Looks like they all popped in.. I think I got 45 notifications.

Whatever happened, thanks for fixing it, Paizo people :)

Pathfinder Companion, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Yeah I GM quite a few games, and that RSS is a life saver to keep track.

Pathfinder Companion, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Maybe its been slowly failing, because my RSS app shows some posts from less than 2 days ago.

Either way it looks like it has had a problem. I know its the weekend, and hopefully it just needs a kick..

For the last 24 hours or so I have noticed none of my RSS feeds have updated for my threads.

I use this to keep track of my PbP games. Just wanted to bring this to people's attention.

Thanks!

Congrats everyone! Thanks for the opportunity :-)

I won’t over complicate it. Mostly was curious to play a small bloodrager. The bloodline choice was somewhat of a random choice. But I also have really been interested in a arcanist or wizard. Level 8 is a good level to start feeling decent with a caster.

Thanks again for doing this. Will think of something classic with a good in world reason to be there.

Assuming you tied that to the Darkland Ancestry trait, perhaps it could make sense. But, on the whole, it just doesn't seem like a good fit. The concept kind of stretches in-game credibility a bit too far for me. But that's just my two cents.

Totally fair. Back to the drawing board. Need to pull out my Nidal book. Brainstorm while at Christmas parties!

Pathfinder Companion, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Quick question. I am retooling my Bloodrager a little. I agree that the Arcane bloodline might now work great. I was curious if the Black Blood Bloodline is acceptable. It is from the Advanced Class Origins. A softcover book that came out right after Advanced Class Guide hard cover. So it is 1st party Paizo, just not one of their hard covers.

Link to Bloodline

Going to go with the same concept though. Was experimented on as a child. Injected with Black blood by someone. Now I have a small constant draw down.

Would this fit ok? Or would it fit too well to be too "on point" I know Orv is the lowest level of the Darklands. No idea what type of darkland adventure this will be.

Anyway, before I post a full alias, just wanted to check to see if it fit ok.

Pathfinder Companion, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

No worries. I will play around with it in my head. Plenty of character ideas.

Thanks for the traits. Always a good start for character building.

Pathfinder Companion, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

OOh I like those.

I know this is a interest thread, but I wanted to see if my character idea worked with one of those traits.

I was thinking a halfing Arcane Bloodrager. The idea is that I was tested on when I was a baby. Details can be filled out later, but basically I was messed with to get my bloodline power to show up. I was actually thinking my bloodline would not have been part of my normal ancestry, but actually injected/imbued/merged with something. It could easily be some arcane creature/power from the Darklands.

Would taking Darkland Ancestry for a Halfling Arcane Bloodrager to gain darkvision, make sense for that trait? It actually fits really well with the story I have for the character.

I do know this is just Interest thread, but I can't help but start thinking of fun character ideas.

Pathfinder Companion, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

I am also very interested! I have some GM experience here on the PbP boards. This includes Starfinder (Dead Suns) and Dragon’s Demand module (almost 3/4s done). My GM alias is DM Nex.

I love the breakdown for character ideas, including the ideas for the characters path/future.

I have some fun character ideas I could use, but would be willing to fill slots that are needed by the group.

reflex save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Dang, the runes got me!

My life has been pretty busy. More than I thought. After thinking about it, I think I am going to withdraw. I have enough other games I am involved in. My death makes sense to leave too.

Thank you for the chance to play. Good luck everyone!

Question though. NeoEvaX mentioned that he had an RSS feed that notified when there was a post in a game. Where do I go for instructions for that? Right now I just haunt the forums that I'm in.

Near the top of the page you should see a few orange RSS symbols. To the right of the title of the game. There are a few because one belongs to Gameplay, Discussion, and Recruitment. Its right next to the facebook button and the twitter button. Just under the very top right o the page Help button.

With that I use a program called Feeder. There is an app on iOS as well as a chrome addon. It will check the RSS every few minutes. I pay for the instant notifications.

It helps me keep on top of my games, for sure.

How are we doing HP for levels 2-3?

I should have my profile done tomorrow.

I think I will go with my original Plan. Going to go Cleric. Law and Memory domains.

