Either Hajar, Hamzah or Akim will probably want the holy symbol, or conversely as a possible new convert you could take it.

Hamzah Hamas Al Dajannah |

Wow, that I made a mistake that huge is impressive =/. We have seriously played this the wrong way at my table for 1.5 years now. I don't think I'm gonna tell my tabletop group.
I've done this before. I did the Massive Damage rule wrong for years until I read it closely. I was giving fort saves everytime someone did over 50 points of damage. It is based on a percentage of the targets hit points.

Hamzah Hamas Al Dajannah |

Is the wooden holy symbol magical?
Someone should take that +1 mace for melee against skeletons. Probably Hajar so he can bust up that skeleton DR and save on smites. I still think we should hold onto the chime of opening at least until we have easy access to knock.
Did Dave tell us if we could sell at this point in time? We're a long way from an area for selling items.

Hajar nar Jundi |

I'll carry the mace for now. But I don't want it permanently. And yes, we are pretty far away from selling/buying anything.

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

The holy symbol is not magic
Strangly enough there is a black market in Kelmarane if you want to trade with gnolls.
You can send an npc to sell and buy for you. Or you can travel to the nearest town.
Let me ask the group this. The AP is very clear that Kelmarane was a trading town that was abandoned then years later gnolls took it over. Almah tells you this. Other info you would know from Almah. Battle Markets, mentioned by Lek, are common in Katapesh. Think of a glatators arena in the middle of a shopping mall. The one in Kelmarane was abandoned for reasons Almah will not share at this point. She needs to be sure she can trust you.
Ok how far away would the next town be? Say it was the real medieval world how far away would at least a small town be? The AP does not referance this at all. I want you to be able to buy and sell I also want the next town to be a realistic distance away. What do you think? How do you do it in your games?
One more thing. Ignore the hole with the blood around it. It was supposed to have Stirges there bur I did not want to do a pointless combat so I threw undead at you instead. I was thinking about putting something in the hole but Id rather skip it. Its just a mundane rats nest now.
You still need to explore the fungus though.

Hajar nar Jundi |

I kinda like the idea of being far from civilization.

Hajar nar Jundi |

I found this Map of katapesh. Looks like kelmarane is pretty far from anything.

![]() |

None of the items except the hammer are really useless, so we should do alright as far as treasure even if we aren't back in the city for a while.
I'll also take the bracers if no one else wants them. I'll probably sell them later, but in the meantime having a 13 AC instead of a 12 AC without Mage armor can't hurt.

Hajar nar Jundi |

Just using the map in Dark Markets. The closest town is El-Fatar, its about 60 miles away. Its also a pretty small settlement. Maybe we can trade items with Almah and the members of the caravan?

Hamzah Hamas Al Dajannah |

60 miles is two days. That's not bad. You can usually move about 30 miles a day if focusing on travel. At the moment I'm going to assume we're isolated and focused on retaking the village. At the moment Hamzah does not wish to trade with gnolls. Perhaps his thoughts will change later.

Hajar nar Jundi |

Grim will claim the +1 Dagger if it is alright with everyone.
(the massive damage rule/ + channel energy you reference were from 3.5)
Ahhh, thats why we were doing it that way. We are all 3.5 holdovers. We meet this saturday, I think I might telll them about the channeling rule...
More than fine with me Grim, its optimal!
Hajar nar Jundi |

Here is the map from the Dark Markets splatbook about Katapesh.
My apologies for the slight fuzziness, I'm not very good with editing pictures and stuff I pretty much just prntscreen + Cnrtlv the map.

Al-Akim Naziri |

Guys! SO sorry for being gone. Weekends are a bit difficult for me to post, but this one more so than usual.
My friend was discharged from the Army on sunday after 11 years of service and 2 tours in Iraq. We had a huge celebration almost all day sunday, and into Monday morning. My sincerest apologies for not being able to post.
Luckily, Al-Akim has been fairly depressed due to breaking his Falchion so he wouldn't have been too talkative.

Al-Akim Naziri |

Thanks Dave, and I will try to be more consistent on the weekends. I will also let you guys know when I will be unavailable. Also, feel free to DM/PC me if you ever need to.

Leyli Wildspeaker |

I work 7pm to 7am PST so I'm usually asleep around the day and that's where the majority of the posts happen, I apologize for dragging it a little bit. Feel free to DMPC me if it happens.

![]() |

Wow, three of us work graveyard in PST? I work from 10pm-6am, but tomorrow's actually my last day of graveyard (yay!).
I will not be around much until Friday; white water rafting today, friend's wedding tomorrow, and trying to catch a few z's somewhere in there is going to keep me busy. Just have Raj go along with whatever's happening, I'll be back Friday afternoon.

