Segang |

Segang will go and visit his tribe during the downtime, strengthening the bond there. He will also offer to help any in his party with anything they might need.
If money is available he will check into getting a +1 cloak of protection and getting his armor enchanted to +1 AC.
Is anyone in the party going to take any crafting feats?

Absinthe Mooneyes |

I'm thinking of taking Master Craftsman at some point, after which I might take Craft Magic Weapon. But that's the future...

Segang |

Still contemplating the witch hunter part of the tree. Might change that. Thoughts? I know no one liked my pick of Superstitious, but it works pretty well with life link and channeling.
And everyone help me remember it. I have to save against friendly magic now too IF I am raging. But since dropping out of rage does not fatigue me if I do not full rage I can drop rage for free, and start it again for free.
Hmm. And it seems I need a 15 con to pick up my planned level 5 feat, Raging Vitality. That means I gotta move that point I put into strength to Con. Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Melianthe Ssulissien |

Segang, helo, I'm RIGHT HERE, while you spout your witch prejudice. :P
I hadn't noticed you took Superstitious...a bit of a double edged sword. I like CAGM barbarians myself, but I'm sure it will work. I have a feeling we will meet more casters, hence my spell choices. And I'm not a good buffer, so you're mainly losing out from Cherias' life glow.

Cherias the Kitling |

Since channel and lifelink are Su abilities, superstition doesn't require a save.

Cherias the Kitling |

Addendum to previous post: I'm taking my 4th level ability adjustment in Intelligence, instead -- I think more skill points will help more at this point.

Cherias the Kitling |

OK, I just realized I've been calculating my encumberance wrong and Cherias, even with just his armor, is at medium encumberance. DM, is it possible to purchase Darkleaf Cloth armor in Korsova? Also, is Lamellar Leather an option, or is that too exotic?

Cherias the Kitling |

I can't be slowed by encumberance but it can still apply a penalty to my skills.
That's an interesting item, but I don't see that it's worth being twice the price of Muleback Cords.
Edit: Actually, I see why. It triples your carrying capacity, as opposed to providing a fixed increase. However, for my low strength, the fixed increase is about as good as tripling, whereas a high strength character would have a much better boost.

Segang |

And it takes you belt slot, allowing you to wear a cloak. Cheaper than a strength boost belt and and better for encumbrance. My strength 7 cleric in PFS just bought one.

Cherias the Kitling |

Segang, I took Shield Other as my 2nd level spell. If I make a habit of casting this on you, this would give you a +1 to AC and a +1 to saves, for 4 hours at a time. It would make using a cloak unnecessary.

Cherias the Kitling |

Cherias will also take time to help Abby research Blackjack and find out what people are saying about him. Knowledge(local) aid another: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Unfortunately, during the research, he gets distracted staring dreamily at a portrait of the masked mystery man in a book. Diplomacy to gather information: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 His discreet inquiries are more fruitful, however.

DM NomadSage |

Although the legend of Blackjack has always been popular among the poorest people, as their defender against the injustices of the rich and powerful, it still remained popular among many of the latter class, as a dramatic and defiant example of Korvosa's character. Of all the things said about King Eodred's rule, he was a fair and even hand who kept his subordinates in line. Thus, Blackjack has not been seen in many years. His sudden reappearance has many people conflicted, knowing that supporting the vigilante will incite more chaos and violence in the city, to which most everyone is opposed after the recent riots.

Cherias the Kitling |

Yay, paizo.com is up and running again, apparently.
So, question for you, DM. I've been thinking for a while that choosing the Angelic Blood feat at 3rd level was a mistake and I really should have gone with the Energy Body revelation via the Extra Revelation feat. Is there any way I could retrain it, using the retraining rules in Ultimate Campaign, and flavor the retraining in character as Cherias seeking out temples to pray in to understand his connection to the divine more fully? The cost of 'retraining' would be 200g, which would represent tithes to the temples I suppose.

Spellbook is worth:
15 gp for the book
21 0-levels at 5gp each
8 1st levels at 10 gp eag
6 2nd levels at 40 gp each
3 3rd levels at 90 gp each
Total is: 620gp, sell for half: 310gp.
What else did we have to sell/split up gear wise from the derros etc?

Cherias the Kitling |

The wand of ghoul touch or whatever it was, the 2nd level spell, was the most valuable prize. After I get back to my pc (I need to run to a doctor for a sore throat) I'll look back through the thread and add up stuff.

