Rokkad stays alert for any sign of the creature's return until the end of his shift. When he wakes the next person on watch, he tells them about the massive figure and points out the direction it fled before settling down to sleep.

Does Tregdorult or Shalewen want to go next?

Shalewen awaken quickly when Rokkad rouses her. She was used to sleeping lightly in case of emergencies. Then he tells her of the figure. Usually it was best to leave such things alone but she at least wanted to know what they were dealing with. "Stay," she says to Shadow and Rokkad. Taking only her bow and a torch, she heads to where Rokkad saw the beast and looks around for clues.

Can I take 10 on this survival check to find tracks and learn what we are dealing with and which way it went? No intention of following right now.

If not.

Shalewen's Survival and Resting Perception:

As Shalewen goes to poke into the forest with her eyes up and hand feeling and searching the ground for tracks and traces fog wraps around her like a blanket. After only a few steps it becomes impossible to see Rokkad and Shadow.

Though no imminent danger is around, Shalewen becomes professionally convinced that she may be one of the only ones in the group who could have wandered from camp this far, a mere hundred feet if that, and not gotten immediately lost in the fog and scenery.

The footsteps left behind by whatever figure Rokkad saw are rather large and awkward- foreign, and almost definitely unnatural. In addition to these foot points Shalewen finds another thing- something she would know as the "New Fish Trail"- this supposedly would lead them to the halfling in the morning.

That also, however, meant what had just been seen was the Soggy River Monster. A beast often spoken of in leagues with the Sandpoint Devil in regards to the disappearances and violence it is known to cause.

You would make your way safely back to camp, and the rest of your watch is quiet and uneventual despite the fog and various noises of the night.

Feel free to do light RP as you all wake up, well rested. Please fully replenish HP, spells, and all other "daily use" items and abilities. Welcome to day 2! The rest of your watches are uneventful, though you may transition as you see fit tonight / tomorrow as I guide you forward :P

Arieys stretches as she wakes with the dawn. There's slight dark circles under her eyes from a night of fitful sleep. She prepares some clean water in her pot to wash her face with, and greets the others as they wake.

"Good morning, fellow goblinslayers! Everyone sleep well? I imagine everyone slept better than I did. Dark dreams last night."

Sleeping in a bit later after his late night, Rokkad stretches and joins the others as they prepare for the day.

"Anything more from our late-night visitor?" he asks Shalewen as he finishes off the last few bits of meat from his rations. "We are going to need to hunt for food today." he comments after her answer.

Shalewen comes back more pensive than scared but says nothing until morning. She wasn't one to believe in rumors but she'd seen the tracks."Soggy River Monster," is her answer. "I think," she follows up, clearly doubting that was what he saw but not able to come up with a different answer. "Local Legend. Same trail as the halfling." She didn't know much about the legend so someone else would have to fill them in. She finishes the last of her ration and tosses a new one to Rokkad. They couldn't slow down for food. Not if that thing was headed in the same direction they were. Once everyone is ready she leads them up the incline to the trail she saw. The new Fish Trail.

Its been a day. How are your rations gone? Either way you have another now. Perception buff on Shadow.

Arieys frowns at Rokkad and Shalewen's conversation.

"Late night visitor? Soggy River Monster? Then...perhaps it was not a dream."

She instinctively opens her carrying case and riffles through her cards, seeking an omen or an insight.

The incline of the hill is gentle and unchallenging- only a few feet long before it flattens out into the view of a rather massive forest. Trees of swamp decor hang and droop over dark passages despite the extraordinarily beautiful weather and sunlight. Another beautiful day for the group surrounded in solving where this halfling could be.

Shalewen continues the trail as it goes through the swamp difficult terrain of slick mud in most parts- each step becomes a sucking "plop" as your feet are taken in and then drug back out the swirling mud pools of the marsh.

A bridge is reached- it's quite rickety and aged with rot though based on anyone's guess it looks sturdy enough to cross. Before anyone reaches the bridge in the low-light of the well sun shielded forest a howling can be heard echoing off of the tree trunks well off into the distance behind you-

Shalewen and Rokkad would get a particularly eerie shiver down their spine as they recognized this call of the Soggy River Monster from last night......

Shalewen, a Kn. Nature or Planes would be allowed in this instance as well- based on the legend, a 10 would just tell you what you all already know. It's big, it's scary, lot's of disappearances, and definitely powerful based on the "legends." Legend basics is that it kidnaps and eats people as far as basic rumors go.

