hehe oops. I see it, it was an ooc. Probably why I missed it. I usually only read oocs when I am the DM cause you can roleplay those kind of questions. My bad. I am standing at 2hp now.

Dargail recoils in pain as the darkspawn finds its mark. He roars and attacks 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 For:1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Male Qunari Fighter 1

Power Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 for 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (2, 4) + 8 = 14

Maraas, angry now at his failure, lines up a powerful swing!

The genlock is probably dead, so no point in staying here for Kalyn. She'll go and flank the closest hurlock on Dargail.Don't think i'll need an Acrobatic check, since the genlock should be dead, and kalyn isn't crossing an enemy area

moves to flank a hurlock on Dargail
attack with flank bonus 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 1 + 2 = 18

The rapier goes deep inside the darkspawn flesh
damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
sneak attack damage 1d6 ⇒ 6

"Mend your defense, stone child!" Aloris shouts off to Dargail, flipping the matted hair from his face. "My magic is spent!"

Well, nearly. he thinks coyly, lobbing another arcane blast at his enemy.

I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out which targets are still viable and which are already defeated. In instances like this is it okay to simply say "the most likely candidate" and have you fill in the rest for me?

Storm Burst attack: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16 vs. touch AC (assuming they're in melee, otherwise +4)
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1 nonlethal damage, -2 to all attacks for 1 round.

-Dargail,stands wounded and flanked by the two hurlocks. He swings but they easily avoid his clumsy blow.
-Aloris casts another flare of static at one of the hurlocks. The two Hurlocks try to hit Dargail, but one is blinded by the electricity, and the other's blow glances off the Dwarf's shield
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
-Maaras charges the Genlock and reduces it to a red mist...it never saw him coming.
-Kalyn rolls into positiong behind one of the Hurlocks and stabs in behind the knee. The knee buckles, but it is still standing...and fighting.
-Dargail is flanked by two Hurlocks, one of which is seriously wounded. Kalyn is in position flanking a hurlock. The Dalish is at the mouth of the tunnel. Maaras is 20 feet away, flicking bits of Genlock off his sword and armor...
I know the text maps are kind of terrible, but my relation with technology is bad as I live in China, and have a school issued computer. If anybody has any free suggestions put them over in the OOC thread
Round 3
Dargail
Aloris
Darkspawn
Kalyn
Maraas

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

Already put mine, that is using Maptool

Male Dwarf Templar lvl 1

Dargail is heaving under the pain of his injury. Regardless he readies himself to try again. He aims to put down the wounded one if he can help it. He attacks with a mighty swing:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 For:1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

-The wounded Hurlock falls backwards, dropping it's weapon. It's either dead, or dying.
-The last one, seeing it's surrounded goes for the killing blow on Dargail
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
It stikes through and slams a mighty blow into Dargail
2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1) + 3 = 8

Aloris should be before Kalyn, but the hurlock already acted out of initiative
Kalyn shouts "Maraas, need help badly here" while once again thrusting her rapier in the hurlock's back

attack flank 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
damage (piercing) 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
SA damage 1d6 ⇒ 6

Male Human

Aloris huffs angrily at the Hurlock, watching the dwarf fall. He flips his bow from his back and looses an arrow at the creature.

Attack: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2 vs. AC
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5 damage

Male Qunari Fighter 1

Maraas flies at the murderous Hurlock and aims to cut him down to size.

Power Attack 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16 for 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (6, 2) + 8 = 16

-The solo Hurlock is ripped to bits by the triple attacks of the two elves and the Qunari.
-In the center of the room is a strange, stone altar. It looks very old, and not of human, elven or dwarven make. You can make out what apear to be abstract designs of fish and reptiles carved into the altar. In addition there are recent blood stains on the top and sides of the altar.
Knowledge Religion or Knowledge History to learn more about it. Or what ever skill you may think is relevant and why.

Aloris gingerly steps around the corpses and looks around the room. He stops at the altar, and puzzles over it.

Knowledge Nature to attempt to identify what sorts of fish and reptiles might be carved into the altar. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Knowledge History 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Kalyn sits down some seconds, catching her breath. She turns to Aloris "All yours!! I'm not really into old scratched stones, i prefer jewels.
Better check on Dargail
"

The elven girl slowly stands up, then walks to her fallen companion.
"Anyone here knows something of first aid"?

