"I think it is Khonnir but unless one of you can heal, he's just as good in there. Whether he was whole or not when he got there, the thing has him hooked up to a bunch of things and claims he is in dire shape. If you can heal the man, let's go kill the machine and continue the search. If you can't, then we don't need two people weighed down by an injured old man when we get in a scrap. Put any pretend feelings you may have behind and look at it logically."

M07k blinks at Kul after the rapid response. "I admit I do not know you well but that action sounds illogical as well. You do not trust machines yet you are trusting the man you are supposed to find to the care of one? One that threw you and us into prison cells? I do not know much more than basics of triage but I don't think the man in medical stands a better chance with that machine than he does with us. We don't seem to have a healer but you must have cleared a path to get here. We can take that same path out correct? I think we should rescue him first. Torch can survive another day without it's namesake." He looks around at the others for agreement.

She shrugs, I not really bother whether to rescue him now or later, just as long we find out why the torch has gone out, and if the change is a threat to the area.

"See, the lady gets it. We came in to solve the torch problem. The old man is a bonus. Granted if we got him out and he survives he may be able to lead us in the right direction. However, I'm not going to be the one lugging his butt out of here. I'll lead the way and smack anything that threatens but I'm not getting my guts cut out because I was helping an old man. If someone wants to carry him, I'll help you get him out just so I can ask him some questions. If anyone wants to carry him, speak up now, or I'm pushing on to engineering. I decided that sounds better than geology."

"Good, let's go." Kul says and walks through the engineering door.


Engineering is trough geology but you have already cleared this section so there is no issue.

The first room in this section is littered with debris. 4 pillars have been raised in the corners and wires have been assemble with some-kind of intelligent design.

Random sparks of electricity go off all over the place.

You see a passage that goes to the right and another to the left beyond the pillars and wires.

You see muddy footprints here and there. This room has been disturbed before and the footprints look humanoid.

This room is a trap, recognises it as such is easy but disabling it is not so easy.

M07k looks at the medical wing for a moment then back at the others. He could hardly get the man out alone. He'd end up killing both of them in the process. And he wasn't a trained physician so he had no idea what the old man's true prognosis was. Best not to rick it until he had help.

In the next room M07k starred at the strange pillars, fascinated. Some intelligent design went into it but for what purpose he did not yet know.

M07k Recognises the pillars as being the sensors outside the doors that make them open when someone approaches. They are likely being use to activate something when movement is detected.

seeing the sparks, she speaks softly, I don't like the looks of this place with all those mini lightning taking place.

She looks around to see if she can spot a means to get around the wires and sparking pillars.

"Hmm," Kul'Theraka said and walked back into the locker room. He grabs the body of the dead plant creature (assuming about half the size of a man, if not, he will grab some other large object) and returns to the room with the sparks. "Let's see if we can trigger this trap. Everyone move back." When everyone is back in the doorway he backs up as well and tosses the plant/object into the room toward one of the exits to see if he can get something to trigger.


As he does dozens of bolts of lightning spring to life all across the room at random. After a moment the bolts stops and there is a low hum as the pillars are recharging.

"What do you think? If we did it again, could we run through one of the exits before it can strike?" Kul asks musing.

She hops even more back when the room fills with lightning, I am so glad I was not in there.

Hearing the hum, What is that come coming from the pillars? What is it going to do next in there?, speaking to no one in particular.

Upon seeing one of the black rectangles attached to the pillars and wire M07k was thrust back into the past once again. He took it all in calmly as it had happened many times before. This time he was walking down a hall. A closed door approached but he was looking above it at the black rectangle. He saw a small light turn green as he approached and the door opened. It seemed to sense his presence or movement.

M07k looks curiously at Kul. "You are suggesting we try to run through a room with devices that track movement which activates a trap that shoots lightning? If anything moving very slowly would be the better option. Or perhaps tossing more things until the trap runs dry."

"It's that running dry I was thinking of. Before I tossed it, she was quiet. After I tossed it, the thing started humming. I'm guessing it has to... catch its breath so to speak. I'm thinking we may be able to hurry past while it regains its strength. However, I like the robot's idea. We could toss two items to test it. One to get it to go off, then a second to see if it can strike again quickly. As for hitting it. I wouldn't recommend that. It'd probably just blast you while you hit it. Anyway care to help me find two objects large enough to get the trap's attention?" With that he walks off to find something else to throw.

She looks at the pillars of the room, as she speaks listening to the hum, Someone needs to remain here so see how long the pillars make a hum for. So if it is does not react to second item thrown in, we know more or less how much time have have get through before the lightning trap triggers again.


The hum stopped fairly quickly it lasted around ten seconds.

Kurgu picks up a piece of debris and launches it at the trap itself.

The piece of debris impacts against the pillar but inflicts no visible damage (hardness 15)

You also notice the trap did not activate.

Once Kul can find two good sized items he returns to the room. "Here goes nothin'." He says and then throws in the first item. Assuming the trap triggers he waits until the lightning stops and throws the second item. If the trap does not trigger with the first item, he hustles through to the nearest exit.

You manage to run trough the room before the trap recharges but as you enter the next room you come face to face with a group of orcs.

They look like intent to fight and with the way back blocked by the trap you can't retreat.

The first attack glances off Kul's armor but the second one gashes him badly. Not wanting to have a repeat of that, he attacks the one who hit him. As he attacks, Kul says in orc, "Stand down you ugly lugs and let's talk this out!"

With a roar of rage Kul'Theraka makes what he hopes is a crushing blow that will end his foe as he himself slips into darkness. Seeing his sword cleave into his opponent he gives a toothy grin just before his unconscious body slams into the ground.

M07k manages to get his shield up in time but the blow is so strong he can feel his bone fracture from the heavy impact. For now, the battle high keeps the pain from registering. With another encouraging shout, he pushes forward to strike at the orc again.
