I'm having problems updating the profile for this PC. It's still showing the original profile, but when I go in and change it, the changes are there, but, it's not updating. Or it will switch profiles with a different PC.
Anyone know how to fix this?
Drazzel the Magnificent |
I copied his character info from my notepad, deleted his info in the "About" section, pasted the info from notepad, then hit "submit changes". Old profile is still showing up.
Even certain words aren't showing up. I have "slashing" in the dice expression for his steak knife but it shows up blank. I've also been trying to change "Steak knife" to "butcher knife" but changes won't save.
This is the same PC that randomly switches profiles with Redd Appleblossom.
Who do I email to get this fixed?

Agreed I sometimes have to try it a few times as well as refresh several times. Try clearing cookies as Pirate Rob suggested.
PaleDim |
Loging out of paizo, cleaning cookies and logging back in is a more extreme solution but I understand fixes the unable to load the front page bug and might help here.
Before that I'd triple check and make sure your paste really says what you expect it says.
Temporarily, then it came back for me. The situation always eventually degrades for me (amazing that client-side data, defined by the Paizo website, can reliably cause server side errors :/).

One time, I updated a character, and not only did it update that character, but it overwrote one of my other characters as well, kind of like Agent Smith from the Matrix movies.
Because of the Law of Conservation of Character Updates, sometimes the Paizo site has to not update characters at all, to balance everything out.

Has anyone else been experiencing massive burnout lately?
I've been experiencing burnout most of this year due to being a retail essential worker in a pandemic with little sign of relief.
I know of other people who have either had their jobs reduced or eliminated by the pandemic who are trying to find something, anything to pay the bills -- that can definitely cut into play time.
The biggest culprit for burnout, though, is too many adventures going at the same time. I've really had to prune back because I just couldn't keep up with them or do them justice.
Grandmaster TOZ |
I definitely took on too many at once. Trying to pare down to manageable levels.

There is definitely burnout among all with the amount of online games and conventions all going on.
Please take care of yourselves, especially during these holiday and stressful times. Keep the game fun and hunt the good things.
Just a few tips and I am sure many more folks will have more. :) We love gaming with all of you guys, no need to push yourselves to far while we have this extra time at home.
Happy Holidays all! Hope you each have a great time

Joining PbP games is like eating at Taco Bell. Eat until you're not hungry, and you'll be happy. Eat until you're full, and you'll regret it later.
The problem is if you are a completionist and you don't live anywhere near Pathfinder society games, then you have to join as many as possible to play them all. Even with Covid as a factor this year and being able to play games on Roll20 now, I'm only about 3/4 of the way completed for all games Starfinder and Pathfinder2.o.
And 4 scenarios each month puts you way behind if you can only play play by post. 2 Pathfinder 2.o games and 2 starfinder games. This doesn't include adventure paths and stuff.GM Blake |

No. You don't.
It is not a strategy for PbP that I would advise to anyone.

I have been playing PFS1E since 2012.
I have 9 scenarios left to play.
I have 12 scenarios left to GM.
I am a completionist and I feel no need to rush into this.
(This also does not include modules and APs, while obviously 2E is an entirely separate thing.)

+1000 to this.
You should play in only as many games as you can handle, so that you can keep up a solid posting rate with quality posts.
Everyone will have their personal limits, and it might take time to learn them.
But be honest with yourself, and with your GM and other players. Otherwise you risk making the play-by-post experience sub-optimal for you, the other players, and the GM.
Tyranius |
Completely agree w/ Silbeg and Blake.
Being a completionist is not about speed running. Everything takes time and patience. Just posting roll-playing and not role-playing takes away from the experience and game for the rest of the table. Play a game or two at a time for best experiences.

Heyo all, finally got around to slapping together my first 2e character and was wanting to know if anyone could give it a look over. Pretty sure I did everything right but, new edition(for me) and all that jazz so i'd feel better with a more experienced set of eyes on it.
Anyone up for checking out my Gobbo, who is up until this post nameless?

