Support and casters are probably what's needed most. We have enough combat monsters that I'm somewhat regretting not going with my Druid character.

Terra is an oracle so she is technically a divine caster.

Yup, I was saying we have an awful lot of melee and not much by way of casters. There's only you and, oddly, one other Oracle/Fighter with much spellcasting. So a full bard is a good choice.

EDIT: Oh, and a Magus.

@ GM Arkwright: Starting level is 5. I only mention it, because the file name is DoranLevel6.pdf, although it isn't clear on the sheet. Please clarify and/or fix.

@ Casper: As far as social situations, there could be a few. I try not to plan out every single item, helps me to minimize railroading.

@Tiriael: Yes there is still time to post a submission. As far as roles, JonGarrett is correct in that we need more full casters and support roles are the most lacking. That being said, I'm not looking for an optimized group necessarily. As stated, the main deciding factor is background.

@ everyone: If we keep getting more awesome submissions, I just might up the party size to 5 or 6. I'm definitely toying with the idea.

Grand Lodge

yup there is a magus :) my own submission ... hehe

Updated Submissions:

Ok, so I guess my concept will fit in nicely - if I understand correctly, main requisite is actually a background and motivation for the character, before any crunch comes up correct?

I have a couple of ideas in my head, so I will see if I can whip something up in a decent time frame.

Thanks for the feedback.

Sczarni

well with a party of four, one divine (oracle is my submission) and one arcane fits nicely into the usual paradigm.

@ Tiriael: Well crunch doesn't hurt. I personally, usually get the basic crunch, stats and class usually, to lay some ground work at least.

Heh sorry, brain died. All fixed.

Any thoughts on Doran's background?

@ GM Arkwright: The only question I have left of your background is an explanation is where does the Primal bloodline come from?

After going over the character I realized that I never chose any traits. I looked them over and it seems that the following two are the best fit.

Deft Dodger and Poverty-Stricken.

Ideally it comes from Enkidu being a dragon specifically associated with fire. One of the Primal dragons would do nicely but they're generally not good aligned... any issue with me fluffing Enkidu as a noble Magma dragon?

Well, crunch is always fun, I was just trying not to get too tied up in it :D

Ok then, support is...

Cha 18
Str 8

Dexterity: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Constitution: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Intelligence: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Wisdom: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Dexterity: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Constitution: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Intelligence: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Wisdom: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Ok, this is a no brainer (wow, that Int... would rather some more Dex tbh..) - very good rolls in set 1 nonetheless, so in the end it is something like:

Str: 8
Dex: 12
Con: 15
Int: 17
Wis: 11
Cha:18

Can these be modified by racials?

Sczarni

yes

Yes. Also, don't forget your +1 from level 4.

Still finalising my numbers need a 2nd trait, Equipment and to finish the spell list.
Aasimar favored class bonus is in the Cloak effective level (7.5)

@ GM Arkwright: I don't see why not, go ahead.

Alright enough lurking in the shadows and time to throw my hat into the ring!
I am going to submit a lava gnome mindchemist. Here is a skeleton of his build.
Gnome (obviously)
Darkvision, gifted linguist and pyromaniac race traits
Etymologist and adopted: helpful traits
Breadth of experience feat

His stats using the first set on the first page with str folly and int focus are
Str: 6 (8 base -2 racial)
Dex: 17
Con: 20 (17 base +2 racial +1 level up)
Int: 18
Wis: 9
Cha: 13 (11 +2 racial)

He's going to be one durable little guy :P
I'll start building him up right away ^-^

Sczarni

yikes! you'll have to be careful with your weight, 40 lb puts you at medium load and 60 at heavy!

That's why he makes friends with characters with positive strength modifiers.

Sczarni

yeah but he's going mindchemist presumably to get int even higher... so that'll put him at four or worse.

His kit alone weighs 5lb. Even if we factor in small sized clothing, he's giong to easily be weighed just by the gold he carries. A handy haversack + his kit is literally 10lb, 4lb shy of his weight limit at 4str for light. If he's wearing armor, which most alchemists will... he'll easily be over weight the entire time.

He will need a mule, The Ant Haul spell, or Mule Back Cords.

