Shalewen |

Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Shadow doesn't get very far before he starts showing unusual behavior. Every now and then he would shack his head as if trying to shake a bad smell from his nose. "Something died here," she says. Most likely several things died here and that clicking might the cause. But that was just supposition at this point so she didn't bother to voice it.

Rokkad |

As he squeezes the excess water from his clothing, Rokkad glances around the cavern and sends a mental message to Kokip to investigate further.
Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Darkvision 60ft, Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

Kokip |

As soon as they enter the cave the giant serpent shivers, starting from his head and moving along the length of his torso until it reaches the tip of his tail, shaking the excess water from his scales. He then slithers off deeper into the cavern, his tongue flicking in and out to taste the familiar odor.
Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Darkvision 60ft, Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Map is now set! Feel free to move your characters as you see fit so that they are organized
As Ikoma makes his way into the cavern he feels a steep and tossing turning in his stomach. Fighting the urge to throw up he would find himself needing to balance against the wall, if only for a moment, to fight the onset vertigo spinning his mind like a top. Ikoma, you are sickened until this time tomorrow.
As Kokip and Shadow presumably lead the way their scents are caught by the entrance to Rokkad's right. West on the map
Each animal gives a rather off put feeling and body language as they near the entrance only to see a rather large spider at the end of the tunnel chomping and mawing away at a rather large reptile of some sort. It appears fully distracted by its current meal, though you three are still rather far off from it.

Rokkad |

Rokkad whispers "There is a giant spider in the passage to the west, but it does not seem to have noticed us. It is eating now, so hopefully it will not bother us for some time as it digests its meal. Shall we try the eastern passage?"

Arieys Mavashti |

"The Bear predicted we'd find something like this. A giant spider isn't something one can truly tame or train. If you try, it will most likely eat you. I'd bet gold sails its meal was one of the very goblins were tracking that haplessly stumbled into its lair."
She strokes her chin, thinking on how long it would take a spider that size to digest its food.
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Shalewen |

Shadow emits a low rumble that is just shy of a growl. Shalewen hears this and knows he's spotted something living and possibly a threat. Rokkad confirms this though she isn't sure how. He was human. He shouldn't be able to see.
Shalewen snaps her finger to recall Shadow and unties everyone from the rope. She nods at Rokkads suggestion and lets Shadow guide her deeper into the left passage before lighting a torch. They should get some distance away before making camp. The spider should leave them alone after a meal but they'd definitely have to keep watch.
Ranger's kit says it comes with 10 torches.

DavianGrallus |
feel free to hand put the torches, just mark them gone in your inventory please :)
Given the size of the chameleon and intent of the spider, allowing it to eat the meal alone would take over another hour. It would only leave such a large prey if it felt threatened, as after the hunt and meal the spider would surely sleep.
Interacting with it now, however, would be the most dangerous point of facing the spider.

Arieys Mavashti |

Arieys lights one of her torches and addresses the others.
"We should definitely leave this spider be. It'd only abandon the meal it's got if it feels threatened. Otherwise it'll just finish it in about an hour and then take a nap."
Plus, I think spiders are cute and don't want to play to the stereotypes Tolkien laid out! :P

DavianGrallus |
Taking the passage on the east side of the cavern the group continues to hear dripping from the moist ceiling of the cave though the munching and clicking of the giant spider begins to fade off into the background.
As you approach under the brilliant embers of Shalewen's torches you find a rather large pool of water in the cavern. It is here you notice that not only is there water leaking from the cavern walls but a stream flowing in to fill this pool from the flooding storm outside.
Now that the noise of the storm has dulled you can hear the slow pop and ripple of a tiny overflowing stream between your feet.
Though there is no way around the pooling water of difficult terrain you notice that the visible floor underneath the pool's surface is more than a little slick. Acrobatics DC 14 to not slip!

Mitsuko Kaijitsu |

Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
The character takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks for 24 hours
Mitsuko stepped in noticing the darkness and would frown as she waited for someone to light a torch. Opening the entrance again to get some fresh air as the smell just made her stomach roll. She wasn't sure what it was but something was making her feel ill.

