"Perhaps all of us need to give it a coin specifically?" Giltman gives it a coin as well.

![]() |

Miyako also takes a gold coin from her pouch and places it in the maw.
"Sharaheen, do you have gold with you?"

![]() |

"This is stupid. I should starts such a scam in Absolom." Elska pouts but draws two gold coins from her belt pouch and deposits them into the door. "...and one for Nuk..."

![]() |

As you add your tributes, there is a great click and the iron doors swing inwards.
Broad steps descend into a large hall. Between two smoking braziers looms a red-veined marble statue of a humanoid with three eyes and jagged tusks, its twisted claws clutching a naginata. Beyond, two sets of stairs flank a tapestry depicting a titanic struggle between the same fiendish menace and a jade-clad warrior. Along the pagoda’s eastern arc, several burlap sacks slump haphazardly, while near the western curve squats a hefty, straw-lined cage.
Two headless golems identical to the dead ones outside seem to be carrying burlaps sacks around.

"Well then, might as well get to it." Elska draws a wand and casts gravity bow on her darkwood composite longbow.

They seem to pay no mind to the opened door, and are going about there business.
Let me know if you would like to enter.

![]() |

"I'll go first..."
Miyako goes total defense and moves inside.

![]() |

Bo, fists at the ready will follow "Right behind ya, Miya"

![]() |

Miyako and Beauregard enter the pagoda. The headless golems continue about there business.

![]() |

"Nuk, VERJA!" Elska points at Miyako.
"Bo, Miyako, I'll cover you. Take a look around." Elska nocks an adamantine durable arrow and watches intently for any threats to her friends.

Giltman follows the others in, ready to use his new adamantine light hammer on the golems if necessary.

![]() |

Mido moes into the PAgoda alongside his companions wary but not willing to attack servants doing their duties.
These Golemns appear peaceful workers. Their instructions might not include violence. If we can we should avoid confrontation...

![]() |

As you all enter, Sharaheen follows falling in behind Giltman ahead of Kelson. The golems continue to go about there business, one of them moves behind the tapestry with it's burlap sack.
Elska scans the area noting that the statue’s naginata appears to be real and only painted to resemble marble.

![]() |

"Bo, see if you can grab that sword from the statue. I think it is a real sword." Elska continues to ready her bow and steps into the room.

![]() |

Bo will move over to the statue, sizing up the naginata and then pull out a potion of Enlarge Person.
"I'll grab that naginata in a second, let me get big first,"

![]() |

Despite the map depiction, the scenario lists the weapon as medium size...if that makes any difference, feel free to retcon.
Beauregard moves to the statue and enlarges... the golems continue to ignore you.

![]() |

Oh it would, the thing looks massive, I'll just move up and pull the naginata out of the statue if that's possible?

![]() |

Yeah, I'm looking at the map and then reading the text, it clearly intends it to be medium...lol.
Beauregard approaches the statue and removes the naginata. It slides easily from the statue.

![]() |

"Giltman, what's in those bags? Mido, can you check out the cage?"
Still watching.
Those headless statues are creepy. I want to get out of this place.

Mido carefully approaches the cage and examines it.
Hmm let's see what have we here.

Bo will swing his new naginata around wishing he was proficient in it but for the moment not even wielding it because of the Tekko-Kagi in his off hand.
"Is this thing even magical?" He'll ask the group, at this point completely uncaring of the two lumbering behemoths.

![]() |

Master Mido approaches the cage, he finds it is unlocked, and other than straw doesn't seem to contain anything else.
The naginata blade feels good in Beauregard's hand, nicely balanced a fine weapon.

![]() |

Giltman will go check out one of the bags to see what's in it.

Kelson casts detect magic toward Beauregard, Bo lights up with many magical auras, to include the new naginata he holds. The aura seems stronger than Kelson is used to seeing, it's safe to say it is beyond the level of enhancement he normally sees.

Miyako, still wary of the golems, moves up to the tapestry and takes a peek behind it.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

As Miyako approaches the tapestry she gets a better look at the interesting scene it portrays.
In the first panel, someone who is clearly Fumeiyoshi is shown sundering a piece of jade armor off another combatant. Then, the Lord of Envy gloats over the fallen figure with the shard of jade held high, while in the final panel, Fumeiyoshi thrusts the shard into an arcane circle where it crumbles to dust, activating a nearby portal in a graveyard.
Peeking behind the tapestry, Miyako finds the golems hard at work. A gigantic cylinder nearly fills this alcove and emits the rancid smell of fermented rice. A large pipe ascends from the machinery, carrying the pungent fluid away from the distillation apparatus before disappearing into the stone tiles above. The golems are dumping bags of rice into the contraption.
This machine’s purpose is creating rice vinegar.

She then searches the cage with Mido.

Swinging this naginata around a bit, getting a feel for it, Bo will lay it up against the statue and take his Tekko-Kagi off, stowing it in his backpack, gently wrapping it in cloth.
"Yeah, it feels good in my hands, just wish I knew how to use it!" Chuckling, he'll begin investigating the staircase, poking his up the stairs, careful to not lose it.

![]() |

Elska casts detect magic across the room, other than yourselves and the various items you carry nothing seems to be magical. The golems finish there dumping the rice into the machine and move out from behind the curtain, and move toward the rice sacks. Elska joins Master Mido at the cage and notices a hidden switch allowing anyone locked within to open the door from the inside. An odd feature.
As Beauregard begins to climb the stairs the golems suddenly become aggressive and move toward him to prevent his ascent. But Bo was ready for it and reacts first, along with the watchful mammut.
