Oh come on you like throwing surprises at us all the time. Feel the tension for once Tierce. ;)

But really I don't like showing things half done. I like to have a certain amount ready. Just a peeve of mine. x3

Edit-Resending the PM.

Can I have a special hat?

A special hat

We should all get one. :)

Can I have a different article of clothing that is special? ;)

Liberty's Edge

I'm intrigued as to what article of clothing that is

Here he is at last. Hope I did not disappoint. ;3

Circe and Arcturus if you don't mind I am going to use your names. If you do mind let me know and I will remove you. Sorry Circe but I am siding with Arcturus a little. But just a little. xP

Edit- Aw still need to give him gear. Then he should be done.

Halfblood Haku, Human Tetori Monk, Work In Progress!

story:
Kalin Varak is considered by many to be a brillant researcher and student of magic. What most do not know and if they did know would surely kill him is that Kalin Varak derives his power from Abraxas the demon lord of forbidden knowledge and secrets. He does not genuinely revere Abraxas, their relationship is more of a master and apprentice both educating the other.

In his youth Kalin met Zhen Halfblood who taught him the importance not of hard work, but the importance of being one step ahead of everyone else. This lesson Kalin took to heart and he is exceptionally smart and capable, in addition to his ability to keep most people believing him to be a simple, humble scholar. However problems have arisen, problems relating to folk of the magical sort who have no business prying into the affairs of others.

As many priests of knowledge and wizards began to dislike the fact that Kalin Varak was always better then they were. Soon he noticed that they were scrying his house searching for anything that could be used to sully his reputation. Soon enough they found his altar to Abraxas, then all hell broke loose. The clerics rounded up their paladins and sarced temple guardians to attack his house and kill him.

By the time they arrived however Kalin Varak was already gone and had set a nasty trap for them in the house...a set of explosive runes. He watched from the distance as they triggered them and the house blew up like an inferno. Satisfied that they would not be following him anytime soon, he climbed into his cart and decided it was time to go meet Zhen Halfblood one last time.

The letter had arrived just a week ago but he had decided to remain in order to continue his studies and because he didn't feel like traveling at that point in time. However with angry priests, wizards and his house blown up it was as good a time as any to visit old Zhen.

Anything else I need include GM?

No, Magister is good - I actually kinda adore the guys, and am currently playing one in Way of the Wicked. Just a head's up, however - the d20 SRD does not have the most current version. It works, but it doesn't have some of the new options, such as getting a Magister's Eidolon, or turning it into a more Martial class by loosing some spell slots but gaining 2/3 BAB.

Yes, favoured class means you would gain extra cantrips until you get level 2 spells - or an extra skill/hit point.

Alright, ladies and gentle minions, you have until this evening - my time - to make any changes and get character sheets in. Let's call it 10 am GMT. That's 5pm EST for those who aren't good with international time zones.

I prefer a spellcaster to magus, its like they took the mystic theurge and made it worth playing. Besides a metamagic pool! That will be fun to use i'll include the additional cantrip/orison in his alias if he's picked.

Liberty's Edge

Good luck everyone. There are some great submissions here and I don't envy Jon one bit on having to make this decision.

Here's Rock! All FEENEESHED.

About Rock:
Step 1: Write 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, a personality profile…whatever you need to get an image in your mind. 5 is just a minimum…more elements are encouraged!

1. Rock is a big girl, standing at about 6 feet and muscular at that. She is not very green skinned., for a half-orc. In fact, her skin tone is almost normal, pinkish though under close inspection maybe a little green-tinted. Mostly her heritage is visible in the strong muscles and powerful lines of her; Rock is no retiring flower. She does have tusks, though like her skin they are subtle, mostly noticeable when she smiles, which isn’t often. She dresses in loose, easy fitting clothing with no armor at all and no weapons, (and usually no shoes) though one always gets the impression that she’s never exactly unarmed when looking at the size of her biceps.

2. Rock is one of Zhen’s many (many) ‘grandchildren’. She’s never met the old man, though her mother knew him well enough, and he’s always sent the little half-orc presents at appropriate holidays. Still, her relationship with him is a bit distant, so his request to come see him strikes her as odd – with so many family members, surely someone else would have been a better choice to visit his deathbed…

3. Rock is abrasive. Not exactly pretty, and used to being wild and unkempt, she has a personality to match. Not mean, just not very diplomatic, and definitely not patient, Rock tends to make more enemies than she does friends. She is generally good natured, but has a terrible temper, only exacerbated by her somewhat slow understanding of the world around her.

4. Rock wanted to be a monk. She wanted to be a monk really, really badly. She always admired the zen calmness and careful consideration of the monks she met, which seemed to her the best way to handle the lingering aggression of her orc blood. But her temperament simply was not suited to the pursuit of quiet contemplation and self perfection, try and study as she might. Bounced from temple to temple, she has become an excellent martial artist, but cannot and will never be able to tap into the deeper powers and understanding of other monks. This is a bit of a disappointment to her, and she hasn’t quite accepted it yet.

5. Rock was raised (more or less) in Katapesh until she began her monk training. Since then, she’s bounced from temples all over the Inner Sea. Its amusing to her to return to Katapesh – she hasn’t been here since she was a child.