Shalewen |

Shalewen steps one foot in the water and retracts it. She looks closely at the floor and follows the sound to the gushing cracks. She takes a tentative step forward and finds it manageable but just barely. Shadow would have significant difficulty here and most likely a few of the others. She looks back at Ikoma and Mitsuko specifically. She holds up a hand for the others to wait. Maybe there was a way stop the flow of water or a way to drain it.
K:Nature: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
K:Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Having the others hold off while Shalewen tries to find a way to navigate or reduce the water level (above rolls). Take 10 on Acro and she barely makes it thanks to high dex. Doubtful many others could. Also taking 10 on perception for 18.

DavianGrallus |
Two things. 1) Damn Mitsuko ;( 2) Shalewen, no worries, I already took everyone's resting perception into account with the description given. For your other rolls....
Kn. Nature
Nothing other than the obvious is found.
Kn. Dungeoneering
It's amazing what things can do to reduce the slipperiness of other objects. Placing cloths, tarps, etc. down can not only reduce the slipperiness, but get rid of it all together.
However, if nothing is big enough to cover the slick as one solid piece, it will simply slide off. The only other counter to this is to slowly clean the slick, or to unearth the surrounding mud and dirt in an attempt to cover it up.
Given the current supplies, though it may cause fatigue, the second option is the only viable one for this scenario.
Given your knowledge of this task, there is a high chance (DC 12 Fort Save) of people becoming fatigued from the task. Dividing the effort from the current group to two people would raise the DC further. (DC 15 Fort Save).
Otherwise the slick must be risked as is.

Rokkad |

Rokkad squats down near the edge of the pool to gauge the distance they would have to cross to reach the other side. "Kokip, could you stretch yourself along the edge of the pool and allow us to crawl along your broad back?" he asks after a few moments.

DavianGrallus |
heh, even more clever Rokkad. I'll allow Kokip to do this as it is snake like. Allow me to read a little bit before my next post so I can see how to work this.
Mitsuko- this could be done... it would take quite a bit of time though no fatigue since it is a cantrip. I would allow you to coordinate with Kokip to do this a tad faster.

Rokkad |

Once Kokip has moved into position to divert part of the water flow and Mitsuko has dried up the slippery mud, Rokkad stalks further down the passage, peering around the corner to check for any other hazards.
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

Shalewen |

I should have looked at the map. There is a spot to the southeast that looks dry. Also I have a grappling hook.
Shalewen forgoes using Kokip for assistance. Not because she was afraid of him but because she could make it on her own. He said he'd allow it but it still felt demeaning. She raises her bow and torch to shoulder level and uses them to balance as she slides along to the dry area southeast. Shadow whines at the shore but stays put once Shalewen gives the command. She slides a little with the flow but eventually makes it to dry rock. Once there she ties her rope to a grappling hook and tosses it back to the others.
If the grappling hook is attached to something, Shelewen can pull and provide support for others to cross. So can we say she and Kokip are aiding? That's +4. If Mitsuko clears a clean path then everyone should be able to make it.

DavianGrallus |
The group moves steadily and reliably across the slick as Mitsuko uses her abilities to slowly and surely clear it away with Kokip aiding her for balance. Shalewen takes a daring trip across the slick as well to maximize the aid to the group. Between Kokip's aiding, Mitsuko's prestidigitation, and Shaelwen's rope, the overflow and slick become a mere puddle and child's play to the party.
Rokkad, despite attempting to be stealthy, is rather loud as he crosses with the others. His feet stick and plop as everyone else's does in the water and through the cement like mud caking over his shoes.
Despite the noise, however, he does catch a glimpse of a few things as they all make it to the other side-
As Rokkad begins to look around he sees more than the basics of the cavern and its slick; to the south of the cavern wall he would see several old and mud buried skeletons fill the earth. To the west, similar to the spider cavern towards the entrance of the cave, Rokkad would see one large tunnel split off into two. Unfortunately based on their angles, it would require a more thorough investigation to see what was at the end of either one.
You have faced a faceless stalker, a mighty storm, bypassed a deadly spider, and impressed your GM with your excellent teamwork! At this time I am going to ask you all level up to level 2 :) I know I missed a few days this week, and leveling up can take some time, so I plan on posting through the weekend to make up for it.

