Marcellano advances slowly, at a slight distance behind Adolina and Robin. "Highly unlikely, Robin. The type of magics used for such a conjuration are unlikely to be the domain of ogrekin." He gazes uneasily at the door. "...I suppose we'd best try that, eh?"

Finally able to get back in. Between Paizo site issues, and the *%%$^^&*&^ campground wifi absolutely stinking, first time I have been able to post, other than 1 quick one a few days ago (while the site was up for 10 minutes), and one yesterday, since Saturday afternoon. I would have posted more yesterday but it was my wife's birthday, and part of her present from me is keeping off the computer!

DM rolls:

[dice="saw" blades; Robin AC20; Adolina AC22]d20+14;d20+14;2d6+7)[/dice]

Robin and Adolina sneak up onto the porch, intent on checking out the door. However, as they step up, blades from underneath the porch pop up thru the cracks in the boards damaging the two scouts.

@Marcellano - That is one of the few museums / attractions that my wife and I have not been too. One of these days, when the grand daughter loses her excitement of going to the zoo we will end up going there.

Totally understand with the boards being unworkable lately.

"Yeow!" cries the bard as he's suddenly cut from underneath by a blade. "Guess that confirms there's trouble in here!"

Robin nurses his wounds, then checks to see if there's any risk of the blades coming up again. If so, he will help Adolina disable the trap. Auto pass the assist roll if it's needed to give Adolina a +2.

So a 28 failed to note traps. Seems we have graduated to the big time. :)

Cadas looks on at first concerned at the blade trap but then sees that the wounds are more superficial. She waits for the door to be opened.

Depending on how you interpret it, could be we were just too focused on the door to see the trap on the floor!

Adolina leaps back instinctively, clutching at her side where the scythe hit. A cursory inspection shows that the wound is not deep - her pride is hurt as much as her body.

"Well we found the trap..." she manages with a slightly strained smile. "I'll be extra careful this time."

Taking care to step past the scythe this time she kneels at the door and deploys her thieves tools (assuming that no addition traps are detected).

Adolina and Robin, makes sure that there are no additional traps on the porch, looking down at the boards, as well as looking up at the covering and determine that the porch is now trap free. Moving to the door, Adolina discovers a trap in the door, spikes that would pop out and stab anyone, and she quiet easily disarms it.

Listening at the door, the two scouts here nothing inside, and Adolina checks the door and it is not locked.

Swinging open the front door, you see a mangy bearskin rug lies before a tremendous hearth set into the wall, its pained visage still snarling at whatever cruel hunter took its life. A huge couch haphazardly upholstered in animal hide and human flesh, replete with a collection of talons, monstrous hairy spider’s legs, fox heads, and human hands and feet, sits to the west. There is only one other exit from the room on the opposite wall.

DM rolls:

Adolina DD: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (18) + 21 = 39

Moving stealthily across, with all her senses extended for traps, Adolina discovers a trap near the couch, and must disable it because it also lies next to the door on the other side of the room.

Bending down near the trap, she figures out a way to stop the floor from opening and dropping you down into a pit. Moving to the door she listens and hearing nothing, she opens the door and sees a hallway both leading north with three doors and heading west with one door. There also appears to be a set of stairs just to the north.

I say we try the western door first, clear a room properly. Robin and I can go first, try to be as quiet as possible."

Suiting actions to words she re-crosses the room and moves up the corridor to the western door, checks it carefully and, when all her companions are ready, attempts to open it.

Moving to the door to the west, Adolina finds the door not locked, and hears nothing on the other side. Opening the door, you see

The cloying stink of this room is nearly overwhelming. Buckets of filth are stacked against the walls, fat ravenous flies lazily circling their rims. The room itself is dominated by an immense bed, its ratty sheets stained beyond hope. A huge easel sits next to the bed with a palette of various shades of brown and red paint. The sources of these morbid pigments—several crushed organs and ragged stumps of flesh—sit in receptacles next to the easel. A set of brushes made with human hair jut from a broken skull by the easel, while a comb made from a human mandible sits on a small oak bedside table nearby, its teeth clotted with thick strands of greasy black hair. The bodies of three horribly deformed ogrekin dressed in ragged finery are standing in front of the door, their mouths sewn tightly shut with lengths of hair.

On the bed sits six hugely obese creatures that seem blurry and shifting, as the door opens they scream "kill them" as her hands move as if casting a spell.

"Woah, mama!" Robin is definitely taken aback by the large ogre and her protectors. "Why'd you sow their mouths shut - want to save all the food for yourself?" Robin starts taunting the enemies, encouraging his allies and also hoping to get them burning with anger - literally!

Move action - Inspire Courage (+2 atk/dmg). 12 rounds remaining
Standard action - Blistering Invective, affects all enemies within 30'

Blistering Invective:
You unleash an insulting tirade so vicious and spiteful that enemies who hear it are physically scorched by your fury. When you cast this spell, make an Intimidate check to demoralize each enemy within 30 feet of you. Enemies that are demoralized this way take 1d10 points of fire damage and must succeed at a Reflex save or catch fire. Spell Resistance can negate the fire damage caused by this spell, but does not protect the creature from the demoralizing effect.

