Rules for Wilderness Travel:

In a given day the group can travel 12 miles.

12 hours each day you will need some protection from the heat.

Armor has 24 hours per level of protection you can divvy up per hour.

Every day:
DC 18 Survival to avoid getting lost
or
DC 12 Survival to follow tracks.

Avoiding getting lost is harder, but you can move further. Following tracks you can move 3/4 the days speed, but is easier. Only 1 person can be on point for this, with assists being allowed. If you fail either of these checks you only make 1/2 process.

Because you have Dr. Solstarni’s notes and the files from Ailabiens 21:2 you have a +2 on these Survival checks.

Weather:
You can use suit’s protection, air bubble, or can make a Fortitude save each hour (DC 15 + 1 per previous check) or take 1d4 nonlethal fire damage. Heavy armor gives a -4 penalty on this. You can roll a Survival at the beginning of the day to provide a bonus to this.

If you take heat damage you suffer heatstroke, (Fatigued condition). These penalties go away when you are healed of the damage.

Sunrise Maiden stats:

Speed 10
Maneuverability good (turn 1)
AC: 13, TL: 13
HP: 55, DT: - CT: 11
Shields: Light 60 (forward 15, Port 15, Starboard 15, Aft 15)

Attack (Port) Light laser Cannon (2d4) (Range Short 5 hexes)
Attack Starboard) Light laser Cannon (2d4) (Range Short 5 hexes)
Attack (Aft) Flack Thrower (3d4) (Range Short 5 hexes, Point (+8)
Attack (Turret) Light Partical Bean (3d6) (Range Medium 10 hexes)

Modifiers +1 to any 2 checks per round, +2 Computers, +1 Piloting

Power Core: Pulse Green (150 PCU); Drift Engine: Signal Basic; Systems: Basic mid-range sensors, crew quarters (good), extra light weapon mount (aft) mk 3 armor, mk3 defenses, mk 1 duonode computer (tier 1, artificial personality upgrade); Expansion Bays: cargo hold(2), escape pods, recreation suite (HAC/Gym)

Complement 1-6

Crew Stations:
Captain: Zam
Engineer: Yon
Gunner 1: Tylur
Gunner 2: Clara (temporary)
Pilot: Sybil
Science Officer: DeeV8

-2 penalty for each range increment after the first. All weapons can be fired up to 10 range increments away.

Weapon Point attribute: A weapon with this special property is always short range and can’t be fired against targets that are outside the first range increment. If a tracking weapon would hit a ship in an arc that contains a weapon with the point special property, the gunner of the targeted starships can attempt an immediate gunnery check with the point weapon against the incoming tracking projectile using the bonus listed in parentheses in the weapon’s Special entry (instead of her usual bonus to gunnery checks). The DC for this gunnery check is equal to 10 + the tracking weapon’s speed. If the attack hits, the tracking weapon is destroyed before it can damage the ship. A point weapon can be used to attempt only one such free gunnery check each round, but this usage potentially allows a point weapon to be fired twice in a single round.

Hello all. I have been testing the waters with DMing a game here, and it's going well. So I wanted to start up another game. I have been very excited about the Starfinder system and the AP does seem very fun. I am looking for 4-6 players to join up and do this AP. It's a pretty long commitment, but I am hoping we find a good group to really keep it going.

About myself: I have been playing (mostly DMing) table top for only about 2 years. I might be a bit fresh behind the ears, but I feel like I am decently competent when it comes to rules. I do lack some of the role play skills that I have seen around on the PbP games. So I am looking to get better at that. Allowing the time for each post allows me to focus more on each post. I am running this AP with some of my young cousins and family. It is going well, but it is not very RP heavy with them, so I am looking to dive in a bit deeper and allow the characters to grow in this game.

Stats:
Races - Core, Legacy are 100% ok. Most races from Alien Arcive should be fine, but I have the right to veto some of the stranger ones.
Classes and Archetypes - Core only. Seeing as there is no 1st party other classes, yet. (if the game goes on long enough for more books with new classes and we have a death we can revisit this)
Themes - I prefer the main themes, but Themeless is fine too, just have a reason for it.
Alignment - No evil, please. Generally want everyone to want to help out, do good. Even if somewhat selfishly.
Posting frequency - I will likely post more than once a day, but I would like to require at least 1 post a day from people. I know this can be a lot, and everyone does not need to be perfect. I just want to keep the flow going. If you ever need to go afk for more than 2-3 days just let us know.