I'd love too but I'm kinda well....mostly dead. Hehe I'm bad today.

I had thought of that, but it's 9:00 AM in Italy, i just woke up

YAWNNNNNNNN

Since she can do nothing for Dargail, Kalyn start examining the darkspawn bodies, seeking something valuable

Male Qunari Fighter 1

Maraas stays by the dwarf.

"We will do what we can Sten. If it is not enough, die well."

Aloris drops to Kalyn's side, eyes fixed on the corpses. "Surely these darkspawn have something of a healing nature. Would you recognize it if you saw it?" He begins digging through the bits of leather and armaments on the creature.

"I can tell a bottle from a diamond, be sure of that.If i find something resembling a potion i'll give a shout"

Then she smiles in amusement "Of course if i find a diamond i cannot promise i'll call some one else, girls love diamonds"

-The search reveals the following...a darkspawn magic staff +1 quarterstaff, 2 potions of cure light wounds, and 30 gold coins of various nations and ages, from Oralis,Tevinter,Dwarven, and Ferelden marks.

Kalyn gives the potions to Aloris "I think you were searching something like these"

Then she examines the coins "Don't worry, we'll dived them equally, i'll not hide any" then muttering by herself "but i'm veeeery tempted"

I'm an idiot, i just saw that i always forgot to include the city elf keen sense bonus to perception checks :/

Aloris snatches the two potion bottles from Kalyn and holds them toward the light. "Yes, this is exactly it."

He pops the crude stopper from one of the potions and holds it to his nose momentarily. With a shrug he steps over to Dargail, crouches at the dwarf's unconscious body and begins working the potion down his throat.

Cure Light wounds 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Dargail Bogan wrote:
"*Burp!* Still unconscious. At -1 hitpoint right now.

"Seems like you'll have to make Dargail drink the other too.Is it safe to drink too much of that smelly stuff Aloris ?"

Aloris:
The animals and fish carved into the altar, are clearly deep subterran creatures. The fish lack eyes, or even jaws. The Lizards are like immature dragons. The animals are threatening, and not 'natural'. You have never seen any of the beasts pictured, and would not be surprised if they were a species long extinct. What this means is up to you

Aloris you will receive the feat 'brew potion' as a bonus feat. All casters will receive 'brew potion' as a bonus feat at level 2. I want the party to rely on potions. See OOC thread.

Aloris furrows his brow and begins working the other potion down the dwarf's throat. He looks up at Kalyn's comment and shakes his head. "Perfectly safe. Probably." He stands after he finishes and holds the bottle towards Kalyn, spinning it slowly and letting the remaining liquid slide along the insides. "Potion brewing is a simple procedure for those with the gift. You take your herb and encourage its inborn properties when mixing it with any liquid. The Elvhen often use sweet wines, teas, and moon water." He brings the glass to his mouth and licks the rim, tasting the liquid inside. "If I were to guess, these potions were made with animal blood."

He tosses the empty bottle to Kalyn and steps past her, towards the altar. "Your concerns should fall here." Aloris places a dirty hand on the images, running his fingers along the edges of the creatures and speaks with deep concern. "Darkspawn are impossible to understand, because their minds don't work as ours do. These images frighten me." He looks back to the group. "They are beasts of Inalas... the deep earth. Look at them; they lack eyes to see the sunlight. I fear that they are abominations like the darkspawn." He sighs, and looks again at the images. "I don't know if these are drawings of imagination or of the Great Beyond, but I've never known of such things to exist. Seeing them on some crude altar makes me nervous."

Cure light wounds (potion) 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Male Dwarf Templar lvl 1

Dargail's eyes open suddenly and sits up looking around. "Wha...Way....Where? Ah sodding ancestors! I went an got canned by em blighted darkspawn. Ah well at least I took of em wit me. Help me up." Once to his feat Dargail will inspect his wounds. "Still got some damage. Only hope der be no taint er its warden huntin fer me next task." Dargail looks around at the carnage. He then looks at Maraas and holds up two fingers. "Two. An one of em was a boss. Though I think it be only fair I knock da score down by one seein as how day one uped me. Oh well. Gotta work on ma swing a bit. Didn't fight to many darkspawn in ma life. Gotta get used to da feel of it so I don't go down so easy." He looks at the elves. "So what do we have? Know anythin about dis place?"

