Welcome to the recruitment thread for a new Jade Regent AP Play-By-Post adventure.

CHARACTER SUBMISSION
I've been stalking the boards for a bit and I've seen both extensive and barebones submission requirements. I hope my submission standards are acceptable. My goal is to provide enough information to make a solid choice for the party without burdening the applicants too much.

1. Come up with a character concept (obviously). This includes your background (this can be basic - I don't need a novel if you don't already have one), race, class, appearance and reason for being in Sandpoint. You don't need to have a completed stat block to apply.
2. Share how often you can post. As I've seen on RPOL, slow-posting games die quick deaths. I'm asking for a minimum of one-post per 24 hours.
3. Share how familiar you are with the AP - and be honest. Having prior knowledge of the plot isn't going to keep you from getting in, but it does help me get a sense of what my players know going into the game.
4. Share what you hope to contribute to the game mechanically - both in battles and out of them.
5. Provide an in-character response to the following "scenario." This is designed to give me a sense of your voice as a player and your personality as a character. Your response will have no bearing on the story or future implications for your character.

The Scenario
The Rusty Dragon is filled with patrons gleefully drinking, eating and conversing. A visiting Varisian bard is one corner, singing a crude song about a Hellknight and halfling sailor, while in the corner across the room, a game of liar's dice is being played by several rough-looking characters. Suddenly, a large, tattooed thug stands from the game and bellows, "Ya filthy cheat! You think you can just smile at me and take my gold? I don' think so!" He lifts his accused from his seat - a slight Varisian male seemingly less than half his size.

The bard stops playing immediately and points at the scene. "Someone, help my brother from that brute!"

CHARACTER CREATION
The following is posted for information only - you don't need to have a completed stat block to apply. In the interest of expediency (and my sanity) no exceptions will be made to the rules posted. Sorry.

-Players will start at 1st level.
-Any non-evil alignment is allowed, but if you choose Chaotic Neutral, please provide a little note about what that alignment means to you in your application. Also, if you play as LG, please don't be TOO obnoxious. :)
-20-point ability buy
-Max HP for your class
-2 traits - one MUST be a campaign trait
-Max starting gold for your class
-Core races only, please (sorry)
-All Paizo-created classes are allowed, including Gunslingers (we will be using the emerging firearms rules, though, so tread carefully)

LET THE APPLICATIONS COMMENCE!
I look forward to seeing what this community comes up with - I expected big things, Paizo.com! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
GM Cello

A (Very) Little About Me:

Hello!

I'm new to the boards here. I recently moved for work and lost my gaming group. I am saddened by this development, but I'm eager to fill that real-life-gaming void with you, my new virtual table-top peers.

I've played a little PbP over on RPOL, but I'm excited to join the community here at Paizo.

I'm a rules-light GM - that is to say, if you're creative or roleplay well, the dice or mechanics don't make the final decision on your fate.

You've earned 10 bonus XP for your character for clicking this incredibly uninteresting spoiler.

I'm definitely interested, although it will take me a moment to create an interesting character.

How many players are you looking for?

Oh, I'm interested alright.
I have a character that was made for a Jade regent campaign that folded not too long ago; we had reached the point of departure from Sandpoint.
We had reached lv 2, so I'll just scale back the character and post it a bit later.
As for the scenario.
"Hold on there big fellow, now why go ruining a perfectly good evening by throwing accusations around like that? Tell you what, why don't we make it interesting?
I challenge you to a knife tossing contest. You win and I'll cover your losses, I win and we call it even and say no more about it. Win or lose, I'll buy you both a drink and we can all be friends, what do you say?"

I'm also interested. No promises on posting, unfortunately - best to consider me an alternate if you can't reach your ideal number of players. I've skimmed the Player's Guide on Jade Regent, but no more.

Character to be forthcoming. Probably by the end of the night.

EDIT: I should mention I know one other fairly big thing about Jade Regent, but it's out of context (don't know when it occurs) and it was only a particular possible outcome (could even be GM fiat for all I know).

Once I post my character and should you elect to take me, I'll let you know this instance (could contain spoilers, so best by PM).

EDIT2: Oh yeah, I dunno if anyone is interested, but for RP between two characters (or even everyone) Skype may be an option. At least for me.

OK, Dinner time with my girl. Character tonight!

I am interested and this is the character I am planning to go with(after I do some adjustments), but deciding on a campaign trait is going to be tough as none of them really fit, I may end up changing the back-story or adding to it, to incorporate one of the campaign traits.

I think parties of 4 or 5 are ideal, but if there are six great characters, I could probably go that high.

Also, I should add that I prefer interesting characters to optimized ones and well-rounded parties make my heart smile.

@Avan - I could probably soften on the campaign trait requirement, or we could work on the flavor of the trait to suit your character. You do need a reason to be in Sandpoint and to care a bit about its inhabitants.

Your right, I guess we could go with the latter as a lot of these traits would give my character a reason to care about Sandpoint and its inhabitants, also please feel free to criticize, comment and advise me on my character.

Sovereign Court

I am interested and possibly a friend of mine also is. I will post my character later, and I would be able to post serveral times per day.

CHARACTER SUBMISSION

1. Come up with a character concept (obviously). This includes your background (this can be basic - I don't need a novel if you don't already have one), race, class, appearance and reason for being in Sandpoint. You don't need to have a completed stat block to apply.

4. Share what you hope to contribute to the game mechanically - both in battles and out of them.
5. Provide an in-character response to the following "scenario." This is designed to give me a sense of your voice as a player and your personality as a character. Your response will have no bearing on the story or future implications for your character.

1. 80% to 90% done

2. Assuming normal conditions, lots.

3. Not familiar at all

4. In battle my character will obviously be a front-line fighter with decent damage, tripping abilities, speed reduction and a 30 foot radius demoralize. Out of battle I am sure acrobatics, perception, sense motive, knowledge history, intimidate and stealth would be useful to any adventuring group.

5. I'll write the scenario later on.

1. Born of a Tian mother and a Chelish father, Tatsuo Fullona lived his early life as a noble scion in the city of Korvosa. His family's ties allowed him an education and extensive training with a tutor from his mother's homeland. Eventually, he began a promising career in the City Guard, the youngest successful applicant in a generation.

On the heels of this accomplishment, however, the local king died under mysterious circumstances. This caused a riot when the common folk suspected the young queen of murdering him for the throne. Tatsuo helped quell the uprising, but not before the fighting and a subsequent outbreak of plague claimed the lives of nearly everyone in his family. He and his sister Jin eventually escaped the turmoil by selling what remained of their estate and relocating to a small town on the coast, Sandpoint. There, they met new friends, including Ameiko Kaijitsu who had recently suffered losses among her own family, as well. Smitten with her beauty, wit, and fiery spirit, Tatsuo has lingered ever since, hoping to win her heart.

Tatsuo is a half-Tian Chelish Human Cavalier. He is six feet tall, handsome, with dark brown eyes and black hair cut short. He takes extraordinary care of his appearance and gear.

2. I should definitely be able to post at least once a day. I have a job that allows me to be at my computer often.

3. I am only vaguely familiar with this AP. I intended to run it once and skimmed the first adventure, although I don't recall many, if any at all, of the details.