Lol, I am quite aware of the limits of 4 str :) I actually will probably not be using my cognoagen hardly at all, that -2 str would be to painful. Thankfully gear weighs less when you are a small character so that helps despite being able to carry even less because I am small. I track weight merticiously so expect me to apply any weight penalties as needed :) the big thing I will have to worry about would be str draining poisons/diseases but thankfully I got a good fort save :)

I ended up getting dragged away by the crunch - it is mostly done :D
Let me know your thoughts on it.

The personality and background are in my head - will lay it down shortly but I must confess, as much as I usually tend to get dragged away by long background introductions, snippets of roleplay and details about the character personality, I am turning over a new page - it has been getting kind of frustrating fully developing your character, almost getting to know it and then not being picked in the end. So my backgrounds are going to start decreasing in size.

Alas, that is the nature of PbP, and one has to suck it up and keep moving ;)

Rushed around to update my background a bit now that the campaign info has been updated, annnnd then I realised that it's still a week off. >_>

And that is why made the recruitment two weeks, things change sometimes and I wanted to give ample time to adjust for those changes.

Sczarni

Feel free to buff the background into the woadlings started failing against the raiders and blamed the "foundling"

Well I just got done going through the backgrounds, noticed some of you updated your backgrounds and I noticed a couple of submissions I missed, my aplogies.

Anyway, updated Submissions list:

Since Tiriael is not shown I am assuming only submissions already with background are considered?

See? Even there I missed one, I apologize. Just try to have one by close of recruitment.

Submissions:

Hehe, will do. Thanks for the update :D

Alright, backstory reworked, I think I'm happy with it.

Any questions/critiques?

@ Captain Piers: Nice rework. I did have a couple of things:

1.

Captain Piers wrote:
The packed me up and sent me off....

I believe that is supposed to say 'They packed me up and sent me off...'

2. Gregor the Fourth, Amplitudo Legisperitum. Which one is the name of the NPC?

Other than that, I think you're pretty solid.

Thanks, the NPC is named Gregor, everything else is a big fancy title

I am very exited about this game. I really look forward to seeing the final selection. Even if I should not make the cut it was still very fun.

I will say that I enjoy homebrew very much over an AP or module. Thanks for the opportunity GM Scary Ceiling Voice!

Campaign Info Update: I have added a link to a language site I use for racial languages. It should cover most everyone's language selections, except for Ancient Script or any custom language created in you character background.

I meant to ask about Ancient Script. Is it only to be used for Magic, or is there value in it beyond that? Basically I'm asking if, based on my background, my character should know it, and if it will be of any use to her (remembering again that she won't ever be using magic herself.)

Also greatly looking forward to this one. GMSCV has a difficult choice ahead of him.

Can't wait to see the selections

@ Charlotte: Well, since Ancient Script is pretty much in every single ruin in the Desert of Ghosts, I would say it's very useful to non-magic individuals exploring them. Because you never know, the writing on the wall may have a clue that saves your life. Hehehe.

(Impending name change ahead. This is Guerilla Burialgears)

Here is the basic crunch for my character :)
He throws bombs, creates infusions, he is a lover of languages (he can speak 20 different languages!), he knows lots about everything, he can help out the party with really nice aid anothers, he can cast some arcane magic through extracts and he is really durable ;)
Basically he is very much a support character that can fill multiple roles and help out in many different situations, great for a small party size :)
I will get him finished up here soon.

Looking at the languages I chose, would it be reasonable to have Ancient Script vs Giant? I feel that growing up in the wilderness he could have come across ruins and such. I didn't see Giant in the list with that language converter you linked on the campaign tab.

Great job all - selection will be quite difficult!

That's what I was anticipating, thanks! I'll update my languages tonight.

I feel like a complete idiot right now, I finished this character a few days ago and completely forgot to transfer it to my profile. I apologize and will have the crunch and fluff updated when I get home to my computer in the morning if that is OK.

No apologies, you have until July 8th.

Latest Submissions:

I miss anyone?

I couldn't wait to get home so used my phone and did fluff on the fly. Will have my crunch up later as soon as I get done writing it all down by hand. Lol this is so much easier with books in front of me for some reason. Oh well.

I think you are missing Brother Cultrum Manus, level 1 fighter / level 4 hungry ghost monk of the sacred mountain.

That or I'm missing him when I read over it haha

That looks like everyone to me.
