same hot wind was nightmarish for the people fighting fires. Our neighbours have a holiday house that might well be gone today, but they're planning to go back with supplies and a generator for their (holiday house) neighbours.
Tomorrow is down to High fire danger, but we are hoping and praying that the forecast rain for Monday comes through.
If I evac, it'll be to a different part of Canberra. We're on the edge (great view of the national park, though) and I understand the city is reasonably defensible, at least the built up concrete bits, as we still have some water in our lakes. On the other hand we've lost some of our power generation, so I might lose internet.
Australia has always had terrible bushfires, but this is like nothing I've ever seen - and I'm hearing the same story in social media from professional firefighters. The 'Fires near me' app is a sea of markers, and where we might see one or two red warning fires during the height of bushfire season there are eight in my state alone. Whole towns are basically gone. The burned area is beyond my ability to process. People have been evacuated beyond our normal ability to cope. It is a miracle we've lost as few people as we have, and that is a tribute to the firefighters. Conditions this extreme might well cost our PM his job, and might just be enough to convince our conservative government to start addressing climate change.

As Palisade fell back, Squeak advanced. There was little left in his repertoire, but the tactics discussed were clear that once Palisade was disabled it was Squeak who would need to bear the brunt of the dragon's breath.
'Perhaps I can threaten the hoard? No. Hold the line.'
Seeing no reason to waste time, Squeak took the opportunity to add his own small fire-arrow to Bronwyn's incendiary barrage.

** spoiler omitted **...

Glad you are safe and thanks for the update from an 'insider'.

I can see (sort of) people arguing if climate change is induced or accelerated by humans but the fact that some people still argue about whether climate change exists or not is just baffling.

Hey Fendir- when Fabian says "next hit kills the dragon, make it good", you gotta make it good! Good descriptions = happy DM = more treasure!!! :)

Mei'Vi was nocking another arrow when something unexpected happened. She didn't know if the reckless barbarian did it on purpose, or if his frenzied assault was accidentally impressive. Whatever the cause, the dragon's shriek suddenly cut off, mid-cry. Looking startled, the dragon watched its body fall thrashing to the floor, while the head remained impaled on the barbarian's thin sword. The rapier bent beneath the scaled head's weight, and the beast closed its eyes for the last time as it came to rest on the blood-slicked floor.

Panting, Mei'Vi listened hard for the sounds of more dragons approaching.

While Squeak attended to Palisade, Bronwyn cocked her head to listen for more approaching threats but admittedly her attention kept being drawn to the pile of sparkly treasure.

Still in the grips of his feral rage, Fendir continued to assault the creature's neck, stabbing again and again....until, with a rather disgusting and loud *SQUELCH*, the creature's head rolled free from it's body. Satisfied at last that his foe was dead, Fendir finally allowed his reason to take over and calm returned to him.

The second dragon died to Fendir's blades, but that didn't mean the danger had passed, Palisade thought, as where there had been two dragon, who knew if there would be a third one. That, and some of the lizardfolk they had encountered earlier were still unaccounted for. But be that as it may, Palisade realized it was not exactly in a shape for another battle. Thus it staggered towards Squeak and the artificer's healing infusions, once again upending its decanter of endless water over its head to wash off any lingering droplets of acid hiding under its body plates.

Squeak pulled a large, pump action syringe full of liquid cement. "Palisade: please verbally prioritise damage locations." as he started to apply the cement, Squeak noted that the location he was repairing had already been repaired previously. Idly he considered the dragon's flesh. 'A sentient creature. Sentient creatures are not to be consumed. Unless...' he considered Vi's words 'A lack of information ameliorates the potential damage.'

When faced with the Dragon Horde, Fendir begins sorting the coins, starting with the gold coins, into 6 piles. If not interrupted, he will continue onto the silver, and then copper coins.

I didn't think about it at the time, but since I was part of an expedition to tomb rob, would it be reasonable to say I have a few large sacks on me, or at least at our old camp?

Once the piles were created, each pile contained 3,333 CP, 1,000 SP, and 166 GP, leaving 4 GP and 2 CP.

That's about 90 lbs. of coins each. I am going to assume that the warforged are going to carry Bronwyn's share, but I sorted it out none-the-less.

Finally accepting that they were safe, at least for the moment, Mei'Vi allowed herself to fully take in the dragon treasure. It was a pile of money like she'd never seen before. Slowly, a grin spread across her face, and she raised one eyebrow at Bronwyn.