4. I'm not entirely sure what this means, but I can say that I began playing RPGs when 3.0 D&D was released and I played that all the way up to Pathfinder. I've mainly GM'd my entire career, so I am very familiar with the rules and I am patient with those that might not.

5. The scene was all too familiar from his days in the City Guard. Tatsuo approached the angry patron cautiously, hand straying to where his katana hung along his belt. "Where drink and money flowed, so too did violence.," he reminded himself.

"Friend, please set him down. I am sure that what ever dispute you might have can be settled amicably, or we can discuss it further outside."

PS. If another player had their hopes set on a certain type of character, ie. a front liner, I'd be more than willing to make a new character. Whatever works out best.

Hope I ain't late

been looking for a jade regent game for about a year now so here is my submission

he ain't perfect but He can be a cool character.

basic stuff is in the profile

I would be very interested in this AP.
1. Human Alchemist. Learned to make potions and all sorts of various concoctions. He likes to test his creations in the field. He was trained by a local alchemist in Sandpoint. He is currently look for less work in the shop and trying to find the latest and greatest ingredients to test.
2. I can post daily, on a few days 2-3 times.
3. I only know that it starts in Sandpoint and I believe you are guarding a caravan for most of it.
4. I will probably be the more ranged bomb throwing alchemist. Out of combat probably lots of knowledge based skills. If the party needs it more I would be willing to try and turn him into a more melee focused build.
5. Ranged build: Approaching the thug “Oh good sir, don’t let this little fellow bother you.” How about I buy you a drink and we forget about liars and cheats” Sleight of hand some poison in a drink, then hand it to him.
Melee build: Drinks a mutagen. “Listen bub, why don’t you leave the scrawny guy alone and pick on someone your own size?” Picks up a chair and tosses it at the thug.

"..."

1.) Just interest right now, but I have been aching to play in this campaign, so I'll be back later with a full submission.

2.)Once a day through the week is easy for me and I can often post 2-4 times in a day if need be. Weekends tend to be a little more occupied, but I can easily get at least one post in on weekends. I'm an active participant in a super-fun Reign of Winter campaign as Styvanus Rozier. Feel free to check that out.

3.)Just as full disclosure, I plan on beginning running this AP within the next month for a group I'm trying to get together. I have read the first part of the first adventure but I haven't finished reading it yet though. I do however, solemnly swear to not be a metagaming jerk. :P

Questions 4&5 Will have to wait till i figure out a full concept, but I just wanted to post interest and get up those two answers.

thanks!

Ok guess its time to answer the questions ...I have a bad feeling about this these never go well for me.

1. concept / back story well it all in the profile (like I said made this character for a Jade regent game and been trying to get in for about a year)

2. I usually post once or twice a day. weekends are sometimes iffy depending on family obligations but I usually get something in over the weekend provided there is something to responds to. (i'll at least post in discussion)

3. started the AP but it died. did not get very far.

4. character contribution. well 1. he's a cook. good food all around, 2. he's a drunken master so dwarves beware. 3. he's a monk so he will be you jack of many trades (like a bard.) will be useful in melee as well as some comic relief every so often. (he is a little bit Jackie Chan)

5. The scene erupted as Lou made his way out of the kitchen balancing another three orders in his hands. he bobs and weaves his way among the moving patrons, some scattering to get away while others start to form a ring waiting to see the fight.

Lou eventually makes his way to the scene. the orders were not theirs but given the situation perhaps they needed his special recipe more than the original customers. He manages to weave in between the two Order up, three special house chicken he tells the me hoping the smell of food will quell the anger.

The larger man shoves the cook aside not wanting to distracted. Lou barely manages to hold the trays as he starts to fall toward the table.

leaving the food on the table Lou turns back toward the quarreling pair.

I did say the food was on the house, didn't I? I really think you would like it. he says as he grabs a small handful; then as the larger man starts to holler at him Lou shoves the chicken into his gaping maw. the initial reaction is one of shock but soon gives way to searing pain as the spices penetrate his taste-buds.

In the mans sudden "hot-flash" Lou quickly brings him down with a leg sweep. then with a quick flip the man finds himself face down on the floor. Lou manages to tie his hands behind his back with his apron and escorts him out the door, grabbing an ale along the way.

after shoving him outside a toast to tonight's entertainment he toasts the thug and the bard. and downs the ale, as the Thug starts to charge Lou in a fit if anger he tosses the empty mug cold-cocking the thug across the fore head leaving him lying flat in the dirt.

Lou the returns to his duties by getting a fresh order for the original patrons desiring his special family chicken recipe.

Hope this answers all the questions.

Sovereign Court

1.
Born in the wilds of the Mwangi expanse, Kenrick Geimfind was always a spirited dwarf growing up. His parents were both interested in living a simple life in the middle of no man's land. He grew up with the animals of the jungle all around him. Kenrick met a young ape while on a walk one day and the two soon became greatest friends. The next 20 years he was always on adventures in the forest with his ape Gregor. Then one day as he returned home he found his hovel and his parents hovel in ruins. Standing in the ruins were orcs, thirty to be precise. The orcs were slavers on a mission to capture some of the natural wildlife, and two dwarves were too good to pass up. Dwarf prices were up in the market of Absalom. Kendrick reached for his dagger and charged the orcs with Gregor following closely. Kendrick cut down three of the orcs before he was clubbed down.

When he awoke he found himself alone, surrounded by corpses of orcs. As he searched around he found Gregor, slain by many cuts and blows. But not before he fell another 15 orcs. Kendrick was thought to be dead by the orcs, so they left him and their dead companions to the creatures of the forest. Enraged by the death of his friend and the capture of his parents he chased after the only tracks he could find. After two days time he fell to his knees out of exhaustion. Hoping that Gozreh would provide a quick painless death Kenrick fell asleep in the middle of the jungle floor. Woken by the sounds of a creature in pain Kenrick searched the nearby overgrowth for the source of the noise. He soon found a baby Tyrannosaurus, alone, in the middle of the Mwangi expanse. Seeing this as a sign from Gozreh, Kenrick took the baby Tyrannosaurus and cared for it like a sibling. Kenrick moved from village to village listening to the tales of the villagers who had seen the slavers. Kenrick soon found the coast and with it several sailors who told of the slavers. Determined to find his parents he went from boat to boat trying to find passage to the Orcs next destination. Finally he found a boat traveling towards Absalom. With no money in his pocket he snuck aboard until he reached his destination, avoiding the crew and passengers with grace. Once in Absalom he searched in vain for his parents in the slave market to only find they were sold to someone in Tian Xia. Still determined to find his parents Kenrick stole onto another ship heading towards the foreign country. Only to be found out by one of the crew members who heard a certain crate make a roaring sound. The ship dropped him and his companion off at their first stop, Sandpoint.

Kenrick is a dwarf Saurian Shamen with a Tyrannosaurus animal companion. Kenrick has a grimy earthy look to him. He has a beard that reaches to his belly and a hard look in his eyes. At this point in time Kenrick is looking for an easy way to get to Tian Xia while being stranded in Sandpoint.