Kalyn puts the bottles in her backpack while Aloris holds a lesson of some sort of history or religion. She tries to listen to him, but gets bored very quickly, and goes back to collect the loot.
When Dargail awakes the girl  greets him excited.
"Welcome back among the living Dargail, this is the most wonderful thing i've been a part of in all my life. And look at the money and the rest of the spoils"

Feel free to roll a religion check on that altar templar guy, in addition remember you have detect magic as an at will ability in addition to detect evil.
There is a slight 'hum' in your ears, which is distracting but not painful. As if you were standing near a powerful electro-magnetic field

You would have heard everything Aloris said, since he said it after you awoke (technically).

Male Qunari Fighter 1

Maraas nods happily to see the dwarf awake.

[b]"You did well Sten. A bit over zealous maybe. Ha!"[/]b

Maraas give a puntuated laugh. Though it seems the laugh is merely a formality to inform his audience that he was joking.

Male Dwarf Templar lvl 1

Dargail approaches the alter examining it for any signs of evil. Interesting construction. Wonder what they were using it for? Hope this thing isn't an attempt to start another blight.....so soon after the recent one we've had. That would be bad." <--Understatement

Aloris shakes his head at Dargail. "These were simple creatures. I doubt they have the ability to begin a blight."

-The altar whispers words to your mind Blood must be shed. You have a sudden, primal urge to kill. It makes all of you rather nervous.

Dargail:
The altar radiates a mild aura of evil. You notice a strange, spiral like grooved design on the surface of the altar. It would be possible to pour some blood upon the altar. This would also be quite a terrible idea even if you were not a templar.

Male Dwarf Templar lvl 1

Dargail is alarmed by this sudden urge and puts his arms out indicating that others should back away. "Back! This.....Thing whatever it is, is no good and seems to be tugging at our urge to kill. I say if we can't move on in these caves, we should clear out." He looks down the tunnel for any indication as to how much further it goes.

Wish I could destroy the alter but that's a job for a hammer which I have none. Maraas maybe?

Kalyn shakes for a moment, walking backward until she hits a wall of the cave. She seems to awake from some kind of daze.

"Listen guys,i finished gathering the loot and i want to spend the money as long as i'm alive. Why don't we just run the hell out of here"?

Aloris nods at the idea, and begins making his way out of the cavern.

Male Qunari Fighter 1

Maraas has a big sword. Also, he doesn't go for religion so much, but he fears it a bit. I do not think he'd touch the alter.

Kalyn too makes a haste toward the cave exit

You emerge into the light, shaken by the ordeal. The forest is strangely quiet around you, but nothing else is out of the ordinary.
I'm rolling will saves for all of you
Maaras 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Aloris 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Kalyn 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Dargail 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 SR 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Everyone but Aloris

thoughts:
You feel shaken to your core, as if you stared into the depths of hell, and hell stared back. You realize you have been a failure to your race, your parents, your community, your gods, and anything else that ever meant anything to you ever. You feel REALLY depressed, and don't know why.

It seems you have seen enough death for one day...What does the party decide to do?

Male Qunari Fighter 1

Maraas has felt these emotions before, but he survives as Tal'Voshoth. He'll be alright.

You must fight this depression Maraas. You make your own way. Never go back!

"I say we go get a reward for that."

Male Dwarf Templar lvl 1

Dargail sits there all depressed like. "Whats the use? Its not like getting paid will make my failure to the Maker go away. I let myself be defeated in there an now look at me. Imma dwarf in the Templars. I'm a joke that isn't meant ta be here. Woe is me!"

-Hi people
As people have mentioned there are far, far more people interested in playing in a pbp than running. Having been rejected for the last three I've applied to, I decided to try my hand at running a Pbp.
-I'm already DM'ing a game set in Irrisen and so fancy a break from the pathfinder world...
...and have decided about Ferelden from the Dragon Age Series of Games.
Obviously there will be many many changes to the core rules and character creation. I'm waiting to hear who is interested before I type too many details. The events will take place 1 year after the last blight, and Alistair is King. Obviously there will be many constraints, and so we will be using the Core rule book ONLY. That's right no APG, no UM, no UC. The focus is on role-playing, and I'm looking for a party of 4 to 5 who would be able to post often, at least once daily.
...No you can't all be Qunari. But I think one is ok...

