Voren the Outsider |

And I'm not really in a position to stabilize Jokum.

Voren the Outsider |

Has Camris started the recruitment search?

Voren the Outsider |

Wow that spreadsheet does look complicated.

DM-Camris |

I hesitate to recruit any more right now, because you have four good posters at the moment, and further missions you can recruit npc's to cover any weak spots in your roster.
Of which, it should be said, you have a couple. Mainly your complete lack of a Skill monkey, and you don't have a full Divine caster.
Aside from that, I forgot that loot matrix was up there, so I have not updated it, ever. Can someone take that over?

Jokum of the Breakbones |

Hi all: Just so you know, I'm going into what will be a craaaaazy week at one of my jobs (and it's the one that's furthest away). My posting will likely be sporadic, so please feel free to bot me if needed. I'll still try to post on lunch breaks, etc. when I can.
Thanks!

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel |

Sounds good even short posts keeps it moving.
Let's let Voren heal Him before we go in because Jokum was awake and would
Have spoken up before we started heading in. If that is cool with the DM.

Voren the Outsider |

Sorry. I was attending a friend's birthday party. I'll get my post up soon.

Karthak Ironbreaker |

I suggest we share the money, take the equipment we need (in case there's disagreement on who would get what we could vote) and sell what we do not. The previous way of doing things was far too convulted. And of course let's share what is in the old inventory as detailed in the spreadsheet.
Karthak doesn't need anything of the new loot btw.

Voren the Outsider |

Oh, boy! Level 4!
Also, I wouldn't mind doing a group division of the loot. For the coins, I think an even split is fine. As for items, I think we need to list what we have and say what each person wants.

Ayerth Terramielle |

i think everyone needs a magic weapon, best fighters fitted first. That +1 morning star shoukd go to Voren now or eventually because it is a simple weapon correct? i havent looked through each characters sheet. obviously my character has been given. a really cool sword. has jokum gotten any loot in the past?

Voren the Outsider |

I'll update Voren soon. I can take the Morningstar. Voren's not a fighter but having extra protection is good. Also, he already has a cloak of resistance so he doesn't need the one from Faxon. Also, Camris, do I need to make Spellcraft and UMD checks and use Detect Magic to identify what everything is? Or is that just hand waved and done 'off screen'?

Karthak Ironbreaker |

Karthak has cloak of resistance too, so that's a good item for someone else. Also, you can see who got what in the right part of the spread sheet, Jokum got a masterwork chain mail IIRC.

Karthak Ironbreaker |

Also I was thinking we may need to find those 2 new players soon: a rogue type and a divine caster type could do wonders for us.
Also I suggest we start planning for what comes next: I suppose we'll need some cold iron equipment and probably an update to our gear, at level 4 it's likely we are nearing the end of this AP and the climax is probably filled with demons, so let's plan for that kind of encounters and cross our fingers...

Note that I wrote "SELL?" near each unclaimed object but that doesn't mean we have to sell anything: just claim the item in question and update the list with your name near to it. I added a "?" near the item Arthas suggested people get, that's because you need to confirm you want the stuff in question.
Also I'm probably forgetting some of the loot we got since the old spreadsheet was last updated and now. If someone would be so kind to check we could have a complete list of what is avaiable.

Voren the Outsider |

Okay. I have updated Voren to level 4! Now I'll go through all of the loot and put down what I would like. I've only added the bracers of armor +1 and the wand of CMW to my alias. The problem is that Voren can't carry that much. In fact, you could argue that he's currently overencumbered right now So here's what Voren's interested in:
- 3 trail rations
- 2 potions of CLW
- 1 potions of Lesser Restoration
- Scroll of Shocking Grasp
- Scroll of Resist Energy
- Possibly Wand of Neutralize Poison
- Millorn's Spellbook (There could be some spells in there that are on the witch spell list. In theory, Voren could take the spellbook and teach those spells to Ayne to add to his spell list, using the same method as teaching her a spell from a scroll.)
- Scroll of Cause Fear (Again, Voren could try and teach Cause Fear to Ayne to add it to his spell list.)
- +1 Morningstar (Voren can take this and use it for added insurance. He's proficient with it. Though, he might need to give up something to keep his encumbrance low.)
- Wand of CMW (I've already taken)
- Bracers of armor +1 (I've already taken)
- Wand of Magic Missile (CL 3rd, 11 charges)
- At least 1 potion of CMW
- dimensional lock?
- damage wizard spell book (for the same reasons as Millorn's book)
- more potions
- his portion of the money
I have more thoughts and I'll post when I get an opportunity.

Karthak Ironbreaker |

Right... I was forgetting about the roll, I just took the half+1 advancement.
HP roll: 1d8 ⇒ 6
As for Voren, as far as I'm concerned you can have all the things you staked a claim to. I already gave you and the others 2 potions of CLW AND a potion of lesser restoration, specify what else would you take please and I believe there will be no problems.
As for the rest of the loot... anyone can use the ranseur? It's a very powerful weapon, but it's evil.

