Well if you change your mind, just DM him and let him know; I'm sure he'd take you, GM Nayr is a legit nice guy. Nayr's games are pretty leisurely (i.e. slow), but he does stick around; I've been in his games since March 2016. In our CC game we just barely hit level 5, close to the same level as your dhamphir monk.

Kynes with two consecutive saves the poison is "cured", so you can save the inspiration points you used for the third.

Moving day is tomorrow! It should just take us the weekend to make the trip (at a casual pace, even), but if I miss posting over the next little bit it's because I'm a tiny bit distracted. What with the new city and new job and all. ;)

That sense motive DC.
I'd have to roll a 18-20 and a 4-6, respectively using an inspired dc check roll... 2.5% chance, as calculated using anydice.com. lol nope.

I may have had an ooc brain fart: didn't Glorio have a sister who built this labyrinth? Or was it a cousin? Whomever it was, please assume that's whom Talfryn referred to.
Garvid Krein
Thanks, guys! I was writing something else entirely, and then I read about the guy being just a guard, erased everything and got angry!
I think Meliya (spelling?) is the sister, Vimanda was just the first Arkona named on our radar, and we still have her dagger. *wink*

I read half of volume one of Death March last night. What a fun page-turner. Lord Talfryn Blackoak has a real talent, especially in compelling action writing. The first encounter with the ogres was visceral! The lit rpg element IS a lot of fun...I keep waiting for the upgrades.
Those praises said, I must confess I totally misunderstood the series concept. When it was described at lit rpg, I misunderstood lit rpg to mean interactive fiction, like this cool series: Middle-earth Quest

Despite a Ph.D. and all the writing that it comes with, I never really learned grammar formally. I ignored grammar in highschool and my one college class with grammar, I was distracted by a girlfriend who/whom was taking the class with me. :)
A recent meta-analysis of cerebral volume differences in ASD (9) found evidence for an age-related reduction in cerebral overgrowth in ASD, but also evidence of systematic sampling biases against older individuals with increased head and brain size–– individuals whom more frequently present with lower-functioning ASD and whom may be less compliant with MR imaging protocols.
So am I using whom correctly? I suspect not.
Every time I am sure whom is right, who is right; certainly not me.

Thanks.
I think I figured it out. Use whom with a preposition (I had to look that up too), so anywhere a cat can go! up down to over under etc
with whom
for whom
under whom
over whom
beside whom

In your first example, "a girlfriend with whom I was taking the class" would be correct, I think. "Who" is used when the person is the subject, "whom" is used when they are the object of a verb or preposition.
She was taking the class with me => A friend who was taking the class with me.
I was taking the class with her => A friend with whom I was taking the class.

I think if Meliya (or Vimanda, if my guess is correct) submits to being disarmed and bound, we can continue. Garvid will insist, if she doesn't, though, given the list of crimes above, so it's either continuing or fighting now, entirely depending on her (and she undoubtedly knows it).

Do we get any kind of save to keep Meliya from reading our thoughts?
I'm glad that there's people that are good with the grammar and such in our group that can help you Kynes because that isn't me. I'm definitely not good with the grammar. That's probably why I'm a molecular biologist :) You don't need to wax eloquent in my field.
The Wicked GM
I can't say too much without meta gaming. Generally, you would have a save when your thoughts are being read. Where appropriate for this encounter, I would have made it for you.
Garvid Krein
That was a really strange encounter, but a lot of fun playing the detective. I only started looking at what I assume would've been Garvid's notes and his memories on the matter, and he trusts his journal more than he trusts himself.
Speaking of that, I can imagine Garvid sharing his notes with Kynes later on.
I think Meliya will be bound as Garvid described, hands behind her back and the manacles themselves tied with about 20ft of rope coiled on a hook on Garvid's belt, so that he can give her as much or as little slack as he needs to.
I also added how I could realistically imagine Garvid's Spell Sunder would work, and ideally, dispelled both effects on Li and Talfryn, unless the caster was way above our paygrade.
The Wicked GM
Garvid's really shining in that role here, isn't he? To be fair, I'm sure it's taken a good chunk of your time to go back and carefully read everything to try to piece things together.
Researching for this part of the book, it was fun to read how other groups interact with Glorio and Meliya. And it's been really fun to see this group's reactions so far. I'm very excited to see how this shakes out, myself.
Garvid Krein
I gotta say, as a fan of cop shows, I'm having a blast slamming the evidence on the table!
Actually, though, I don't think I have things pieced together as well as I think. I'm still not sure why Meliya would call herself Vimanda when talking to Vancaskerkin, and that damned dagger is still a mystery. Thought for a moment that it was the third eye, actually, but then I discarded that idea when she said she's reading our minds.
End of the day, though, she confessed to being complicit in the whole affair, and that's really all Garvid needs to want her bound and chained.

Happy holidays to all!

Woo! I've been off work for two weeks and took a little mental health vacation from the computer. It felt fabulous.
But, Korvosa is burning.
I returned to the office today so expect the game to resume in the next day or two.
Norelia "Li"
Would you allow Li to give a stealth roll to stick along the wall and hide behind the others in order to have a chance at sniping the darksphinx? I'm thinking sneak attack damage would be helpful at this point. Just wasn't sure if you'd allow it.
The Wicked GM
You attack before Sivit, meaning she is flat footed. You get sneak attack damage regardless.
Norelia "Li"
Well that was a waste of my sneak attack. That brings me back to my question about sniping. Am I allowed to make a stealth check to try to go unnoticed by Sivit so she can do sneak attack damage?
Garvid Krein
Heh. Sorry about my absense for the past couple of days, was pretty busy.
There's not really that much point in casting Stoneskin on Garvid, as that would only bring his DR 7 to 10, but it's amazing for Mouse and her higher AC. Also, once he starts Raging, the Superstitious basically makes him pretty hard to be buffed. It's why I (will) try and play a little more defensively on my first turn.
Li, I might pick up Savage Dirty Trick for my next Power, so there'll be a lot more blinded enemies you can sneak attack!
