When an old beggar shows up filthy and injured on the doorstep of the Augustana Pathfinder Lodge in Andoran and demands to be recognized as Andoran's one true Emperor, Venture-Captain Wallace is inclined to chase him off. But when the old beggar reveals a wayfinder and tells a tale of demons and portals to another world beneath the streets of Augustana, Wallace summons you from Absalom to investigate. Will you make it through sewers, swarms, and sanctuaries to uncover the truth or will the dangers of the Augustana underworld consume you forever?
Ok, before anyone posts anything else, and only once you have gotten your character and avatar mostly picked and set up, please post the following info for me. I like to do it first thing in the Discussion thread so that it is all located in one place, and easy to find near the end. All of this will be used on the Chronicle Sheets, as well as some of it for reporting, (as for Game Days, the DM's do not directly report the game themselves). So, with that in mind, please double check that the info is correct, as after I report it, I myself can not edit it, I need to contact a VC to do it, and it has happened a few times already :P
1.) Player Name (or Nickname)
2.) Character Name
3.) PFS Number and Character ID
4.) Faction
5.) Day Job Roll (or note that you do not have one)
6.) Anything pregame purchases you need recorded
7.) Anything else you might need recorded on a Chronicle.
When we get towards the end, I'll ask again, just to see if there are any changes before reporting.
Once I have everyone's info, then we can use this as a normal Discussion Thread.
I'm going to call it there, so this is the final roster for play.
I am now also opening up the Game Play Thread. For now, please only post in it once, with the character you will be playing, just to "dot". By doing that, you will then be able to see any new updates to any of these threads, an the entire campaign will be listed under your "My Campaigns" tab.

6.) any gear I have purchased and sold back is in profile if not already recorded on the chronicle, which would be his first chronicle.
Edit: oops looking on the wrong campaign. And that makes my roll result go up by 1, since this alias has a 9 instead of an 8.

DM Beckett, I think we just finished the last fight in the game Mors/Thad are currently in. So hopefully we'll be getting our Chronicle and making any gear changes soon.
Ok, looks like I still need some info from people.
Mahd:
Looks good. Unfortunately, I can't okay the change to the weapon. That's jus one of those PFS things. In a home game, I wouldn't mind. Also, for Feline, you will need to spend a point in Linguistics to get that. You can't take it as a starting language. That being said, I don't know of a single scenario where that comes up.
Mandower:
On a quick inspection, looks good.
Mors:
On a quick inspection, looks good.
Thaddeus:
On a quick inspection, looks good. Can I get you to copy your Chronicle Sheet info over to the Discussion Thread, please.
Sarpadian:
I'm really needing to see your character. I also need you to copy over your Chronicle Sheet info to the Discussion thread and post to dot in the Game Play, which I realize you need your character for.
If I could select an avatar picture, I would. I can't seem to find where to do so.
A gnome goes to one knee with a flourish. "I am Leb Unin, my Prince. I was raised here, but I have been away for quite some time myself."
Clink on the PFS link near the top left of the screen. Then, click on the menu link that says "My Pathfinder Society". THIS LINK MAY OR MAY NOT WORK
Next, scroll down to the correct character, and hit the "Edit" button to the right of the name. I suggest right clicking an open as another window, simply because it is time sensitive, and if you need to look through a lot of pictures, it might not save. So make sure you remember what you searched, and look at the page number it was on, just in case.
That will give you the full Avatar/Character edit screen, allowing you to choose or change your picture, change Factions, and do all of the things you can do in the quick edit section. Just keep in mind it only has like a 10 or 15 minute time limit, or anything you change will not save.
Character: Retty Wiggum
PFS #: 113140-2
Day Job: None
Faction: The Exchange
Chronicles: The Infernal Vault, The Horn of Aroden, We Be Goblins!, We Be Goblins Too!
Ok, since we have hit our frst map, I have created a link both under my avatar (The Prince), and also at the top of each page. The map is interactive, which means you can move your own character around. It will automatically save each time, (so if you are trying to measure out your movement, don't actually move or you will loose your place).
I've also rolled Init, and I try to use a sort of coded way of doing this.
I'll use this as an example here.