I didn't mean for someone to take it like, speed play and just roll play. But now that you put it in prospective, someone may have took it like that. I was going more down the lines of you don't know how long you are going to live, so complete your bucket list, a thought I've had even before Covid-19 existed, and I don't have any known preexisting condition either.

Greetings! Happy to take a look!
Optional flaw looks like it was done right since you double flawed CHA when CHA was boosted during ancestry.
Skills: You're trained in crafting+3+your INT modifier. Perception does not get included in this (you are trained by your class).
You also get Engineering Lore from your background so that also doesn't count towards your other skills.
Lastly, I don't think you've chosen your Pathfinder Training which gives you a choice between a few Lore skills)
So you should have:
(int)Crafting:+7 (from class)
(int)Engineering Lore:+7 (from background)
(int)Society:+7
(int)Underworld Lore:+7
(int)Legal Lore:+7
(int)Genealogy Lore:+7
(dex)Stealth:+6
(dex)Thievery:+6
ANY SKILL
ANOTHER LORE SKILL (from pathfinder training)
If you're looking for suggestions I'd consider Athletics or Acrobatics. These are frequently used skills for skill challenges and not having either can put you in a rough spot at times. Other skills to consider would be one of the other INT-based skills like Arcana/Occultism. You may not have plans to use those necessarily but they would also be valuable in skill challenges.
If you have plans to go field-commissioned then you'd be able to get Underworld Lore from that (pathfinder training), and then would be able to take 2 of Arcana, Occultism, Athletics, or Acrobatics. That is probably the route I'd go, though this is obviously just my opinion.
Your AC with 16 Dex and Studded Leather is 18, not 17. (10 +3dex +3proficiency, +2 item)
Saves/Perception look good
Didnt see any other glaring issues though I didn't look at items/weapons (short on time). I see you're at 6.3 bulk, just wanted to check if you are using the backpack to reduce bulk by 2?
Let us know if you have questions!

I can say, from experience, if you are looking for a copy/paste pbp run through of repeatables, DoubleGold is your DM.

Thanks for the tips and such, I went and did a bit of changing around and made note of where I got certain things(skills mostly). Am I right to assume that things that hold up to (X Bulk) negate that weight I haven't taken that into account for all of my things except the backpack since you said it negates 2 bulk, not seeing that in the item description but i'll take your word for it since that makes sense with weight distribution. Do you negate weight of things you wear like armor or does it simply weigh more bulk when carried and is the stated value when worn? Other than that I believe i've got everything fixed up.

The backpack is the only mundane item that I am aware of that negates bulk (and it only negates the bulk of things in the backpack).
Armor bulk applies both worn and carried.

The backpack description was changed as part of errata. You can find the errata on the product page. The description has also been updated on Archives of Nethys, which is the official online rules resource.

Azil wrote:Ah Thank ya both, didn't realize the Errata wasn't included in the SRD outside of Nethys. Think everything is good to go now though.Uhh Nethys is the SRD.
When I googled for the 2e srd it wasn't the first thing to pop up instead it was what my old group referred to as SRD, blue pages. But know that I know that Nethys is SRD then i'll use that.

AoN is the official one, but there are a few others that are online and have better SEO than Paizo and AoN. As a result, weirdness happens, like old PF1 pages ranking higher than new PF2 pages, and other SRDs ranking higher than the official one.
Even within aonprd.com, you still have to be careful. AoN's 2E SRD is at 2e.aonprd.com, I think the 1E is legacy.aonprd.com - just double check the domain before you click.
I've noticed AoN's 2E links bubbling up to the top in the past few months, so hopefully it's just a matter of time until this gets sorted.

1e is just aonprd.com (with exhaustive info from all 1e books). legacy.aonprd.com is just a copy of the old non-AoN SRD before AoN took over, and is missing a fair amount of content.

