Throne of Night Adventure Path - Drow Campaign

1 to 50 of 222 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | next > last >>

I haven't DM'd a PBP for a while, my current table top game is still in the middle of Kingmaker, and I really like the first book in the Throne of Night series. I'm a little scared that I wont see the 2nd book but I want to get rolling on this anyways. I want to see if there is any interest in this campaign with the understanding that if the books are never published, then it may not come to completion. Essentially, the campaign is an underdark kingmaker campaign.

Basics: I'm going to either do an all dwarven or all drow campaign using the Throne of Night adventure path. I would take seven characters using either
(1) the Seven Siblings & Lost House (drow) [quick version: you are septuplets and your drow house was destroyed] or
(2) We are Royalty (dwarf) [quick version: you are all that is left of the last royal dwarf bloodline and it is up to you to reclaim your homeland].

Acceptable resources would be anything from PRD with the following exceptions: gunslinger, firearms, ninja, samurai, and firearms.

Other particulars of character creation would be posted later once I determine which type of campaign I would be doing.

So, what I would like to know is if there are interested players. Please include whether you would want to play dwarves (good guys) or drow (bad guys) and why.

an all drow campaign has..."potential". It could be exceptionally interesting although it would be ideal that this was a campaign where the pcs themselves of a more LE bent (or even the three neutral alignments, perhaps the pcs have decided that the current style of drow leadership isn't good in the long run?).

Pretty sure someone recruited for an all dwarven group a month or so ago. There were 15 or 20 applicants if I remember right. I would be intrested in this, dwarf not drow, I simply don't play evil pcs.

I am interested!

I would play either. Though I would be more interested in the Dwarf option... It has been a while since I have gotten the chance to play a Dwarf... Plus if it is Golarion it can help me learn a little more about the setting.

And if the book is never published you can always use the first as a jumping point for your own campaign. If you would like I could help with that.

EDIT: What is wrong with Evil PCs? Let your inner Dark Side out!

There were 21 more or less completed characters, I recruited 7 players from this batch.

Oh heck yes. I prefer a dwarf campaign but I'd go drow if that was the GM's preference. I tried for one earlier, and yeah, competition was stiff!

I would be interested and would play either faction, though I think I would prefer a dwarf game.

I count 5-6 4 of which are up for either path. Seems like this will be interesting...

I will start on my 2 Character Plans now to hopefully get a leg up. ;P

I'm in for either path. The Drow path does tweak my curiosity more though, simply from the seven siblings aspect - lots of chance for interplay between the PCs in a way you don't normally see.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll see what bites we get by tomorrow and make a decision.

Im up for a Drow path :D It seens really fun :)

Interested in either. Drow and dwarfs either a classic.

Mmm, it occurs to me I said what, but I didn't say why.

I am in a Kingmaker game that I love... and the idea of a dwarven kingdom that we as players could help shape the flavor and feel of just sounds amazing. To me, of all the races, dwarves are the natural builders and shapers of the world. They aren't pretty people, but they MAKE greatness. Other races can do some amazing things, but if you want a fortress rising in the middle of nowhere, or grand sweeping arches adorned with flickering runes, I think 'Dwarf made'.

That said, I'd still play a dark elf/drow one as well. :)

Dwarf for me, but I would gladly play a drow as well.

"Only the ugly can know true beauty."

I would be down for either. They're both pretty cool premises.

Interested in the drow aspect.

Preference for it due to a desire to see a group of mature players show that an all/mostly evil party is perfectly capable of functioning, and doesn't have to include juvenile jackassery, as is often touted.

That, and I'm naturally a horrible human being...so the opportunity to play something closer to my own personality is something I'd like to jump on like a defenseless puppy...with a straight razor...and a box of salt...course grained...

Though I suppose playing a dwarf is neat and all too...

Ooooo... Now I wanna play in the Drow Campaign.

LE Drow Fighter would be fun... Though so would a CE one...

I am SO down for either game. I personally prefer Drow because manipulations and machinations are lots of fun, but Dwarves are great fun as well. I have potential character concepts for either one. I'm thinking either one of the middle children in the Drow family who is not a spellcaster but an alchemist that is studying abberations or a bodyguard of one of the royalty in the Dwarf campaign.

I just know I want to run a Fighter or Rogue.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm playing kingmaker right now and I love the idea of a sandboxy underdark game. I toured a salt mine in Poland once, where the workers had carved out a complete cathedral underground. It was like walking into Moria, and I've always wanted to play in a game like that since.

I think I'd like to run a crossbow focused stealth character- sneaky sniper/scout type. Given both races have darkvision I think it would work well with either group.

Sovereign Court

I am a Dwarf player but I don't mind playing drow.

Ranger for me. When is this?

I'd be interested, and both paths sound fun.

THIS

If it goes drow, I'll throw my hat in.

Would be very interested in either option

Pride and Hubris drives either group - for the dwarves its a reclamation destiny, a chance to write wrongs and recover lost glory. For the drow its both a personal and racial ego...

