Molok Granite Fist |
Sitting by the metal door, Molok examines his "storm" gem to see if the weather will be getting better or worse.
Hearing Vaneros complaining about staying the night, and his need for more warmth, Molok pulls his bedroll from his pack and tosses it towards the Warlock.
"Here. This should keep you warm. Two layers of mountain sheep fleece and tight knit wool. The cold does not bother me."

Cade looks at the skeletal remains in the coffin, most of the interior had long rotted away leaving mostly only a stone box, rusted breastplate and a skeletal of a body.
Vaneros comes over and inspects the breastplate but it is rusted beyond repair and the sword that was once there layed broken on the floor where Ember had broken it.
Kenna mumbled a few words and a tiny golden globe appeared before her fpr just a few seconds signalling clear skies for the next 24 hours. Looking out the tomb door the rain was already stopping and a break of blue skies could be seen in the clouds.
Molok examined his storm gem and the bright yellow glow was quickly fading away and the dull yellow color of the gem was returning.

I could sleep here. Why walk twice, that is of course if Kenna needs a true bed to rest in I would be happy to make the trip. I am sure there is a way to get a fire going in here, and dry wood should not be a problem. Something like 'look for the dead trees that still stand, that wood is still dry', that is was my old crew use to say if we they needed to go on an island for supplies.
Keaton shows a little of his true colors, he is lazy.

It seemed that the adventurers had come to a point where they needed to vote on a course of action. It was currently 3:49pm in the afternoon and if they headed back to Red Larch now they could be back by around 7:30pm which meant they would be back before full night had set in.
If they decided to head out for the spot with the skull and tree then it would mean travel in the hills after night had fallen before they could arrive and then finding camp which would probably be very dangerous if the rumors of the hills at night were accurate.
Or they could camp here and wait for sun up tomorrow before adventuring further.
The choice was theirs to make.
Group Vote:
1. Leave for Red Larch now.
2. Head for the skull tree now.
3. Camp in the tomb.
Everyone please vote.

" I'm sorry everyone, I just thought as the skull tree was so close, but I also don't want to delay investigating Lance Rock. I'll vote to head back to Red Larch as well. "
Kenna Icemane |
Kenna looks visibly insulted, she is about to protest, but then calms down "Fine, let's go back. But I would ask everyone to get some outdoor equipment, so we can move out of town further than half a day's walk."
Keaton Larroquette |
Sure.
Keaton says with a small passive shrug, looking slightly upset about all the extra physical laborish walking.
Narnel Falerathon |
Narnel, awakened from his brief respite, smiles at Kenna.
I would be fine spending the night anywhere, but if forced to weigh in, I agree that returning to town may benefit everyone.
Narnel stands and approaches Kenna.
Next time. I do not doubt your abilities to provide through nature's bounty.
Molok Granite Fist |
Molok looks at the others and shrugs.
"Humans are a soft people, but I will not stand in the way of your decision. Let us return so you may gather your luxuries before we investigate this skull and rock. "
Keaton Larroquette |
Do we want to bring back the dead ogre-kin and goblin? There may be a bounty? I can do the disk again and it would not hinder us too much.
Keaton is ready to go.
If the group decides to take the oogre-kin and goblin he will cast Tenser's Floating Disk much like how we brought the bandits to town.
Kenna Icemane |
"We might as well try. At worst we will return them to the elements outside of town if there is no bounty."
DM Asmodeus |
Location: Red Larch
With everyone in agreement to head back to Red Larch the group gathered up the withered body of the goblin and the body of the fallen half-ogre and Keaton conjured two of the disk over the next twenty minutes. One for Kenna and one for the two bodies and the group began to make the return trip.
The trip was uneventful and took a total of about four hours stopping to create the disk when necessary. Once they got to the edge of town they saw freshly dug graves in the cemetery. Obviously the constable and his men had buried the bandits that the group had brought back the day before.
It was about 7:49pm when the group arrived, most all the shops were already closed for the evening, it was dark and not a lot of people were about which was probably a good thing considering the two creatures bodies that the group carried on the disk.
Ok, so you have arrived back in Red Larch. You need to figure out something to do with the bodies and anything else you want to do at this time. When you are ready for the night to pass then just let me know that you are done and we will move forward once everyone is ready. Make sure to pay for your room if you have not already paid for the additional night.