Pretty sure that the wizard had the same idea, Vi took her hand and ran towards the pile of treasure. Scattering the piles that Fendir had started, the changeling leapt into the treasure and rolled unabashedly around in it, taking minimal care not to cut herself on the weapony bits. "We did it! Can you guys believe it! We killed not one, but TWO dragons! DRAGONS! And we have all their treasure! We're rich, we're rich, we're rich!"

Turning to the 'forged, she said, "I think we'll need to bring 162 down here to help us haul this back up. Ouch!" she cried, as she nearly impaled herself on a jewel-encrusted dagger.

Sliding down the heap of coins, Mei'Vi started working with Fendir to split everything up. "We should have brought more sacks. I wonder if Surkil's artifact thingies are here. What was he looking for again? A wand, and a crown, and a.....an amulet?" She scanned the shrinking pile of treasure, looking for anything that might fit the bill.

Assuming we have to delve deeper into the temple for the Age of Dragon stuff?

Something caught Mei'Vi's eye as she moved coins into piles. A ring. She picked it up. It was a silver ring, with a small emerald cunningly set within the silvery whorls. Admiring it, she slid the ring onto her index finger, then held it up for Bronwyn to admire. "What do you think, B? Magical?"

EDIT - assuming we're having a short rest here...

Action 1:

Bronwyn frowned slightly and then shook her head, immediately smoothing out the wrinkles that had formed. "There has to be more to this place. Where is everyone that was around before? And where are the artifacts that we're looking for? Surely they'd be better secured than randomly buried in a dragon's hoard. Did you find any secret doors?"

Action 2:

Bronwyn pulled numerous mirrors out of her belongings. There was a large hand-held silver filigree mirror that she used to check the back of her hair, a smaller hand-held mirror that she used to quickly check her overall appearance, and a compact mirror that she used to look at her face close-up. She handed them one by one to Palisade. "I guess there are more than a couple. These should help but please be careful with them. I'd be lost without them."

Action 3:

Bronwyn allowed herself to be pulled along by Vi towards the pile of treasure, giggling all the way. She stopped short of rolling around in the hoard along with Vi. She met Vi's accusatory gaze while placing her hands on her hips, "I'm not about to ruin my dress by ripping it on one of those pointy bits. Besides, it's not ladylike." . Instead she very gingerly began searching through it and couldn't help but giggle at Vi's enthusiasm. "It's so cute that you think this makes you rich."

Bronwyn's eyes brightened as Vi showed her the ring she found. "Oooooh, that's very pretty. I'm glad to see that I'm rubbing off on you and that you're choosing jewelry. Emeralds are a nice choice but..." Something obviously caught the wizard's attention and she gracefully bent down to retrieve it. "Why settle for only one emerald when you can have rubies as well." . Bronwyn had picked up an ornate, yet delicate, looking headband made of white gold and adorned with both rubies and emeralds that someone had expertly set to look like roses and leaves.

The wizard spoke a few arcane words and waved her hands over the objects found. After a moment of concentration she beams at her friend, "Yours is magical and so is mine! How exciting! Although for future reference, it is risky to randomly put on items that are magical. Some magicks are harmful instead of helpful. Given some time, I can try to identify what the objects do."

Action 1

Once the group met back together to confirm the level was clear, Dusk waved her hand and her shadow blade went back to wherever it had come from in the first place.

"Well, well, well... ok sorry let me start again...

she chuckled.

"If the pieces Sur'Kil sent us for are not in this hoard then there must be another door we have missed. Does anyone have magic that could sense such things? If not we're down to tapping on walls and that will take some time..."

Action 3

Dusk stared at the piles Fendir was making.

"It'll do us no good to carry that further down then back up again, just so you don't start stuffing your pockets yet..."

She turned to where Bronwyn and Vi were laughing over some jewelry and inclined her head, smiling slightly at their mirth. She used the toe of her boot to sift through the coins yet to be counted, and reached up to touch the dragon skeleton. Her fingers traced the rough bone, her eyes closed as she walked, her hand running along the giant wing until she stopped by a claw. Crouching down she lifted one talon to reveal the glint of grey metal. She narrowed her eyes and plucked a chunk of metal from the floor, sitting on her haunches and turning it over in her hands. The shoulder guard was unblemished, smooth and shiny as the day it was forged. She held it up to catch the light, yet it had no gems or runes on it. She stood and cast it aside, only for it not to leave her grip. She stared confusedly at the armor piece, as tiny metal filaments wrapped around her hand and wrist, they moved with sudden speed, the filaments climbing her arm and settling on her shoulder, wrapping around and securing the pauldron in to place with a 'snikt'.