Hoping to get in to the special in Outpost IV.

I was finally able to edit this PC's profile. I figured out that if you have (well, me in this case) [ooc] expressions in the text formatting box, it throws things off. I deleted all of those expressions and can now edit and save normally.

Here is the information concerning the outage today and not being able to sign into Paizo. They appear to be back up now, but you have to go into your settings and manually delete you cookies associated with Paizo first to be able to sign in. (May take several attempts. Mine took deleting the cookies three times before it stuck.
If anyone needs assistance or questions I am on Discord (Tyranius#2300)

Question: Arcane or Primal archer? Not interested in Eldritch archer, just wizard or Druid I'm a Dwarf, so I get wisdom, Druid allows me to have better off stats like Strength, but as far as spells go, hmm. The idea is utility spells to help my shots since I'd be grabbing the min stat to take the archetype. I'm only comparing the first five spell levels that would help the shots. Any spells I overlooked? Also as you cannot predict what teammates you will have as far as classes and races, these spells do not take into account who is on your team, some of these spells may actually hinder your teammates.
Spells:
Level 1
Fleet Step: Faster speed equals way better position. Arcane and Primal
Grease: Keeps the enemies away from you. Arcane and Primal
Magic Weapon: Useless once you have a magic weapon. Arcane
Tether: Keep an enemy where you want them, problem is saving throw will be easy. Arcane and Primal
Jump: Slight better Positioning: Arcane and Primal.
True Strike: This means accuracy. But fighters have exacting strike and can pick up another feat at level 8 to increase accuracy. Arcane
Phantom Steed: Horseback archery anyone? Meh. Arcane and Primal.
Level 2:
Blur: Makes me harder to hit as enemy archers target me. Arcane
Darkness: Block a few enemies vision, keep certain ones out of darkness and certain ones in. Arcane and Primal.
Mirror Image: Be harder to hit while sniping: Arcane
Invisibility: Last until I attack, but effectively the next shot will make the enemy flat footed: Arcane. Heightened version is much better.
Shrink: Now I can use a rock as cover while I shoot. Arcane and Primal.
Water Walk and Spider Climb: Better positioning, though spider climb slightly more useful: Arcane and Primal
Web: Slows them down: Arcane and Primal
Level 3:
Earthbind: Fighters do get an ability at a later level to ground a flier, so this is pointless. Arcane and Primal
Gravity Well: Now I have the enemies right where I want them, but only last one round. Arcane and Primal.
Levitate: Slight better positioning: Arcane
Haste: More attacks. Arcane and Primal.
Paralyze and Slow: The saving throw would be easy with a stat of 14 and only ever being trained.
Wall of Wind: This does very little and darn I can't shoot through it. I can shape it Arcane and Primal
Wall of Thorns: Keeps enemies out, sort of. Image being on high ground and the majority of enemies are melee, or they are coming at you from the right and left side, so you block one side. Primal
Level 4:
Air Walk: Now melee enemies can't reach you at all, just flier and archers. Primal
Fly: Has the same speed, duration and casting actions as air walk. Am I missing something here? Primal and Arcane.
Solid Fog: Enemies can't see and difficult terrain. Arcane and Primal
Wall of Fire. A much better wall to keep enemies out. Arcane and Primal.
Dimension Door. Be far away from your enemies when they get to close. Most useful outdoors. Arcane
Level 5:
Prismatic Wall: Keep enemies out. Arcane
Ice Wall and Stone Wall: Definitely keeps enemies out. Arcane and Primal.
Warah |

You can take a 5' step with Air Walk, but apparently not while Flying. My aerokineticist took some heavy hits while flying during a cavern fight because she couldn't stay far enough away to avoid triggering attacks of opportunity. Also, you may have to meet DCs to do certain things while flying (Hover=DC 15, 180 degree turn=DC 20, etc.), but not while Air Walking.