Colour me interested in a Dwarven Savage Skald - a warrior poet and narrator of this saga. For the drow... Rogue (poisoner) would fit nicely - harvester of toxins and all that good stuff :)

Being in a dwarf side I reckon it would be cool to see how the drow side works. So count me interested for that.

I would be interested in participating. WHile I am more interested in playing as a dwarf, I have a few drow concepts that would work as well.

So many ideas for dwarves. I tried out for a Dwarf Cleric last time, and might again. Though there is something to be said for your straight forward fighter type :) I've also never played a magus before, a first level dwarf might be the place to start.

Drow of a fallen house? I might try a summoner or witch, after all, those who've been reduced to shame and strive to regain glory need allies and those two classes have theirs built in.

Question: Are guns allowed?

I kid, I kid! Anyways, I would be very interested in playing in the evil version, I have this idea for a drow monk. However the dwarven version sounds fun as well.

I'd be up for the Dwarf group; an all Drow group just strikes me as running too great a risk of ending up teenage-angsty, or as a Mary-Sue Drzzt fest.

I'm fine with either Dwarves or Drow! Also, hello there people I know!

I'd be very much interested myself. I always wanted to do a Drow intrigue campaign.

It looks like the interest check came back as follows (note: if you gave a preference, then I placed your name in the category regardless if you would be willing to do the other).

Drow:
- Mekura
- Tiasar
- True Repentence
- Pirate Devon
- Azaelas Fayth
- Andiemus
- Fraust
- Aku Warashi
- Iron Desk
- Viluki

Dwarf:
- Rigor Rictus
- Dathom
- Night Death
- Kozaric
- Ridge
- Keolin Portara
- Ghost1776

Either:
- The Silver Prince
- Black Dow
- El Ronza
- Fanguar
- Bane 88

I believe, against all experience and good sense, I will run it as a drow campaign. I will get some information posted tomorrow along with character creation rules. I would just request character concepts initially and full character generation after selected. More to come soon!

And so the drow win through treachery!...err majority :)

Well, like I said, I would still be happy to apply so thanks for doing this, DM Gray!

Well yeah. They're Drow.

The Exchange

*300 mirror images of one drow lower their hands*

Hey, we won with majority fair and square!

Not that it applies to me since I'm intending on making a monk, but what alignments are allowed?

Sovereign Court

heh heh Drow Warpriest perhaps?

I feel a need to either go Warpriest or Fighter (not like Drzzzzzz but like Ryld Argith)

The Exchange

Oh speaking of the new advanced class guide, are we allowed to use that?

Is there a relatively easy place to get the Player's Guide?

I'm down for dwarves or drow but probably prefer drow. I'll submit a character for either however.

All siblings. Could be fun. Sibling rivalry :D
What class though... maybe alchemist.

Sovereign Court

Wow. Sibling Rivalry....Drow style.

The Exchange

Hello Repentance, good to see you, this is Omen. Interesting to see what other drow characters you can cook up.

Oh hey Omen!

I know that the dwarves get numerous different options other than the standard +2 con +2wis -2cha sort of like the aasimar and tiefling so I guess drow will get the same treatment.

Im actually thinking a druid would be really cool. Yea I think im going to go with druid.

The Exchange

Well what I'm thinking of right now is going with the new Brawler class, picking up intimidate and getting the Nightmare feats (although not nightmare striker since I don't care for it much and won't have stunning fist anyways). Then I also want to get the Drow Nobility Feats.

As far as backstory goes he's going to be quite a stand out. As a child he always was getting into fights and causing trouble, coming home every other day with new bruises. He lacked most of the subtlety and guile of his peers, often resorting to fighting instead of dealing with their lies and tricks. This made him an interesting array of friends and enemies. Naturally there was much hatred for the kid who hit first and asked questions later, but some admired him for how straightforward he was and trusted him, mostly since they knew he didn't have the mind for tricking others.

Just some preliminary ideas, but I intend to have him be the shame of the family. As he grew up he became a heavy drinker and resorted to pit fighting for money. Normally whenever his siblings found him he was drunk and recovering from his latest injuries. More to come later, but I'd love to hear opinions on it.

If there is still an opening, I would like to submit a Drow Cleric (Demonic Disciple) and artist/poet who worships Hastur - The King in Yellow. If he survives long enough, eventually further embracing chaos by going into prestige class - Harrower.

note that I am leaning towards war priest/cleric of some description, although I need to see what I got to work with before I finalize.

I don't think a Drow game tickles my particular fancy at this time, so I believe I will bow out. Thank you for considering me, and I hope those who are selected have a great game!

Assuming we're all siblings or at least under the same house, getting a better sense of said house and its reasons for having fallen apart would be nice to know for character concepts. If that sort of thing figures into the players guide, then no doubt by the time you answer this I'll have read it :D

I don't know what his class will be. I don't know what his stats will be. I don't even have a name decided upon. But I know this.

I claim this avatar.

I wouldn't mind playing a drow again, I've played one before.

Do they all have to be evil? I tend to play neutral characters, and there's no reason a drow couldn't be neutral (my last one was LN).

I'm thinking a LN Black Blade Magus.

Or perhaps a LN Bard of some stripe.

My assumption would be no drow nobles? :)