ROUND 1
Thaddeus (), Mahd (), Mandower (), and Leb ()
------------------------------------------------------
Thug 1 (), Thug 2 (), and Thug 3 ()
------------------------------------------------------
Retty () and Mors ()
The bolded section indicates which characters are currently up, while those that are striked through are those coming up soon. I don't mind if you post your action a bit early, especially if you might not be able to post later, but please keep in mind that if you post early, other characters might invalidate your action as they will still actually act first (it's best if you post things like, if I can move to _____, I'll attack with my mace, if I can't, I'll instead try to draw my bow and aim at ____).
Next to each name, I have included () as well, which is just something I use to remind everyone of certain things. If someone takes 5 damage, I'll put -5 in there to show they have taken 5 damage. Or if they are tripped, I'll generally turn their mini on the map as well as note in the init order, (-5, prone).
Let me know if you have any questions, and feel free to check out the map and let me know if there are any issues.

DM Beckett wrote:
Remind me real fast how your splash works on a Save
My understanding is that when an Alch crits with a bomb, the damage on the targeted opponent is doubled. The splash damage us not. So the splash target would have the standard DC for half the standard splash damage.
So how does this work for the knowledge and perception checks? Do we roll our skills in the gameplay thread, then look at the info if we exceed the DC, and possibly share the info with others?
Also, can I pick up one of the daggers from a corpse? Don't need to keep it after the scenario or anything, but in that fight I was thinking I'd be screwed if I threw my offhand dagger and lost it in the sewer.
Yep, in the game play thread, just roll your checks. If you beat the DC, then go ahead and read the spoiler.
If you want to share the info, (and you made the check to know it), then by all means, just like you would in a face to face game. I've seen a lot of players basically copy/paste the text and slightly edit it to be something they actually say in character.
There might also be a situation where you might not want to share the info, (probably rare), and that's fine too.
A good tactics is to first copy your whole text before posting, and instead Preview it, which will show you your roll's results. Make a few edits to incorporate that if you want, such as mentioning in character the spoiler information, (hey I see a hidden chest over there), make sure to copy the text again, (sometimes it gets eaten), and then Submit the post.
Yes, you can pick up and use the dagger, (or anything listed) for free. If, however, after the scenario you want to keep using it, you will need to actually buy it. That doesn't keep anyone else from also buying it, either. For things like potions, you can both use it in game and then buy it (to use it again) afterwards.
Thadd mentioned people should claim something if they want it, so if anyone wants to grab one of the items i've listed for him, speak up and drop it on your profile page somewhere.
They give you a nice little bonus against Filth Fever, a common disease in sewers and from many mundane enemies.
Also, we seem to be blasting though this one extremely fast. Even for a season 0. Can I get everyone to first recheck their Chronicle Sheet info, (by that I mean the info you gave me at the top of this page that is going to be going onto your Chronicle Sheets, not your previous Chronicle Sheets, and just make sure everything is correct.
Secondly, who is interested in continuing onto a new scenario after this. There will likely be another player joining as well, and it's not required, just if you would like to do another one right after this one.
Male Suli #135676-6 Racial boon Barbarian-Spirit Totem (Armored Hulk) 2: HP:25/25, Resist 7 all elements (except sonic), Spd:25, Init:3, AC:16, T:11, FF:15, Fort:5, Ref:1, Will:1, Perp:6, Lowlight, 8/8-rages
I'm interested in continuing another campaign, you see confident this will be over in a month. What do you have in mind? It might be something some of us already played.
also, this is still my first chronicle, so no changes needed.
I will work with everyone to try to find something everyone that will play can get credit for. I have plenty of scenarios and modules. Honestly, at this rate, it might be finished by next week. But, that's just a rough estimate.
Normally combat tend to take the longest, and you have already passed 2 of them quickly.
Player: Jimmy Lomax
Character: Thaddeus Silverhorn
PFS # 125008-3
Faction: Sovereign Court
Day Job: 17 (Am I supposed to roll for the next game?)
Chronicles: 2 (Including Prince of Aug.)
I'd like to try another as well. My Chronicle information above is correct.
This does bring up a question, though. I know as this character is in a pbp game he's locked out of playing anything else, but would he be able to get credit for games I GM locally?