Races:Humans, Daelish Elf, City Elf, Dwarf, Qunari,
Classes: Barbarian, Bard, Druid, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerrer, Wizard
Notice no cleric or monks
Certain classes are restricted by race
Druid and Rangers must be Daelish Elves
Dwarves can not be Bards, Sorcerrers, or Wizards
Qunari must be fighters or Barbarians

-So I'll see who is interested and write up a player's guide.

Let me take it right:
you mean using pathfinder rulesystem in ferelden setting?
I'm very interested if that is the case. I love DA setting, but don't have the books from Green Ronin.
I tend toward female elf rogue or wizard usually.
Will there be changes in race stats?
Will Qunari be a homebrew race?

Gandal wrote:

Yep. I'm writing a players guide...It's about 4 or 5 pages. I ahouls have it finished by the end of the night here.

I'll stay tuned then :)

Scarab Sages

I am very interested, though I must warn you, the times I post might differ from the norm, since I live in Germany.

Do you plan to have both sorcerers and wizards come from the cirle or would that be sorcerers = witches like morrigan and wizards = circle mages? I ask because I would like to play a cirle mage.

Well, there is a friend of mine interested too, but he cannot post right now.Anyway he asks if there'll be a reserved slot if possible.
We are both from Italy if that is important for time zone/posting rate.
If the whole things starts and we are all accepted i'll probably go with a female city elf rogue then...unless healing is reserved to mages as for the settings or we assume we are still in need of a cleric for that, since the PFRPG rules are used.

Edited:didn't notice the "no cleric" statement so my question is futile

Dotting... interested in how you'll make this work

Also curious. Staying peripherally tuned!

Very interested to see how this turns out.

I have never played in a Pbp but I would be very interested in playing in this one. I would be interested in playing a Dalish Elf Bard or Druid. I look forward to seeing your player's guide.

-Nathron

I really want to try this campaign. I love DA I played Origins through 10 and 11 times. I would love to try this.

Ok guys. Net was down in China again.
Here it is. I've spoilered each section to make it easier on the eyes.

race:

1.Races

1.1Dwarfs- Dwarfs function as in the rules except…
Hatred: Dwarves receive a +1 bonus on attack rolls against humanoid creatures of the Darkspawn subtypes due to special training against these hated foes.

1.2City Elves- City Elves have the following statistics
+2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma, –2 Constitution: City elves are graceful and personable, but fragile.
Low-Light Vision: City-elves can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.
Adaptability: City-elves receive Skill Focus as a bonus feat at 1st level.
Elven Immunities: City-elves are immune to magic sleep effects and get a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.
Keen Senses: City-elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception skill checks.
Multitalented: City-elves choose two favored classes at first level and gain +1 hit point or +1 skill point whenever they take a level in either one of those classes.
1.3 Daelish Elves-Daelish elves have the same statistics as elves except
Nature’s lore-Daelish elves have +2 on Handle Animal and +2 Survival Skill checks. This replaces the Elven Magic ability.
1.4 Humans-Humans in Ferelden have the same statistics as Humans.
1.5 Qunari-Qunari have the following statistics
+2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma, The Qunari are strong and tough but intractable and silent.
Darkvision: Qunari have darkvision 60 feet
Intimidating: Qunari receive a +4 racial bonus on Intimidate skill checks due to their size and strength.
Qun Meditation: Qunari receive a +1 bonus on will save due to their practice of meditation

class:

