"This is beautiful!" Adolina remarks in tones of delight as Marcellano returns the scimitar to her. She can't resist taking practise swings as they move on and foresakes her customary stealth - a decision she ends up regretting.

-------------------------------------
Trying to fight off the chilling lethargy that the spirit's touch leaves Adolina slow and clumsy but she attacks none-the-less, her new scimitar slicing through the air as her eyes try to find a weak spot to strike.

Study target (move) then attack.

Incorporeal Touch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 261d8 ⇒ 4 vs Adolina AC 22

Marcellano fires a magic missile at the creature damaging it. Adolina using her new scimitar, also wounds the creature. Cadas casts spiritual weapon and the force trident hits the creature, while Robin takes out a wand and touches the creature, and it recoils from the positive energy.

The spectre reaches out Adolina, touches her again and as before she feels more of her life force drain away.

I'm not sure about the will save against the wand - you only take saves vs. effects that don't have to hit. Getting the touch off with the wand is the 'difficult' bit in this situation.

DESCRIPTION

When laying your hand upon a living creature, you channel positive energy that cures 1d8 points of damage +1 point per caster level (maximum +5). Since undead are powered by negative energy, this spell deals damage to them instead of curing their wounds. An undead creature can apply Spell Resistance, and can attempt a Will save to take half damage.

Cadas calls the weapon to her side and watches, letting others search this place. If I cast another spell this weapon will dissipate. she explains.

I believe I can help you fully recover Adeline, but unfortunately I was more prepared to fight ogre today and not undead. I can do little until the morning. Cadas explains. Are these currently temporary negative levels, or permanent? Does Adeline get some type of save to avoid them becoming permanent? If so is there anything a cleric can do to help with the save like a heal check or a spell?

Narrator [Maps, handouts, pictures: Links in top of page spoiler]

The creature was a Spectre, and bestows two negative levels with each hit. Per the Energy Drain monster rule, they are temporary for 24 hours, then a save for each drained level or it becomes permanent. Read the Energy Drain link for details.

Which way now? You have three options,

3) the tunnel going down at the "red 3"

Checking around the room, you find that the cutout shelves in the walls hold many of the fallen Black Arrow members. It seems that the men and women were prudent when burying their dead, and all the weapons and armor are simply ceremonial and not of any use.

So, after reading the relevant text here is the deal. In the morning Cadas can remove the negative levels at no cost in material components. If they were to become permanent then it would cost 1000 gp/level and only one a week could be restored. My read it that one spell will restore all temporary negative levels.

Cadas asks the group Do we begin fighting ogres or deal with what is below, which likely includes shocker lizards . I vote forward to put down the ogres.

"Yup!" Robin nods vigorously in agreement. "I'll make us invisible again and we can go through the other secret door to meet some ogres!"

When the party is ready to move, he casts Invisibility Sphere on Marcellano again to proceed forward.

Sorry, I got nothing until in the morning. I have a wand of Lesser Restoration but no Restoration scrolls. Perhaps add that to the buy list for party items? I even checked the spell like abilities of all the creatures Cadas can summon. But you do have Barksin still(+3 Natural Armor) so you should be able to tank. And Cadas can hit you with divine favor for +2 to hit and damage for a short term buff. That will help.

Spells on, note all of these last 80 minutes or more:

Barksin on herself and Adolina (+3 Natural Armor)

Magic Circle 10' radius against Evil - grants +2 deflection to AC and+2 resistance on saves if you are in the circle.

Resist Energy Communal - 20 points of electrical resistance

Delay Poison, Communal

Aura of Doom - DC 19 Will Save when you get within 10' of Cadas or become shaken (-2 to stuff)

Her current AC is 27 or 28 until she is hit the first time.

Moving back to the secret door(Red 1) that led to the building you burned down, you find that the building must have fallen against the door, because it is too difficult to open. Heading back to the north and the second secret door(Red 2), you prepare yourselves, as Robin makes the group invisible and open the door to the courtyard just outside the fort proper, but within the outer wall.

Hearing sounds to your left, you see Shalelu, and Jakardros with their bows, shooting arrow after arrow at ogres climbing up the pile of rubble at the gate, and Vale with his battle axe and hand axe protecting the two archers. There are screams of dying ogres in the collapsed building to your left(B4), and at least a dozen ogres on the ground in front of the pile of rubble.

Two of the ogres in front of Vale, look normal while the three other remaining ogres appear to be tougher than normal.

I think the plan all along was to exit Red 2. Gotta try to keep the secret of the secret doors and we knew the fire was there at Red 1. Plus buffs are running and it takes too long to cross that bridge.
Also I think our scale is wrong for the map squares. Legend says each square is 20' but our scale suggests 10'. And finally, with buffs Cadas' AC is 4 higher than stated. [/ooc]

Its a long way to our friends. Cadas notes. And I am slow in this armor. She waits for her friends to act before deciding what to do.

Need to know proper scale so I know if there is any way to help this round. I think I could summon an air elemental that could charge an ogre. Not much else could get there.

Adolina waits a moment till Marcellano casts his spell and then moves up. Everyone stays near to the invisible mage, and once at the furthest you can get, Cadas casts a summoning spell and five small air elementals appear, one next to each of the ogres and attack. The three on the tougher looking ogres miss, while the two on the regular looking ogres actually manage to hit. Adolina using her small crossbow wounds one of the tough ogres, and she becomes visible.

Vale, Shalelu and Jakardros concentrate their attacks on one ogre, and put it down.

The badly wounded ogre, turns around and sees Adolina, crossbow in hand, and runs to her. The other ogre in the back, seeing one go down, moves up to be able to attack vale, while the two in front both attack the dual wielding ranger, and he is hit, but he is hit hard, and the so far not wounded ranger is bleeding.

Robin moves ahead of the group, finding some cover behind a building (and leaving the invisibility sphere).

"The cavalry's on its way!" shouts the small halfling. His allies feel heartened as Robin calls out their arrival.

@Adolina - You have to be within 10 feet of dim light and since it is day time and closest "shade" is at least 15 feet away, the hide in plain sight is not effective.
Marcellano - tough battle, I really don't want to bot anyone, please.

Marcellano takes a step smartly away from the ogre Cadas is fighting (5' north) and blasts the tough-looking ogre fighting at the wall--the one who stepped forward to engage the rangers.

Scorching ray time.

Adolina drops her crossbow and removes her scimitar from its sheath in one smooth motion - still marvelling at how light the weapon is. She slices once, twice, thrice across the ogre's legs, hoping to tip the ungainly creature onto the floor, sidestepping as she does so.

Marcellano, takes a step away from the ogre that approached Adolina and shoots a scorching ray at the tougher ogre that approached the rangers on the wall. His first ray hits and damages the ogre, however the second ray misses, and he becomes visible. Adolina drops her crossbow as the ogre sees her, and swinging the new scimitar she hits it two times. Robin moves next to the closest building and begins to inspire his team with his performance. Two of Cadas small elementals swing at the ogre running towards the group, and one nicks it. Several of them attack the wounded ogre who moved up, but only nick it while the other two miss, however providing flanking positions for the rangers on the pile of dirt.

Vale and the two archers take out the wounded regular ogre.

The two tough ogres, clobber Vale and he goes down. The ogre on Adolina, wounds her badly.