2. Everyday as much as is needed.

3. I have a little knowlege of AP, mainly about how the story starts. (I have the players guide)

4. My character will have some attacking power, but most comes from his companion. Also he can provide battlefield control with his spells. Outside of combat he will be good at the natural side of things, plants, trees, caves. You name it he knows about it. Also his skill of perception will be unmatched by most. His companion will prove to be an interesting one, seeing as people of Tian Xia might mistake it for a dragon.

5. Seeing how the thug had earlier spilled his drink, (and made bolder by the ale) Kenrick stands up and walks towards the thug. "Now listen here ya great brute, let lone this young tyke or things will get messy quick. I'm sure he has a good excuse for it." Kenrick prepares to whistle for his friend Grunyar if things escalate to violence.

I am currently working on the stat block but my character will be Neutral. He follows what seems to be right at the time.

Grand Lodge

I'm very interested,

1. I'm submitting a human druid, (same template as this one except I'll make a new alias for this one is PFS). She is on a mission to cleanse the world of anomalies that causes an imbalance in the flow. She considers anything that causes chaos a threat to that balance and she would react accordingly. She is a neutral character, if there's a chance that they can settle things diplomatically then she would resort to that although if she sees her friend or companion being threatened then might as well bet that she would be there to come to their aid.

2. Everyday, I am on PST. I can post PST AM and PST late afternoon, I work nightshift.

3. I have no prior knowledge of the AP but I would be intersted in playing one!

4. I'm trying to make her an all-around one, she can help in the wild by knowledge checks, and her survival skills, and she uses her companion to scout. Inside battle, her companion provides damage and flanking, her summons will provide battlefield control too.

5. to be continued

Definitely interested! Posting answers to questions now.

1. I plan on playing a male human oracle of life who received his powers after a brush with the supernatural ended the life of his childhood sweetheart, which he desperately tried to protect. He now uses his powers to help those who cannot help themselves, all the while contemplating the mystery of his 'gift'. This is the extremely threadbare version of the story, which will look like a wall of text that I create when I make his alias, if this doesn't seem too cliche of a background.

2. I usually post 1-3 times a day, but post only once in each thread on Thursdays.

3. I own the AP, but have not went in-depth reading it, as I wanted to play it before I GM'd it. Don't worry, I won't peek like a 4 year-old trying to see what my Christmas present is!

4. As far as character contributions, I will be the rarely chosen 'heal bot' as some people call the play style. I will also provide buffs, present a diplomatic front for the party with high CHA and Diplomacy, and be a back-up melee or caster blaster.

5. Will post once the character alias is complete! Don't want to post without the name figured out!

I'm now seeing what you meant by #4.

My character would be the front line tank of the party in battle, putting myself between the enemies and my more vulnerable friends. I would also try to be the face of the party outside of combat, as I will have somewhat high social skills.

Liberty's Edge

1.
If possible I would like to be descendant or relative to the Kijutsu family. I plan on being a chemist of sorts with a reputation for skill well beyond the years he's lived. I'll be playing an alchemist as far as class, human or half elven, he's in sandpoint to help out at the rusty dragon, adding some kick to the local brewing.

2.
My schedule allows for me to post both in the morning (before 7 am Central time) or in the evenings (after 6:00pm) It is not a problem posting daily and I hope that those involved can also do so.

3.
I played in PFS during the time that the AP was being published (season 3) and have a good feel for Sandpoint from playing in ROTRL that is how I am familiar with Amiko Kaijutso and her brother Tsuto, whom we killed. I don't know much else other than this adventure path has an eastern feel.
4.
In combat I will contribute as a versatile combatant who can drop easily into a melee or ranged roll. Outside of combat I will attempt to add in character planning and provide the group with some mild humor, and sound reasoning. I'll contribute to social encounters, though not very skillfully.

The Scenario
Yeng jumps up atop the bar he had been serving behind, "You! and You! take it outside! No fighting in bar!" Yeng's less than intimidating frame atop the bar does little to frighten the patrons but those who know Yeng know him to be a little too bold in these kinds of situations and has been thrown out of his own front door several times before, however rare is the patron of the Rusty Dragon whose altercations end in serious injury.

Also, you do not mind if characters take the mortification rituals listed in Chronicle of the Righteous, do you? I have 1 or 2 in mind that 'fit the character to a t', so to speak.

Varisian Human Sorceress (Cross-blooded; Arcane and Fey) using the Words of Power system (if available). Reason for being in Sandpoint: Born there! No true backstory yet. Will focus on buffs and debuffs - hampering foes and letting others do the heavy HP damage. Of course a few damage spells will be thrown in for good measure, but it will rarely be straight HP damage. Pretty straight with CG alignment - once in a while I may stray into CN or NG. I will almost certainly not do anything that can be considered close to evil.

Again, this is my weak point. I can't quite guarantee once a day. Considering the attention this has already gotten, I am best considered and alternate (at best).

3 was shared up-thread.

4. Share what you hope to contribute to the game mechanically - both in battles and out of them.

Again - buffs and debuffs and letting others do the HP damage is the focus in combat. Outside, this build has 14 INT, meaning skills are anything but weak, getting 6 a level until level 4 where human favored class bonus kicks in for sorceress (and getting, presumably, a new word each level). I intend to take (with GM permission) Inscribe Magical Tattoo from the Inner Sea World Guide (<---Right?), and will happily pretty anyone up if they can spot the GP (willing to make all tattoos at cost). A little faithful preaching from The Seven Scrolls of Desna never hurt anyone either.

Alika was happily enjoying her drink off to the side of the tavern and sighed the scene. "Now that thief could use a hand - and my drink is getting low..." Taking quick, long strides to get over there Alika walks up next to the brutish man holding her fellow Varisian mid-air. With a soft hand on his arm, she tries to cool him down -

"Careful, there, mate. You'll not want to hurt him, see? He's a friend of one of those Sczarni crime families we Varisians are famous for. You would feel good for a while when you see his face caved in, but when his friends catch word of it...Well - when their friends are hurt they tend to get...irritated." (Initiate bluff roll) Alika hoped the thug would back off just so she wouldn't have to deal with this anymore and also so she could get a free drink from a fellow Varisian.

Ito Diasuke

Background:
As is so often the case when a family with power flees, they are not always able to prevent their loyal followers from, well, following them. When the Kaijutsus fled, Ito Shuichi followed them, bringing his family. Shuichi was the only member of the family to survive the trip. Once the remaining Kaijutsus settled into Sandpoint, apparently to stay, he established a farm, found himself a new wife, and began building a legacy to his loyalty. This legacy was his new children. They worked the farm, were trained in their father's art, and were told of the debt their family owed to Ameiko's and their inability to repay it except by protecting her (and any family that she has). When someone is built up to be that big and important in a young man's life, especially when that someone is an attractive woman, the young man naturally forms certain emotional attachments, especially if the woman involved doesn't really notice him as anything special.

Human (Min Kai) Ninja

A slender young man with dark hair and eyes, whose complexion just looks slightly off from those around him. He looks like what he has been raised as, a poor farmer.

Born and raised on a farm on the edge of Sandpoint.