2. Classes
2.1 Barbarian There are many barbaric and simply crazy fighters. They come from all walks of life, dwarf, human, even some Qunari will work themselves into an icy rage in combat. The barbarian class is unchanged from the rules.
2.2 Bard Musician, tinker, soldier, lover, spy, bards are as varied as their abilities. Bardic abilities, including spells, are powered from within, and can be learned. Thus they are not hunted by the chantry as apostates. That said, the truly superstitious don’t always know the difference. The bard class is unchanged from the rules.
2.3 Cleric- The cleric of ferelden casts no spells. It is a career path unsuited for an adventurer.
2.4 Druid-The druid or Keeper is a Daelish spell caster of strange, nature based powers. Only Daelish know the secrets of the land necessary to become a Keeper. Druids must choose a domain. They can not chose an animal companion.
2.5 Fighter-The fighter is a professional with his weapon. This class is unchanged from the rules.
2.6 Paladin-The Paladin is known as the Templar in Ferelden. They seek out evil, demons, undead and apostates. The Paladin class has been changed as follows. Paladins must be humans, or city-elves.
Paladins may use the ability detect magic at will. This is addition to detect evil
Divine Shield- A paladin who uses a shield may add it to their touch AC.
Alignment-A paladin must be lawful good, or lawful neutral. He loses all abilities of he willingly commits an evil or chaotic act. He must atone as per the spell atonement
2.7 Ranger-The Ranger is a Daelish hunter and scout. He knows the forest well, and is unmatched in both archery and knowledge of nature. A ranger must use the animal companion nature bond. A ranger can not select elves as a favorite enemy.
2.8 Rogue-The master thief, the knife fighter, the second story man, the con. All these and more are Rogues. Rogues come from any race and place, using the right skill or the right word as much as a well timed dagger thrust. The rogue class is unchanged from the rules.
2.9 Sorcerer-The sorcerer, or apostate is a rogue mage, one who practices without the approval of the chantry, outside the circle of magi. Some may be Daelish or city elves with a natural gift, others are humans who have become stronger than the demons that tempt them. Human Sorcerers may choose from the following bloodlines “Aberrant, Abyssal, Arcane, Destined,” Daelish Sorcerrs may chosse from the following bloodlines “Elemental, Fey, Undead” City Elf sorcerers may choose from either the human or Daelish options. Dwarfs can not cast arcane spells. Qunari Sorcerers are unsuitable for player characters, being basically chained up.
3.0 Wizard-The wizard, or circle mage is a mage who has passed his harrowing and lives in a magic circle. That said many circle mages are sent out to do research or otherwise aid their circle. The most famous circle of mages in Ferelden is the tower of mages in Lake Calenhad. Wizards do not get a familiar. They must use a bonded object. Wizards are always Humans or city elves. Dwarfs can not cast arcane spells. Daelish do not wish to be placed under the rule of human arch magi.

background traits:

4.1 Dwarf Background
Dwarf Noble-You are descended from a noble house, and trained in combat. You may choose either weapon focus (great-ax) or weapon focus (dwarven war-ax) as a bonus feat.
Brand-You were born casteless. You may choose either weapon finesse or stealthy as a bonus feat. Dwarf nobles will react negatively to you.
No soul-You are difficult to hurt with magic. You gain DR1/ v spells that deal damage.
4.2 City elf background
Magical-You have magical aptitude. You gain Spell focus as a bonus feat
Survivor-You have led a hard life like most elves. You gain +1 to fortitude saves.
4.3 Daelish Elf background
Archer-You are descended from a great elf archer. You receive a masterwork composite longbow+1STR as a family heirloom.
Healer-You are a healer. You receive +4 bonus to heal checks. Add +1 to your level for the purpose of casting cure spells.
4.4 Human background
Chantry raised- You were an orphan, raised in the chantry. You gain knowledge (religion) and diplomacy as class skills. You get a +2 on all knowledge checks.
Guard-You’ve served as a city guard. You get a +2 to intimidate and sense motive checks. You receive improved unarm strike as a bonus feat
Apostate-You were raised with Apostates, or you are yourself, an Apostate. You receive +2 to bluff checks, and it is a class skill for you. You receive +2 to knowledge arcanna checks. It is also always a skill for you.
4.5 Qunari
Follower of the Qun-Even among Qunari you have a focused mind. You receive +1 to will saves. This stacks with the Qunari +1 to will saves.
Mage Hater-Once per combat you can declare an enemy mage ‘Vashedan’. This functions as a ranger’s favorite enemy ability (+2 to hit and +2 to damage rolls). You may not attack another target until this ‘Vashedan’ has been killed.
Mighty Blow-You favor the massive blades and strong blows of the Qunari. Once per combat you can make a single attack roll against an opponent. If it hits you may add 200% of your strength to the damage roll, rather than the normal 150%. This does not stack with power attack. You must be using a 2 handed weapon to use this ability.

My goal is to create the 'style and feel' of Dragon Age without modeling the mechanics. That's why Paladins have an in game reason to favor sword and shield, as the Templar are usually sword and board fighters.

Scarab Sages

I'd love to play a Dragon Age PbP campaign, especially roleplaying focused.
That said, I think I'd like to try a Human Circle Wizard, street child, welcomed his discovery as a chance to escape that life.