All standard Point buy, starting credits, etc are standard from the Core book. I will be double checking all builds to make sure nothing is missing.

Please include a background for your character. This includes:
1. A short 1-3 paragraph backstory
2. Planet you are from (90% likely a pact world, but if you have a good idea for something else, let me know)
3. A diety, or a reason to not believe. I feel having a Diety you follow really enhances the game. Feel free to use any of the Core Rulebook dieties. I will also allow "most" of the Pathfinder gods, as long as they are not officailly missing or something.
4. Reason for wanting to join the Starfinder society.

Everyone should be new to Absolom station, the AP starts out with you arriving there to join the society. So having a background elsewhere, with little or no experience in the Absolom station is prefered.

I will be using Roll20 for maps and combat. So please be ok with this. I understand if you can't always access it, but it becomes hard when everyone can't use it.

I will be keeping this open till next Friday, January 12th. I might extend it if needed, but my guess is we will fill up pretty fast.

If you have any questions please let me know! Looking forward to what people make.

Dotting. I'm thinking a Solarion that grew up on the Burning Archipelago and is a worshiper of Sarenrae.

Dataphiles

I created this character for another Dead Suns game and wasn't selected. I'd love for the chance to explore this AP. Raia is a Lashunta Ace Pilot Operative Ghost

The previous game wanted the characters on the Starfinder character sheet which I have linked below. Is that good, or would you prefer it in the profile?

Character Sheet

... I really need to find a good profile pic for her

Raia Ellosar wrote:

I would prefer it detailed out in the profile, with quick access to things in the Class/Level area. If you want to avoid redoing everything I can use the Character sheet now, and if you are picked you can migrate to the profile. That sound ok?

I am going to verify submissions in Hero Lab (web beta), just to double check stuff.

Dotting in for later application.

I normally use herolab so need to work out best way to make a character.

Dot.

Absolutely in. Either an operative or an envoy.

When is the deadline.

SalaciousCrumb wrote:

Dotting, will be submitting an Elf Mercenary Soldier who is going Melee as primary combat.

Daphne Hermstos wrote:

Same. I've become quite dependent on HeroLab automating things. If I have the time I may have a go at doing a character by hand. Probably an android exocortex mechanic. Probably.

Yeah I relied strongly on Hero Lab for Pathfinder. I do have the Hero Lab beta for Starfinder, but I try my best to do it manually. I will help out where I can, using the Hero Lab beta to correct stats.

This will be a learning experience for all.

I'm completely new to Starfinder, but I've got a cool idea for a Mystic.

This is HeftyUpTop's submission.

Per'el is a melee combatant and a former ceremonial guard in the elven capitol on Castrovel. For ship combat, he is most likely going to end up being a Gunner but can backup as Pilot if needed. Everything should be in the Profile.

Wayfinders

I would be interested in playing. I have an idea for a dwarven mystic. He's a cheerful medic who goes by the nickname "Bonesaw." Healing connection, spaceship combat is a little rough for mystics, so I went with themeless in order to pick up Engineering as a class skill. He should be pretty useful outside of that though.

I have everything down on a character sheet, and I will transfer it over to this profile this weekend.

Stuck between human scoundrel or ysoki mechanic

Dataphiles

As requested, I added the information to the profile.

Dotting for interest.

@DM Nex - small caveat ahead of completing a submission... I'm running Dead Suns as a pbp here on the boards, so understand if you'd rather have PCs with "fresh eyes" so-to-speak. However am keen to play Starfinder - hence the interest.

Cheers

BD

I do like the idea of "fresh eyes", but we are all learning. You should totally still submit a character, though!

Finished Characters
Per'el - Elf Soldier (HeftyUpTop)
Raia Ellosar - Lashunta Operative (Slayde77)

Character Ideas
Solarian (BeastMasterFTW)
Operative/Envoy (Digger)
Android mechanic (Ouachitonian)
Mystic (Lazyclownfish)
Dwarven Mystic (Boris "Bonesaw" Mulligan)
human scoundrel/ysoki mechanic (SalaciousCrumb)

Dark Archive

Dot, this is Verik(you know... VERIK!)

putting in interest for this game.