As far as I know, yes. Thats how I generally do it myself, too. As they are applied in order, you do need to make sure you dont accidentally bump yourself out of the correct level, though. The other issue is, if you die, you might loose out twice.
So, do we have a general consensus on strategy? I realize that the baddies could (and probably will) show up at any time, and we can discuss this at length until they do.
HP 22/24 :: AC 20 CMD 17 :: Fort +8 Reflex +5 Will +8 :: Perception +2 (Darkvision 60) Initiative +1
My vote: Bottleneck and let Leb throw past us for optimal splash damage goodness. We may need to shift tactics once the baddie opens those doors, but I think this is the best plan given our current lack of information.
The difficulties to ranged attacks works as much to our favor as it works against us (given how few of us have a ranged focus).
So when those doors open, Retty should lead with a diplo attempt. My plan is to follow his good cop with some bad cop. Then, if they don't leave, we unleash hell.
Open Recruitment thus far. I'm also just now registering the game.
Looking for proactive players that can post around 1+/Day, (understandably less on the weekends and holidays).
Game will be held on the Paizo boards, and I will require a character sheet on this site, with at least the basics, and to look at a full character "sheet" in some fashion.
I'll be utilizing interactive maps through Google Docs, and also issuing a PDF chronicle sheet at the end. Willing to work with players, as well.
@letcherman69 it is a play by post using the pfs rules
that means
we play by posting in this thread
core races+tiefling+assimar+tengu
additional races can be unlocked with certain boons, how you get the boons is by attending conventions.
20 buy points, stat dropping allowed.
max hp at first, pfs average at later levels d6=4+con, d8=5+con, d10=6+con and d12=7+con.
150 gold to start regardless of class
we don't level up during the scenario, only at the end, even then you still might not level up.
2 traits, no drawbacks, but additional traits allowed.
none of the 3rd party stuff allowed
there is a link to the pfs rules, though I don't know where it is right now.
all core, base and hybrid classes allowed. And there are very few archtypes not allowed. Like the spellslinger wizard. The holy gun paladin and a few others. but if you wants guns, pick gunslinger.
so what about the people who had races that were once legal? Do they just change their race to have a legal character or are they just SOL for that character?
They are grandfathered in. You just cant create new character of those classes. Enjoy the one you have made and run in at least on scenario they are still playable.
DM Beckett, do you need to know which characters we'd like to play? I have few options, but at this point, I'm not sure which one I'd want to use (though I am definitely looking for low-level Gameday PbPs).
Yes, I would like to know what characters you will play, and that might also help others to decide what they will play or make.
The game will not start until Nov 1, but, the more time we have to figure things out and prep, the better.
A Game Day is sort of like a mini-Con. Joe Caubo and the online VC's and VL's are doing this so that we have a chance to win various extra Boons, get some new players in, etc. . . It's something I had been asking about for a while, and very pleased that we have this opportunity now.
That's also why I tend to pick the lower level and earlier scenarios, they are easier on new players. I also find that they tend to run a lot smoother than the new ones, and because everyone wants to play the new ones as they come out, there is a lot of desire to play the older ones, but sometimes it's hard to find a table.
okay, DM, do you need arcana or babers at this point?
Or rather what do the players want to play? As Arcane including magus, and Babers including ranged babers are the only things I play.
Took me a moment to figure out what you where trying to say there. By "babers", I'm thinking BaB, (Tank/Meat-Shield/DPS/etc).
In PFS, the assumption is that you really don't know what your party this episode will be, so the general idea is to play what you want to play, and hopefully you (and the others) have enough to cover whatever is lacking.
For the most part, scenarios tend to be written assuming that one of the big 4 "roles" may not be resent, (and it's typically divine in my experience), but that shouldn't really make the game impossible to complete. Of the top of my head, I can't think of anything that a party of 4 Clerics or Fighters or Rogues or (maybe) Wiz/Sor couldn't do with moderate ease and challenge. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Now, that being said, if you, (and I kind of mean this for everyone, not anyone in particular), have a few possible options, it might help to list a what they are, and give a brief hint at their build/playstyle/strengths, and then everyone else might have a better idea what to bring.
1) Ideally, I would get to play Mors Buolgun, a half-orc Warpriest of Ragathiel who is just kind of a thug for good (2-hander, heavy armor build). Problem is he's in a game right now that is moving a bit slow. I think he'll be available, but Im not 100% sure).