Voren the Outsider |

1d6 ⇒ 6
While I'm at it, I'll post my thoughts, then try to post in the gameplay thread.
Karthak:
You said that we needed a rogue type and a divine caster. Would this divine caster also be a healer?
Camris:
There are a few questions I would like answers to.
1) Can I teach Ayne spells from a spellbook?
2) Do I need to roll a check to learn the effects of each magic item or is that not necassary?
3) There are some wands without a caster level. What are those caster level?
I think I could sell some things in order to lighten Voren back to a light load.
Karthak, I'll be sure to add what I want when I'm able. I think that I can get rid of my crossbow and bolts since, technically, my spells fit ranged attacks.
Also, how much money do we each get? I could try to do the math, if needed.

Voren the Outsider |

Okay, money. It breaks down like this:
In total: 11 pp + 4692 gp + 789 sp + 2,325 cp.
Let's break down the cp: 2,325 cp = 2 pp, 3 gp, 2 sp, 5 cp.
So now: 13 pp + 4695 gp + 791 sp + 5 cp
Silver: 791 sp = 7 pp, 9 gp, 1 sp
Now: 20 pp + 4704 gp + 1 sp + 5 cp
Gold: 4704 gp = 470 pp, 4 gp
So in total we have: 490 pp + 4 gp + 1 sp + 5 cp
Now for division:
490 pp/4 = 122 pp, 50 gp
54 gp/4 = 13 gp, 50 sp
51 sp/4 = 12 sp, 75 cp
80 cp/4 = 20 cp
So, after all that, the four of us would each get: 122 pp, 13 gp, 12 sp, 20 cp. If I got anything wrong, please let me know.
So, Voren will take:
- 3 trail rations (3 lbs)
- 2 potions of CLW (no weight)
- 1 potions of Lesser Restoration (no weight)
- Scroll of Shocking Grasp (no weight)
- Scroll of Resist Energy (no weight)
- Millorn's Spellbook (use to teach Ayne spells (?)) (3 lbs)
- Scroll of Cause Fear (use to teach Ayne Cause Fear)
- +1 Morningstar (6 lbs)
- Wand of CMW (already added)
- Bracers of armor +1 (already added)
- Wand of Magic Missile (CL 3rd, 11 charges) (no weight)
- damaged wizard spell book (for the same reasons as Millorn's book) (spells: alarm, dismissal, dispel magic, magic circle against chaos, resist energy, versatile weapon (APG)) (3 lbs)
- 122 pp, 13 gp, 12 sp, 20 cp
I'll add to my alias and post in the gameplay thread later.

Voren the Outsider |

Okay, I'm conflicted on the spellbooks. I looked back at the gameplay thread. I found the spells in Millron's book and after looking at both books, there's only 4 spells that I could try and add to my spell list: detect secret doors, fog cloud, levitate, and dispel magic. Most of them aren't on the witch list or are cantrips (which I know all of, anyway). I'll probably still take the books, try to learn the 4 spells (one of which is level 3), and sell what's left of the books.
I'll hold off on adding the books to my inventory until I know that I can add spells from the books to Ayne like a scroll.
Going back to money, if the 4000 gp Irabeth just paid us isn't included in Karthak's above post, then that's another 1000 gp for each us in addition to what I calculated.
EDIT: Sorry for posting so many posts in the ooc thread. Guess I have a lot to say today.

DM-Camris |

Voren:
1) Can I teach Ayne spells from a spellbook?
Yes, but you risk destroying that page from the spellbook, just like if you cast directly from it.
2) Do I need to roll a check to learn the effects of each magic item or is that not necassary?
Low level and/or common spells I typically handwave, as most people would know what they were. Rare, exotic or high level spells I typically will require a spellcraft/Knowledge:Arcana/Knowledge:History/Appraise roll.
3) There are some wands without a caster level. What are those caster level? That would be the minimum caster level to cast the spell. example: Cure Moderate would be CL3.

Karthak Ironbreaker |

I bolded the stuff people took. Let me know if you want something otherwise I suggest we sell and divide the money. Let me know.
As for Voren questions:
-I SUGGESTED we could use a divine spellcaster and a skill-type character (somehow I like the new investigator a lot...), but it's up to the GM and the rest of the group to consider that option. Maybe we can manage without more people, but having someone able to disable traps/get decent diplomacy/use stealth effectively could be a boon, the same goes for a divine spellcaster.
-Again, it's just a suggestion, the type of divine spellcaster we most need would be up to the GM to determine. Usually a divine spellcaster also heals but the amount of healing he can provide varies: an oracle of life is all about healing while most druids or a priest of Gorum would not really be about healing. That said there no such thing as "too much healing" in a Pathfinder game, if you ask me...

Voren the Outsider |

Thank you, Camris.
Thank you, Karthak. I was just curious. And I agree with you. There can't be too much healing. It improves on our survivability. I also like the investigator class, especially the empiricist archetype.

