Sooo... How we doing this week, DM of Two Smiles? ;)

I was reading Inner Sea Magic, and I think I finally found the answer to Lefrik's request to make him something to keep his mind inviolate from charm- and domination-effects: Inscribe Magical Tattoo.
If I take that feat and get the appropriate spell, I can ink Protection from evil and other protective spells right onti our characters!
What do you guys think?

Male Goblin Wizard 11 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 18 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour), hp 58/77; Fort +6; Ref +6; Will +9

Guys? Hello....?

I think that could certainly be cool as long as the GM is good with it. :)

Right? :)
And just imagine, I could hit us up with all kinds of useful tattoo-spells; Feather fall, Knock... None of them prohibitively expensive, but beastly useful! :D

It does mean no Spell penetration at next level, but I think it'll be worth it to have some contingencies we don't have (time to make) items for. Also, it gives some spells to our non-casters. ;)

Question: I assume spellcasting requires me to show my holy symbol, which means it's probably a no-no unless we plan to kill the driders.

What about bane? I've been "fluffing" it as a simple prayer and there's no real RAW that I'm aware of (considering it's a swift action and has no verbal/somatic requirements I don't think, I assume it's granted without any displays, but it could matter down here).

SFS Signup sheet

You are correct, Calla. Presenting your holy symbol presents a problem for you down here. To preserve your secret, all witnesses must die.

As for bane and other abilities, it doesn't say anywhere that you have to present you symbol to do it. I'd say that you're fine there.

I only hope we don't hit the tipping point for mass extinction before then.

Yes, this is a real fear I have running in the background now. It is not fun. I will not mind if it proven to be unfounded.

I have never been more angry about the results of an election than I was on Wednesday. It has made me resolve to take an active role in dealing with the aftermath of our terrible, terrible mistake. I'll urge you all to do the same, with a level of involvement you're comfortable with.

I do not live in America, but let me know what I can do from Europe.

Dark Archive

Well, let me first start off with this. I'm so sorry for what we're about to inflict upon the rest of the world. I did what I could. :(

After that, I'm not sure. If you have spare money, donate to causes that promote humanist goals - Doctors Without Borders comes to mind, but I'm sure there are local charities that you could assist. Volunteer time with organizations designed to improve social issues for marginalized people. Speak up and out about any bigotry and intolerance you see. Get out the vote for legislators that work to improve the lives of marginalized citizens.

I can't offer anything more specific than that - I'm trying to turn my own slacktivism into actual activism, and that's not even a week old.

Male Goblin Wizard 11 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 18 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour), hp 58/77; Fort +6; Ref +6; Will +9

There is something else. An American friend of mine told me she plans to "Write to three anti-Trump Senators to see if they will go Independent and flip the Senate to the Democrats."

Is that an option for you guys?
(I am very bad at politics, so pardon me if I'm gibbering nonsense now.)

Dark Archive

Quick American civics lesson! The US Congress has two houses - the House of Representatives and the Senate. Back at the founding, there were two factions at loggerheads. The more populous states wanted to base representation on population, since any legislation passed by the body would affect a larger majority of people in their state. The less populous states wanted a set number of people to represent each state to avoid the tyranny of majority. There was a lot of debate, and it led to several unfortunate decisions (such as the 3/5ths Compromise), but ultimately gave us a bicameral legislative body. The House sets its numbers based upon population, and currently has 435 representatives. The Senate has two senators per state, for a total of 100.

Voting in the Senate is tricky, since a party in the minority can filibuster indefinitely, unless at least 60 senators agree to hold a vote on a bill. There's occasionally talk of removing the filibuster as a weapon/tool by the majority party, but it rarely goes anywhere for the simple reason that today's majority party could and will eventually be tomorrow's minority party. Right now, the Republicans will control 54 seats in the Senate, compared to the 44 Democrats and 2 independent senators (who almost always vote with the Democrats, anyway). In order for the Senate to flip, at least four Republicans would have to go independent and consistently vote with the Democrats just to tie. Unfortunately, at that point, the Vice President gets to do his one job in the Constitution, which is to break ties, so we're right back to Trump getting what he wants. In order for the senate to reliably flip, we would need at least five senators to go from red to purple.

So, yeah, unlikely, especially since there's little reason to do so yet. The Republicans won big on Tuesday, on an election where there was every popular indication that they were going to be sinking with Trump as a lodestone around their necks. They rode his coattails into office. What political benefit is there to switching teams now?

Dark Archive

All that said, I wouldn't tell your American friend to stop. It's probably ultimately futile, but nothing will happen if she doesn't.

(Hell, I signed an online petition to motivate electoral delegates to vote Clinton instead of Trump as the Constitution allows, knowing full well it would be political suicide at best and possibly an ignition switch for an actual war if there was a chance in Hell it could happen. I think the odds that the delegates will not vote Trump is about as likely as the moon suddenly deciding to stop its geosynchronous orbit and fly off to Mars for lunar companionship, but we all do what we must in order to cope.)

So frustrating; we do everything we can to prepare to have good success and it just won't give me any rolls. I mean each roll just got worse and took away 67 potential points of damage.

My rolls on the last page of posts: 5, 3, 1, 15, 17, 2, 4, 9, 7, 17, 8, 13, 18, 7, 19,

I'm surprised that it's only nine in single digits compared with six in double digits, an average of 9.6 (which is only 1 point below what the average should be).

I can't blame her right now.

No joke, that is Exactly my background. I use Agisoft photoscan for 3D modeling (after selecting them over Pix4D), I have a degree in geography with an emphasis in cartography and GIS, I served as chief analytics officer for a drone company in my last job, and I would be more than happy to help. Last week I built a 3D model of barn under construction here in Oregon. Let's talk...
