OK, I re-posted the Deathwatch character sheet to the Sons of Jericho wiki to correct a problem with the check boxes not filling completely.

Also Eradico, I received your sheet and the associated files, everything looks great. I will copy over your data to the new sheet.

Rookseye,

1. If you want I'm happy to fill out your revised pdf sheet and email again if that saves you a little time.

2. Also, is it kosher if I read through Chapter XII in the Deathwatch core rulebook? I started looking at some of the background info on the Jericho Reach and wondered if it would hurt my gameplay if I read it. I assume some of what's in there would be "common knowledge" for Deathwatch Marines but some probably isn't.

3. One other thing - I've read through (not exhaustively) the section on combat. I have a basic understanding but until we actually start fighting I may not have a great handle on the various squad/solo mode options. To be honest I hope I don't (at least initially!) have the "honor" of serving as kill-team leader. :)

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

Don't worry, Eradico, we will all be learning about how the combat works as we go. From what I read, the leader switches depending on the mission, and the access to squad mode abilities and the oath taken before the mission switches with him.

That would be great Eradico, every little bit helps. The checkbox thing was driving me crazy for a bit, but then I realized I could increase the font size on the options and use a square as the check symbol and it improved things greatly.

Certainly, reading the background on the Jericho Reach can only enhance your enjoyment of the setting, there aren't a lot of big spoiler secrets in the history (that I encountered at least) and as long as you can stay 'in character' knowledge-wise, I'd actually prefer it. You guys contribute to the story as much as me, and this can only help. I do ask that you forgo reading the sample adventure though, as that might end up being my lead-in for the Emperor Protects campaign.

I'll be honest with you, I have re-read the squad-mode/solo-mode/Cohesion rules a couple of times since announcing the campaign. It is isn't the simplest mechanic, but we'll learn as we go, and should have it down once it really matters. I personally think the tough part will be tracking modes in PbP, so I've started to think about what kind of tagging we can do in posts during combat. I am also open to recommendations. Lorm has the right idea.

I will rectify it Lorm, thanks. The problem sometimes with the wiki is that it does not always update my changes unless I delete and re-upload the file. If I go the quick route and try the overwrite, the changes do not always 'stick'.

My master copies of each character are on my home PC's hard drive. I should have everyone's sheets updated by this evenings posts, if anyone else sees something awry, please let me know.

I just want to point everyone to the Scriptorium Chronicle campaign journal post that Bal just submitted, as it is excellent. You guys continue to inspire me in this game, and these internal dialogues and asides help me to direct where the campaign is going.

I'd also like to get in a sense via the OOC thread of what direction the acolytes will be taking now. Obviously Kaltos isn't in charge of his own destination at the moment, and Vincent is still trying to survive in the claustrum, but everyone else has some options as pointed out in Savalos' last post.

So, Davi, Bal, Lorm, what do you think should be next for the acolytes?

Investigate the Auldmaw's den?
Deal with the corrupted Arbites?
Try to track down Johnnie, the corrupted Commissar, or Leprade?
Look into the Withdrawn Veil, or seek out the Yellobouros?

I'll be setting up a scene today where you discuss your ideas in character, but wanted to give you an opportunity to hash things out in advance. One thing that you want to remember, is you now have enough resources at your disposal to delegate certain tasks if you so choose. After all, what fun would it be being an Inquisitor's proxy if you couldn't leverage your power?

Nice to have you back Kaltos, I'll have a post up for you shortly.

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

I think the Duct Wolves can initially deal with scouting out Leprades men, The Yellobacks, and the Withdrawn Veil.

We will definately need there help in finding Johnnie, and someone who Dunkan knows needs to warn him just in case. Stroinigli, or another trusted NPC could definately take care of that in the short run.

I think priorities should go to contacting Ahmazzi. As the Acolytes can definately use his wisdom regarding the possible possession of Johnnie. Can we perform an exocism, what are the signs of possession, and considerations we never even thought of. Sav is more than willing to head up to the Astropathic Choir.