You all stalkingly cross the bridge after the howling is heard behind you, echoing afterwards around the entire forest. The fog doesn't seem to lift as you cross bridge after bridge, but most of you notice several loose arrows lodged in the bridge railings.

Sword marks and tears are up and down several of the loose boards, and Shadow gives a low whine as he sniffs up in the air now and again. Nearing what appears the ends of these once wonderfully and conveniently placed bridges of the swamps Walthus Proudstump's trail picks up again. The blood is heavy enough to see even through the thick fog, and a run down shack can be seen nearly one hundred meters out. It's shaded well and surrounded by fog, but the trail seems to generally go in that direction.

It is now about 1pm after travelling the bridges carefully and safely. Feel free to investigate as you which since you travelled bridges over about a 3 hour period.

Shalewen, could you perhaps tell Arieys what little you know, please? I wasn't aware Nature or Planes would work here too, both of which Arieys has ranks in, but it doesn't make much sense if Arieys makes those checks just out of the blue for no real reason...

Well that's a 24 with the above roll on Nature.

Shalewen draws attention to the weapon damage and blood by hissing at the others and pointing them out. Was the beast drawn by the blood or was it the cause? If not, then who was Walthus fighting? That thing was approaching so there was no time to do an in depth search. They needed to get to shelter. Shalewen moves towards the house with Shadow in tow.

Knowledge Rolls for Arieys / Shalewen:

You both become instantly aware, based on what Shalewen saw and the analyzing of its footprints, that this is a thing not of nature, but surrounded by it. It appears massive amounts of leaves, dead branches, twigs, and animal rot are left with each and every step. Something like this is normally of different planes of existence.

Based on its size it is rather quick, and this strikes you as a mystery.

Based on the region, you would guess this is some sort of a sinspawn, though you can't quite tell....

Arieys Kn. Planes:

Arieys becomes fully aware after deliberation with Shalewen what the creature was- it is a Gluttonspawn. The distinguished size and grotesque amount of rot suggests that it might even be two Gluttonspawn somehow put together as one large sinspawn.

Any who appear to act greedy, by any means, should be forewarned of the beasts lure to those who act in such a way.

As Kokip is asked to lead and go around the shack, a halfling pops out from around the corner with his hands raised as he shouts "Please! Don't go any farther! My vipers, ooh..... oh...." His voice grows softer as he clutches a gaping wound at his side "Someone..... ah.... ooooh.... Someone attempted to rob me last night.... I'm not sure who... or what! But someone did.... my vipers are all uncontrollable now.... and dangerous.... Please, be careful! Stay away from the garden..... until I can regain control of them!"

Shalewen and Shadow:

Something about this seems.... off? The man is properly panicked, but is speaking in hushed whispers instead of shouts. This could be something to investigate.

Shadow doesn't seem to want to approach the halfling, either.

Tregdorult walks along silently with the group as they travel starting at the wild foliage and strange eyes hiding behind it. He holds his large bulk with tense muscles as they walk, nearly jumping when the sound of the monster calls it to them. As the stranger comes rushing out Tregdorult nearly jumps again and mutters quietly to himself, What have I signed myself up for? Then at the mention of the out of control vipers, Tregdorult seems to change. Instead of the jumpy, tense Tregdorult, he stood tall and firm in the middle of the path, watching all around. The Menton of a specific danger seems to have done him some good.

"It's a monster...a sinspawn creature, like those ones that started appearing last year. If this is one of those things, that it's earned itself a legend to match the Sandpoint Devil...it can only be a dangerous, terribly dangerous creature. We should be cautious...but we're stronger than the average villager or caravaneer. Perhaps we can track this thing to its lair and put it down."

When they're confronted by the strange halfling, Arieys frowns in concern.

"You're wounded. We can help you."

Mitsuko leaves her blade out and would carefully study the creature to see if he really knew where Walthus was. Highly doubting the creature knew, other wise Walthus probably would have been killed. Also, if he really was meaning something when talking about the river monster.

Deciding to play along for now she spoke.

Meanwhile, Kokip circles around the house to search for anything else before rejoining the group at the front. He rears up, his forked tongue darting out near the madman's face as if testing to see if he would be tasty...

He doesn't let go until she moves forward and actually pries him off. She nudges him away with a new order to search around the cabin. Something to keep him busy while she watches over Rokkad as he enters the hut.

Switching him back to perception animal focus and using seek command. If its just snakes he finds she will ignore it.