She reached up to touch it.

"Errrr....Bronwyn? Would you mind waving some of your magic in this general direction? I'm sure it's fine but I'd like to be sure in case it wants to eat my arm..."

Casting Detect Magic on the items found. Will use her Identify scroll to determine what the items do

OOC: Casting detect magic is fine but Identify is not needed as items 'reveal' their powers once someone 'attunes' them to themselves by spending time in contact with the item for a short rest, which is happening now.

Action 1
"I do not. I would suggest we could carefully measure the dimensions of the structure, and attempt to work out hollow spaces that would be able to hold secondary treasure."

Squeak stared morosely at the dead dragons. "I am saddened we needed to kill the children."

Action 2
"All praise the Creator Goddess." Squeak agreed, and paused "However..." he paused "No, I suppose if it were to be considered the use of non-genuine parts, she would not grant you the use of the power, and thus could be considered an exemption to clause three, paragraph five. Indeed, as the Creator Goddess is by definition an authorised supplier, and she grants you the power to create these parts, one could argue that they are in fact Genuine."

Tricky theological issues navigated, Squeak set back to work.

Action 3
"Coins are irritatingly difficult to move." Squeak complained "I suggest we build a temporary smelter and reforge them into convenient thirty pound bars." Inspiration struck "Indeed, we could reforge some of Palisade's armour plating out of the materials."
Squeak looked to Bronwyn for support "It has been said Palisade is worth his weight in gold. If we replace some of his weight with actual gold, we may be able to improve his value:weight ratio, and reduce the weight we need to carry out."

for the record, this is a terrible idea.

"Praise be," Palisade echoed piously, ignoring the excited chitter of the High Priest of the faith, who was now nibbling ineffectually on an ancient platinum coin with his tiny little teeth. "Clarification. Unit Squeak, this one is humbled by your offer of your own parts to effect repairs on this one, but it would serve no purpose for you to lose structural integrity on this one's behalf. What temporary repairs your arts can effect will suffice until we have both the time and the materiel for a more permanent solution."

"Intrigued. The suggestion has merit, considering the logistical problem of moving the whole of the hoard through the jungle," Palisade said, watching his elder brother, who was now running circles around the mound of precious metals, apparently quite taken by the wealth of riches that had landed in his tiny little clockwork paws. "Perhaps some of the base metals could be used for replacement parts. Those not claimed by Elder Brother, of course," the 'forged nodded respectfully to the little rodent who ignored his little brother in his obvious excitement.

Current Face: Mei'Vi, elven explorer AC 15 | HP45/45 | Saving Throws: Dex, Int | Init +3 | Perc +8 | Invis ring charges left 1/3 | Inspiration 1/1

Mei'Vi sat against the wall, coins piled into her lap, and idly twisted the ring on her finger. The adrenaline of the battle had worn off, and she was feeling decidedly tired. Closing her eyes a little, she allowed the conversations around her to wash over her (Don't make Palisade gold, it's too soft!), but didn't bother joining in.

After a few moments the noises around her began to fade, and she felt herself falling into a drowsy, dream-like state. Only....it felt more like a memory than a dream....

Mei'Vi's memory/dream:

Zolzi wiped sweat from her brow, not taking her attention from the tiny gem in her tweezers. The magnifying glass made the little emerald crystal look like a smooth, green river stone, and she took a moment to admire it. But she didn't dare delay more than a moment, for her final exam was almost over, and she didn't want to risk ruining the ring she'd been slaving over.

The silver ring was firmly clamped and glowing with magically-induced heat, and Zolzi only had another minute or so to set the gem into the ring. After that, the heat spell would expire, the ring would cool, and nearly three weeks of hard work would be over. Or ruined. Depending on what she did now.

The gnome held her breath, so that the arabic-gum coated eyelash that rested in the silver setting didn't flutter away. Oh-so-carefully, she brought the gemstone down towards the setting, keeping everything aligned just-so.

With a mighty crash, the shutters flew open and a tiny creature rocketed into the apprentice lab. Jumping in her seat, Zolzi swore as Fimdi - her faerie-dragon familiar - flapped her butterfly wings overhead, sprinkling her workspace with the luminous purple dust she constantly shed. Eyes back on her work, the wizard-apprentice sighed with relief to see that the eyelash was in place, and she hadn't squeezed the tiny emerald out of the tweezers.