Rock's Goals:
Step 2: List at least two goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game.

1. Rock wants to be a (real) monk; as far as she’s concerned, she isn’t one. She never will be; her chaotic nature is too strong, but she will always try and learn and do monk-like things anyway.

2. I want to build Rock like a tank, dipping into Barb and bringing her to the forefront of battles slappin’ folk and trippin’ dudes. She’ll be resistant to Barbarian levels; it’d be cool to run her through coming to embrace that side of herself.

Rock's Secrets:
Step 3: List at least two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet. This will help me in creating plots that center around your character. I will also be creating a third secret which you as a player will not be aware of, so expect some surprises!

1. The human half of the Rock equation was at one time Shaonti (Both of her parents were already half-orcs). Her family doesn’t particularly think that the Shaonti would be too pleased to have mixed with orcs; its not a secret so much as an interesting fact that isn’t advertised too much. Not too hard since Rock’s never been through Varisia. (yet)

2. Rock is not actually one of Zhen’s Grandchildren – she’s one of his daughters, though her mother didn’t want to admit to having an affair with the old adventurer.

Rock's People:
Step 4: Describe at least three people that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile. If you like, you can include an enemy of yours here as well, so I have an instant NPC nemesis to throw at you.

1. Dhama – Rock’s mother, a half orc woman that works at a meat stall in Katapesh. She raised her daughter as best she could, but was somewhat relieved when she could pawn her off on temples.

2. Rock is close to a few of the monks who taught her, most of all with Regnar, a half-orc monk that she met at one of her many temple stops. He is perhaps her greatest inspiration for monk-hood – she has always been a little jealous of his ability to control himself. And maybe she has a little crush. Maybe. Shh.

3. Zoruk – A human boy that Rock beat up for calling her fang-face. Rock definitely still holds a grudge, even if he doesn’t.

Rock's Quirks:
Step 5: Describe three memories that your character has. They don’t have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor.

1. Rock’s first and formative impression of a monk was the one that tore her and Zoruk apart from their fights. He seemed so calm and logical and … cool … he was the only person that ever made her feel ashamed of her temper and violent instincts and want to control them…She is still having a hard time accepting that that just isn’t her.

2. Rock doesn’t like to drink. Or, well, she does like it … maybe too much. So she’s stopped herself from drinking altogether to try and control any possible addiction; but lets face it … drunk monks are better.

3. Rock loves animals. Sadly, animals do not like her. But that won’t stop her from trying to play with every lost kitty!

Two things, shame upon you for using the name Zoruk so badly for shame!

Second if Rock treats or tries to play with me like some small animal, your toast. Just saying, big orckin falling to little dragon. That's what is going to happen. ;-)

I don't envy me either. 'Oh Jon, run a game online, it'll be such fun.' Now I have decisions to make it seems less fun. I am seriously considering whether I can cope with upping the number of characters...

But I don't have to deal yet. You all still have two and a half magical hours to get stuff done.

Liberty's Edge

Its a balance, one side you have disappointing players, on the other you have inviting too many people. Too many players means waiting longer for combat and for a host of other things.

Try running a recruitment for a Paizo AP where you get 20+ submissions, now that's even more tough!

One of the reasons I'll never do Way of the Wicked online - I've seen what the recruitment for those threads is like.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, Gary writes good materials. I plan to run Throne of Night when it comes out, and that is going to be hectic!

Yeah, you've got to limit the players for everyone's benefit. If I were player 7 on the list, I'd rather not play than detract from everyone as a group. :) Good luck!

Well I just try to make a character I would find fun playing and let the chips fall where they may. Good luck to everyone. ;)

I must have calculated the timezone differences wrong last night, I thought that the selections would have happened while I was asleep. At any rate good luck to everyone, I hope that I have the privilege of playing with you soon!

Sorrrryyyyy, I just realized I used Zoruk. :( will change! :)

Just added some trade goods to Saiga sense he is a bit of a merchant. If he gets chosen he will have to pay a hireling, sense he cant move all his stuff alone. ;)

Nothing sells better then booze and the wee one has a good deal, for a price. xP

Alright, that was a barrel of non-fun. In the end I had to sit and talk with my wife, who helped me cut people - since she doesn't know any of you, and I do, she was useful in making sure my own bias didn't crop up. Thank you, dear.

So, the poor souls I'm putting through the wringer;

Circe Lavaush - Tiefling Evocation Wizard - Focused Learner
Saiga Manu - Reprego (Custom) Tatooed Sorcerer - Focused Learner
Arcturus Drake - Aasimar Oracle of Life - Physician
Tolias Vindar - Half-Elf Ranger - Savior
Rock Halfblood - Half Orc Martial Artist Monk - Halfblood
Avendryl Silvermoon - Elf Bladebound Magus - Focused Learner

Sorry to the rest of you. You have no idea how tempted I was to make it seven or eight characters for a couple of you, but folks are right - this will work best with six people. Thank you so much for applying, and if anyone leaves I will be PMing a couple of you to join in.

Congrats to those that passed and better luck on your next venture to those that did not.

no fulito bummer.

goes off to sing some sad songs

sorry Lexi no fulito for you

maybe some day we will adventure together...(without Noro)