Cherias the Kitling |

Spellbook as per Seren: 620g
From Otyugh:
necklace: ?
Mw silver dagger: 322g
elixir of vision: 250g
From the library:
Scroll of Identify: 25g (Seren and Mel could learn this)
Scroll of Command Undead: 150g (Seren could learn this but it's his opposition school. That wouldn't stop him from casting this from the scroll, however.)
From the necromancer:
ring of protection: 1000g -> Segang has it currently. See below.
Wand of Ghoul Touch (44): 3960g
From the other derro:
Repeating light crossbow: 250g (assuming he was armed in the same fashion as the other derro)
Shortsword: 10g
leather armor: 10g
From the Ogre:
+1 Studded Leather armor: 1175g -> Cherias currently has it.
Selling EVERYTHING would net 3886g, not counting the necklace since we don't know its value and as a valuable it possibly can be sold at full price.
Divided 5 ways, that's 777.2g
We can handle people taking individual items either by us buying them at half price out of our shares, or just giving them to the people who can use them best.
Money reward: 1500gp.
Previous purchases had 41g left over for everyone after we sold the gear and purchased scrolls, so if anyone didn't add that to their totals, they should.
I think we should buy a wand of CLW right away, considering the trouble we had last time.
Let's visit Fisal's shop or whatever his name was to see what wands are available.
Segang, one thing I should note is that the ring of protection would not stack with the Shield Other spell that Cherias now knows. It might be useful for Cherias to cast that on you on a regular basis, and let someone else use the ring, Absinthe perhaps. We'd have to invest 50g in a pair of platinum rings, but that's hardly a big deal.
Cherias would look for an armorer with darkleaf cloth available or who can order it. He will ask for the best leather-like armor available. If any of the armorers know about Leather Lamellar he'll get that. Otherwise he'll get darkleaf cloth studded leather, and give the +1 studded leather back to Segang, or sell it and split it with the team. This may be something where he'll have to pay up front and wait for it to be ready.

Segang |

Good job on the loot summary. Thanks for doing that. A couple minor corrections.
For the scroll of Identify, I think its either Serin OR Mel can learn it. I know Mel has to destroy it to learn it. I do not think that a wizard can learn it without reading it and consuming it either.
And the ring is actually worth 2000 gold, not 1000. Segang is not too worried about his AC and will give it up if someone else really needs it. That said, he does not want to sell it as someday he will likely buy one. I love the idea of Shield Other in general but its hard to maintain as its short range. So if we ever get more than 35' away from each other the spell ends. That can be hard to maintain in a fight. And you may have to drop Segang from the life link without the shield other going, but Segang will certainly spring for the rings.
That scroll of Command Undead rocks, as it does not allow a save if used on mindless undead. So it just works on even a giant zombie, or ogre skeleton, etc.

Keep the scrolls and the ring, someone will use them all. I won't scribe command undead nor do I see ever memorizing identify, but it's handy to have in a pinch.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Cherias the Kitling |

If Seren learns it, the obvious thing to do would be for him to then scribe another one of the spell and give it to Mel to learn it.
Correct on the ring, sorry about that. Corrected total: 4386g, with 877.2 per person.
That's true about the spell ending prematurely, we might have to be careful about delaying our movements so that the other can get closer.

Melianthe Ssulissien |

Happy to hold onto a CLW wand for some (ideally out of combat) healing, and yes, Mel's pet scorpion will need to eat the scroll for her to learn it.
At least they aren't, y'know, Prisoner and Jailer Rings. ;)

Absinthe Mooneyes |

I'd love a ring of protection. ^^
If Seren does take bith scrolls and puts them in his book, he can then scribe scrolls of both, which means Mel can take them (if they're on her list) and I can use them with UMD.
Win?

Segang |

Are we behind on wealth? Before we split up what we just earned Segang has 187 gold, two masterwork weapons, masterwork armor, and a few +1 arrows. He does not even have a potion.
He cannot even afford a cloak of resistance. Seems like he should have a little more at 4th level. Maybe a magic weapon? Am I missing something? Was that reward suppose to be 1500 each? lol.

Cherias the Kitling |

Well, this doesn't directly address the wealth problem, but Shield Other provides a +1 resistance bonus on saves, too.
DM, would it be reasonable to think there's a temple or chapel to Arshea somewhere in Korvosa? Or is that too minor a god to have one there?