2. Share how often you can post. As I've seen on RPOL, slow-posting games die quick deaths. I'm asking for a minimum of one-post per 24 hours.

Normally only in the evenings during the week. Once or more depending on timing and other people's activities through the evening. The weekends allow for more active posting, currently.

3. Share how familiar you are with the AP - and be honest. Having prior knowledge of the plot isn't going to keep you from getting in, but it does help me get a sense of what my players know going into the game.

Well . . .. I have completed it as a player. We did a FtF group that took a little more than a year to get through all of it. I am approaching this character and the role in the party very differently from what any of the characters in that group were or did. (two-weapon fighter wakizashi specialist [mine], synthesist summoner/paladin, trapper ranger/sorcerer/arcane archer, and witch [our primary healer] - The 3 of us could deal an AWFUL lot of damage in a round.)

4. Share what you hope to contribute to the game mechanically - both in battles and out of them.

In combat I expect to provide a combat support role, getting involved in the fighting, but not being a consistently major damage dealer. The availability of appropriate poisons and sneak attacks can, naturally, adjust that frequency up.

Out of combat I intend to provide the trap finding, disabling, stealth and scouting skills which every traveling group is likely to eventually need.

5. Provide an in-character response to the following "scenario."

Reaction:
Glancing about the room, Diasuke saw no signs that anyone else was going to provide the requested assistance. Thinking about impressing Ameiko, and not thinking about how angry his father would get, the young man picked up a bowl and mug and scurried across the tavern room as quickly as he could manage. "Very good! You caught the cheat! Put him down and have this drink and this stew, and we'll get you your reward here in a moment." As he spoke, the young man pushed the bowl and mug into the large brute's face, forcing him to either retreat or use his hands to get them out of the way. Being an already angry, large brute, the tattooed man didn't retreat, but he dropped the small Varisian in order to knock the bowl and mug away. Naturally, he immediately turned his attention to the new, small annoyance.

Daisuke slipped under and across the next table over, turning to see if the brute's attention remained diverted long enough for the Varisisan to flee or not. He saw that the brute had stopped and was looking around him for something, while the Varisian (under the table where the game had been being played) was reaching for the brute's purse. "I thought you wanted the reward for catching the cheat? Come with me! I'll help you claim it." He spun another plate at the brute, catching him in the side, which was enough to get the brute to stop looking for the Varisian and give chase. Daisuke used his size and flexibility to work his way quickly through the crowd, leading the angry brute outside. Once outside, Daisuke got enough of a lead so that he could pop around a corner just after the brute left the tavern.

That plan worked well enough, except that there was no where discrete to hide just around that corner, so the young farmer had to keep running. A few more turns through the low end of Sandpoint, and Daisuke had managed to lose the brute. He decided to head back to the Rusty Dragon and see if the bard or his brother would reward his efforts. Regaining line of sight to the tavern, though, Daisuke saw the brute crossing the threshold as he returned inside. Now THAT didn't work as expected, did it? Guess it is time to head home after all.

(This is Olmek.)

This is my finished Honor Guard Cavalier, Tatsuo Fullona.

Thanks for your consideration. :)

Dark Archive

Dotting for interest. Will have a character submitted before tomorrow evening. Very interested in playing this AP, though!

1. Come up with a character concept (obviously). This includes your background (this can be basic - I don't need a novel if you don't already have one), race, class, appearance and reason for being in Sandpoint. You don't need to have a completed stat block to apply.

Elven monk (zen archer) named Tanestatia. She is a beautiful elf with golden hair and blue eyes and is in Sandpoint because she is on the trail of her long-missing brother, last spotted in these parts.

2. Share how often you can post. As I've seen on RPOL, slow-posting games die quick deaths. I'm asking for a minimum of one-post per 24 hours.

I can post daily on most days, and probably more often than that. If I will be unavailable for at least 24 hours, I will give prior notice and let the GM GMPC me.

3. Share how familiar you are with the AP - and be honest. Having prior knowledge of the plot isn't going to keep you from getting in, but it does help me get a sense of what my players know going into the game.

I have thoroughly read the Player's Guide.

4. Share what you hope to contribute to the game mechanically - both in battles and out of them.

Bringing a zen archer to the table, obviously my focus will be on ranged combat, controlling the battlefield through well-placed arrows. Out of combat, I am a strong role-player. I have been gaming (mostly as a GM) for more than 35 years.

Suddenly, a large, tattooed thug stands from the game and bellows,
"Ya filthy cheat! You think you can just smile at me and take my gold? I don' think so!" He lifts his accused from his seat - a slight Varisian male seemingly less than half his size.

The bard stops playing immediately and points at the scene. "Someone, help my brother from that brute!"

Humans! the elf thinks as she sips her wine. She initially takes little notice of the fight until she glances over and sees how mismatched the clash is. At that point, she sets her glass down and stands to her full height.

"Excuse me," she says in accented Common, "I believe that the object of the game is to bluff the other player. That being the case, smiling and taking your gold is exactly the point, don't you think?"

Moving to the big thug, she says, "Why not pick on someone your own size?" As she speaks, she assumes a fighting stance.

5. Upon seeing her lion growling at the thug,
"Let's not jump into conclusions,"

She will approach the pair in a calm manner and tone,
"Let's not break things now, why don't we all sit down and have fun. What seems to be the problem?"

"Um wait, you guys are playing liar's dice and you will get mad if he's cheating? Isn't that the rule of the game? So put him down and accept your loss,"

This is WhtKnt, under the alias I will be using for this game. My character stat block is attached to the profile and I have the Hero Lab .por file if that makes things simpler for you. Thank you for your consideration.

Here is Kenrick Giemfind and Grunyar, thanks for the consideration. (The stats are not posted as of yet but will be shortly and this will be edited)

1. Character Concept:

Kenner was born and raised in Magnimar to a wealthy mercantile family. A bookish, reclusive child he was at constant odds with his family, having no interest in taking up the family trade. This came to a head when Kenner made the choice to cut himself from inheritance, and enrol in the mage's college. He has since graduated and left Magnimar to enjoy a newfound sense of wanderlust.

After some misadventures he found himself in Sandpoint, drawn to the history and character of the town. There, he was delighted to encounter an old family friend in Koya, whose family had a long history with Kenner's own. Months passed with Kenner doing odd jobs around the town, and forming a close friendship with Koya, both of them speaking of their wish to travel.

One day, Koya broached the subject of Kenner's father, and a broken promise. One of her mother Niska's last wishes before her death was that Kenner's father accompany Koya on her travels. It was clear that promise would not be kept. Kenner shouldered the sins of his father, and has pledged to follow Koya wherever she may go.

2. I can post minimum once a day, often much more.

3. I've read the player's guide. That's it.

4. Kenner will be a conjuration specialist wizard. So as such his battle skills will largely be about utility, buffing, and battlefield control. Maybe a few big boom spells 'cause I love him. But his job is mostly going to be setting things up so the frontliners can mow down the baddies with ease.

Scenario Response:

Kenner's knuckles go white as he looks over the scene.

This could get bad... I... I think I can intervene. Everyone is scared of wizards. Koya said that ill fortune comes to those who sit idly by.

