A single skeleton approaches and attacks Target Choice: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
The claw, filthy and riddled with mud, scrapes across Kokip's scales with a rather nasty reverberating clicking of bone on scale as it gasps after the snake like creature.
Arieys, then top of the order. My apologies for the delay.
Kokip
Kokip snaps at the skull of the filthy dead thing and brings his tail around to smash its spine to splinters!
Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Tail: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Rokkad
Rokkad dashes to the side of the tunnel, trying to get a clear shot at the skeleton that won't risk hitting Kokip or the others dashing towards their foe, then lets fly with the glowing stone.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 4 = 15
Damage: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 3) + 2 = 9
DavianGrallus
Though Kokip's tail misses the strike its deadly jaws clasp over and crush the skeleton's very skull into dust.
More rattling and cracking can be heard in the background- it requires no investigation to know based on the groaning and rattling that more skeletons are rising in the caves.
Kokip can see two off in the distance as the torchlight flickers just out of reach from where they are.
Rokkad, feel free to redo what you have done, or redirect the attack to an enemy if visible with the same rolls. The choice is up to you. Mob will stay in the same place for now in initiative. Normal light and dim light radiuses have been put on the map to show what is what and where. Low-light effects are now in place.
Shalewen
Shalewen looks down the tunnel and then up at the ceiling gauging the strength her next shot needs to be. She pulls back to a half draw and lets it fly. She accounted, and hoped, for some sliding. It arcs over the combat and past the torch light, shining over everyone on its way. Without the command to attack, Shadow follows closely.
Sending the Light arrow to a point far enough down the tunnel so as to barely overlap the current light source at her feet. She will then move 30 forward but it seems the circle is tied to the figure so I will let you do that. Shadow will ready an attack in case something approaches her but I doubt that will happen.
Rokkad
Rokkad dashes after Kokip and lets loose a stone at a shadowy form further down the passage.
Using the same rolls, he would not suffer the -4 for firing into melee but he would suffer a -2 for range so his attack roll would be 17.
DavianGrallus
It's ok- Paizo eats at least 1 of my posts per day xD
Miss Chance for Low-Light: 1d100 ⇒ 3 Miss
1d8 for where arrow lands in unseen block-: 1d8 ⇒ 6
As Shalewen moves forward so do two more skeletons, emerging through the low light of the torch as the arrow shot into the distance reveals them in all their disgusting glory for a brief second before paddling out and across water and thick mud. Spots on the map will be marked with black that are difficult terrain
They gnaw and groan as they approach, but all of you are too far for them to reach at the moment.
As Rokkad slings his magic stone it misses, the lighting distorting where they were and where they are now.
Arieys, then top of the order!
Arieys Mavashti
Arieys riffles through her cards before drawing one card in one hand and touching Ikoma with the other.
"Through the power of the Harrow I grant you the stature and strength of the Mountain Man!"
Ikoma finds the floor receding away from him as he nearly hits his head on the cave ceiling.
Arieys casts enlarge person on Ikoma.
Shalewen
Oh s$*&. I forgot. I was expecting some rolls but they aren't close enough yet.
Shalewen sends shadow to help Ikoma, giving the wolf greater strength in the hopes that it will be enough to crush bone. With the light, he'd not be needing the night vision. For her own part, she takes aim at the same creature and lets fly another arrow.
Attack+Point-Blank: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 = 18
Damage+Point-Blank: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Barely enough to hurt I think.
Rokkad
Rokkad creeps along the wall of the tunnel and pulls out another of the glowing stones, launching it at the skeleton further down the passage.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 5) + 2 = 10
DavianGrallus
Ikoma's rather large katana sheath hacks and clubs away the skeleton as Rokkad's stone and Shalewen's arrow destroy another. Kokip and Shadow shuffle in the dirt, further mawing the clacking and "lifeless" remains.
In the distance the sound of a sword being sharpened can be heard with a much louder groaning and disturbing of the earth, but none can be seen.
The slick the team had easily bypassed before covers the southern walls of the cavern, but there does not appear to be any exits or entrances down there. The noise, then, despite it's echo, must be somewhere to the west as far as you all can see.