Cherias the Kitling |

Segang, do you want the +1 studded leather? As discussed above, Cherias is custom ordering darkleaf cloth lamellar leather armor.
Sell: mwk studded leather: 87.5g
buy darkleaf cloth lamellar leather: 810g
net cost: 722.5g
(this won't get me below medium encumberance, but it will at least get me closer.)
This is Cherias's only major purchase. It should leave enough for a share of the CLW wand and the platinum rings for shield other.

Absinthe Mooneyes |

Okay, after subtracting the gear we're keeping, what is now everyone's share? I freely admit I'm lowering the total by keeping the ring and the scroll.

Doubt that she'd be more effective ... Seren's caster level is equal to his character level and he doesn't roll UMD, but in character, I'd rather she have it since he abhors necromancy

Absinthe Mooneyes |

Not all Necromancy is foul and abhorrent. False Life, for instance, is a good and useful spell. Halt Undead and Command Undead are also good. ^^

Segang |

If you keep the ring Absinthe, you may owe money... Is sale price is 1000.00 and I do not think we have that much each. The +1 studded leather is the same AC as his masterwork lamellar leather, so no, he would rather sell that so he can get the money to enchant the armor he has, especially if he is giving up the +1 ring.

Cherias the Kitling |

OK if we are keeping:
Scroll of Control Undead
Scroll of Identify
Ring of protection
Then the new total is 3298.5, or 659.7 each, plus 300 each from the reward, thus 959.7.
Are we going to give the ring to whoever needs it most in the team, or have them 'buy it' out of their share from the rest of the group?
I suspect DM is waiting for one of us to do an appraise check to find out how much the necklace is worth.
Assume Cherias casts guidance on whoever wants to do that or aid the person looking at it.
Appraise aid another: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 1 = 9 Oh, so close. Oh well.

You'd have to understand the undead in order to control (abhorrent) or even halt them.
Seren won't do that.
He will, however, reroll spellcraft on waterbreathing and learn identify.
waterbreathing: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29; week 2 success
identify: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14; fail ...
identify: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27; week 2 success
With 12.5 gp, he scribes another scroll for Mel

Absinthe Mooneyes |

So... is the group consensus that anyone who keeps stuff has to 'buy it off' against the party's funds? 'Cause I kind of need money to buy better equipment and whatnot, and yet I'd hate to lose such a fine item as a ring of protection.

Cherias the Kitling |

I'd be more in favor of giving the items to whoever needs them, with the caveat that if one person has significantly more value in items than the rest, they let someone else have an item, even if it would help them, or give it to the party funds. But if everyone else votes for a money pool instead, I'll go along with it.

I prefer Cherias' method as well.

Segang |

What do we do with items that will benefit lots of people? Segang will "buy" the ring before letting it be sold. But i figure that means he will get no gold from the current take. But that seems fare. And if he ends up with he he can hand it off to other front liners like Absinthe while he has the Shield Other spell going.
Segang has around 1500.00 worth of gear, including the following.
MW Lamellar Leather Armor
Masterwork Earthbreaker
Masterwork composite Long Bow
9 +1 arrows
5 Adamantine arrows
Masterwork Spear
He could sell the spear, but it has come in handy.
The ring, or its cash value, brings him up to around 2500.00. But that is less than half of the starting wealth for a normal 4th level character. How is everyone else doing? I do not recall that anyone has any more than this really.

Cherias the Kitling |

This adventure may be a treasure-light campaign, which isn't a problem as far as I'm concerned, but Cherias has significantly less than that in gear.

Segang |

I am good with it too and certainly do not want to sell valuable items for cash.
I do grow concerned about our combat effectiveness in general. That last fight was pretty tough. Playing smart we still had a hard time. Will the next fight be even tougher? One factor is our wealth level. Without the cash to upgrade armor, get resistance items, and enchant weapons we may have a hard time.

DM Fflash |

I think we fought half the dungeon at once. We need to be a bit more circumspect, I think. Less gear, more smart skill and spell decisions pre combat.
I don't know what my WBL is, nor do I care. It's an AP, so the loot is built appropriately. We may have missed some, which is fine. Makes the loot we find that much more exciting.
In the event we cannot determine the best fit for an item, we roll it off. If there is more than one item rolled off in a horde, the winners will graciously sit out of subsequent roll offs. When you are done with an item, it is returned to the party for redistribution or sale.

Melianthe Ssulissien |

Perhaps someone enterprising can make a Loot Grid for the party?
Seren and I need to coordinate our spell choices, for sure. Witches are best as single opponent debuffers, and I plan to run things using the Witches' Guide to Shutting Down Enemies as my holy book. Did Abby and Segang flank much in the last combat? That's a big strength.
