DMPC Pulsifer:

I was suggesting you should retcon in a double move last turn.... So:

Pulsifer moves (from Q18) to a position between the well and Calebra (R24) and casts Mage Armor on himself.

Round 4

Don't forget those flank bonuses.

Let the fun begin:

INIT RANK:

16 Calebra
8 The Deceiver: Init +7 (DEX 16)
5 Ryor Saar'Narlok: Init +4 (DEX 18)
4 Aref Sami Sharokh: Init +3 (DEX 16)
4 Bhuka: Init +3 (DEX 16)
4 Sydley Hentooth: Init +2 (DEX 14)
2 Rackham Pulsifer: Init +1 (DEX 13)
2 Jon Qiang: Init +1 (DEX 12)
1 Bohdan: Init +0 (DEX 10)

>>>>>MAP<<<<<

A growl builds from within the sphinx building like an avalanche. The roar is of such power that the floor shakes and your ears, no doubt, will ring for weeks. Panic grips you as the floor trembles beneath.

DC 14 Will Save for everyone. If you make it there is no effect; if you fail see below:

Spoiler:
(IF YOU FAIL DON'T FORGET YOUR ACTION POINTS - LEVEL 3 IS COMING SOON, you can add 1d6 to the failed saving roll by blowing an action point.) If you still fail your roll you are panicked: A panicked creature must drop anything it holds and flee at top speed from the source of its fear, as well as any other dangers it encounters, along a random path. It can’t take any other actions. In addition, the creature takes a –2 penalty on all saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks. If cornered, a panicked creature cowers and does not attack, typically using the total defense action in combat. A panicked creature can use special abilities, including spells, to flee; indeed, the creature must use such means if they are the only way to escape.

After the roar Calebra lashes at Jon again. The first blow cuts into his breastplate but doesn't draw blood, the second is a powerful swing to his left arm that trails blood spray as Calebra recovers the swing.

1d20 9=17, 1d6 4=8, 1d20 9=21, 1d6 4=10

His own blood covering his armor, somehow the huge Tian warrior remains standing.

Ignoring the roar of Calebra Bohdan again calls out to his heavenly mistress, a prayer people also heard on the beach when the group was assaulted by the large ants, a prayer to bless and help those who stand on her servant's side in this battle. To show his own courage, Bohdan moves into the room fully, preparing to charge into the fray.

Will save (1d20+6=22)
Cast Bless, everyone should be covered. So basically it's in effect from the next round since I go last. I also move to R25, preparing to set up a charge (hint, hint, leave a space open by Calebra ;-))

Leaving a trail of blood behind him Wetsands continues running toward the battle, almost slipping in his own blood as he corners to O23.

The other three Bhuka continue harrying the huge beast with their axes and short swords but none of them are able to hit. They circle around behind Calebra while fighting. (5 foot steps to reinforce the flank)

1d20 4=11, 1d6=5, 1d20 4=11, 1d6=1, 1d20 4=8, 1d6=3

Awaiting Cordoba, Ryor, Aref, Syd, Pulsifer, and Jon.

Will saves and actions.

Will (1d20+4=15)

The Deceiver runs to the next chamber as fast as he can (P24).

Male Human Sorceror 3 EXP-3450

So you are ruling for a partial round(move or attack), full round, partial round(the other from the first). I like that. OK, that works out.

1d20 2=18,+ 1d6=5 Action point= 23 will save, just making sure....
Aref summons forth another energy avian form to send at the winged riddler. Liviok! Before stepping further away from the flying menace. (move to S23)1d4 1=3damage to Calebra.(magic missile)
The hawk takes off, flying to the corner of the room....Drawing an AoO from the Sphinx
{I need lessons on how to make that nice of maps}

I think it still leaves you with some options to get increments of advantage in addition to the instant summons itself, which is good.

Go ahead and post your round.

Trying to use that now to get Calebra to use his AoO for the round (or one of them at least). Yeah, I like that idea. Good call.

You summoned again... does it move or attack?

Nah, I magic missiled again. I will probably summon again next round...

Awaiting Ryor, Syd, Pulsifer, and Jon.

Will saves and actions.

M Human Wizard 3

Retconning description:

Rackham sprints through the doorway, staff raised. With a snapping motion of his right hand, red sparks swirl and coalesce into a translucent suit of plate mail that surrounds the old mage.

Will: 14 + 4 = 18

He raises his staff before him, and for a fleeting moment, it takes on the appearance of a gleaming hand-and-a-half sword.

"May the Lady's cleansing fire efface you from this world!"