Taunt: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (9) + 17 = 26. vs 10+HD+Wis or target is demoralized for 1 round +1 round for every 5 over the DC.
Fire Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 4 only if the target is demoralized.
If the target is demoralized, Reflex DC17 or the target catches on fire.

Catch on Fire:
Characters exposed to burning oil, bonfires, and non-instantaneous magic fires might find their clothes, hair, or equipment on fire. Spells with an instantaneous duration don't normally set a character on fire, since the heat and flame from these come and go in a flash.

Characters at risk of catching fire are allowed a DC 15 Reflex save to avoid this fate. If a character's clothes or hair catch fire, he takes 1d6 points of damage immediately. In each subsequent round, the burning character must make another Reflex saving throw. Failure means he takes another 1d6 points of damage that round. Success means that the fire has gone out—that is, once he succeeds on his saving throw, he's no longer on fire.

A character on fire may automatically extinguish the flames by jumping into enough water to douse himself. If no body of water is at hand, rolling on the ground or smothering the fire with cloaks or the like permits the character another save with a +4 bonus.

Those whose clothes or equipment catch fire must make DC 15 Reflex saves for each item. Flammable items that fail take the same amount of damage as the character.

Sorry this spell is so complicated, but it's also so thematic!

Robin casts a spell, and the zombies ignore the words coming from the bard, however the obese woman on the bed reacts poorly to the words, and her clothes catch on fire. Marcellano(bot), is so far back in the line approaching the room, that he does nothing. Adolina tumbles past the zombies at the door and attacks the creature on the bed, however she realizes that she hit an image as one of the creatures disappears and now there are five creatures on the bed. Atrius(bot) steps up and the zombie in front of him is dead, this time permanently.

One of the zombies steps back to attack Adolina, and the other steps on the dead zombie and attacks Atrius, however both of them miss. Mammy concentrates, and casts a spell on Adolina.

Strangely the game does not have a condition called "sitting"; only standing and prone. I'd say if you are lounged on a bed you are prone, even if you were sitting up. On the other hand if you are perched on the side of the bed with feed on the floor then you are 'standing" for game purposes. Its not reasonable to have some in between condition with none of the disadvantages of prone but with a bonus that you cannot be made prone. Would standing up from sitting provoke an AOO? Would you take a minus to attack if sitting? I an not sure the game considers this quite normal thing.

Mama Grul weighs upwards of a few tonnes if I recall correctly - I think the issue may be that she COULDNT sit up even if she wanted to. If I were the GM I'd say she was prone but simply ignore the penalties since that's what she's used to so it doesn't impact her significantly - the extra source of fire damage may help though!

As Marcellano finishes chanting, a tiny ball of light, surrounded by a metalwork lattice etched in runes, appears floating over Atrius's head. Evildoer! its voice rings out, oddly comprehensible even if you don't speak the Celestial language. You shall be smote from the face of this world!

It zips across the room and fires a bolt of light at Mammy.

Light ray!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 vs. touch
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2 (overcomes any DR)

Marcellano himself moves down the hallway to get a better view. "You'll never get those spells off," he says, disgust dripping from his voice as he sketches an eldritch rune on his forehead and stares at Mammy, eyes glowing slightly. "Magic takes years of careful study...almost ascetic discipline...something your kind would know nothing about!"

Casting bungle on Mammy. She has to make a Will save DC 16 to avoid that spell, as well as a DC 13 Will save to resist the lantern archon's aura of menace. If she fails the bungle save, a -20 to her next d20 roll (for an action that she deliberately takes on her turn). If she fails the aura of menace save, she takes a -2 to attacks, AC, and saves until she successfully hits the archon.

Since you can summon it up to short range (35 feet away) why not let it get 2 attacks its first round?

I think I still have to summon it in line of sight--which at the start of my turn meant either above Atrius or adjacent to Mammy. :S

DM rolls:

Robin;cutting wit: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Mammy;will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 vs DC 16
Atrius fauchard: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 321d10 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 161d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 171d10 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 vs AC 18 Mammy
Mammy;grave touch: 1d20 + 10 - 20 ⇒ (5) + 10 - 20 = -5 vs T AC 20 Adolina

Robin uses his cutting remark to do some non lethal damage to the woman, hoping to interrupt her spellcasting. The archon that Marcellano summoned attempts to damage her with its light ray, but misses. Marcellano, meanwhile, casts a spell on Mammy, also hoping to interrupt her spellcasting. Adolina repeatedly attacks Mammy, however all her attacks only dispel an image, which sets up Cadas who moves in, enlarges herself and attacks Mammy with her trident, damaging the creature. Atrius(bot) steps up and swings twice, hitting once, and damaging the creature.

Mammy tries to reach out and touch Adolina, but bungles the attempt.

@Robin - in the spoiler you say d4; you rolled d6. I re-rolled it in the DM rolls spoiler.

Cadas is unsure of the level of threat this pitiful creature really poses and chooses to save resources. She stabs at the woman and then returns to her normal size.