Since you are allowing alien archive I'm gonna have a look and try to figure out what I want, but most likely I'll be a tecnomancer or an operative.

Although I do like the mechanic quite a but ^-^ so just hold off until I decide on something.

Ah! I know, Space drow.

I'll be a space Drow Mechanic

Dotting for this. I'd love to give Starfinder a try.

I'm thinking probably a technomancer. Not sure what race yet though.

Dark Archive

Hey again, this is William(Verik) with the alias for my Drow Mechanic, aiming to be an ace pilot.

He's a nomad, sick of the life as a weapon smuggler. He wants more and wants to hone his skills, so he's joining the society for the thrill of adventure.

I guess if you're keeping a list, my character will be a human outlaw empath mystic.

Still digging into the setting to build a backstory.

Lazyclownfish wrote:

Mostly keeping a list to help myself keep track of the various entries. Not going to stick to it 100% till people submit their final picks.

It also helps people see what other classes are popular/lacking.

Per'el - Elf Soldier (HeftyUpTop)
Raia Ellosar - Lashunta Operative (Slayde77)

Dark Archive

I would say I'm finished, I still have my background to write out and beg the Paizo gods not to eat when I'm finished.

Wayfinders

I changed my concept to a Dwarf Mechanic with a combat drone. I see that there is another mechanic already; but Drone and Exocortex mechanics play a bit different. The stats and background are posted up in the profile now.

Decided to go with Benderr, a sarcastic male Ysoki outlaw mechanic who tends to overindulge himself in what interests him. His drone, "Mister Fingers" is a stealth drone equipped with riding saddle.

I'm still tinkering with this pc as it is my first Starfinder creation. Obviously, I have come to rely upon HeroLab way too much.

Any advice/help or critique would be much appreciated here.

Dark Archive

Yeah, Exocortex turns the mechanic into a Mech-warrior eventually, where the drone means you have the Mech follow you around.

Of course, having the drone means you basically play two characters and acts alot like a Summoner. However Drone Mechanics have more variety and can choose to go stealthy or agressive with the drone and go opposite with their real Character. where Exocortex always is good at fighting(although only if specifying a target) then can choose to boost a skill, themselves, or become an excellent hacker.

You might want to at least *consider* picking up longarms or sniper rifles. If you do, it makes sense to get it at level 1 so that you can pick up Versatile Specialization at level 3. At higher levels it ends up being roughly a 50% increase in your character's damage.

The other thing to consider is that your drone's reactive camoflage will probably be negated by you while you are riding it. On the other hand, I think the climbing claws synergize pretty well with the riding saddle.

Will be submitting Nyesh - a female Kasathas Envoy [Bounty Hunter theme]

Building her as we speak, should have something up this evening :)

Thanks. I think that Boris is awesome. With so many mechanics, I should have probably submitted the human scoundrel I was working on. I created Benderr to be a really fun pc to rp. I would love to play with Boris in a campaign! Very cool.

So, you think that I should drop Improved Init and pick up Long arm prof? I was consider doing something besides the standard Improve Init.(which has always helped me out in the past.)

On the drone, I thought that the stealth drone came with both climbing claws and camouflage. I will have to look at it again. I thought that I would only ride it when I was not using it to spy.

Thanks for the help.

Dark Archive

If you want long arms it's better to take the Exocortex, as that automatically gives you the proficiency, as well as the specialization at lvl 3.

But you then wouldn't get your own personal Bodyguard. And even though the Exocortex technically gives you full BaB, it doesn't let you take feats at lvl 1 that require the +1 BaB

Dark Archive

I took Jet boost as my first feat, but to be honest if I'm gonna be using heavy Powered armors it's probably a bad idea :P

I should actually take a feat like Improved Init. Or something similar at least.

I decided to take barricade instead.

Mechanics are tricky to build, from what I can tell. Drone feats and mods add quite a bit of flexability, but do get things a bit messy at times.