A sheet of flame sweeps out over the heads of Jon and the Bhuka, catching the sphinx's wings in its fiery wake.

Casts burning hands; damage: 2d4 = 6. NOTE: cone angled towards the ceiling so as not to catch melee combatants in the friendly fire (no pun intended).

Jon again swings powerfully at the monster.
Attack, damage (1d20 9=26, 2d6 8=14)

Will save for Jon: 1d20 1d6=17

Blew an action point, good thing, too.

Most of the party is still charging toward the battle this round.

Bohdan beseeches Iomedae to protect his comrades, sending chillls through everyone as they feel the familiar power of Iomedae's blessing.

The Bhuka continue to harry and flank Calebra.

Aref's hawk flies away, slapping Calebra in the face as it leaves. The beast swats at it (blowing it's AoO) but misses.

Aref's magic missile jolts another growl out of Calebra just as Jon lands another deadly blow, one that would have surely killed a smaller creature in one stroke. Yet the creature remains standing.

Pulsifer's cone of fire licks just over the others' heads and sets Calebra's wings afire for a moment.

DMPC:

Ryor double moves to Q24, leaving space for Bohdan to charge. Syd double moves to Q26.

Will saves for fear attack: randomly selected pre-rolls plus on action point each:
Syd 1d20=13 + 1d6=4, total 17 (Was that the last AP?)
Ryor 1d20=12, + 1d6=2, total 14

The roar resonates in the back of their minds, they feel the urge to flee, but neither of them lets it take hold knowing the high stakes of this battle.

Calebra's anger builds seeing that nobody is affected by his magic.

Round 5

Don't forget those flank bonuses.

Don't forget to leave Bohdan space to charge guys, in case you didn't read his post.

INIT RANK:

16 Calebra
8 The Deceiver: Init +7 (DEX 16)
5 Ryor Saar'Narlok: Init +4 (DEX 18)
4 Aref Sami Sharokh: Init +3 (DEX 16)
4 Bhuka: Init +3 (DEX 16)
4 Sydley Hentooth: Init +2 (DEX 14)
2 Rackham Pulsifer: Init +1 (DEX 13)
2 Jon Qiang: Init +1 (DEX 12)
1 Bohdan: Init +0 (DEX 10)

>>>>>MAP<<<<<

I added a 5 foot step for Jon last round and a 5 foot step for Cordoba at the beginning of this round.

Sorry guys, just trying to keep things moving.

Another roar builds from Calebra's belly, this time deeper and more resonant, the ground shaking beneath you. Looking toward the cluster of you near the pool, Calebra crouches low and open's its mouth wider than any of you would have though possible. A bone crumbling vibration slams into Syd, Ryor, Aref, Bhodan, and Pulsifer. All of them must make a reflex save DC 16. The attack is 3d6 sonic, you can roll it yourselves. As with a breath weapon your reflex save gets you 50% off, and evasion nullifies all effect.

My current damage count is:
Wetsands - 13 points of damage
Cordoba - 5 points of damage
Jon - 15 points of damage
Calebra is grievously wounded by still moving powerfully.

Reflex save (1d20=4)
Sonic damage (3d6=11)
Ouch

Ref; Dmg (1d20+5=20, 3d6=14)

Damage received 7; present HP total 8; Next level should be rogue for evasion.

Though blood poured from his ears, the Deceiver manages to make a stab at Calebra.

Atk; Dmg; Snk Atk for flanking (1d20+6=23, 1d6+1=5, 1d6=3)

Jon swings his greatsword to the Calebra.
attack,damage (1d20+9=20, 2d6+8=16)

Jon should have been named 'Qiang the Destroyer'. Quit killing my monster, dude!

Jon:

Spoiler:

[English lesson]Oh yeah, Ian, get it straight brother: you shoot AT and swing AT something. Swinging TO and throwing/shooting TO something is not aggressive - you say that when you give something. Swing to means you swing yourself or something else from one place to another in order to move it. Throwing to is when you want to pass something from one person/place to another. Shooting is very similar, but usually not used - some kind of device is used to shoot an object from one place/person to another.

Also, Calebra is its name, so you swing at Calebra, not at THE Calebra. The type of creature is a sphinx. So you can swing at THE sphinx. That's ok.[/English lesson]

Male Half-orc Fighter 2

Syd hotfoots it to the fray. As he does so he's blasted by a wall of sound; he grits his teeth, feeling his whole body shake with pain. With his own roar of "SHUT UP!" he tears into the stinky sphinx.

Reflex (1d20+2=10)
Damage (3d6=16) What...