" Perhaps ears would be enough to collect on any bounties? I don't think it looks good bringing bodies back to town. "
When we arrive back at Red Larch Ember splits from the party.
" I'm going to track down Minthra Mhandyvver and Pell, I'll meet you back at the Inn later. "
It's late but Ember heads to the Mhandyvver poultry shop to see if anyone is there.
Keaton Larroquette |
Seeing the open fresh dug Graves Keaton brings the disks there. He evidently is too tired to care and unsummons the disks near the new graves, trying to have some respect for the dead he positions them so they do not look like they were just tossed about. Writes in the dirt next to the newly delivered dead, "will talk to constable tomorrow."
He then returns to the inn has a few drinks, a meal, and pays for his room. He will inquire to the inn keep (forget her name) about any troubles with ogre-kin and goblin bandits.
In the morning he will go to the constable to let them know what they killed and left it.
Not sure if you want to RP this out, anyone else want to join me seeing the constable? Also want to see the all faiths shrine about the new dead. Also, Kenna should ride on one of the disk and get half a long rest in.
Narnel Falerathon |
Narnel returns to the Inn, and he speaks to Keaton after helping him dispose of the bodies.
I will join you in the morning to visit the constable. We may also want to stop by and inform the old woman that her daughter is not insane.
Keaton Larroquette |
To Narnel.
The crone, nha, you can if you want to. I have no interest in tracking down the old bag or that kid. Pretty sure we are making a stir around this small town and they should hear about it soon enough. Want a beer, I'm buying.
Keaton will spend two gold for his meal, a portion of the shared room, and drinks for himself and others in the group (up to two gold's worth total).
Narnel Falerathon |
Sure, I will gladly have a cold brew with you, Keaton.
Narnel has a draught with Keaton and shares a meal with the group before heading off to bed.
DM Asmodeus |
Location: Red Larch
The group finds most things closed up upon their return to Red Larch so they all eventually end up at the inn and have a drink or two and arise the next morning to face the new day. They informed the constable of the newly deceased creatures but the constable and his men are not to fond of actually digging graves for the bodies or even having them buried in town so he advises the group to either dig unmarked graves for them if they wished to bury them or to dispose of them in some other way and to not be hauling bodies of such creatures through town scaring the towns folk. So the group spends a few hours of the morning digging graves and putting the creatures to rest.
Afterwords Kenna buys the items she wants at Vallivoe's sundries. A two-person tent and some firewood.
Tired from the morning work the group regathers at the inn to plan out the rest of their day.
If you shared a bunk room at the inn the cost is 1 electrum per character. If you have a private room it is 1 gold.
The group may also want to send someone somewhere this morning if you wish to sell the jewelry from the tomb.
You found Mhandyvver poultry shop closed the night before, you can try again this morning if you like.
Two-Person Tent is 2 gold and takes up 4 encumbrance slots wherever you store it.
Firewood is 1 copper per day of wood and takes up 4 encumbrance slots per day of wood.
Everyone benefits from a long rest and all spell slots and missing hitpoints are returned.
Kenna has another level of exhaustion removed so she now only has disadvantage on ability checks. Her movement is no longer slowed.
Vaneros has +4 temporary hitpoints.
Keaton has a blessed dagger.
Kenna has one level of exhaustion from the traumatizing injury.