This looks and sounds amazing. I think I have a character already planned, a Daelish Elf, Bard. Who focuses on keeping the Daelish knowledge, spreading the stories of the Daelish and a little bit of combat.

Grand Lodge

Aw, and here I wanted to play a Dragon Age 2 style Magus... :p Oh well.

Would the campaign be taking place mostly in cities or the wilderness, or maybe a equal split between the two?

What is the Point Buy?

I am very interested in a Dalish Druid.

If the campaign is mainly based in urban areas, then a City Elf Rogue who used his wit and charm to escape the alienage.

-Nathron

Yes what the points buy? 2 traits? Is this recruit first come first serve?
I still think of a female city elf rogue. Will have a concept soon

Sczarni

I'd like to throw my name in the hat for a Qunari fighter type. I'm thinking I'd like to be Tar'Voshoth. (sp?) A Qunari that has moved away from the Qun and is now working for himself. That way I won't be forced to fight my party if they go against the Arashok.

Let me know what you think! 8)

I'm thinking about a mage of the Circle...

I want to make a dwarf paladin. I know you said human only but would you be willing to accept it if the story fits? I have yet to read a reason why Dwarves can't be Templars. If one believes in the Maker and Andraste, they should have the option shouldn't they? Or is their some physical reason I don't know about as to why they can't.

Templars are fed lyrium at some point in the Templar training. It seems this would affect dwarfs QUITE differently. Enough that I'd say no dwarf Templars of Paladin Class. That said there are archer/and rogue class Templars. I don't object to a dwarf being a Chantry enforcer, simply I object to them having spells. In other words, just write up a dwarf fighter, and give him the human chantry background trait.

For whatever might be worth, Shanosuke is an excellent addition to your campaign ^^

I would love to play this but I dont have the time I had to let go of almost all the games I play except 1.

I'm picking the players based on die rolls. Seems fair enough.
Yep. Seriously. I'm going to plug everybody's names in and roll d100. I'll pick the 5 highest numbers.

Okay, I am going to submit Dargail Bogan to the campaign. While I know that Templars don't use magic, I wont argue the issue so I'm simply going to make him a fighter as that seems to best suit him.
Now for the story I poured my heart and soul into. I love Dragon Age.

Dargail Bogan, the life story:

Dargail Bogan is a dwarf of the noble class in Orzammar. His family was descended from a paragon and his Father Hunguff Bogan had a seat in the Assembly and was a well respected member of the courts. Dargail was the youngest of four sons and two daughters. He was his mothers favorite but was not expected to inherit much of his father’s legacy. Dargail did not care and spent much of his life training in the combat arts. Dargail proved to be highly perceptive and was quickly able to discern lies and notice things that many others would over look. He had a profound gift of wisdom that his brothers and sisters seemed to be missing.

It wasn’t long before his father took notice of Dargail’s unusual gift. He gave Dargail the responsibility of working as an inspector for the Proving. Dargail proved adept at this and was able to spot and catch cheaters frequently. This led to Dargail being raised to chief Proving Inspector. Few cheaters made it past Dargail Bogan’s watchful eye.

Dargail proved to be a decent fighter also. The Carta had sent several assassins to try and take Dargail’s life. He was usually able to see them coming and would often develop tactics for dealing with them without having to fight them directly but that wasn’t always possible. Dargail often found himself alone and in a situation where he’d have to fight his way out. We eventually started competing in the Proving itself. Again he had to fend off assassination attempts even in the Proving.

As years passed, Dargail came to realize that dwarves are a rather dishonest bunch and he wanted to eliminate corruption from the courts. This didn’t sit well with the courts either and eventually Dargail was seen as overstepping his boundaries. Eventually his father began to threaten to disown him when, Dargail tried to expose a friend of the family as a fraud. Dargail noticed the one thing he had overlooked his whole life, his own father was just as corrupt as his friend.

Eventually Dargail resigned from the Proving inspector position and began a life career as a common watchman. He spent some time praying to the ancestors as to what his purpose was. He could see corruption everywhere in Orzammar but there was nothing he could do to stop it. He then began to fumble around the idea of heading to the surface and find a prestigious role up there. He spent time studying the lore of the above lands and even reading foreign books on the Chantry and the Maker. Some how, these ideas made more sense to him than the Ancestor Worship of his own people. He soon entertained thoughts of seeking out a chantry to learn more.