I do feel Uriah needs to head to the Auldmaws lair with some Duct Wolves. With the sceptre he should be able to keep is bodyguards relatively safe, and if the Auldmaw can be corrupted then we need to destroy whatever it is at its source. Don't want to imagine whole packs of Duct Wolves running around like that. He is also the one who with the most experience in dealing with warp matters.

Not sure what Iacton would like to focus on. What do you guys think?

Iacton would rather get back to searching for Leprade, but if we're going to be searching the Auldmaw's lair he'll head in with you. Investigations can wait until tomorrow.

Lorm, I received your email and responded.

You read my mind on the Auldmaw's lair, and I totally agree. I will resolve it with a little bit of narrative since what occurs will not actually place anyone in peril. This will allow Savalos time to get things resolved with the Duct Wolves and the three of you to attend the war council (which is the next major scene) together. If you have any questions that occur about what happens, just add a post and we'll resolve it extemporaneously.

Uriah should have enough muscle with him if Iacton would prefer to get out ahead of things in tracking down Leprade, just give me an idea of what you would like to do. I imagine he will want to attend the war council, though, as he is likely will play a pivotal role in dealing with the corrupted Arbites.

I just figure that according to Ahmazzi's orders, this is something dealing with warp taint that Uriah would want to deal with first, since we are already here.

I'll be making up for the missed day of posts tonight, we got walloped by another storm and I've been digging out since yesterday. Shoveling fatigue set in last night, and I decided I would be better served doing some data checking/entry on the Deathwatch characters.

I also posted updated sheets for Savalos, Uriah, Iacton, and Vincent. You will notice that your most recent advances are not on the sheets. This is simple because we have run out of space! I have found a long version of the Dark Heresy sheet I plan to convert to form-field this week, and will share it and update the characters with it on the wiki as I finish them.

Caledonii looks good, and just as a reminder, you have 300XP to spend with Kaltos.

To answer Radavel, I would probably advance a DH Assassin to Rank 8 and pick one the more interesting career enhancement options they have.

Radavel wrote:

I've not played DH or RT but having read Eisenhorn and Ravenor I'd like to play some sort of bad-ass muscle like Harlon Nayl or Arianhrod the sword-expert.

As far as DW, all the "specialists" appeal to me: apothecary, librarian, tech-marine. But playing a well-rounded tactical marine would be awesome too. My choice would probably depend on the needs of the party (thus Brother Emeric!).

This post isn't much help but frankly *any* character would be cool for me in the Warhammer 40K universe.

You have good taste. I'd probably make some sort of DH character too, just because I've never really had a chance to play a high-powered one for any real length of time.

OK, Kaltos. I also neglected to add your free Elite Advance from the last round of XP. Since you were still considering between Basic Weapon Training (Bolt) and Heavy Weapon Training (Las) pending the results of the procurement of gear from Dunkan, I gave you Basic Weapon Training (Bolt) even though you didn't manage to obtain a bolt weapon, you are probably more likely to find one of these before a man portable Las-Cannon. If you prefer to change this advance to something else, please let me know and I'll adjust your sheet.

Getting some DH bookkeeping done tonight as well as finishing transfers of the Deathwatch characters to the pdf sheet.

Deathwatch OOC will be going up this week for character discussion (background/history, personality, relationships with the other members of the Kill-Team) along with the character capsules being officially posted to the wiki. We are still on target for an early February start to the campaign.

As for the Oremor Affliction NPC character advances:

Albrek:

Intimidate 100
Pilot (Military Craft) 100
Basic Weapon Training (Flame) 100

Ivaanov:

Intermediate Int 250 (50 reserved)

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

Rook, I was checking my character sheet on the Wiki, and I notice you did not change my XP total.

Sweet! Looking forward to it. And I'm glad we'll talk group logistics before starting play.

Rookseye,

I noticed that I made a mistake on my character sheet. On p.161 (Giant Among Men section) it says that due to hulking size that Marines add one to their base movement. My stats are for my agility bonus of four only, not adjusted to five.