Hajar nar Jundi |

Hey guys my job usually allows me access to my computer/desk multiple times a day, however part of my job requires going to meetings and conferences which limit my posting. Last week I was at a conference but luckily my ipad worked fine so i could post, this week I'm actually presenting at some meetings so I'll probably be unable to post again until maybe lunchtime or after work around 5pm CST. This isn't usual its just that the school year just started and I'm giving presentations to like 1500 educators at a time so its not like I can whip out the ipad when I want =(. Dave for both games feel free to play Nalun/Hajar as you want, you know my style.

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

Lets see...Nalun detects magic...Hajar hits stuff with his big sword after trying to convert....Yea I think I got it lol =P
I want to move through this AP fast so we can complete it but I dont want to go so fast I hinder roleplaying and fun along the way. I'm ok to slow down just a bit. I don't think this will be a problem.

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

I am going to have to start using the advanced template for you guys. I think I'm also gonna do the 4th edition DnD thing and have 1HP minions as well. I think that will make the fights more fun! If you are not familiar with minions they are the same monster as the regular creatures but they only have 1 HP each. That way you can throw big groups at a party but they go down easy and the PC's feel like bad asses!

Gunk |

GM Dave, most of the Paizo APs are geared for a 4 party member group. We have 7. You can amp things up by adding more monsters. If I am not mistaken, there is a formula in the DMs guide for calculating the CR for an encounter based on party size and such. At one point I found a calculator online for this as well by pasting in the stat blocks. I've long since lost the link to that one though sadly.

Al-Akim Naziri |

BTW, I will be out of town most of next week. On the 13-14 for a business trip, and then 15-19 on vacation. I should be able to post at least once a day, though it may be spotty. I will surely try for more.

Gunk |

Folks, if you have any spare time this weekend and are looking for something to do, check this out. Myself and a bunch of other teachers in my district have formed an indie film group and we are in the process of creating our second web series. It is in the genre of Fringe style sci-fi. Episodes 1, 2, and 3 are up now and 4, 5, and 6 will be released over the next few weeks.
Share it around if you like it. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. I think we've done exceptionally well for making a show with a budget of $0.

Hamzah Hamas Al Dajannah |

Production values on those episodes were damn good for such a low budget production. I can't say I found the story and acting up to the level of the production values and special effects. Dialogue could use some tweaking. The scenes lacked a level of intensity that fit what was occurring. No noticeable sweat or fearful reaction at seeing such a mind-blowing evil being.
If someone is dealing with some kind of extreme situation like outlined in the story, you would expect a more visceral reaction. The emotive acting in the film needs should be stepped up. I'm not expecting extreme dramatics, but there should be some subtle emotive performances added to the delivery of dialogue to strengthen the intensity of each scene.
The actors seemed to be delivering dialogue absent personality to sum it up. Needs more emotion in the more intense scenes.

Gunk |

Thanks for the feedback Hamzah. For quite some time now I've been concerned by the 'woodenness' of the acting. It is something we are working on. Our DoP is excellent with lighting, camera angles, and editing. But there is less attention to acting than I'd like for sure. Though it does get better as we move into episodes 4-6. Truth be told, we really only have 1 person on set with any training in acting and shes an improv comedian ... not an entirely transferable skill set. Lol
Thanks for the input though. It is far more valuable than you might imagine.
PS That was me that died first. I died literally in the first episode BEFORE the credits rolled!

Hajar nar Jundi |

Is this 33GP in addition to the earlier GP we took? Also, Grim took the +1 Dagger, and don't forget to include Tempest as my loot. I'm ok with having it count as part of my overall share. Yea, I'm carrying the +1 Mace but I don't want it for good. I'll take the Masterwork Breastplate after we have cleaned it and taken the gnollstink off of it.

Raj took the brooch and bracers, and [Grim?] took the +1 dagger. Also, Dave correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the breastplate was size small.
EDIT: Hajar, if you don't want the mace, you might consider giving it to Hamzah. I know he currently uses a scimitar (I assume sarenrae's preferred weapon), but a mace is the classic cleric weapon and he could use both a magical and a bludgeoning weapon.

I think it is great that you're doing it. Keep at it.
I enjoy creative work. I write fiction. Nothing published yet. I have some short stories, a novel and a half, and a screenplay complete. No luck selling any yet. I enjoy the work, so I keep at it. You never know what might one day resonate with enough people to have your work turn into your living. I did love The X-Files. Though your work also reminds me of that magician detective Harry Dresden as well.
You were the thug that was shot and went up in flame? That was a cool effect. Costumers were pretty good too.