I figure we could always use a healer of some kind. Happy to be that :)

After thinking about it. I think I would want to make one of these (in order of what sounds best to me)

Bard (Archaeologist)
Investigator
Cleric of some kind

Anyone have preferences? The Bard and the Cleric will have some healing, for sure.

I assume its known that we will be going into a pyramid in the Osiron desert. Right? That is info on the store page for the module.

Should we wait till the table is full before talking about classes?

Hello all,
The rules look great to me.
Takes a seat at table

I have an idea of a ifrit Shaman. I think it would fit the desert theme. I am willing to do something else too.

Hello! I would love to be included.

Answers:
1. I have been playing for 3 years now. But have GMed a game to level 20, played a full AP, and am half way through GMing another with friends.
2. I had not started till 3 years ago. Since then I have played a few other systems (Starfinder, 5e, Monster of the week, Tales from the loop)
3. I enjoy the PbP method. Both for the deeper RPing that happens, and also for the longer form strategy.
4. I have not played Risen from the Sands. I have looked at it a few times, but have not opened it to GM or play.
5. I am GMing 2 games and recruiting for another. Playing in one more (very slow game though).
6. About every day is perfect. I sometimes slow down on weekends if busy, but I am pretty good about posting at least once a day. I like to keep things flowing!
7. I like all characters. I tend to play characters with a tiny bit of impulse control. Maybe just a bit impatient, but usually just so we can get moving. Some of my favorate characters have been a bard, magus, and Arcanist. I tend to like spell casters. I have been itching to play a healer of some kind, to be honest.

Just about myself, beyond the questions. I love tabletop games, but sadly don't get to play as often as I like. GMing is great, and I don't plan on stopping, but nothing beats playing the game.

I have RSS feeds notify me of posts of my various games to my phone, so I never go very long without at least reading new posts.

I am also a big fan of organizing notes, loot sheets, etc. I am working on a simple website for my games, to help provide pictures and info, etc.

Anyway, thank you for GMing! And I hope I get picked. Good luck to everyone else too!

Wait, why are you carrying Gorum’s holy texts if you’re worshipping Torag?

Also NeoEvaX – how are you getting +4 knowledge nature on 8 int, with knowledge nature not a class skill?

I think it’ll probably be a wasted trait

1. I think I just messed up when I was typing it in! Oops. My sheet says Torag for my holy symbol, but I typed the question wrong..

2. The +4 Knowledge Nature is because of the Champaign trait Frontier Healer (from Ironfang Players Guide). I can pick Heal or Knowledge Nature as a class skill. I also get a +1 on it from the trait. So 1 (rank) + 3 (class) -1 (int) +1 Trait = 4

3. I am switching that trait out for Defensive Strategist.

Background:

Kag was born in Glimmerhold to a family of murchants. As he grew, he realized more and more of his family and neighnors where mean, manipualitive, and greedy. At a young age Kag was able to get ahold of a ratty old copy of Hammer and Tongs: The Forging of Metal and Other Good Works.

Using what he learned in the book he started working with Iron and forge. While sweating and reading through the book, he decided to craft himself a Holy Symbol of Torag. At first he thought it just a challenge of crafting, but soon learned he meant more. Inspiration comes from many places.

He did his best to hide the symbol from his family. Even though Torag was a common god to the Dwarves, they still look down on the good nature of diety. So Kag started to read more and more. He soom came to realize he wanted to dedicate his life to Torag. Before he could be found out he left the city to roam the world, learning what he could. Protect people and bring law to the lawless.

He started roaming around wilds, helping people wherever he could. Eventually making his way to Phaendar. Using the town as a home base of sorts, he would venture out for months at a time to heal and help where he could. Always ending back in Phaendar.

Questions:

1. I am carrying Gorum's holy text. How much should it weigh?
2. Are we tracking gold weight?
3. I took a trait Covert Channeler. It is worded like it comes from the Wagon's of Light which is an organization in Geb, which is a bit far from where we are set. I really like the flavor of it. I also have never really played a game that uses the holy symbol that strongly, so having the option to store it and pull it out easy would be nice. As you said, you are LN so I figured I would ask about this one. I included a reason for it in my backstory as well.