Also on p.136 I neglected to calculate unnatural strength and toughness correctly. While wearing my armor my bonus for strength and toughness should be 10 and not 8.

Should I make changes and then send you an updated sheet or do you want to make the change? Sorry!

Also have you guys seen the Deathwatch Errata published on the FFG site? You might want to check it out. Lots of clarifications and some changes. Level One Apothecary Hardy talent is only 100 xp!

No need to worry Eradico, I made most of the adjustments already (I forgot about the Giant Among Men section also, will change that now). I have been busy putting the finishing touches on the DW characters and will be uploading them to the Sons of Jericho wiki for review soon, so you can spot any mistakes I made (a second set of eyes always helps).

I've also completed a new form-field DH character sheet for the Oremor Affliction characters based off the Ascension-style character folio, truly a labor of mind-numbing love (Lorm should be especially happy, as there are two pages reserved for psychic powers!). I am in the process of converting the DH characters to this format, a huge improvement on the limits of the existing sheet. I should also have those completed shortly.

Sorry to leave everyone in suspense for the time being in the DH game, but I want to get the bulk of this work out of the way well before we begin the Deathwatch game. My free time has been in short supply so far this week, so my posting may be spotty for a bit while I complete these other tasks.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

Don't worry about it Rook. I am sure that between family, work, weather, our DH game, and the DW game, time is short supply. All I have ever requested is that you give us the heads up.

Just a heads up, I swapped out Mighty Shot for Signature Wargear in the starting build. This way I can take advantage of the gear immediately rather than waiting for the next resupply. Mighty Shot is useful even if gained mid-mission, so I'll pick it up later (the guy with the heavy bolter will survive without his two extra damage).

I'll factor that in Ellipsis, the Deathwatch characters should be posted soon, everyone.

I'm pleased to announce that the new version of the Dark Heresy character sheets have been posted to the Oremor Affliction wiki. I think they are a vast improvement of the old sheets. I am fairly certain they are all accurate, but please take a moment to verify that they are correct and that nothing has been omitted or changed.

The first batch includes the active players, Savalos, Uriah, Iacton, Vincent, and Kaltos.

I will be adding new sheets for Johnnie and the NPC characters over the next week as I finish them.

Finally made my way through most of the Deathwatch core book (the adventure chapter excepted, of course). I'm now going back to review skills, talents, combat rules, etc. Man the chapters on the Deathwatch and Jericho's Reach are great. Jericho's Reach is, um, gonna be a real meat-grinder!

Catman I like your choice for your Marine's name and avatar. Since the Storm Wardens are very Pictish, it makes sense that they would paint themselves up like William Wallace! :)

And Rookseye, the Sons of Jericho splash page looks great. Gettin' stoked!

Thanks! I would have preferred blue tattoos but figured the pic would work.

Thanks Eradico!

There will be more to come as we gain content, I'll start posting the characters as soon as I finish them so they can be vetted for errors.

For now the categories on the navigation area are pretty self-explanatory (Battle-Brothers, Dramatis Personae) if you have seen the Oremor Affliction wiki. The Omega Vault will be the equivalent of the Dataslate Archives, housing all of the miscellaneous lore of the campaign. The Tower of Brass (named for the Inquisitorial Bastion on Watch Station Erioch) will be used to help track Mission Objectives, Cohesion, Requisition, Renown, and Squad/Solo data. The Mission Log will be just that, a timeline coupled with a place to post in character descriptions of events so far.

If anyone can think of another category or page they would like to see, please let me know.

I plan on posting the Deathwatch: Sons of Jericho OOC thread tonight, as well, so that we can start fleshing out character history/personalities/relationships, and brainstorm ideas to tie things into the Emperor Protects campaign arc.

Yep, Blood of Martyrs is a really solid book, great material on the use of religion in the DH game, probably enough to support an entire campaign for the Ecclesiarchy.

The Red Redemption storyline for this Oremor Affliction has been around since the inception (chiefly through Ishmael's character) and I'm really excited we've reached this point because I think it will contribute greatly to the overarching story we're creating. The Blood of Martyr's source material has already proven useful.
