It depends. One group I am a part of is starting Book 4 of Shattered Star and we've been at it a little over a year now.

I was wondering if I could take a new feat being offered in this month's Player's Companion. Here's the text of it
SUMMON EVIL MONSTER
You can summon the aid of creatures driven their very nature to destroy goodness.
Prerequisite: Evil alignment.
Benefit: When casting summon monster, you also have access to the list of evil monsters on this page. When summoning a creature from this list, your debased nature allows you to cast the spell as a standard action. The summoned creature appears as normal for the spell but can’t act until next your next turn. It is not flat-footed, however, and it can make attacks of opportunity as normal. These effects don’t apply for creatures from the standard list that aren’t also on this list.
Special: If you possess the Sacred Summons UM feat, you can apply it to a creature on this list whose alignment (as opposed to its subtype or subtypes) matches your aura.
And here's a list of monsters I'll have access to in addition to what's on the summon monster list.
1st Level
Fiendish dire rat (NE)
Fiendish fire beetle (NE)
Fiendish ghost scorpion (NE)
Fiendish pony (NE)
Fiendish stingray (NE)
Fiendish vulture (NE)
2nd Level
Damned petitioner (LE)
Fiendish squid (NE)
FuathB3 (gremlin, CE)
Hunted petitioner (NE)
Larvae petitioner (CE)
Lemure (devil, LE)
PugwampiB3 (gremlin, NE)

Jokum of the Breakbones |

Jokum's been updated! FC bonus went to a skill rank, he gets an exciting new shapeshifting ability, and the new feat is Charge of the Righteous, which should come in pretty handy. ;)

Same here. Well, not hospitalization, but we released another version of our software and I was in crunch time. I could've sworn I posted it last week. Will be updating my character sheet and catching up this evening hopefully.

Tesseract Squires |

I recently switched to a new computer and Chrome remembered to keep my campaign page as one of the tabs that opens on launch.
However, I didn't realize that I wasn't getting any "(5 new)" additions to the posts because.... I hadn't actually logged in to Paizo on this computer. Sorry!
Updating and posting shortly.
@Ce'Eshna- I'm so sorry to hear about that! :( Virtual flowers and hugs to you!

Karthak Ironbreaker |

@ Ce-Eshna: Best wishes for quick and complete recovery!
Btw I'm waiting to post for everyone to post his action. I suppose my previous roll went lost due to the prepared action that crusader pulled off?

[Brief message to all games]
My apologies for the MIA over the last couple of days--work jumped me with a couple surprises earlier this week, I'm opening a show Sunday night, flying to a wedding in a different state Saturday, and helping run a huge fundraising event on Monday. So I may be out for a day or two more, though I will try to read and update as I can! Please feel free to bot me if needed.
All should be back to normal on the 21st! :)

Xaivan Slingblade |

My apologies but I find that my current life schedule is going to cause me to pear back on a couple of these PbP games. Since this is a non-PFS game, dropping from this one makes the most sense.
Thanks for having me and I wish the rest of the party luck on saving the world.

GM Striker |

Apologies for the last week, life has gotten real busy for me as of late. We've spent a lot of time together working our way through book 1, nearly 11 months, and we've all done our best to post regularly. I've been rather impressed with all of you who stuck to it and gotten this far.
Unfortunately I will be unable to continue as your GM as I'll be shipping out to Fort Benning for BCT. I've already posted a thread looking for someone to replace me as GM. Of course if any of you would like to take over you would be welcomed to do so.
Its been a long and crazy ride and it has been a great pleasure to be with you all this far.

Jokum of the Breakbones |

Sad to be losing you, Striker! Best of luck at Fort Benning.
I hope all the rest of us do manage to stay; I think we've got a good thing going here, I've really enjoyed gaming with you all!

I enjoy gaming with you all as well, even though I've been pretty sparse these past few weeks. I'll keep a close eye on this thread. Hopefully someone will step up. We've ran a pretty standard game with few modifications so it shouldn't be too bad finding someone to pick up the reins.

I'm pretty good. Funny story. I started playing a WotR home game and after a month we are now where this game left off. In that game I'm playing a cleric of Shelyn.
Anywho. It might be best if we put in another request for a GM, maybe even an arcane caster if we are sure Tess isn't coming back (haven't heard from her).

Jokum of the Breakbones |

It is made, and here. Please do chime in if there's anything you want to add!
Anyone have words of any sort from Tess?

Jokum of the Breakbones |

We certainly do! Sorry, I had to duck out for a "moment." We'd be pleased to have you on board, DM Camris! :)
You've already met myself and Karthak, Ce-Eshna is above, and Pollux will presumably chime in shortly. At the moment it looks increasingly like Tess will not return, which makes me all manner of sad. :( Hope she's doing well. Would you like to proceed with four players, or should we attempt to recruit a fifth (and/or sixth)?

![]() |

Here I am, chiming in. I would personally like to see two more people recruited to fill the holes left by Tess and Xaivan. We could definitely proceed with us four but I think PbPs need at least 5 people to shield against drop outs. I like the idea of adding a full caster and rogue-like to the mix.
Also, welcome DM-Camris. I'm looking forward to playing with you. I do want you to be aware that my character is a cleric of Asmodeus and that has caused some tension (and overall good rp) within our group but he is committed to the crusade. That being said... Here are some questions I have for you.
1. How do you feel about the Summon Evil Monster feat.
2. So far our fights have been surprisingly brutal, which I think was more our GM than the actual AP. (I've played up to our current point with a party of 4 and a 15pt buy and that group has breezed through combat). Will you be upscaling combat?
3. Can I drop my INT to a 7 and rearrange my stats a little. With a class that only gets 2 + INT skill points per level there is absolutely no mechanical difference between having a 7 and an 8 in INT. With few exceptions I always use the same array for 20pt buy (16/15/14/12/10/7) and would love to adjust this character to fit my usual habits.
Again: welcome, and I look forward to getting this show back on the road.

DM-Camris |

Glad to be here! Lets go with who you have here for this fight right now; we can recruit afterwards as needed.
Pollux:
1. You can use it no problem.
There are Consequences for using it though. Bear in mind that it IS an Evil spell, and long term use can erode your alignment. You'd have to work at that though.
Also, this campaign more than most involves HIGHER and LOWER deific powers. Using such a spell may affect the benefits/punishments meted out by such beings.
More importantly, your allies amongst the paladins and inquisitors may on occasion Smite first and ask questions later at the appearance of fiends in their midst (and their summoners).
But perhaps you enjoy a good waterboarding.
And in conclusion; you just go right ahead and summon those fiends!
2. It kinda depends on how combat efficient you guys are. If a fight against the villains turns into something like you curb stomping baby seals, I will advance the enemies a step or two. (I like to increase the number of mooks myself...) Otherwise I like to use the villains as written.
3. I don't use stat caps, so anyone who needs to can do so.
