The Kingdom of Talingarde is the most noble, virtuous, peaceful nation in the known world.
This is the story of how you burned this insipid paradise to the ground.

Elijah strikes out dropping the guard at the top of the stairs.

You hear shouts from the bottom of the stairs. "Fall back! There's too many of them for us to be bottle necked like this. Fall Back!

With that the guard at the bottom of the stairs will grab his fallen compatriot and drag him down the stairway.

"Hehehehmmmm...Grumblejack, you big and strong thing you, be a hero and lead the way up the stairs would you?"

Failing to find access to the next level through the fireplace, Lanarial will follow the ogre and look for a shot at any of the guards. The armor will have to wait until the immediate threat is handled...

I must have missed you looking for a way down through the fireplace, it is possible for a medium creature to squeeze and shimmy their way down but the warmth of the fireplace suggests it is likely lit on the level below.

The warmth would have stopped him =) So the same outcome! Can I use an ogre as concealment to make a stealth check? ;-)

The guards have all gone down a flight and retreated so I'm treating you as out of combat unless you guys follow.

Did the ogre follow Varshana's suggestion to chase after them? If not can we close and barricade the door?

"Wait. I have a better idea. We have a little bit of time as they reorganize. Grumblejack, keep watch at the top of the stairs. Whoever can should use this time to get armor equipped. Once armor is equipped, then we can move forward." Things were quickly turning south. Though they had bought themselves some time, Lukasz was already limited to his basic Orisons and one spell that was suited for subterfuge, not combat.

Should the group decide to hold their position so that armor can be equipped, Lukasz assists in the armor donning as his mind reflects on what patches were left on the magical veil. A window, a lantern, a length of rope or twine and a pile of bricks...or perhaps coin. But what use would a window be, unless... As his hands fumbled with leather clasps and metal rivets, his eyes wander to places where a rope could be secured.

Seeing the guards retreat, gives Elijah more resolve to escape the current hell hole. He takes a step forward, then realizes he should don the armor and properly equip for the large fight to come.

don armor hastily will be my action for the next 5 rounds

Lanarial will strip the other guard of armor, shield, and longsword. He will keep the bow and arrows, since these are his preferred weapons, but he can fight well enough with the sword. If no one else takes the other bow, he will take all of the arrows in one quiver. "Someone give Elijah and me a hand with this armor. Once we're ready, we need to keep moving before they reinforce!"

Dargon will assist Elijah putting on the armor

While Dargon and Lukasz were helping their teammates don their newly procured armor, Lukasz whispers, "Dargon. Did the table in the interrogation chamber look sturdy enough to tie a rope to? The veil might help us to get off this level of the prison without taking the stairs."

Varshana only half listens to the others. The sight of the guards being stripped stirs something in her. She breathes heavily for a moment, then walks to the nearest guard being stripped and chants something.

Concentration: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Frustration becomes obvious on her pretty brow...then a look of animal delight. She takes her dagger and begins to carve something into the man's face...hard enough to only leave permanent scarring. When she's done she sighs in ecstacy, stands up, and looks around innocently. "All praise to the Midnight Lord." she says simply and walks towards the stairs.

The man's face has cuts looking like a ghastly skull with a spiked chain coming from the eyes.

Noting Varshana's fervor, Lukasz grinned slightly, there was a time and place for zealous worship and now was neither the time nor the place. However, so long as it didn't interfere with their escape, Lukasz had no problem with it.

It might, but Im not a carpenter and cannot attest to how much weight it would hold... What would I think DM?

Elijah you have more than enough time to don the armor hastily.

Upon inspecting the table its a small wooden table with four thin legs for support.

Knowledge(Engineering) DC 10 or higher:

The table does not look sturdy at all. The legs would make for decent clubs but would not hold much weight. Climbing on the table would likely break it.

perception DC 10 + 2 for each 10' from the stairs.:

Downstairs a door is shut and the voices you could hear have faded away.

Scanning the rest of the room, Lukasz says, "Here are the options I see. Now that everyone is equipped, we either head down the stairs to whatever trap they are setting up for us, head down the fireplace until we reach the kitchen, or find a place where we can tie off a rope as I believe we might have a way of making a window. Of these options, the stairs is the only option where Grumblejack would probably be able to fit. So that is what I propose. I suggest Elijah take point with Grumblejack following behind. Varshana and myself will take up the middle with Dargon, Lanarial and the Captain watching the rear."

Elf Wizard 2 | HP: 6/16 (18)| AC: 11 (11 Tch, 10 Ff) | CMD: 13 | F: +4, R: +2, W: +6; +2 vs. enchantments; Immune sleep | Init: +1 | Perc: +4 | 0/7 - telekinetic fist (1d4+1 bludgeoning) | Active conditions: -1 CON; sickened; fatigued; voiceless

Lanarial now stands ready in a chain shirt armor, with the shield strapped to his back, a longsword hanging at his side, a quiver full of arrows on the other, and holding the bow in one hand with an arrow nocked. He nods his assent at Lukasz statement, saying, "The fireplace may be out of the question unless you don't mind ending up a little more well done than rare... Now let's get down these steps and kill the other guards before too many more show up! We can keep the magic window as an option for a really tough spot later."

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Grumblejack starts his way down the stairway, squeezing his way down slowly.

Lanarial quickly takes the bowstring from the other long bow and tucks it away, the rest of the arrows, and then falls in behind the ogre as he heads down the steps. "I want to be able to get a couple shots off as soon as I can without having the rest of your noggins in the way! Once we get into it I'll fall back and shoot from there. Let's go..."

Once Grumblejack, Lanarial, and Elijah start down the stairs, Lukasz follows, doing his best to ignore the occasional spasms the wrack his arm. as he grips the heavy shield in his hand.

Varshana will follow somewhere in the middle.

Elijah will be towards the front, most likely right behind Grumblejack