He swallows a large gulp of ale, slaps his hands on the bar, and stands.

"You..." his voice comes out as a squeak as he approaches the thug, a hand his component pouch. He quickly whispers a prestidigitation and his eyes glow red.

"Put him down and resolve this peacefully! I require concentration for my magical studies and my temper will not handle this sort of interruption! Behave yourself unless you want to live out the rest of your days as a turnip."

"Okay, if he charges me, color spray. Pleasedon'tkillmepleasedon'tkillmepleasedon'tkillme..."

1. Come up with a character concept
Veridian is an elven (warden) ranger. He is a protector of the woods from evils insidious influence, following in the footsteps of his hero and childhood savior Shalelu Andosana. He is a young, tall elf man with a long white hair often tied in a braid. He has been using the outlands around sandpoint as his base of operations.
2. Share how often you can post Once or twice daily is no problemo.
3. Share how familiar you are with the AP Very little. I know it begins in Sandpoint, which I have used as campaign seeting in many games as DM. Very familiar with basic NPC's of that place. No exposure to JR storyline beyond that.
4. Share what you hope to contribute to the game mechanically IC will be ranged attack with enough muscle to melee if necessary. Plan on taking the bow related Feats. Out of combat, stealth, tracking, woodcraft etc as befits a ranger.
5. Provide an in-character response to the following "scenario."
Veridian took in the scene, sighing inside. "Why were these loud humans always tussling with one another over money?" Although that was the way of nature, he knew he had to intervene rather than see the weaker man pummeled and beaten by the stronger. Unwillingly, he stepped over to the muscle-bound brute:"You might consider picking on someome more in your league, like me...Put this man down, and let's see how much you like a challenge.". Veridian invited the big man outside where no one else would be hurt, measuring him, gauging his movements. As they circled each other in the street, a quick feint and the opening appeared. Quick as a flash, the dagger was in Veridian's hand and up against the man's throat. "Maybe it's time you took a walk, friend." the elf whispered in the brute's ear. Now finally, he could have that drink...

I'm considering the following:

Ishikawa Kaijutsu, NG Sword-Saint archetype Samurai

A male Tien human (or half-elf, depends!). He's tall and thin yet wrapped in corded muscle. He carries a family heirloom of the Kaijutsu family on his hip in a Varisian patterned waistband, or obi-- a long curved blade known as a katana in places not here, where it's more aptly described as a fancy brittle longsword. Short black hair frames a boyishly handsome face. Always polite and always cool-headed, Ishi acts definitively on his feelings-- sometimes perhaps too quickly to have thought them through.

This character would be Ameiko's little brother. A bit fixated on the "way of the sword" and the concept of honor and the idealized "bushido" code, he would mechanically belong to the Order of the Shield. Of course, he's young and childish, thinks he's more clever than he should and definitely enjoys the spotlight a bit too much. Arrogant is too formal-- he's just cocky. He'll have to grow into the code to really begin to personify it.

Ishi, as he's known, tries to live up to his sister's and his family's expectations by being helpful-- at whatever they ask, really. He dreams of going on an adventure, of seeing something new and exciting and of living a life that bards would sing about. Stuck in Sandpoint isn't how he wants to live his life-- his worst fear is ending up neurotic and tyrannical like his father.

2. Share how often you can post. As I've seen on RPOL, slow-posting games die quick deaths. I'm asking for a minimum of one-post per 24 hours.

Acceptable! I'm normally extremely on point during combat and a fair bit lax outside of it; I can meet those posting requirements easily.

Very. I've run the majority of the AP from the end (last encounter) of Book 2 onwards.

Quote:
4. Share what you hope to contribute to the game mechanically - both in battles and out of them.

In battles, Ishi is a tank build character meant to bear the brunt of combat across his back. Taking Combat Reflexes early, I plan to use Stem the Tide to force battles to occur where I want them to (and to lock down spellcasting characters), using challenge, the katana's large crit threat range and iaijutsu strike to deal with enemies swiftly.

Ishi can convert damage to nonlethal, which is beneficial towards a life oracle life bond build or to any group healing build or even to a group without magical healing. When he goes down, he's going unconscious, not dying, so that's a plus! He has resolve to aid in Fort and Will saving throws and to deal with going unconscious or negative status effects.

Out of combat, Ishi is a social character with Diplomacy, Bluff, Sense Motive, Knowledge (local) and Intimidate. With a more Charisma-aligned character, he would be a constant source of aid another. Add on a few ranks of Climb and Swim and Ishi is set to be a party face or secondary leader.

The bard stops playing immediately and points at the scene. "Someone, help my brother from that brute!"

Ameiko's younger brother remains calm, quickly standing and holding out a hand. "Wait!" he shouts, and lets the word hang in the air for a moment before navigating a circle around the table he was seated at. Holding up a hand, he holds up one finger. " First, there's no violence in the Dragon. If you want to take it outside, take it outside. But on that note, do you have proof? It's difficult to lose; luck sometimes turns against us all."

He approaches the burly thug with a mischievous smile. "Second? Set the man down; I'll treat you to a drink, on the house, to help cool your temper and soothe the loss. I'm sure my sister won't mind and I'm sure you could use another."

"Plus, I'm sure you don't want to do something you'd regret?" He helps the short Varisian back into his seat, straightening out his clothes with utmost seriousness-- like he's handling a bucket of axe blades. "Sorry, sir. I'm very sorry. I apologize for the incident. I promise, it won't happen again."

He takes the burly thug to the bar by the shoulder, forcing him if he has to. When they're out of earshot, he turns to the table, exasperation across his face. "That was close. You didn't know who he was? He's the Magnimarian bantamweight boxing champion down in the boondocks for a miniature vacation. I saw him punch the head off of a scarecrow last night, and he was blindfolded, drunk and laying down! I'm not saying you should be grateful I got you out of that in one piece, but really, just enjoy the drink and try to keep it cool tonight, alright sir?"

I'd like to throw in a submission for this campaign too, if I may and it isn't too late. Will post a profile shortly and provide answers to GM Cello's questions when I do so. Thinking of a skills-based character, probably a bard.

Not sure if it matters, but I would like to put in a good word for both Ice Titan and Aziza Plumbockett, who are my players in separate ROTRL campaigns I run currently.

They both are regular posters, have a good sense of humor, understand the rules, and make interesting/thought provoking posts. Other than the one incident with genetically-engineered hornets, they have been drama-free (in a good way) players also. (jk about the hornets...)

I like them so well, I have extra-specially invited both to a CotCT campaign I will be starting soon. I encourage you to look at their applications carefully, and wouldn't be surprised if you choose them over me, if it came down to it.

Those were perfectly good radioactive killer mutant wasps! It's not my fault my stupid minions released them too early and they swarmed over the other arcane spellcasters who had applied for your Rise of the Runelords campaign. I sent them all flowers in hospital afterwards to apologize, you know... um... maybe I should've checked the bouquets for stray hornets first.

Thanks for the testimonial, Doc! If we both end up being selected to play by GM Cello, then it'll be good to RP with you too... you know, without you constantly spoiling things by trying to kill me with hordes of goblins. :)

1. Concept is included in the alias. I know it's not really a winning strategy to offer up a ready made character, but this is one I really enjoyed playing in the time I was able to.