When his father found out about Dargail’s plans, he was furious. He called Dargail a traitor to the family name and a wannabe surface dwarf. Things were not comfortable after that. His father gave Dargail the cold shoulder all the time and would not speak with him.

One day and apostate showed up seeking refuge from the chantry. He bribed Hunguff to live at the Bogan estate for a time. During that time, Dargail learned that this apostate was a blood mage. In the chantry books that he had read, Blood mages were evil being that resorted to using blood for power and would often commune with demons and sacrifice other people to gain their power. Templars hunted blood mages down and killed them or made them tranquil in order to keep the common folk safe. Blood mages had immense powers of mind control they used to enslave victims or enemies. They were no better than darkspawn and just about any apostate could be a blood mage.

Dargail confronted the mage and got him to confess his sin. The mage took a defensive response when Dargail threatened to turn him in. First the mage sacrificed one of Dargail’s sisters to allow him to take control of his father and brothers minds. Soon Dargail found himself battling for his life against his own family. Dargail proved resilient to the blood mages powers and managed to best his father in combat. His brothers proved to be more of a challenge. His remaining sisters and his mother came to his aid. They fought their way through the family and Dargail finally found an open path to the mage. He swung his axe and felled the man in one clean stroke. When Dargail turned to survey the battlefield, he was shocked to find that none of his family had survived the grisly encounter. His axe was now stained with the blood of not only the mage, but also that of his own family. He took his fathers Waraxe and fled Orzammar, praying to the maker that he would find some other destiny out on the surface.

Dargail managed to escape to the surface before the incident was discovered. The first thing he did was seek out a chantry. After a good deal of hiking, He found Red Cliff. There he appealed to the chantry telling of his encounter with a blood mage and telling of how he had lost his whole family to the monster. The Chantry mother wasn’t sure what to do with the dwarf at first but she accepted him for the time being.

Dargail worked as a porter for a time and continued to study under the tutelage of the mother. One day when he was out in town running errands he spotted another possible apostate. Dargail studied the man for about an hour, watching his movements and saw all the signs he was looking for. Definitely an apostate, of this Dargail was sure. Dargail immediately, out of line, approached the man and confronted him with his findings. Almost immediately the man turned hostile. Dargail was surprised to see the man resort to blood magic to attempt to fight him off. Dargail somehow resisted the spells power and managed to tackle the man. The commotion drew the guards and they, and a templar that was with them, witnessed Dargail’s defeat at the hands of the mage. Instantly, before the mage could finish his kill, the templar moved in, drew his sword, and cut the mage down where he stood.

Dargail had survived but his resiliency was noted by the templar and shared with the mother. Soon, Dargail was accepted for templar training. It is not a common occurance for a dwarf to be accepted as a templar but his skills were too valuable to pass up and he was put right into training. He couldn't adopt the use of Lyrium but his martial skills and his ability to find apostates set him up for the most success. Dargail proved adept at the craft and was devoted to his new calling. Every night before bed he would say a prayer to the maker, everyday, thanking him for showing him his new path.

Once his training was completed, Dargail was to be a mage hunter. He would accompany other templars out into Ferelden to find any illegal mages. Dargail fit in nicely with his new “family”. His abilities to root out corruption and to find apostates proved invaluable to the chantry. He had also felt free to laugh and sing again. He joked and would go out with the other templars on their time off. He had finally felt at peace. After some time though, he bagan to wonder, “what next.” Every night, he prayed a new prayer to the maker. “I am here now. What is the next step?” Dargail would keep his eyes open for any sign of a new calling.

A fighter. I need to do some research but I will roll with this for now. I was simply going off the premise that I was able to make a dwarf Templar in the video game is all but fighter will work out just fine.

Obviously my main trait is going to be dwarf noble.

OK...so everybody who is interested could they submit a character and slat block and a few paragraphs of background flavor/story.

Shanosuke...just design your character as a Paladin...it would fit the mechanics much better. That being said...I hope you don't mind people being SHOCKED to see a Dwarf Templar. I'm thinking you're going to be pretty much the only one in existence. Nice back story.