Carefully dropping the gem into the setting, she glanced at her spellbook and spoke a series of arcane words. The silver setting clasped the emerald as if alive, then the magical heat winked out. The ring began to cool, and Zozli breathed a sigh of relief.
"Fimdi! You almost wrecked it! How could you be so careless?" But the young faerie-dragon was already off investigating an interesting skeleton in the corner of the lab, and Zozli sighed. She'd been well-warned against taking such a young dragonet as a familiar, and she should have known to double-lock the shutters.
A moment later and the ring was cool. Slipping it over her finger, she murmured "kaplan poto". She vanished from sight, and the gnome crowed in delight. "I did it! Fimdi, I did it!"

The dragonet turned at her voice, and squawked in alarm to find her mistress missing. Swooping down to the sound of Zolzi's laughing, Fimdi crashed into the invisible gnome, and was swooped up into an invisible hug. "I did it! I did it! I'll pass Ring Forging with flying colours! Well, actually, with no colours at all. I did it!"

Slipping the ring off, she returned to sight, much to her familiar's relief. Placing the ring in a little box, she admired the silver ring with the small emerald. Everybody always said that invisibility rings didn't have gems, that they were simple silver rings for a reason, but to that Zolzi said Kaplan Poto! Her ring was perfect. Shutting the box, she didn't notice the strange purple flicker it gave off. To be honest, even if she had, she'd probably have thought nothing of it.

Pleased as punch, Zozli headed off with the results of her final exam, Fimdi perched on her shoulder, delighted with herself and with the world.

A crash of metal jolted Mei'Vi awake, and she jumped to her feet, only to realize that it was simply Squeak and Palisade's repairs making noise. Her attention returning to the ring on her finger, she said, "I wonder....hmmmm....Kaplan poto."

Mei'Vi instantly disappeared from sight.

Fabian:
I hate to waste the 100% on a trial run, but it'll fun discovering the ring's foibles as we go, and there's no way she wouldn't try it out right away. :)

Having completed his task of sorting, Fendir removed a pair of sacks from his pack and loaded the coins into them. He then tied them off and picked them up, making sure the load was well balanced.

Responding to Vi's post above:

The task with the coins sorted, Fendir took a walk around the room looking for anything out of place. It wasn't a sight or sound that caught his attention, however...

It was a smell.

Fendir followed the slight odor to it's source, which turned out to be the Kalashtar leaning against the wall dozing. As he got closer, the intensity of the odor didn't change, which was odd in and of itself. Fendir simply stood over her for a moment, trying to see if he could tell what about the smell was wrong. As he was thinking, her eyes snapped open and she said something in a language Fendir didn't recognize.

As she looked up at Fendir, who was staring down at her intently, Fendir simply asked "Why do you smell wrong?" There was genuine curiousity in his tone.

Action 2
While Bronwyn and Dusk fiddled with their items and Vi took a rest, Squeak turned his attention to the skeleton. Reverently he moved the bones from the shrinking pile, carefully reassembling them in an anatomical model.

if anyone asks him why
"It was my understanding that Dragons do not die of old age. I was curious what around here had managed to cause the death of a creature so powerful. I am hoping there are clues on the remains to suggest what caused this."
"Given the children had not dragged their parent from the pile, and had not turned on each other, it suggests that for all their greed they displayed family feelings suggesting that it was not them."
He turned to Palisade "Could I borrow some wire?"

A moment later he continues
"She died here, defending a prison. i.e. she died at her post. Palisade; I think I would like to hold a decommissioning ceremony. It seems wrong that we simply destroy her remains and move on."

Action 3
"So. Further down. It occurs to me" Squeak announced "That potentially the children were acting to stop something below from coming up."

OOC: I'm not following this whole scene here. I know you probably did NOT mean the kalashtar and we can attribute that to you playing other games. :)

However, what's the part about the smell?

Oh man, hilarious, the first time I read that, I had no idea he was talking to/about Vi. I thought that as part of the illusion that was seen through, he was able to see a kalashtar protector, Holy Grail style. I was wondering why he was acting so casual!

I assume the smell thing is because she looks like an elf, but doesn't smell like one (cuz she's a changeling)?

However, after Vi "she said something in a language Fendir didn't recognize.", she disappeared from sight. Does this not faze him at all? Can he see invisible people?