We are keeping initiative, but only the party is in it for now. Keeping round count for Ikoma's large. This is Round 1.
Rokkad
"Yes, we should cleanse this place and set these unquiet dead to rest." Rokkad agrees. He continues along the passage, Kokip a bit ahead of him, with the last stone in his sling ready to fly.
Shalewen
Considering the time it took get off the shot, Shalewen lights up another arrow and picks up her fallen torch. She nods her agreement with Rokkad. They should make this place safe. They hadn't yet found a place suitable to bed down anyway. Still far too damp.
Technically those actions will take two rounds. Standard to light. Move to go back to fallen torch, one to pick it up and another to come back.
DavianGrallus
Fair enough, Shalewen. Does anyone have anything they'd like to do, other than move on this Round 2 / 3? If not, I will move things along with another post tonight.
DavianGrallus
You all stalk and move through the mud to find that there is nothing of significance- nothing, that is, to the west of the wide and spacious cavern walls.
You do see several footprints leading towards yet another tunnel now returning to the north end of the cavern as the sharpening of the blade continues to echo and reverberate louder and louder.
As you all stand in the doorway you hear the clinking of several weapons begin as more groaning starts and the slurping of mud is heard while assumedly more skeletons rise from the ground.
The sharping stops as a loud thud is heard with a calling out along the cavern "You.... have trespassed against Tsutamu..... The goblins have insulted us for the last time..... Intruders...."
"Kill them all."
He points his blade after Ikoma with a rattled and disturbed breath while the three skeletons surrounding him reveal a multitude of arms and blades, each one wielding a wakizashi.
Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
New initiative order set up shortly- need to place you guys on the map as well for where you would be vs. where they are in the cavern.
Arieys Mavashti
Arieys' eyes widen as the angered undead shouts from beyond the cave.
"Tsutamu? Mitsuko, Ikoma, does that name sound familiar to you? Whatever this spirit is, it speaks the Tien tongue, and precious few speak it in Varisia outside your families, as far as I know..."
Arieys is in position on the map!
DavianGrallus
As Arieys calls out to the others, the three skeletons before the katana wielding skeleton move forward with their four wakizashi's twirling in the air as they strike after each enemy in front of them-
Attack on Kokip: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Attack on Shadow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Attack on Ikoma: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage on Kokip: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Damage on Shadow: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Damage on Ikoma: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Their charges are steady and quick while their wakizashi cut through the front line's defenses with relative difficulty despite their commanded calculation.
Their groans and rattling continue as each of their three spare arms prepare for a new attack.
Meanwhile the commander behind them gives a simple call out to Ikoma after admiring the samurai's rather large figure "...You will do.... as a proper challenge to my ranking..."
His katana points high up into the air before he draws it to his side and down. With a small dipping of his head, the skeleton charges Ikoma in a challenge as he attempts to finish him in a single strike-
Challenge Charge: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
The slash sweeps just short of Ikoma's armor with more than enough force to have cut through it. The commander gives a cry of anger with more rattling jaws and bones as he then prepares to strike again.
Mob initiative over- your turns. Order is actually as follows: Mob (already went this round), Rokkad, Ikoma, Shalewen, Mitsuko, Arieys
Shalewen
Should have bought a few blunt arrows.
Shalewen cries out, not from fear, but in outrage as one of the skeletons harms her companion. Without thinking about the consequences, she knocks the arrow of light and pulls back, intending to put it through the undead skeleton's eye socket.
Attack+Point Blank Shot: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Damamge: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Swift Action: Apply new animal focus to both characters, Tiger (+2 dex) for Shalewen and Bull (+2 Str) for Shadow. Then attack. If the undead next to her is still alive she procs an AoO.
Shadow the Wolf
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Trip: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Shadow momentarily whimpers at the attack then snarls and attacks in retaliation.
If that doesn't trip then both my characters have made worthless attacks.
DavianGrallus
Not to worry, no AoO proc'd from creatures that have charged if I remember correctly. And don't be too down on yourself- undead are extremely difficult until about level 4 or 5. It is why they are thrown at players early on in just about everything :P
Kokip
Kokip flinches in pain as the sword slices through his scales, a thick grey fluid dripping to the ground from the wound. He snaps at the skeleton's skull and brings his tail around to slam into its arms.
Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Tail: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Rokkad
Placing his last magic stone in his sling, Rokkad offers a silent prayer to his god to guide his aim as he takes aim at the leader of the undead.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 4 = 17
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1) + 3 = 5
DavianGrallus
Ikoma unsheathes his katana and strikes out against the samurai in a single cut-
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 5) + 7 = 13
The cut misses, but Ikoma prepares for another strike.
The skeletons in the front prepare to cut after Kokip, Shadow, and Ikoma. Unlike their first strike their wakizashi slash, one after another, desperately seeking to hit something.
Attack on Kokip: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Attack on Kokip: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Attack on kokip: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Attack on Shadow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Attack on Shadow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Attack on Shadow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Attack on Ikoma: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Attack on Ikoma: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Attack on Ikoma: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
A single wakizashi cuts into Shadow Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 as the Samurai Commander attempts another cut into Ikoma-
Will Save on Eye: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
The Samurai gives a darkened, lidless and eyeless glare after Arieys as he feels her gaze on his while attempting to slide his katana into Ikoma's chest, fully resisting her evil eye Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Blood sprays about as the sword meets its target, the Samurai rattling with rigor as he prepares for yet another strike.
Shalewen
How do they have three attacks, all at the same bonus?
Her first hasty shot was mostly ineffectual against the skeleton. But its return strike on her companion was not. She decided against another poorly placed shot and instead intones a prayer, calling on nature to provide aid. She hoped Shadow would hold out long enough for the prayer to be answered.
Casting Summon Nature's Ally.
Shadow the Wolf
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Trip: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Shadow courageously continues to attack despite being unable to do any meaningful damage. They seemed unusually sturdy as well, resisting his attempts to pull them off their feet.
Rokkad
Rokkad reaches out to touch Kokip as he calls upon the connection between himself and his god to empower the avatar's attacks.
Cast Magic Fang, not sure if he needs a roll to touch Kokip.
if needed: touch 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Kokip gains a +1 to attacks and damage.
Kokip
Kokip continues his assault on the strange skeleton, trying to use his snapping jaws to maneuver it into position for a tail strike.
Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 +1 if Magic Fang in effect
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 +1 if Magic Fang in effect
Tail: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 +1 if Magic Fang in effect
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2 +1 if Magic Fang in effect
DavianGrallus
Mitsuko sings through the cavern while Ikoma strikes a blow on the skeleton commander who snarls in return at the challenge the samurai had laid after him.
Shadow and Kokip team together and end up slaying one of the skeletons as Rokkad misses another. Arieys tends to the wounded CLW would probably be good on Shadow, given the damage he's taken so far? as the remaining skeletons gear up again for their attack.
The soldiers spin their arms, first on Kokip, then now on Ikoma as he strikes their leader-
Attack Kokip: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Attack Kokip: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Attack Kokip: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Attack Ikoma: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Attack Ikoma: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Attack Ikoma: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Of all the spins only a single attack strikes Kokip- Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
while the Skeleton Commander attempts yet again to strike Ikoma Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
"I am not from hell..... YOU are trespassing sacred grounds..... Samurai......" The commander tilts the blade upwards and runs it up Ikoma's armor in another spray of blood across the cavern.
Everyone is up once more. Sorry for the delayed push- wanted to give Arieys a day or so on healing advice at least.
Arieys Mavashti
That answers THAT question!
"Ikoma, hold on!" Arieys cries as she shoves her way towards the enlarged samurai.
She riffles through her cards and draws one with an armored figure standing resolute.
"Find strength in the resolve of The Paladin, and do not back down!" she cries as the card begins to glow with golden light. She touches the card to Ikoma's side and the glow spreads to him.
Arieys casts cure light wounds on Ikoma.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Rokkad
Wincing in pain as he feels the skeleton's blow through the empathic connection between him and Kokip, Rokkad reaches out to bolster his eidolon's life energy.
Cast Rejuvenate Eidolon: Kokip gains 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 hps.