My posting times are basically whenever I am awake, which is about: 7am-12am PST. Which converts to 2pm-7am GMT or 10pm-2pm in your timezone (GMT+8). I know this not the most optimal posting time, but I do have RSS notifications on posts so I am generally pretty good about posting often. If you look at my history I am GMing 2 games, and playing in another (though that is VERY VERY slow). Playing I should be able to post from my phone a bit easier, when I am GMing I like to use my computer, so my posting times as a player should be even easier.

Like a few people have said, I am very willing to change things around to fit with the group better after everyone is picked. I will also make a profile and fill out everything so its nice and easy to get to if I get picked.

Good luck to everyone

Pathfinder Companion, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

I think people might be confused because the first few posts dont have any info about character requirements. I bet a lot of people opened the thread and didnt know what it was about and closed it.

You might want to make a more obvious recruitment thread.

Starfinder does seem to have a lower demand on the forums too. so who knows. Shrug

Sounds good! I was kinda looking for a more Knowledge/Exploration type diety. Might have to do some Greyhawk diety research to find the right one. Its mostly flavor anyway.

Thanks for running this. Fingers crossed!

There are so many crazy races out there, but I decided to go with something a bit more "normal". Here is Raso, my Human Technomancer:

PDF Link

I will make a profile if I get picked. This is just a Hero Lab Online print out. Hopefully that is ok. The picture on the PDF is the default one. I am imagining something more like a slightly older guy in a lab coat doing magic. So, Bill Nye with some weird magic abilities. Wearing his Second Skin armor, and a white lab coat over it.

Background can be changed to fit your cool world setup.

Background:

Raso grew up on New Greyhawk. Always a bit of a terminal junkie, reading every new scientific advancement that was released. It seemed obvious he would join the science wing of war. So he did.

While excited and ready to be part of the "boots on the ground" scientists that follow many of the millitary missions, he was shoved into the back rooms. Never even being able to leave the station. Put in a Lab and told to research.

His research focused on physics, but also branched off into some weapon development. Something that bothered him a bit. Small weapons where not a big deal, but these large weapons of war seemed to be heartless and had no sense of honor.

During his off time, he started to dable into the arcane. He started testing ideas on some equipment from the lab, getting it to do things it should not be able to do. He ended up stealing quite a few parts, hoping he was getting away with it. His biggest indiscretion was a nano machine generator. He took and with the plans he had concocted (a mix of blue prints and arcane symbols) he created a handful of small arcane nano bots.

Only a few of them turned out to have any functional abilities. He was able to implant a single one into his skull, right between his eyes. He had read about the 3rd eye and decided to try everything he could. Not a minute after implantation of his first bot, his company's Inventory Retention Unit showed up and took all of his equipment and findings. They also left him with no job. They left his accounts with a heafty fine. All he had left was what he had in his apartment. Which he found out later was owned by the company. He had 2 weeks to leave.

Now he is jobless and homeless, he has his small Spell Cache stored in his skull. He decided it was time to try something new. He grabbed his Lab Coat (somehow not taken from him), sold what stuff he had, and headed out. Ready to experience the universe.

How does Limited Telepathy work?

So I am running into a few situations. How does Limited Telepathy work for these:

Set the scene: Group of 10 people. 2 Shirrens, 2 Lashuntas, and 6 mixed races. All in a small circle.

1. Shirren #1 wants to talk to Shirren #2. Does anyone else hear? They can talk back and forth telepathically.

2. Shirren #1 wants to talk to Human #1. Can the Human telepathically talk back? Or do they need talk out loud?

3. Shirren #1 wants to talk to Lashuntas #1 and Human #1. Can he direct the communication to just 2 individuals? Can they both hear? (along with question 2) can they talk back? Do they hear each other? I assume if the human can communicate back it would only be to Shirren #1, Lashuntas #1 would not hear.

4. Shirren #1 wants to talk to the whole group. Can he send a message to the whole group, similar to saying something out loud that the group can hear?

The language of the ability is a bit open for interprotation.

Quote:
Shirrens can communicate telepathically with any creatures within 30 feet with whom they share a language. Conversing telepathically with multiple creatures simultaneously is just as difficult as listening to multiple people speak.