2. I can post every day, but I can't promise at a specific time, and certainly can't promise more than that.

3. This character was made for a Jade Regent game, I've spoilered my progress, even though it was still the first book.

Progress in Jade Regent:
The game petered out when we were investigating the goblins' supply of fireworks. We got to the second ship, the one where the skeletons animate.

4. Aldel will be the big guy of the group, in and out of combat. His training compels him to protect the weak, though his personality would prefer to stay out of things and be left alone. He is a damage dealer primarily, with some crowd control coming from his intimidation skill. I haven't decided yet whether his level one feat should be heavy armor proficiency or intimidating prowess, the one I don't take now will be picked up at the first opportunity.

5. Aldel sat quietly, for a moment, while a debate raged inside him. One side demanded that he do something, stop the fight, protect the small man, the other said that he hadn't come here for this, he just wanted to be left alone. The first side countered that the Dawnflower didn't take days off, and neither should he. Besides, Ameiko deserved better than this.

Aldel got to his feet and slammed his fist on the table. "Enough!" he shouted, both to quiet the internal debate and to draw attention to himself. He approached the table, looking as menacing as he was able. "There will be no fighting here! If you think he is a cheat, don't play." He stood close by the large man, hand near his sword to indicate he meant business.

@GM Cello

Arrival at Sandpoint:

Avan had been walking for the better part of the day, he has been directed to Sandpoint by a traveling caravan, that has apparently departed from the town quite recently. The sun's rays were beating down on his body, and the few strands of cloud in the sky were too weak and out of touch with each other to provide him with any kind cover from these beams of light, it was only the trees of this forest that provided him with any kind of respite from this weather.

Not counting the caravan it has been a quiet day, which is something Raul was enjoying. The martial artist slowly began to lose himself in his sea of thoughts, reaching out to remember things of interest and pondering old questions he has found no answers to. It seemed to him that the sound of his footsteps, was the only foreign source of noise in the area, but that was soon remedied by the thundering pounding of horse hooves, taken out of his reverie by the sudden explosion of sound Avan turned towards the source of the noise and stood his ground knowing that he could not possibly outrun a horse, as soon as the riders were close enough he jumped to the side and landed with aroll, skillfully avoiding being trampled.

The blond man looked at his attackers who swiftly turned and were eager to try again, this time Avan had time to count their number, eight orcs, well armed and armored "bounty hunters from Urglin Thought the martial artist as he prepared himself for their second charge. Deep down he could feel that he could not possibly take them all down on his own...but nonetheless he would take down as many of them as he could.

The whistling sound of an arrow pierced the air, and Avan saw one of the riders fall from his horse, his neck decorated by a wooden shaft with feathers at its end, his companions began dispersing to avoid becoming easy targets for the mysterious archer, it was only then that one of them noticed that their target was no where to be seen.

"The human is gone" He growled in orcish, but his companions were too focused on finding the archer to bother with his warning, as he turned with the animal he was riding to fully take in this area, a shadow pounced on him from a near by tree, the shadow's limb extended and slammed into his throat, effectively silencing and killing him.

The other orcs turned to see Avan running away from them, and just like before another arrow came but this time it wasn't alone. Two more orcs fell, the bounty hunters were growing nervous, they had not planned for an ambush.

"I am out of here" One of them spoke as he turned with his horse and prepared to escape, this plan never bared fruit as his companions saw him dropping from his saddle with an arrow planted into his back. Silence took the land as the four remaining green skinned orcs jumped off their saddles and took shelter in the many trees that surrounded them.

Another arrow flew threw the air and soon enough the sound of its whispering flight was followed by a shrill scream that echoed across the forest. The bounty hunters that remained among the living knew that one more of their number has perished. The third made a nervous dash, uncaring about the direction he was heading in, a sickening crunch filled the quiet forest, and the sound of his nervous foot steps halted, several more pounding and bludgeoning sounds followed.

Being the only two left of their company, the orcs began moving together, stepping out of the shade of one tree only to be welcomed by another, Avan's brown eyes easily found their location from his own hiding place and prepared himself to strike, but before he could act his eyes caught sight of a lithe frame descend from the trees above in a forward somersault, he could see that she was an elf, a being of wild beauty, and others would argue that the flash of steel that she brought down upon the neck of the orc with her landing was equally beautiful. The last bounty hunters was stunned for but a moment as the blood of his companion marred his face, but that was all the time she needed to plunge her sword into his chest.

Seconds Later...

"What do I owe you? Asked Avan, in a voice so devoid of emotion, that one would think that he was asking a merchant about an item he wanted to buy.

The elf looked at him strangely, the tone of voice this man was using and the words he chose were something she never expected from a person she has just saved "Are you mocking me?" she asked, the annoyance she felt was mirrored clearly in her voice.

"You saved my life" He began, making the elf slightly reconsider the strangeness she felt about him, as those words felt like something a person would say when placed in this situation "You obviously want something in return, what is it?" and he quickly dashed any sort of reconsideration she began to form about him to pieces.

The elven woman did not know where to begin, this whole situation reeked of the bizarre "Before I even begin telling you how insane you sound, how about you start with a thank you" she placed a hand over her head and sighed, while she tried to figure out the enigma of a man that was before her.

"So you save people to be thanked? It--"

She roughly grabbed the collar of his cheep looking tunic and pulled him closer "Do you make a habit of mocking people who save your life? Or has the situation driven you mad?" Her voice was laced with the fire of anger, here she was; being insulted by someone she just saved! She never thought she'd ever be in such a situation.

"I am not mocking you" He spoke once more, the tone he used was a twin of the one he began the conversation with "When someone gives you something, they obviously want something in return, so I--" She pushed him away, feeling that she'd gut him if she did not let go of him at that very moment.

"Understand this..." She began, but stopped slightly when she noticed the gaze in his eyes; his face was an emotionless mask ever since she met him, but his eyes had a look of mistrust, it was like he expected the whole world to turn on him on any moment. The elven woman calmed her self and reigned in the mount of rage she was about to ride "I did not save you for any sort of reward or thanks, I simply saw that you were in trouble and decided to help" she answered, the tone of her voice carrying the slight taint of annoyance, but it was either that or scream every word to the entire forest along with him.

The mistrustful gaze remained that did not surprise her, but there was something else now: curiosity, he also began rubbing the light stubble that ran along his jaw So she is like the halfling? He thought, and was soon lost in his own thoughts, leaving his eyes trained on the one who saved his life, but his thoughts taking him far far away from her.

"Who are you? Why were these orcs following you?" She asked the annoyance in her voice only growing stronger as he simply looked at or past her she could not really tell, she did not have the time to try and figure this man out, so she hoped that he could at least find out who he was and deal with him depending on the answer.

"My name is Avan, an escaped gladiator from Urglin" The question returned him to his current situation and he quickly answered, a hint of curiosity still in his eyes.

"Such an honest answer from someone who seems so mistrustful" She replied, surprised by his quick and non-hesitant answer "You can follow me if you like, I am heading to Sandpoint...and no I want nothing in return for leading you there" She began walking away from the man and the scene of carnage she created.