2) If Mors is unavailable, I'll play Raman Sanjihartna, Vudrani ruling-caste Arcane Duelist Bard. He's primarily a party face and a bit of a generalist otherwise, with a focus on helping his teammates succeed at whatever they try.

Well, we still have a while. Also, I'd be okay with you either hanging back in the game or jumping into the intro portion if your other game is that close when the time comes. Technically you can not play the same character in two different games, but I don't really consider the game to have truly started until after the initial briefing and a bit of RP to get everyone to know each other. So we can work it out when the time comes closer if that's what you want to do.
Thaddeus Silverhorn, Tiefling Investigator is my first choice. A smartaleck skill/knowledge monkey, he's currently in the same game as Mors, so that keeps it simple.
Otherwise, I would run my yet unnamed human EF Arcanist. He's new, so I'm still fleshing out his personality (and name.)
Here is the character. It is a Suli, but I did make the trade with a character and am suppose to be getting the boon soon. Will let you know when I get the boon, or just change my race if I don't get the boon in time.
Once I know for sure who is play, and you have all decided for sure what character you will be playing, I will open up the Gameplay Thread (for dotting ONLY), so that all the updates will appear under your games once you post. The game will actually begin on Nov 01 2014, as per the Game Day Event restrictions. I'm also waiting on everyone to pick characters before I do a basic evaluation, and give a bit more instructions.
okay, but this is the internet. If I was at a table-top I could bring the sheet with me and said, I used the boon and prove I have it, it would be right there in front of the DM.
How do I prove I have and used the boon and have it on my character via play-by-post? Do I just provide the link to it?
The link doesn't work, (as in it doesn't link to it). Generally, it's basically on the honor system. A bit more for online PFS, but what's to stop you from making 30 copies of the Boon and applying it to a different character and not running with the same DM to Catch it. So, unless a DM asks you to show them, or does a character "audit", don't worry too much about it. If they do, just have it so you can show them.
Can you tell me where the Unscathed Trait comes from?
I'll be playing Mors Buolgun, Warpriest 1. (Note, when his current game ends, which should be any day now, I'm modifying him to be a half-orc who follows Ragathiel. I have the build put together, but it won't be reflected on the profile page until the current game is finished. )
Do you want me to send you the planned build for verification? If so, how would you like for me to get that to you?
And (also for your convenience), here's a link to the build I intend to convert him to. The gear isn't really fleshed out in that doc, as I'm not sure what my gold will be after this current game wraps up.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you make the call on Mors. :)

Weapons Finesse(I would like make an amendment to the rule for the Chakram omitting the negative consequences for using it in melee combat as I will be using one with a cross bar similar to that featured in Xena post season 5.
Not lacking the Green skin or fair feature of an Elf, Mahd has a physique resembling something closer to a humans. Not nearly as lythe as your average Elf, he has broad shoulder and a strong jaw line. The violet eyes are unique and some believe they are related to portents of his birth. Although his face is still fair, his body bears the scars of the battles of his youth. But with those scare come the intense training and trials of an Orcish upbringing. Although the style of his hair has often changed to his condition his lax years of learn and growing in Rostav he has let his hair grow shoulder length, he often lets it flow free.
Character Backstory:
Born to an elicit affair between an Elven noble woman and a secret worshiper of Nulgreth during a blood moon, Mahd was seen as a bad omen. Due to his scandalous nature of his conception and the blasphemies committed by his father he was left to die of exposure in the wilderness outside on the border of Orcish lands.
Mahd was saved before succumbing to the elements by a Tiger, this ferocious beast rather than devouring this child brought him back to his master. This Tiger turned out to be the spirit animal of the most powerful Shaman in the region. Seeing this as an omen and recognizing the babies strength for surviving so long, the Half-Orc Shaman decided to raise him as his own.