The words that trip me up are:

Communicate: Does this mean 1 way or 2 way communication?
Any: It does not say 'all' creatures. In programming any means 1 or more. So the idea of talking to 1, 2 out of 10, or all 10 would all be valid.

I get the idea of parallel communication being difficult, I am just thinking about a Shirren in a group talking. I assume a Shirren can speak out loud if needed, but much prefers using its Telepathy.
Thoughts?

Great. I am mostly new to PbP, but I have played through a full AP and many modules before, as well as DMed my own campaign up to level 15 or so (still going). I will, hopefully, be an ok addition.

Just let me know if you would like more detail or for me to flesh anything out more.

I am also ok with going for a Divine caster of sorts. I have a few Cleric ideas if @ Robert Henry wants to go the rogue route.

I am interested in joining you. Full disclosure, I have not done a play by post game yet, but I have a decent amount of experience DMing and Playing.

I have been playing around with a Magus, and I think I can make it fit into an Iron God's game. (I could be convinced to play a class that can heal if needed too). Should I post its stat block into this forum? Along with a bit of background?

I am not 100% sure of the rules of PbP games on this forum. I have the magus built up, following your rules. I can export it as a stat block if that is easiest.

Alternate racial traits
--------------------
Fey Thoughts: The Character sees the world more like a native of the First World. Select two of the following skills: Acrobatics, Bluff, CLimb, Diplomacy, Disguise, Escape Artist, Fly, Knowledge (nature), Perception, Perform, Sense Motive, Slight of Hand, Stealth, Swim, or Use Magic Device. The selected skills are always a class skill for the character. Replaces Racial Weapon Familiarity.

Shaman's Apprentice: Only the most stalwart survive the years of harsh treatment that an apprenticeship to an orc shaman entails. Half-orcs with this trait gain endurance as a bonus feat. This racial trait replaces intimidating trait.

Toothy: Some half-orcs tusks are large sand sharp, granting a bite attack. This is a primary natural attack that deals 1d4 points of piercing damage. This racial trait replaces Orc Ferocity.

Background Story:

Harg was born into a barbarian tribe somewhere in Numeria. Found to have some arcane talents at a young age, he was set up to be the local Shaman's Apprentice. He worked with her for years, but slowly she realized that his skills in magic were not the same as her's. She called him out, and the tribe banished him. Worried his "unnatural" magic will ruin the tribe.

Harg was only 12 or so at this point. He made his way to Torch. Through some grace of the city they let him stay, fed him. He worked with a local blacksmith (is there a named one in Torch?) to learn to craft weapons. He put a lot of his arcane talent into creating his first Scimitar (this will end up being his black-blade at level 2).

Since then he has been working making mundane weapons and practicing his own arcane abilities in secret. Creating his first spellbook from what he has learned.

PS: I would happily pay for PDFs if they were heavily discounted (ie 75% off) for those who can show proof of purchase, i would not expect Paizo just to jive them away!

This. I understand we are not going to get something for free, but there has to be a bone thrown to the people who have bought via FLGS.

I know there are sites like http://www.bits-and-mortar.com that help you get the pdf if you buy it from a physical store. But I don't think this adds it to your Paizo account to show proof of actual ownership of the pdf.

I understand why, I just wish there was some way to deal with this. I am really going to have to wait and see what is available via Realm Works. Then I will have to see what PDFs to buy. I am just going to assume its not everything at once. All things being said, this is not an expensive hobby, so I don't mind throwing money to people who make it possible.

I also have had a similar problem. I went and bought Rise of the Runelords and Curse of the Crimson Throne's anniversary edition through a brick and morder store.

After which I subscribed to the Adventure Path subscription (among others). Needing to go back and get the PDFs is really a bummer, if I plan on running them via Realm Works (or other similar product).

Is there any way, with this new rule, we would be given an opportunity to get cheap PDFs for purchases made outside the subscription? Something like cutting out proof of owning the physical book? Like how you used to cut out "Proof of purchase" for things. Either getting a Free PDF or one at an extreme discount. This would not need to last forever, since people can make decisions for subscriptions going forward.

I know there is a risk of people going into stores and cutting out whatever proof, but with the type of gaming community I think the risk is actually pretty low.

Dang! I didn't check this page for awhile.. Are those limited amount already sold out??!