Fabian - what else is in the pile? What about those glowing thingies we saw earlier? What about the weapons/armour? Specifically, what the other lizard dudes had stolen from them? Vi is definitely taking that in the hopes of returning it. Does B's magic eyesight see anything else cool in the trove?

The only other magical item is the spear that was described to you by the Cold Sun Lizardfolk you met earlier.

There's also a 'necklace of fireballs' with only one bead left.

Action 1:

Bronwyn wandered over to Dusk and giggled, "I don't think it's going to eat your arm. It's magic if that's any relief. Unless it's cursed, I can't imagine someone creating something that would do something like that. Wear it for awhile and see what happens."

The talk of melting down the precious metals to fix Palisade piqued Bronwyn's interest and she wandered back to the 'forged. "As much I would love to upgrade Palisade's look, I'm not sure if soft metals is the way to go. I don't know how beneficial gold will be in protecting your vulnerable bits." She held out her hand, "And assuming that you're done with my mirrors, I'll take them back. I need to see how the headband looks on me."

Action 2:

Bronwyn held her larger mirror out before her and took time posing as she made minor adjustments in where the headband sat on her head. She must have stared at herself in the mirror for about ten minutes. To an observer she probably looked completely self-absorbed. However, the reason she was staring was because she could literally feel her mind expanding to make more room for knowledge and more importantly, magic. But the odd thing was that she also knew what each gem was worth that was set into the headband. Hundreds of thoughts and theories raced through her head as she stood there. She was absolutely certain that where most people used ten percent of their brains, she was now using thirty.

She flitted over to Vi and was about to scare her since her eyes were closed when her friend mumbled 'kaplan poto'. Seconds later, her friend disappeared from sight. Bronwyn twirled wondering which direction she went, "Invisibility! That's so cool! Very appropriate for someone who likes to lurk." Wanting to play a little bit of a joke on Vi she said, "It's a shame about the activation word though. I guess whoever made it must have had a sense of humour to get you to say 'goblin farts' every time you activate it."

Action 3:

Bronwyn beamed at the 'forged, "Great job you two! I was beginning to think there was no where left to go and then you both find this magical, illusionary wall." She cocked her head to the side as she slowly regarded first one and then the other, "Have either of you considered fashioning beards for yourselves? The gold and copper would be great for that!"

Not a lot of time and it was even harder having to follow Vi's great post. Absolutely love Zolzi and Fimdi :) So I apologize for my Action 2 being less than inspired

I second Bronwyn, nice story/flashback Vi :)

Action 1

Dusk stared intently at Bronwyn as she discussed the item.

"Very well, thank you for your advice. I will see what this does then, and let you know if it does anything else...unsettling"

Action 2

Dusk kept a wary eye on Fendir as he towered over Vi, ready to step in if things became hostile.

She half turned to Squeak

"Why reassemble the skeleton?"

Cue Squeak's reply

"That's fitting and I appreciate your thoughtfulness, but we're here to do a job. Can this wait until we have accomplished our given task. Unless this is deemed a higher priority?"

Glancing over to check on Vi, she frowned when she could not see her, though Bronwyn was not acting with alarm. Dusk moved over to join her.

"Invisibility? A nice effect"

Action 3

"That is a good find. If everyone has rested then I sugest we explore that way and pick up the rest of the horde on the way out."

The other 'forged considered the suggestion for a moment, then nodded. "Approval. A dragon is a superior species, designed to exist for centuries and only grow stronger as it ages, not infirm like most inferior mammalian species," Palisade agreed. "Such masterful design is indeed worthy of respect, so it might inspire us in our own designs and creations. Truthfully. It was a shame the younglings had to be exterminated, but they stood between us and our objective, and their specifications proved second to our own," the 'forged continued, using a finger to trace over its chest plate the Creator-Goddess' holy symbol, which coincidentally also happened to be Sharn's Tinkerer's Guild's emblem. "Addendum. They also appeared to loathe us at first sight, which is not conductive of peaceful coexistence."

Bronwyn wrote:

Palisade cocked it head to one side as it considered this surprising new development. "Query. What is the actual purpose of male facial hair, except as a secondary or tertiary sexual characteristic? We do not have the need to attract mates to procreate, so there seem little purpose to a beard. Thoughtful. Bears are also said to contribute to a patriarchal appearance. Lady d'Deneith. Are you suggesting ornamental beards would increase this one's and unit Squeak's social status?"