At the Rusty Dragon

"So Shalelu saved your life eh?" Asked the woman behind the counter, her voice friendly and welcoming.

Avan looked at her like she has spoken something beyond understanding "She just told you about what happened, are you that forgetful?" He asked, before taking a sip from the glass of water that offered to him.

"No I am....no matter" Ameiko opted not to explain that that was a conversations starter. She watched as several minutes of awkward silence passed by.

"Is this her home? Asked Avan, a small hint of curiosity in his usually emotionless tone of speech.

"No but she does stay here from time to time, she's an old friend" Answered the owner of the Rusty Dragon as she began cleaning one of the glasses at the counter.

"What sort of work is she involved in?" The blond man launched another inquiry at Ameiko, who stared at him with a glint of surprise in her eye, not expecting the sudden talkativeness that has dawned upon him.

"Well you could say that she helps protect the town" She answered, while returning the glass to one of the store cabinets.

Avan began rubbing his light stubble "why?" He asked honestly pondering why someone of such ability would use it for the benefit of others and not herself.

"Oh I don't know, she's never given a specific reason" She answered "but when it comes down to it, do you really need a reason to help people?" she continued her answer with a question of her own.

For the longest time Avan continued sitting at the stool in silence, only moving to breath and occasionally rub his stubble, Customers entered, candles were lit, the fire place was revived with a roaring warm flame, Customers left, candles were blown out and the fire place was reduced to charred wood and a few burning embers. The question Ameiko has offered him confounded him to no end, it clashed with every thing he thought he knew about life, This makes no sense, people help others because they want something in return The phantoms of his gladiatorial master, his teacher and the numerous crowds that cheered for the pain and death he dealt in the arena surrounded him She's a fool and so is anyone who thinks so... Avan felt his familiar cold logic return to him once more, and the phantoms of his past became clearer still, but amongst all these were two distinct ones that were clearer than the rest, one was the halfling smuggler and the other was the elven ranger Shalelu...She could not be a fool, and he was not either, people so strong, skilled and intelligent could not possibly be fools The mental struggle within him was clearly far from over.

Ameiko occasionally glanced at him while she worked, but after all her customers left or went to bed she decided to break him out of whatever trance he's been under.

"Feel like returning anytime soon Avan?" She asked with a bit of humor in her voice.

"She cares about this town doesn't she?" He asked, his eyes still not focusing on anything in particular, resolving to ponder this question at a later time, as he could not possibly find an answer to it in just one night...instead he decided to depend on something he was not used to utilizing his feelings, he remembered feeling this way, it was after leaving the halfling smuggler's company, he felt that he wanted to help him somehow...not because he expected but because he felt it was....Right? He was going in circles again, he placed his hands to his head, this is how he felt towards Shalelu now.

"I thought I made that pretty clear hours ago, are you that forgetful?" She giggled, as she began cleaning the counter one last time.

If she cares about protecting this place that much, maybe I can help her do it He began staring at the ceiling I don't know what else to do

"So do you have a place to stay?" Asked the owner of the Rusty Dragon.

"No He answered, his eyes focusing on her once more.

"Okay I can let you stay the night for free, you planning to stay for long?" She asked clearly curious about the decision of the strange man that entered her inn hours ago.

"Yes" He answered after hesitating for a few seconds.

"You're going to need a job if you want to stay in this town, the sheriff hates freeloaders, any particular skills?" Ameiko sat at a stool that was hidden the from the viewing eyes of the customers by the counter she just cleaned.

"I can fight" This answer came without hesitation.

"Hmmm..." she placed her hand to her chin and closed her eyes "I don't really need a bouncer but I guess hiring one could give me more time to focus on other things besides breaking up fights" Said Ameiko, giving a possible solution to Avan's unemployment.

"Then why would you..." Avan noticed a cunning smile on Ameiko's face "You don't need a reason to help people" He answered his own query and Ameiko nodded. Her way of thinking was so foreign to him, it almost felt like he entered another world.

This should pretty much explain why a person like Avan would be interested in protecting Sandpoint. Sorry I haven't worked on the requested scenario yet, I'll be sure to post it today or tomorrow.

Presenting for your consideration Calandra 'Cally' Pertwee, halfling bard, jinx and would-be adventuress.

Cally was fostered out to Ameiko to be apprenticed as a bard, after her parents found that the only thing that kept the young girl from wreaking more havoc with her jinx abilities was her fascination with music, a ploy which seems to have succeeded. Cally now sees Ameiko not only as her mistress, but also the big sister she never had as a child, and this feeling seems to be reciprocated by the Tian bard. Nevertheless her jinx blood seems to be continually enticing Cally into trouble, and it probably won't be too long before the whispering call of Chaldira Zuzaristan, halfling goddess of misadventures, lures the girl away into some adventure or other.

2. Share how often you can post. As I've seen on RPOL, slow-posting games die quick deaths. I'm asking for a minimum of one-post per 24 hours.

I'm a pretty regular poster to the active campaigns I've joined over the last few months; at present I manage one or two posts per day in two campaigns, but a third one I'm in seems to be slowly dying due to several players dropping out.

GM Cello wrote:
3. Share how familiar you are with the AP - and be honest. Having prior knowledge of the plot isn't going to keep you from getting in, but it does help me get a sense of what my players know going into the game.

I've never played, read or GM'd the Jade Regent AP. Although I'm familiar with Sandpoint and some of the NPCs from Doc Evil's RotRL campaign, Jade Regent is still virgin ground to me.

4. Share what you hope to contribute to the game mechanically - both in battles and out of them.

Mechanically I see Cally as supplying the typical support capabilities of a bard to any group, using bardic abilities and spells in combat to aid the better armed and armored combatants and other spellcasters, and employing her skills and bardic knowledge to help move the plot along outside of combat.

Hearing the drunken thug's roar of fury, and the cry to help the victim, Cally dashes from behind the bar, where she was helping her aunt, Bethana, to serve drinks and heads towards the commotion. Jumping up onto the bench facing the tattooed thug, Cally waves her hands at him for attention and yells "Oi! Cut that out right this minute you big lunks... you're spoiling the song for everyone else, and making fools of yourselves. Now put him down, matey, and we'll talk about this... sensibly, alright?" Cally gives him her most winsome smile while at the same time casting her charm person spell to try and break up the fight before it starts... the matter of cheating could be sorted out once things had calmed down, and Lars had had time to get there with his club to back her up.

background:
Valarian is proof of the lengths a Chelexian mother will go for her child. For his mother Kasandra while he was in the womb sealed a pact with Orcus, what price she paid he does not know but what Valarian received he knows all to well. Kasandra had purchased a bearth on ship bound for Varisa, then they made their way to Sandpoint where Kasandra set up a small magic store. Tragedy struck at age six when his mother died of a plague, Valarian survived the next few years by feeding on table scraps and sleeping in abandoned building.

