My resources are pretty much tapped on this run.
I have a Shield, a Magic circle against evil, an Obscuring mist and my cantrips left. The acid wand is useless against babau even at maximum damage, and I can't pierce their DR with a melee attack. :-/

So, in a conversation with some friends about PbP gaming, I realized that we have been together almost 4 years now. I must say that if this isn't a Paizo forum record, it is certainly mine. Thank you!
You're welcome!
That said, <singing>Lefri's gonna die. Lefrik's gonna die!</singing>
Less welcome :P

Let's cross that bridge if we come to it... I'd hate to lose these characters
:( I really would.

Yep, four years and a good game, I like how it evolved from the Golden Goblin to our current situation.
If we do have a PC death it should Kel, so that I can build a useful healer. Maybe she can rush forward to shield Lefrik from the killing blow, I give you free liberty Bigrin. I already have an idea for an elven priest that sees his quest with a dwarf, goblin, human, and half-breed as another challenge from his god.
edit: listed dwarf twice, already getting in character for that Legolas - Gimli rivalry

Lefrik Olegson |

well, if Lefrik dies, he at least had a good run in good company, and really, what more can an Ulfen Warrior ask for? :)
I don't want him to, mind, but if he does then I can make up a replacement.
Kel? If (always if ;) ) that happens, and the rest of the party all lives (And I hope everyone does), if you want me to have the replacement with a bit of healing mixed with frontline to help back up, let me know. At that stage I'd be open to suggestions for folks, though as Calla points out, an elf of some kind would be the most logical replacement.

So to speed things along, let's try to make a decision here about what's next:
Obviously we're slammed in terms of resources and resting would be a huge help. Problem is, I don't know if we have that luxury (whether we try to find a place to hole up in the Echo or return back to the elves). We know they have some of the elves captive and we'd like to try to get them back, plus there's the wizard trying to bring another skyfall down on everyone who could get away if we retreat.
I'm out of bane, but still have one judgment I've been holding on to for the wizard fight (or dragon).
Do we have any resources AB could possibly use as he's out of spells if we keep going? Kelendra, how are you looking? I think you said you were about out of spells? I have a wand that still has 30 charges on it, so we could go forward using that...

Anklebiter the Insane |

I have Dispel magic, extended Magic circle against evil, Obscuring mist and Shield prepped, a wand of Acid arrow and one of Shocking grasp. Apart from that, a bag of vicious caltrops and my quarterstaff... :(

Kelendra Shae |

Kel is all out of spells, but has one spray of shooting stars and three moonlight bridges remaining. If we did press forward too quickly, then we should have the time to rest now, if we can find a place?

Bruendor Cavescouter |

Here's the situation as I see it:
AB and I both need to be soaked on a relatively constant basis, which means we need a source of water before either of us can rest. This means (1) finding a place within the Echo that has water, or (2) someplace that we can use as a tub for us to rest in and have Kel cast enough create water spells to fill it up. Failing either of those two options, we either need (3) Kel to continue casting that on us every ten minutes (which likely means none of the three of us are getting any rest), or (4) retreat to the Crying Leaf basecamp and see about removing the curse on both of us.
I think we can agree Option 3 is a terrible idea, since it means our two full casters aren't getting rest and therefore aren't replenishing spells. Options 1 and 2 revolve around us finding someplace safe to recover within the Echo, a plan fraught with danger, given our current situation. I think it makes the most sense to withdraw and recover with Option 4, personally.

Calumny "Calla" Tas'vere |

I think the one other option is to try to see if we can clear out this building -- which may have only a couple more foes (granted, big ones, but we do still have some resources) -- and rescue the elves and retreat. I don't think there's too much more room here, is there, GM (barring some underground area we may not be aware of)?

Calumny "Calla" Tas'vere |

OK, in the case, definitely not able to continue. I think 4 probably is our best bet, though I worry what it means. I guess -- meta-gaming -- we have to hope the module is accounting for the idea we might need to retreat. :)

Strategy time, ladies and gentlemen!
I assume we'll try for the observatory again.
Which spells should I bring? I aim to take my maximum complement of Summon monster III-spells. I feel quite drawn to at least one casting of Limp lash and as many Ear-piercing shrieks and Magic missiles as I can bring.
Thoughts?

Anklebiter the Insane |

Given that our main concerns would be the dragon and the wizard, this is the spell selection I propose:
0 - Dancing lights, Detect magic, Detect poison, Flare
1 - Ear-piercing shriek x2, Grease, Magic missile x2, Shield*
2 - Knock, Limp lash, Protection from arrows*
3 - Daylight, Dispel magic*, Summon monster III
4 - Magic circle against evil* (Extended), Summon monster III
...
I hope our hostess has some scrolls and things she's willing to part with.

Anklebiter the Insane |

I don't know Summon monster IV. :-/
Given our opposition, I picked an extra Summon over Shout or Phantasmal killer; too hit-or-miss with my limited 4th-level slots.
Speaking of slots, you may notice I seem to have less in 2nd than I should. Limp lash is a Necromancy spell, which is one of my opposition schools. Despite the cost, I hope it will serve us well to weaken our enemies in the coming battle.

Anklebiter the Insane |

Strategy suggestions:
Step #1: Try to get the shadows to help us. Convince them the city is under siege and that there are Elves in the Observatory who must be helped.
(This may fail.)
Step #2: We SNEAK into the observatory, hopefully bypassing the dragon.
If we can find and free the Elves without running into the enemy Wizard, all to the good. Fix them up a bit if we can.
Step #3: Locate enemy Wizard and hit him full power. Propose I open up with a Summon monster III, bringing in spiders to web up opposition, then put Grease under the Wizard. Next round, Calla uses Invisibility on Bruendor and me; we sneak up on the Wizard and hit him with Limp lash and Sneak attacks from behind. Even a single round of Str.-Dex.-Con. diminishment should be useful.
Input?

Bruendor Cavescouter |

I'm not sure how much stealthier we can be than Duchess, and she got et by the dragon. I agree, if (when) we run into the dragon, then we need to try to take it out. And yeah, if we find our allies, we get them up and running. We're in better shape than eight hours ago, but we're still not at 100%.