Being an Elf raised among Orcs was a trying experience for Mahd. The other children both feared and hated him. Being Orcs it is needless to say the bullying was violent, especially when it came to the males. His relationship with the female Orcs was quite different, they were very split on him. Some found exotic and beautiful while other found him effeminate and hardly even a male at all. One day in his teen this prompted him to him to prove his masculinity and the oddest and most bold of ways. After a group of Orcs teased him about not being a man he exposed himself to them. To the jaw dropping surprise of the other, he was a male and massively disproportionately one to. From then on even though they still bullied him regularly the question of his sex was no longer an issue. In fact if it did anything it made his male contemporaries quite jealous, and thus more aggressive and violent toward him. As for the female well they only found him to be of use for one thing. Swifter and more muscular than your average Elf he often able to handle himself against the average Orc. However he often lost to the larger ones, he was able to level the playing field against most by wearing armor. This did not prevent him from being harmed by groups, although group attacks rarely happened due to a fear of his patron and the general fear of being perceive a having to need to attack in groups.
This all changed around the age of 25 when Mahd started developing arcane powers. The bullying of the other in clan doubled and the females became reluctant to be seen with or talk to Mahd in public, although they would often come to see the Elf in private. At first the now old shaman was pleased at the new powers thinking that Mahd might one day make a great shaman and win great Glory for the clan. But he became dismayed when he realized the nature of this powers were different from his own, arcane and Elven. It became worse when the other realized Mahd’s powers and their nature. Many in the clan wanted the Elfling exiled or sacrificed, the Shaman refused for he had faith in his spirit animal and would not dishonor it. However when the Shaman died of old age everything changed. In order to prove himself Mahd had to fight biggest and strongest of the Orcs in single combat for leadership of the clan.
This fight was what every Orc feared and lived for, that fateful day when his battle prowess would determine his future. The odds though were against Mahd as big as he was 6’ and 210 lb, massive
For an Elf he stood no chance against his opponent Grog. Grog was at least 7’ and 310lb and fast too. They had fought a few times in youth and even with armor he could never seems to defeat the big Orc. Refusing to run he accepted the challenge fought Grog with all his might. Mahd caused massive injuries to the huge Orc but Grog just kept coming, no matter how much damage he dealt it was never enough to even slow the enormous Orc. Finally on his knees waiting for the final blow he lash out and the power came and Grog was knock back 15 feet and left unconscious. The others were stunned not knowing what happened, the only thing they could understand was that this was impossible and that Mahd had somehow cheated. So they threw stones at him, chased him out of the village and banish him from the clan.
After losing the man who raised him and being exiled from the tribe he grew up in, Mahd traveled the world searching for a place that could accept him for who and what he is. A place where he could be happy and achieve the glorious destiny envisioned by the old Shaman. Much of his time during his travels was spent expanding and honing his martial and magical skills. Trading on his skill in either to make his living. In his search for acceptance and glory he visited many temples of many different gods. Among his favorites were Nethys, Desna, and Nulgreth.
Ok, we are getting close to the start date, so I would like everyone to begin to post their characters stated out under the avatar they will use. I don't really care too much about an exact format, though I would like everyone to have something that looks sort of like Thaddeus Silverhorn's character above.
Utilizing the Race and Class/Levels section, also please do a sort of quick combat stats portion as well, as that will greatly speed up play.
I'm also going to be opening up the Discussion thread, with a bit more instruction, (some of which has already been done here). Once I have that info from everyone, please use the Discussion thread for any questions you have about the game, off-topic discussion, etc. . .
I'll be opening the Game Play thread soon, too, so that once everyone posts in it, this game will appear under their campaigns tab, and will start to see updates.
A day or two before Nov 1st, I'll go ahead and post the initial portion of the game, and allow everyone to begin a little bit of in-game RP and introductions.
Pathfinder Society Organized play. The information you need should be on that page. Basically, to play PFS (this game being a PFS game), you need to simply sign up. This will give your your PFS#. Then create and register a PFS character. And then you should be ready to go. THere's a free Pathfinder Society Guide pdf which also outlines the rules and character options.

Reposted it in the discussion, but have no idea how to post a character sheet.
Click your name/avatar to go to your profile page.
Click 'Edit your profile'.
Fill in the info. You can view other players' pages for an idea to format how you might like. You could also put a scanned page up though Dropbox or other cloud server, and link it on the page, though having it in plain text on your bio page is very helpful.
For basics in the Bulletin Board Code, see "How to format your text," or check out the BBCode section of the FAQs.