Ameiko was in a large part responsible for getting him through the winter alive, she often brought food and drink when he needed it for this he is grateful. At age twelve Valarian had his dream, in it a voice whispering in demonic told him to go the graveyard at midnight each night. He went to the graveyard that night at the outskirts of Sandpoint and found his mentor, a decayed lich and cleric of orcus. She called herself Drangegi and itwas her duty per the stipulations of the pact to train him.

She did and for years he suffered and endured her teachings, learning the power of undeath and unlife. By age eighteen his training was complete nad the lich gave him a final gift, a amulet wrought of blood, bone and the flesh of the undead. The amulet was horrific but he took it, he had not spent years of pain for nothing. He departed the graveyard and began to again speak to others as the training had long absorbed his focus. The time had come to speak with others such as Ameiko.

note and tavern:

CN represents Valarians general I lack social expertise and I have studied with undead. It also represents that while he is not evil he is more then willing to employ his powers to defend himself and he will use them to their full extent (summoning undead).

Valarian was drinking at the bar when a brute came through the door shouting at one man Ye cheat! Valarian liked the relative calm of the inn and this idiot was disturbing it. Valarian made a motioned with his hands and unleashed a black ray that turned the man's muscles to jelly. Then he punched the man in the stomach and pushed him out the door, after that Valarian went back to his drink and food.

Here's a character I made for a low magic campaign. It fell through fast. Basically i was going for a backwater arcane survivalist. I assume lotion crafting is permitted? What about before start crafting?
And can I get some info on Sandpoint to answer that question?

Character is now updated and ready for perusal.

1. Concept in the character.
2. I can post at least once a day, more depending on the time of day.
3. As I said, I've played up until the point the characters are ready to depart Sandpoint.
4. I think my character will try to be the heart and soul of the party, everyones friend and confidant, and the designated joker.

Reposting:
""Hold on there big fellow, now why go ruining a perfectly good evening by throwing accusations around like that? Tell you what, why don't we make it interesting?
I challenge you to a knife tossing contest. You win and I'll cover your losses, I win and we call it even and say no more about it. Win or lose, I'll buy you both a drink and we can all be friends, what do you say?"

If the man seems amiable to the suggestion, a game of knife toss will comence, if not, Ruhk will shrug, smile and atempt to sucker punch the big man to distract him from the small guy.
A game of chance or a barbrawl, either way, I will have fun, and that's a win for me.

Don't have a alias up yet, so here it is for now.

1. Come up with a character concept (obviously). This includes your background (this can be basic - I don't need a novel if you don't already have one), race, class, appearance and reason for being in Sandpoint. You don't need to have a completed stat block to apply.:

Mei is a Human Rogue using the Snare Setter archetype. She uses the Racial Heritage feat to in this case represent the fact she was raised by a kobold trapsmith who lived just outside the town of Wartle. She became the pupil and servant of this renegade kobold when her parents traded her to him in exchange for his help to evade persecution by Magnimar and to keep themselves and their other children safe. He succeeded and covered their escape to Riddleport.
Initially intending to keep her as his personal slave Mei quickly proved her worth to the little reptile as well as a cunning insight he hadn't expected in a pink skin. He chose to adopt her as his own, lacking any form of clan as result of being an outcast.
All went well until a client of her mentor decided he'd simply not pay for the received service. Her mentor responded by killing the man which in turn resulted in the town coming after him whereas they previously tolerated him because his clients brought commerce to the town. Mei managed to flee while her mentor blew himself and half the men that came after him to bits using one of his traps.
Only fourteen years old Mei fled west on her own. She survived out in the woods for a while, using the skills she had learned to trap animals for food. Eventually her handiwork was noticed by Shalelu, who expected a kobold due to the design of the traps. They talked and the Elven woman actually decided to take the girl under her wing, teach her how to survive out in the wild.
These day Mei works out of Sandpoint as a trapper, selling hides and meat from her own catches as well as traps to either keep all sorts of pests from people's properties.

2. Share how often you can post. As I've seen on RPOL, slow-posting games die quick deaths. I'm asking for a minimum of one-post per 24 hours.:
Should be more than doable. I must say though, I'm strongly opposed to posting just for posting's sake and if there is nothing to add I might stay silent

3. Share how familiar you are with the AP - and be honest. Having prior knowledge of the plot isn't going to keep you from getting in, but it does help me get a sense of what my players know going into the game. :
I know the part up to the point when they go to the goblin village, that's it

4. Share what you hope to contribute to the game mechanically - both in battles and out of them.:

In combat Mei tries to utilize her traps where she can and will attempt to drive opponents to them. She'll try to either take out soft targets or lock down bigger targets.
Outside of comabt Mei is a master at trap removal and securing a camp site. She also is a good hunter, being used to have to provide for herself. She also makes for a very good scout.

5. Provide an in-character response to the following "scenario." This is designed to give me a sense of your voice as a player and your personality as a character. Your response will have no bearing on the story or future implications for your character.

Mei stands up from the table where she was playing with the two men who were the source of the current mess, "Let the man down. He can't help it you're thick as a brick." She grinned widely as she walked around the table, carefully pocketing some of the threatened man's hard won money. She patted the thug on his shoulder, "Just put the pipsqueak down, we'll grab another drink, I'm buying."

1. Details of the character are in the profile.

2. I can post several times daily.

3. I know little about the AP. I've skimmed the Players Guide but I don't like reading them as I feel they give too much away.

4. In combat: Seph is a skirmisher. Out of combat, he's a skill-monkey, face and general utility peep.

The Scenario:

The Rusty Dragon is filled with patrons gleefully drinking, eating and conversing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

The young man is basking in the glow of his sixth - or was it seventh? - mug of wine. Sat next to him, and equally as inebriated, is a young woman whom he'd met just recently. The two sit close, talking between themselves, sharing jokes and laughing together.

The convivial atmosphere of the tavern heighten their good moods.

Seph feigns a yawn, allowing one of his outstretched arms to settle round the girl's shoulders. She gives him a dig in the ribs; he reacts as though he's been run through.
"Tired, old man?" she teases.
"Yes, your conversation is most vapid.". Seph grins. The pair lock eyes.

"YA FILTHY CHEAT! YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST SMILE AT ME AND TAKE MY GOLD? I DON' THINK SO!"

The moment interrupted, both heads snap over to the source of the commotion.

"Someone, help my brother from that brute!"

"Seph, do something.". Seph's companion gives Seph a gentle shove. He turns to face her.
"Cal, look at me.". The girl looks Seph up and down.
"Now look at him." The girl looks over to the tattooed man.
"Now look at me." She complies.
"Him, big. Me, not so big. Understand?" A smile playing across his face, Seph talks slowly, as though to a child.
"So, you're just gonna sit there?"
"No, I'm just gonna pull you close to me and protect you from the undesirable elements of this establishment, like the hero that I am."
With that, he pulls her closer.
"I feel safer already."
"Indeed."

The pair grin at each other and then look over at the gamblers. By this time, the landlord has intervened, calming the situation with the promise of free drinks.

The young couple enjoy the rest of their evening.

Heh. I figured it was my annoying refusal to select a personal avatar that got me overlooked. I just couldn't resist poking the bear.

Either that, or the relative newness of our group had you reserving judgement.

And your game is quite entertaining.