In the game with my family, my uncle is playing one. He went the Longarm route with stealth drone. It seems to be working out. The Drone couldn't do damage right away, but was good for scouting and stuff. And no one worried if it got destroyed.

The stealth drones do come with both climbing claws and camouflage. They don't come proficient with any weapons, though. Even though they do have a weapon mount.

I only want 1 submission per person, but if any of you want to switch out what you are submitting before next Friday, you are 100% able to do so.

I am liking what I am seeing so far, Keep it up!

(Mostly) Finished Characters
Per'el - Elf Soldier (HeftyUpTop)
Raia Ellosar - Lashunta Operative (Slayde77)

Sybil Surefoot, for consideration. Just a few things to add but otherwise done.

Wayfinders

I believe all drones do start off with proficiency in either basic melee weapons or small arms. The text is buried in the entry somewhere and is pretty easy to miss.

Boris "Buzzsaw" Mulligan wrote:

The combat drone chassis starts with a weapon proficiency mod, the other two don't. That being said every drone gets another mod of the users choice, so they can start with either basic melee or small arms if they use that mod slot.

I am pretty sure that is the case because the weapon proficiency mod text:

Quote:

Your drone gains one of the following feats as a bonus feat (it must meet all the prerequisites of the chosen feat): Advanced Melee Weapon Proficiency, Basic Melee Weapon Proficiency, Heavy Weapon Proficiency, Longarm Proficiency, Small Arm Proficiency, or Special Weapon Proficiency.

You can select this mod multiple times; each time, your drone gains another of the available proficiency feats as a bonus feat.

You would have to take that mod for both basic melee and small arms. Which makes me think drones don't start out with it.

I could be wrong, though.

@DM Nex stealth drone initial mod

It does state that Stealth Drone starts with a weapon mount. I believe that it has to be small arms though. I was ready core rulebook last night and I thought that I read something about needing two mounts for a longarm.

Yes it has a weapon mount, but it is not proficient with any weapon. So while it can fire it takes a penalty on all attacks. And it does take 2 mounts to hold 2 handed weapons such as long arms.

Dark Archive

Actually, I do remember, I have a mechanic that has a drone, they begin with either small arms or basic weapons(this can't be changed no matter what, as it's the AI that's proficient not the robot using computers to do it. Like how an Eidolon has feats, but can also take the evolution to gain weapon training), then can get a mod to use larger weapons, or the other kind.

I know it's confusing, but it's in the rulebook, and if you'd like I can find the passage where it says that.

It's part of the feats your drone starts with.

Well! Learn something ever day!

Gotta update my uncle's drone then! Thanks!

Yes. Thank you both.

It does, thanks.

Last question from me: Did you have to spend creds for the augment of putting custom rig in your brain or is it a free option?

As much as I enjoy the rulebook, somethings seem vague to me.

I would say it’s free. You get to pick where it’s located before hand. Moving it after we start playing would cost,

At least that is how I read it.

DM Nex wrote:

Dark Archive

It's free unless you want to stick it in with the Datajack.

If it's just the custom Rig, there is no issue, but if you get a Datajack then you have to pay for the implant...

Still looking for players?

Here's Black Dow's submission: Nyesh; Kasatha Envoy [Bounty Hunter]

Crunch is pretty much done, got the fluff to come...

Basic Jist: She's in the midst of her Tempering (the Kasathan "walkabout") and driven by her values has left Idari to pursue a career as a Freelance Venator [Bounty Hunter].

After some piecemeal jobs on nearby Akiton, she's drawn the conclusion that forging an association with the Starfinders on Absalom Station might be a mutually beneficial arrangement...

I'll throw in an application for Tylur Trask, a Weydan-worshiping human spacefarer soldier with the hit-and-run fighting style (i.e., blaster and melee combo). Upon reaching 2nd level, I'd take the Starfinder Forerunner archetype (pg. 129 in the Core Rulebook) and forego a few combat feats to pick up the Trained for Trouble, Ready for Anything, and Field Fix class features to gain some additional skills and bonuses with untrained skills which will tie him more fully to the Starfinder society.

Redac here. Here's the crunch more or less done for Soryn Dalohea, a lashunta scholar technomancer. I'm pretty tired, so if I made a mistake there, let me know. I'll work out the fluff as soon as I have the opportunity.