Character creation:
1 racial background trait
15 point-point buy
100 GP starting gold

Note:
Cure light wounds is both a 1st-level Arcane and 1st level Divine Spell. All Arcane casters can cast it. Bard, Wizards, and Sorcerer

Cure moderate wounds is a 2nd level spell for druids, not a 3rd level spell

Note For Rangers
Most common enemies will be undead/demons/animals/darkspawn/humanoid(humans)/vermin
rarer types would include
golems/dragons/plants

I work 18 hours a week, and I'm single. Time is one thing I have very very much of...that said I do have some internet problems...so I may have to ask a poster to occasionally email me what's happened and he/she can post for me.

I find myself leaning heavily towards Daelish Elf

I'll leave this pretty impressive breakdown of "Elvish" here for anyone who might be as impressed by it as I am.

Edit: DM could I perchance build a Daelish Elf Battle Oracle with the Tongues curse, Who spoke in the ancient language in times of stress?

Further Edit: Noted.

A few lines of background :

Kalyn Terbeth:
was a city scoundrel, a life very common for an elven girl in Denerim, at least one who doesn't accept a life in submission to humans.Obviously she went in and out of city jails, but she was inside when the army departed for Ostagar, and she was taken along with other like her to "keep up soldier's moral".Something she would have never accepted.During the battle she took her opportunity and fled, turning to a life of banditry with other fugitive.
But that doesn't satisfy her too, she soon realized that cutting a purse from time to time is one thing, assaulting and killing poor farmer who already lost everything to the blight way another thing, plus if she caught during such acts, she knows there won't be simple jail anymore.

rogue style:
Kalyn is going for TWF plus pickpocket and social skills.Survival trait

stat block:
strength 10 dexterity 16 constitution 10 intelligence 13 wisdom 10 charisma 16

I could have the full sheet ready in a day or so, but i'ld prefer to know if i'll get to play or no before i do all that work

No oracles. No samurai. Only the classes mentioned. No monks either. If you have to ask, don't.

Thanks for that. I mentioned in the story that is was untraditional to accept dwarves so SHOCK is expected.....and amusing.

I'm get Dargail's stateblock up soon. Did have one more question though. I'd like to take the alternate racial trait for dwarves called "Magic Resistant." It replaces the "Hardy" by giving me a spell resistance 5 + my level. If not then I'll manage. Up to you almighty GM.

So in terms of characters who have confirmed interest we have

Shanosuke-Dargail Dwarf Templar (Keep the SR/ it's good for a templar
Gandal-City Elf Thief/Rogue/showing I learned the game from my dad
that's three. I'll just keep the 3 of you. Consider yourself in the game.

Could you email me a state-block at [njchiasson@gmail.com]

EVERYBODY ELSE
We have room for two more...I'd suggest a caster(druid, circle mage, or sorcerer) I need to see some crunch and back story before I will consider your application complete.

Please read
Game Introduction

That friend of mine is still asking if he can join, i said him we have 2 more player slots and he would like to play a dalish druid.
His problem is he isn't very good at english and should have to use an online translator ,like google's

Scarab Sages

I', out. Since I can't complete a character for at least two day due to time constraints and everything seems to get together fine, it would be unfair to the "contestors". Maybe next time :(

Don't count yourself out...we've still got 2 slots to roll for. I'm doing this as fair as possible, it's just that 3 people are already in...with all the details and I'm a maniac for things being on time. I like train, what can I say. So feel free to think about it for a day or two.

As for your friend, Gandal, He's just got to follow the same guidelines as everybody else. I don't care if his first language is Martian, as long as he comes up with a good back story. I'll roll for him along with who ever else come in.

Applications will close, at Sunday 16:00 ZULU/GMT

Thanks for this. I wll send you Dargails statblock later today when I have a moment to Email.

Sczarni

Thanks! I'll have the stat block to you soon!

Pathfinder Rulebook Subscriber

I unfortunately need to withdraw. I don't have time to put a character together in the next few days, and I'm beginning to question my ability to fit another game in anyway.

Have fun, everybody!

I apologize for my request, but i asked in one of my first post if my friend could have a slot.Anyway i never intended to let him pass over the others

Gandal wrote:

So we have a

Paladin, Fighter, and Rogue
A mage or druid would be nice

Here is my character. I hope it is up to standards. I haven't made many Pathfinder characters so let me know if I missed something or it needs correction.

I didn't know what to put for my age, Elves in DA age differently then a core rulebook elf.