Narnel will pay for the shared room at 1 EP before heading up to bed. In the morning, he awaits the arrival of Keaton to stop at the constable.
Kenna Icemane |
"I have a tent for two people and firewood worth two days now, I'd keep that for days when we can't find good firewood in the outdoors, like on rainy days. I can get around much better too, it still hurts a little but I'm good to go. It'll be good to walk on my own again."
Keaton Larroquette |
@ Narnel, think we are getting a pass with having to track down the constable as he already spoke with us and made us dig graves.
While digging the graves, Keaton is unusually silent, but breaks his silence in a serious tone uncharacteristically void of mirth.
I don't want to put them in, just not yet. I mean, dig the holes of course but do not put the bodies in the ground yet. I am going to ask the priests if they need to bless them or whatever. Not sure how ogre souls work.
I will go there first thing tomorrow and let them know. If this ever becomes me getting put in a hole, I don't know, just give me this kind of dignity in death.
Keaton will go to the all faith shrine in the morning. He will explain what his group did, and add that he did really try to take them captive without murdering them. Keaton will give the clerics two silver pieces for their time, letting him clear his conscious, and if they plan to service the ogre and goblin corpses they can use that money for supplies.
DM Asmodeus |
@ Keaton.
The clergy is thankful for your coin and gives you a small beaded necklace to place on each corpse and explains to you that while they don't give service over such creatures the blessed grave necklace should help them find rest on their journey to wherever they may be going in death.
As you head back to the grave site you examine the necklaces and realize they are wooden shaped beads that had been placed on a simple string coil. Each bead had a different religious symbol on them that corresponded to some faiths that you recognized and some that you did not.
Keaton Larroquette |
Against his nature Keaton returns to the graves and finishes the job alone, applying the religious necklaces.
Ember Draymon |
In the evening Ember speaks to Kaylessa about putting down a few gold pieces to cover her expenses for a few days.

As Ember makes her way over to Mhandyvver's Poultry this morning she can see the following:
This wooden building grew haphazardly for many years, shooting out single-story wings and annexes untidily in all directions. The interior looks like a barn or attic, with exposed beams and posts. Pens with live chickens fill most of the odd corners and halls of the building, leaving only a narrow aisle down to the back, where the Mhandyvvers live. Their rooms are separated from the chicken pens by a workroom with cutting benches and a central hearth.
Mhandyvver’s is the less impressive of the two local poulterers, but is a favorite with Red Larchers. Kindly old Minthra “Minny” Mhandyvver and her three grown children sell chickens live or roasted and preserved in oil, pickled chicken livers, and eggs both fresh and pickled form this establishment.
As Ember makes her way down the narrow hall with the chicken pens to the common room which served as a workroom where chickens were being cut up, cooked, grilled, fried, boiled and a small makeshift counter was set up with Minny sitting on a stool behind it. As Ember approached the old woman stood and asked simply "How..... can we.... be of service.... to you today?"

She then motions for one of her sons to get something from the counter. He comes over and presents you with a half dozen roasted chickens from this mornings batch.

After paying for his room, Vaneros goes with Kenna to get some equipment. He buys another blanket and stuffs it into his backpack. It is there that he finds the pry bar again he was carrying for the group. As the step outside he asks Kenna if they could let the mule carry it.
After that, he makes his way over to Vallivoe's to let him have a look at what they'd found at the haunted tomb. He is up-front about where the valuables are coming from: "I don't like taking from the dead. But with the grave uncovered and the spectre gone, it would have been only a matter of time before someone took the silver. If I had any lead, I'd try to take this back to the descendants. But as things are, I don't think there is anything I could do."
I would be encumbered if I were to carry the additional blanket and the pry bar. Can we store the pry bar on the mule?

As Vaneros looks around the inn to purchase food this morning an announcement is made by Kaylessa as she writes on the chalkboard beside the counter.

"For those of you who are new to Red Larch, Crumblecake is a local specialty. The cake includes baked loaves of turkey and wildfowl scraps, nuts, and chopped roots and greens, mixed in a chickpea mash. It is great on the trail and for the low cost of one electrum coin it is great on the pocket as well." she says with a smile.
Crumblecake counts as a days ration and stacks like them using the 1/5 slot the same as a ration. Crumblecake is bland at best and horrible if not made correctly but is great for the road.
