Eli bought all the mules we needed (as was mentioned to me on the board). He wouldn't have bought a "spare" (or had you buy one) to trail along too, I don't believe. It's just another mule to take care of unnecessarily. Just my two cents.

Addendum: Arabeth, why would there be a spare mule? This relates to your current OOC in your most recent posting... Natanja honestly wouldn't be looking after your pack animal ... She has better things to do and think of. The mules in our group are currently be ridden on ...

Interesting.

Though, should a mule be a riding mount? Can it then also carry equipment? Not being an equestrian type of person, I have no idea as to how much 'boot' space an animal might have. I thought it was either riding OR equipment? Not both? I bought a mule to carry the large items. The blankets, bedding, tents, large camping utensils... Have I over thought the process?

Well, if you bought a mule to carry your equipment, then it is your responsibility and it should be tied to your horse and following behind you.

The rest of us had the option of either buying a horse or mule and Eli bought the mules so it seemed the economical option to go with.

LOL, either way, let's not worry about it much.
Mules can carry some equipment along with riders, but not a ton.
However, I don't know if your group actually bought any tents or other larger equipment.
(You're quite lucky it's been dry so far.)

Arabeth, do you want a pack mule?
Eli, did you figure you had bought one for her?

Honestly, I don't care to make any fuss or stress over it, so let's just decide how we want it, and go with it from here. :)

At this point in the journey,
Eli has harnessed his mule to the one-animal cart and is leading it on foot (or riding on the small cart bench, which could fit two.)
A pack mule could be tied behind the cart, and Arabeth could then be freer to move more quickly on her horse.
However, I don't know how long you guys will be keeping the cart.

As for the splitting up issue, if it can be resolved in character, that would be my preference, and perhaps you do want to track the mule/horse/whatever trail through the underbrush a bit more, but the trail is at least a day old, possibly two, so it definitely got quite a big head start, and I'd rather not split the party for too long, if we can help it.
Characters are free to speak up as they would like.

I purchased 12 mules - 11 for riding and one for packing.

There are 14 of us.

That means I acknowledge that three folk had horses (or other mounts, but, as it turns out, horses) - Aeryth, Arabeth, and Lesith.

That is what I paid for.

Arabeth specified that she purchased things (from her funds): another mule, pack saddles, and fodder.

Mule costs: 8 gold
{5 gold per pack saddle * 1 mules = 5 gold}
{5 copper for feed/day * 7 days * 2 mounts = 70 copper = 7 silver = 0.7 gold}

All told, she spent 8+5+0.7 = 13.7 gold = 13 gold, 7 silver

She received: 10 platinum, 6 gold, 1 silver, and 1 copper.

Conversion: 9 platinum, 15 gold, 11 silver, and 1 copper.
Spent: 13 gold, 7 silver

Remaining: 9 platinum, 2 gold, 4 silver, and 1 copper.

So, unless we recton something, *Arabeth* has an extra mule, it wouldn't slow her down to date, and she can always cut it free, as needed.

Sound about right?

EDIT: With two pack mules, Eli would take them and attach them to the wagon as well - they would follow behind, or help pull it, if possible.

If there's an extra mule, Cernan may have tied some of his extra stuff to it. It's hard to carry around that many masterwork tools when you've also got an anvil, forge components and a full set of alchemists' flasks and reagents.

I'm not quite sure what effect the smoke would have on Natanja. She has her own essence de smoke at all times and she is connected to the Flame Spirit (plus has a certain level of resistance to fire). I just wanted to clarify the effect on Natanja in particular as she and Oko drew closer to Endurant. Would her eyes' sting like the others for eg? She would be in her element (in my mind re the concept of burning/smoke). Thanks.

Good question! I hadn't considered it, but you're probably right, the smell might be pleasant to her, and the smoke probably wouldn't sting her eyes. Game-mechanic-wise, Nat still takes damage from strong fire, but flavor-wise, I'll let you decide how she would react to the smoky smell and such.

not to be a pain but I thought we were moving slow with this..