I have been putting off ordering these, but apparently they are not in stock anymore. I would also like to see if there is an update from the manufacturer.

Hopefully they have re-released this product with whatever changes. I can't seem to find their own personal website. These are getting more and more needed at my table!

Makes sense! The rules being built around emerging guns.

I got DM approval to allow myself an advanced gun. I am only dipping into Gunslinger, and its not my normal action, so it's not really game breaking.

Its a slightly modified Skull & Shackles campaign. I am playing a Sing Singer (Bard) with 1 dip into Mysterious Stranger. So I can shoot between singing/spells/etc.

Going to bookmark this link as proof. As a note: Hero Lab doesn't let me do this, which why I had the rule question to begin with.

Thank you both.

I have done a ton of searching and I can't seen to find a specific answer about this.

I know it was Errataed that Rapid Reload moves all Advanced Firearms reload to a free action.

I know you can Rapid Fire a Revolver (multiple bullets in it), but can you rapid fire with a Rifle? I would assume a reload of a Free action would mean I could.

BUT.. Lightning Reload (Ex) seems to counter this a bit. It says if you have Rapid Reload or are using Alchemical cartridges, you can reload a single barrel of a weapon as a free action each round instead.

I know the real benefit of this is that it does not provoke a AoO. But it says "a single barrel". Does this basically limit the free action to once per round?

If I have a Rifle, Rapid Reload, and Rapid Fire. Can I shoot the rifle, reload as a free action (via Rapid reload), then fire again, as a Rapid Fire action? Then potentially again as a second BAB shot?

If this has been answered before and my google-fu has failed me, I apologize.

He might end up with my hand-me-down headbands. Still pretty low level, so not enough gold for them yet.

I talked to my DM, she is cool with "house-ruling" using my Charisma, since we are "magically linked". Also because its too funny not to see used.

Still, bit of a bummer it doesn't follow the actual rules.

Yeah I kinda felt that was going to be the case. I doubt there are many spells that have this issue.

With my familiar having a Strength of 2 and a Charisma of 7. The Damage Range would be 1-4, where as if it was able to use my Charisma (20) it would be 6-11. Oh well.

Too bad this isn't some sort of touch attack. Create a mobile flying yelling parrot turret.

So in the new book Magic Tactics Toolbox there is a new spell: Biting Words.
Short version:
Level 1
Target You
Effect: Once you cast this on yourself you can do a ranged touch attack doing 1d6 + STR or CHA (whichever is higher). It lasts 1 min/level and uses a minute per use.
Now I am a Sea Singer Bard. So I have a Parrot Familiar. He can speak Common (since he starts with a language). As a Familiar I can cast spells with a Target:You on him. Once I do this, does the damage (1d6 + STR or CHA) come from his stats? Or mine? I am the one who cast it on him. But now he is holding the spell and performing it.
I see 2 arguments to his:
1. The source of the magic is coming form me. So my Charisma modifier is what is creating the power behind the spell. So the Familiar is just using up my power I gave it, thus using my CHA modifier.
2. The Bird is doing the actual attacks by yelling at the enemy, so it would have to be its own Charisma...
Since Familiars can deliver touch attacks for you, the spell generally comes from you, but the "aiming" comes from the Familiar.
Thoughts?

Well can't hurt to keep the thread active right up to FAQ day then.

Not sure how they pick which FAQ request to go through. Though, from reading through this thread, it seems like this one has some repercussions that they might be avoiding.

My little Halfling Bard/Gunslinger wants to know! :-)

Just wanted to jump in to keep this thread alive.

In my next game session this is going to matter. I will probably just talk to my DM and hopefully she agrees it's ok. I check this thread every day. Fingers crossed they get to it eventually.

Wow, thank you for the update. And thanks to Mark as well. I am glad they are aware of this thread and are at least thinking of it. Even if its just mulling it over in the back of their heads.

I agree with Fourshadow. I don't want this to die. I would really love an answer. It seemed like there was tons of discussion regarding this topic early on, but since there was no answer people kinda left it behind. Maybe their Bards all died :P.

With so many rules, some are bound to get a bit confusing. Still having some actual rule clarification for this would give Bard a ton more options.