Attack; Damage (1d20+9=28, 2d4+6=10)
Crit threat (1d20+9=25)
Crit damage (if applicable) (2d4+6=13)

5 foot step to P25. Attack Calebra...

whoa...

:|

...at least he put some hurt on you first...

Healing everyone next round, assuming we are all still alive.

Reflex: 13 + 1 = 14. Using an action point: 14 + 1d6 = 18. 1/2 x 3d6 = 7. ...and that still cuts me down to -2 HP.

Rackham drops like a rock.

English sucks. Leave it to the English to invent a crappy language, then name it after themselves.

7 hits drops you, you have 14 hps? I haven't done any damage to you or have I forgotten?

Pharasma wrote:

The other scorpion scurries after Cordoba and just at the moment Pulsifer calls out it rips into him, distracted (5 hits). The stinger, luckily, comes nowhere near him.

I found this but it's a hit on Cordoba, not you. You and Bohdan killed the scorpion next to you before it hit anything.

En, whatever....

The Bhuka, neither powerful nor really skilled, certainly keep Calebra busy by jabbing and chattering at him from behind. Once again this round they circle farther around behind the beast.

Att, Dam: (1d20 7=14, 1d6=6, 1d20 7=22, 1d6=1, 1d20 7=12, 1d6=5, 1d20 7=19, 1d6=3)

Sanwhisper and Palmseed both manage to get hits through.

Waiting for Aref, Ryor and Bohdan.

Male Human Sorceror 3 EXP-3450

Reflex save-1d20 3=10, 1d6=3 used action point for 13 total, still not enough, 3d6=14damage.
"Stinking Beast!!! Liviok!!!" Magic missile 1d4 1=3damage.
previous summon is long gone now. Also I am hopping on a plane to Florida on monday afternoon so I may be a bit lax in posting for a day or so, DMPC Aref as needed.

F!!#. I forgot to convert my hit points along with everything else on my character sheet. It still says that I have 5 HP. I will fix this.

Momentarily dazed, Rackham gets back up.

Calebra looks like he doesn't have much fight left in him. Huge lacerations, burnt wings, tiny puncture wounds - he's having trouble getting traction because of the blood spatter covering the floor below him.

With a roar Bohdan finally charges into the fray. Leading with his shield, to protect him against the claws of the beast, he jumps and brings the full brunt of his strength to bear on the desert predator.

Charge: (1d20+12=27, 1d8+5=8)
(+2 charge, +1 Bless, +1 Divine Favor, +2 Flank) - Move to P25

Pulsifer, you got some damage for this hutin' beast? Ryor may not post, Tobus has been having some connectivity issues.

So are we laying the hurt on Calebra?

If you were to look through the attacks and count it up, Calebra has taken 99 hits. I don't want to DMPC Ryor or Pulsifer because I think it's lame if I deal the last blow by proxy.

Everyone survives Calebra’s ear shattering roar, although Pulsifer is brought to his hands and knees for a moment.

Cordoba’s strike finds flesh, Ryor moves in and lunges with his longsword. Calebra, still lucid despite terrible wounds backs off - Ryor's blade finds only empty air, (1d20+3=10, 1d8+2=6) then Syd’s falchion bites off its pound of flesh – Calebra’s front left leg collapses from severed tendons and muscle. Again, with arcs of red steel Jon continues his furious onslaught. Bohdan, charging, slams into the monster pushing it back into the Bhuka axes and shortswords. Aref’s magic missile plunges into its monstrous head yet it shakes the damage off somehow.

The beast seems ready to collapse yet somehow continues.

Round 6

Don't forget those flank bonuses.

The beast is sorely wounded.

Confirm Crit Atk; Add Dmg (1d20+5=16, 1d6+1=3)

Calebra turns to Bohdan, baring his teeth and asks "if yous divides firty by a 'alf and dun add tun , wa' woulds yer answer be?"

"Yer fools!"

He crouches low and leaps into the air despite his crippling injuries (you have AoOs, he has mobility, good luck) so fast you are barely able to swing as he pushes off the ground.

The Deceiver wrote:

You lash deeply into his thigh as he rises.

What is your favorite color?

Originally I was going to have him tell obscene jokes, but it just didn't seem funny. So then I went with stupid riddles in my in-house version of Scouse, which is actually Fabes' fault. Okay, that's not funny either. Maybe I should have gone with Monty Python jokes: "What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen sparrow?" But you guys all know the answer, right?

Whatever. He's gonna get away. You guys are going to all MISS, MUAHAHAHAHA!