Shalewen |

Shalewen looks at the options available as pointed out by Rokkad. A smaller tunnel to the right that splits into two or follow the water down the main tunnel. She would prefer following the main tunnel but not without making sure their flank was secure. She whistles and points down the smaller tunnel's right branch. Shadow obeys and goes exploring.
Take 10 on handle animal. Sending the Shadow down the right off shoot. I placed his picture at the entrance to the one I am talking about on roll 20.

Shadow the Wolf |

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Shadow ambles down the tunnel, nose down and ears up, searching for anything living or dangerous. He weaves back and forth making sure not to miss a single scent.

DavianGrallus |
As Shadow begins to search through the right tunnel, he very quickly returns to Shalewen with a little webbing on his nose. It would appear that this path connects to the other side of the giant spider's den that Arieys had identified.
As Kokip slithers and peers down the left tunnel he would both hear a small bubbling of water and catch sight of a series of glistening blue rocks of some sort. From what could be gathered, it could be some sort of quartz formation in the cave down this way.
Things: 1d20 ⇒ 9
As Arieys begins to hum she would notice, or at least think she noticed, one of the unearthed skeleton feet flick in response.

Shalewen |

Shalewen pulls the webbing off Shadow's nose gives him a good scratch in his head for a job well done. "Spider," she says to the others while holding up the web. That path was relatively safe. She was about to send Shadow down the other when Arieys speaks up. She looks down the tunnel, drawing her bow. She would be pretty useless against most undead with a bow so she does not lead the way this time.

Rokkad |

Kokip returns from scouting the passage and a long glance passes between him and Rokkad. Rokkad starts "There are quartz formations the other way and the sound of bubbling water..." before Arieys interrupts. He tenses up and turns to inspect the bones while removing his sling and a few stones from his pouch.

DavianGrallus |
Unfortunately for the group, Ikoma's question answers itself as the skeleton with the dangling foot slowly rises with clacks and clicks while its bones assemble into place.
A sword can be heard being drawn much deeper in the cave and after several taps the skeleton slowly looks towards the group with a groan as its bones rattle and echo.
Ikoma: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Rokkad: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Shalewen and Shadow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Arieys: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Mitsuko: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

Shalewen |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Shalewen's head turns ever so slightly to a sound further down the tunnel. A sword being drawn. Another undead perhaps? She drops the torch at her feet and reaches for an arrow. Instead of knocking it, she holds it in her hand and says something under her breath. The tip of the arrow begins to glow and shine with same intensity as the torch at her feet.
The skeleton on the map is way too far for us to even see. Torch light only goes 20 and darkvision 60. Its 65 out. So for now, casting light in an arrow and switching animal focus to +2 strength for shadow.

Rokkad |

Starring down at the stones for a few moments, Rokkad intones a solemn prayer that causes them to glow faintly. He takes a few steps forward, places a stone in his sling and starts whirling it around his head, waiting for the skeleton to come into range.
Kokip slithers forward to meet the threat, rearing up to hiss in warning.
Cast Magic Stone.

DavianGrallus |
Torchlight goes 20 feet of normal light, but the dim light given from that is a bit farther as well. I'll have to look up the rules, but he should still be within your sight, the extra five feet is an error. He was supposed to be at 60. If this changes anyone's actions, let me know.
Ikoma- I see what you're going for, hmm... I will have to think on that. Short term we must say no, though I'd consider making it an improvised weapon.
Pend another second for Mitsuko, then will post tomorrow for sure. I will be on the road, do not be surprised if it is simply a roll post from mobile :P