Voren the Outsider |

Also, is my math on the money correct?
And, again, I agree with Karthak's thoughts on additional players.

Jokum of the Breakbones |

I'm back! Trying to get caught up and also level up as I go...
A question for the group: Jokum gets his hunter's bond at this level. I'm personally kind of inclined to take the "group" one, but especially given his low Wisdom score that seems kind of weak. Thoughts...?
Just have trouble seeing Jokum with an animal companion.
Hit points!: 1d10 ⇒ 6 +2 for 8 hp this level...I'll see if I need the skill point, if not I'll add the FCB to my HP, which would bring me to 29.

Jokum of the Breakbones |

As to gear...am I correct that Irabeth gave us each 1,000 gp (two payments of 2,000 gp to the group)? Items follow; Jokum will gladly take the arrows, the potions, and the cloak, and he was already using the ranseur of the gargoyle. Let me know when I can add those to my list!

Karthak Ironbreaker |

Welcome back Jokum! As for the money, yes, Irabeth gave us 4000 gp (included in the total amount) and Voren was so kind to divide the money for us.
As for the equipment go on! I see you took the ranseur which is a good weapon. I'm tempted to take the +1 mace myself, just in case we need magical weapons later on. Also Arthas needs to get something for himself too, Radiance may be an artifact but he could use some extra potions at least.
The rest of the stuff I'm going to sell and post the gained money amount here so we can divide that too. Planning on buying a cold iron dwarven waraxe, btw.
EDIT: I'm not sure I can use the wand with Karthak, bless weapon is a paladin only spell and Karthak has like no skill with use magic device, Arthas would probably be a better fit for the item.
RE-EDIT: How does buying a masterwork cold iron dwarven waraxe work in terms of cost? A Waraxe costs 30 gp, cold iron doubles that cost, and masterwork adds 300 gp to the mix OR waraxe for 30 gp, then masterwork (total 330 gp) then double that due to cold iron? In the first case it would cost 360 gp, in the second case cost would go up to 660 gp. Which one is the correct way to calculate the waraxe's cost?

Voren the Outsider |

Okay. I think I have a solution for my over encumbrance. I'm thinking about buying a handy haversack. Just quick confirmation: this will lighten my load back to a light load, correct?

Voren the Outsider |

I would think that the masterwork cold iron dwarves waraxe would fall under the first. Because the axe would need to be forged in cold iron, then brought to the masterwork condition. Then again, that's my thought.
As for my handy haversack idea, maybe I should wait until all of the extra gear is sold and try buying a bag of holding?
I'm also trying to sell the spellbooks. I would assume that the resulting money from the spellbooks would be lower since I used pages from the book to learn more spells.

DM-Camris |

Questions, questions… Here are a few answers.
-Millorn Spellbook: Voren
I am pegging the value of this at 500 crowns.
...am I correct that Irabeth gave us each 1,000 gp (two payments of 2,000 gp to the group)?
Yes.
RE-EDIT: How does buying a masterwork cold iron dwarven waraxe work in terms of cost?

In the first case it would cost 360 gp, in the second case cost would go up to 660 gp.
Which one is the correct way to calculate the waraxe's cost?
In this case, the former would be the case. Right up until you start enchanting it. After that, you double the final cost, not the initial. It sucks, I know.
I'm thinking about buying a handy haversack. Just quick confirmation: this will lighten my load back to a light load, correct?
The Handy Haversack itself weighs five pounds. You can put up to 120 lbs worth of stuff into it, and it will remain five pounds weight.
[ooc]I’m too lazy to calculate the altered value of the spellbooks. The ballpark value of the damaged wizard spellbook at 700 gp, and the Millorn spellbook at 500gp are close enough for me I would assume that the resulting money from the spellbooks would be lower since I used pages from the book to learn more spells.

Voren the Outsider |

I got a question: In another pbp game, with Norv as the GM, he said that if I'm wearing gear, then they count as part of your outfit and there's no increase in weight. I was wondering if that's part of the pathfinder rules or if it's just a house rule.

-05 Potions of invisibility: Party loot
-2 potions of cure moderate wounds: Party loot
-2 potions of cure light wounds: Party loot
-Broken phylactery of faithfulness: Party loot
Notes: I considered the brass symbol of Baphomet destroyed, as that's what Karthak and probably Arthas would have done with it (or given to the crusaders for destruction), also I suggest we find a way to repair the philactery of faithfulness, although I have no idea of the cost.
Also, I don't want to seem unfair but I think it better for the books to be sold as communal property if they need to be sold. I'm all for Voren gaining the spells and destroying the books in the process however, because that helps the whole group.

Voren the Outsider |

I agree with you on the books, Karthak. Which is why everyone gets 300 gp from their sale. Voren tried to get all the spells he could from them, since they need to be on his spell list.
Also, I didn't know that it was a scroll of dimensional lock. We can keep it as party loot. Or I can take it if that's okay.