If I had the skills to do what i wanted I would definitely be doing stuff that may be forcing us to back up. so unfortunately i don't.

Sorry if I moved too fast!
The last few game posts have more-or-less been short additions to the last big one as you approached Endurant.
I didn't think each little one would be enough material to chew on for a week.
You can find them all linked to on the Campaign Info tab.
Game pace should slow down again now, since your group has arrived, and since I have a busy work week ahead.
I just get prolific on the weekends. :)
You can feel free to put a spoiler tag post in gameplay going back in time to show more of your character's reaction to finding the bodies.
Now, the group has arrived at the smoking remains of a village and is beginning to look around.

I am trying to put together a character for a game, as I am probably the last one left and holding everyone up. but i keep having to check some of the games that are moving very fast.

no point in that too much I can't redirect action of the past like say if Sister A wants to bury the bodies before heading out or even burn them. that would change everything or just put in a position of ... "too bad, so shut up and follow along."

So i will try something but it will probably be just some wasted dice rolls.

In pertaining to the poor souls we found along the road. Burying them would have teken time which, at the time, we didn't think we had.

Of course, now with the revelation of the present.... We could have taken a few more months to get here and -other than things being lost through scavenging and elements- made none the difference. :(

It depends on the GM, but I know that when I run games I am always willing to let characters take retroactive actions like that in PbP. I think Angelina is generally fine with that too, so it really wouldn't be a problem.

Know what you mean. I've been having some increasingly bad days for what is now close to a year. Luckily, PbP happens to be my emotional mistake, so I'm doing fine on this point.

Friday is pretty easy to confuse with Wednesday, it's got half of the same letters.

That said, a game's pace is ultimately set by the GM—as long as this isn't too fast for you, the pace seems fine.

Natanja gets up at dawn to commune with her spirit animal for an hour. So she can take the watch shift to coincide with that time frame, if possible.

Aslo did Natanja only call specific people or did we all hear that a survivor was discovered.

sounds like she called for specific people but if we all heard then I can presume this poor child is gonna get 14 various heal checks and spells and soo flooded with divine energy she will glow good for a month

EDIT: Ninja sisters: Natanja only called for those who were supposedly there. I'm pretty sure she forgot that Eli was supposed to be around. Specifically, she'd been traveling with Cernan and Kaya, thus she called for them. Most everyone else should be either asleep, guarding, tending the pyre, or working on doing or helping one of those tasks.

To clarify events:

You somewhat regrouped near the wagon after finishing most of your searching and had the conversation about weakness shortly before sunset.

Then, Poterol and others started unloading the five original bodies and making a pyre to burn them, while some went to start getting the logging camp ready for the night, and Natanja, Kaya, Cernan, Eli, and maybe a few others continued searching the rubble.

Shortly after sunset, Natanja found the girl under the bed...
So I would guess that most everyone would still be awake, although a couple might have gone off to sleep.
Natanja stabilized the girl, called to those nearby to help get her out, and carried the girl to a "patch of grass"... which would have to be a bit of a distance away, outside the burned area. Perhaps it was near the short path leading to the empty logging camp and the stream.

You can decide where your character was when the girl was found, whether you would have heard Natanja or noticed her carrying the girl over to the grass, and whether you hurry over to join those with the girl.

By the reading of things.... it would seem Arabeth is abed, wanting to be up and awake to greet the dawn and look after every one as they sleep.

Didn't forget you were around, Eli. Just was not certain you were there at the precise moment Natanja found the girl as it seemed Eli had a number of tasks he was taking care of (around sunset). So I simply played it out with the two kin actually with Nat the entire time.

Natanja: no problem. If it wasn't clear, I'm not upset or worried about it. I could easily see me forgetting things in your place. Mostly I was just explaining my guesswork. :)
