For resources, Seren is fine. Since he's been fairly useless, he hasn't expended much. I'd be more concerned about the healers.

Cherias will take Segang's hand and lead him to the tunnel (whichever we choose to use, Cherias prefers the north one).


The darkness magic fades after a couple minutes, so it is not a permanent obstacle for Segang and Seren. Heading north, the passage leads back towards the entrance, at the intersection between the ossuary and sirge room. That leaves the group with two options... the odorous passage south from the stirges, or the door east from the trapped hallway.

I don't think there's a wand... that's why I've been using up lots of heals.

Okay, the consensus seems to be "rest", so I pose question #2: do you want to leave and rest at your quarters in the city, or stay in the dungeon. If stay, I need to know where and what watch/defenses you're setting up.

Well, I can see an argument against it -- it will give the derro time to regroup or flee. But I also don't see a way to contrive a secure resting location in this rabbit's warren of tunnels and secret doors, at least without a 'rope trick' spell or something. I think returning to rest in the city is pretty much our only option, and I also think we should sell the repeating crossbows -- should be worth 125g each -- and buy some potions before we come back down, as I don't think we can quite afford a wand yet.

Okay, you arrived at the Dead Warrens in the evening, so after rest and any stops to the market, it will be mid-morning when you are able to return. Let me know exactly what you plan to buy, or if you have any side-bar plans, before we resume the dungeon crawl.

Let's suppose we sell the three repeating crossbows. They're nice, but none of us are proficient in them. Each is 125g, the swords are 5g, and the leather armor is 5g, so with the coins we have 405g total. I think maybe 8 scrolls of CLW would be a good investment? That would cost 200, and we could divide them equally between Mel and Cherias. Then we have 205 divided 5 ways for the remaining coin, so that's 41, but if someone wants to buy something more expensive we can probably pool money. Maybe a scroll of daylight? Hmm, no, too expensive. Unless a used magic shop has a wand of CLW with like 12 charges on it or something.

hmm. You would still have to have a mentor who provided you with your spell book I think. Seems you should still get the free ones to start with and then 2 more when you level.

I took the 2 for leveling, but not the X number for first level (whatever that was). Ill reread it, but it made sense at the time.

Normally, finding a partially charged wand for sale in a city the size of Korvosa would be pretty likely, but given the current economical crisis, I'll give it a 50% chance that Faliz has one on hand...

Cherias comes back to the group with two long scrolls, each with four castings of Cure Light Wounds, and hands one over to Melianthe.

In the morning, his face looks troubled in the dawn light, with dark coloring under his eyes where his fur gets thin, as if he had trouble sleeping last night.

The above is just for flavor. Spells reset and ready to go. To maximize his HP, Cherias would use his last spell before going to bed: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 and a night's rest heals 3 more, giving HP of 24 -- good enough.

I think DM said it was morning after resting, so we'd be underground during the daytime, which would probably be just as good for her.
