What about Variant Rules like Piecemeal Armour & Words of Power?

This is Tiasar, posting via alias.

Character complete, pending a few detail changes and elaborations. Would love to hear thoughts and feedback (from anybody).

So far the only thing I can say is a warning that, by the last I heard, under R.A.W. Spell Dancer is an Archetype only available to Elves & even Half-Elves are dependent upon GM Ruling.

Though I could be Wrong. Who knows.

Recent FAQ cleared that up, if you count as <blah> then you count as <blah> for it. So half-elf can take elf, human, and half-elf archetypes.

Well I can understand the worry, but

So they're more elf than half-elves. In fact, they are elves, just a very different breed. I could understand a DM seeing and ruling this differently, but it's not the way my local and online players have seen it.

Just pointing out that it could be done that way. I agree that they should count as elves.

I still think Ninja is the perfect class for this as it is the perfect Assassin when it comes to Base Classes.

The ninja class is generally considered very overpowered (which I agree with).

How so?

It is because of their "ninja tricks". Particularly being able to duplicate the invisibility and mirror image spell at level two. Not to mention the invisibility is a swift action, which means it hardly does anything to the rest of your turn. Now dip into monk (master of many styles) and pick up crane riposte or another powerful feat tree. Now you fly around the battlefield, vanishing in and out of existence and stabbing anybody you want to in the neck. Also you're nearly impossible to hit/target due to high powered style feats and mirror images.

I don't even play ninja's and that took me a few minutes to come up with. Somebody with some time and effort could make something even worse.

Another question of mine- Are we going with the we're "The PCs are very rare elven septuplets"? Because alot of people don't seem to be building their characters with that in mind, given that some people wanna be twins and alot of people are calling themselves the "Youngest" when we should all be the same age? Lol.

Also. Thinking Drow Alchemist would do awesomely. Still pondering some build stuff. Anyone planning on doing a female, or should I be the one to even out the gender?

You also will be spending a lot of Ki on them as well. The Iconic Ninja can use invisibility a total of 4 Times at level 4 and 5 times at Level 7 IF she doesn't use any other ability that requires ki. At level 2 she is able to use it 3 Times. During that time she cannot attack or do anything besides a Double Move IIRC.

The Exchange

Äldria is a female

Why couldn't the ninja attack in the same round? A swift action doesn't impede them.

@Mekura: You can still be the youngest of Septuplets. After all it isn't just suddenly 7 babies popping out at once they will have an order in the end. Plus Triplets, Quadruplets and their like can be any combination of Twins & Individual. Heck, one group of Quadruplets was in-fact two sets of Identical Twins.

The Exchange

@Azaelas. That was a fantastic phenomenon you just described, damn my imagination lol

You can, but it kind of defeats the purposes unless you just want a sneak attack. And at that point, it's a big use of resources for a single sneak attack. Any sort of attack ends the vanish.

I'm sorry... I am just glad I am not the only one that had that bad of an image.

And if you are using Assassinate then you could but mainly you are going to want to use it to either get away and hide or get safely into position to full-attack and hopefully get sneak attack on every attack. But it still is taking a very limited resource.

Unless you can catch them flat foot with vanish, the vanish doesn't really help with a full attack sneak attack. If they are already alert, you get it on the first attack, then you lose invisibility, and you get normal attacks for the itteratives.

It's not nearly as powerful as people think. :)

Well it does help with getting through crowds to flank with the Fighter.

The Exchange

If you're invisible anybody you attack is considered flat footed.

*Shrugs* Either way, the class is generally considered overpowered and I'm not the expert on it. If you want to keep debating you an start a different thread or PM me, I don't want to flood an unrelated recruitment thread with this anymore.

But seriously, imagine that doctor when a 20th level baby cannon fires at them.

Vanish is awesome for survivability. It lasts multiple rounds, so you can just pop it at the end of your turn and get the AC bonus and 50% miss chance. Plus at level 10 there is the greater version, so a ninja will pretty much be invisible for every fight all day long.

Flat-Footed only lasts for the first attack.

@Fanguar: I don't think we are talking about the same thing as you are...

I'm thinking more of the Mother when that happens.

My oracle is female also. So there should be no shortage of options. I will bags second oldest! Is 240ft darkvision op?

How did you get that?

Campaign trait gives you 180 dark vision to start with, Oracle stuff adds onto it.

The Oracle can add to Darkvision... Wow I really need to look into it more...

Focus: Intelligence (18)
Strength: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Dexterity: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Constitution: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Charisma: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Foible: Wisdom (8)

The low Con hurts, but I like having high Charisma, lol. Definitely going to be fun to play. I'ma probably use the normal Drow modifiers.

Its actually improved by shadow bloodline that i would get from eldritch heritage at 13th. Till then its still just 180

hmmm I'm fine with any order. I'm claiming with this fighter. lol

Oh nice.

I would probably be the 3rd Oldest, if not the Oldest if I get chosen.

Yes, all of the PCs are septuplets; therefore, one is only older or younger by a matter minutes.

As far as variants go, no piecemeal armor or words of power. I may be using hero points.

If I get chosen I suggest rolling between all of us to see our order lol.

Ugh... I hate Hero Points...

Why's that?

I bags Azaelas' hero points then :D

They just throw the game off to me. It feels odd. Now in a Lower PBS or Fate Driven game then I might could see them but otherwise they just don't feel right.

I'm thinking of a ranger; will roll first before going further.

Strength 18
Dexterity 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Constitution 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Wisdom 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Intelligence 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Charisma 8

Let me try working on this. Will submit a character before friday.

Intelligence and Wisdom are switched so you have higher Intelligence than Wisdom.

Thanks Azaelas, will correct it.

Lets try again then:

Roll 1: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Roll 2: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Roll 3: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Roll 4: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

I can work with this :D

Nice rolls.

The Exchange

What domains are available from the.Patron?

WooHoo! With Aku Warashi's rerolls, I think my druid is firmly ensconced at the bottom of the heap :/

Total modifiers +5 before racial adjusts. Anybody beat that?

I'm actually looking forward to playing a character with 3 foibles- its the kind of thing that makes characters fun and memorable.

Okay, sorry I took so long. I took the Treacherous Infiltrator and made myself a bard :)

Vrek is Here!

Going to bow out. Best of luck guys and gals.

Off-hand I'm thinking to be the oldest, or on the older scale, given how people are leaning. Regardless, I see my character as likely being the most mature. Probably going to have him be Lawful-Evil. Thinking he'll be the one nobody in the family will want to associate with, but the one who's always willing to aid. For a price. Likely male if we're going to have a healthy gender balance. Plus that means I get to be sexist against the matriarchs.

Also bowing out - more than enough interest - good luck all :)

So how many fools are left?

Brek is finally finished.
Lawful Evil Drow Fighter (Cavern Sniper)

Brek is as prideful as he is skilled. Both in ranged and melee attack, I'm looking at him as the armored scout and switch hitter.

Wow, so many Lawful evils. where's the love for Chaos? :)

I figure our family dynamic has lasted due to us having to trust one another, and that our outcast status has formed a fragile but lasting sense of belonging. Or at the very least, we're bound with hate to the rest of the Drow.
