Broken Towers (Inactive)

Game Master JonGarrett

Rebuild a City to glory.

1 to 50 of 79 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Intro

Everyone meets many people in there life. One of the ones you met was Zhen Halfblood. Famed far and wide as a hero, you not only the huge half-orc but spent some time with him. You knew him.

Now you have been summoned to Katapesh and Zhen’s home. The old man is dying. The message is a shock - even though he was old, Zhen was still full of life. But before he passes, he has words to give you...and other things.

Information

This game is going to be somewhat Kingmaker Lite - you, the Player Characters, will head towards the island city of Khalharum - the City of Seven Towers. There you will need to rebuild the city into whatever you can think of. But the city is mostly in ruins. Worse, it's located on the North Coast of the infamous Stonespire Island - a a few hundred miles from Okeno, the site of the largest concentration of slavers in the Inner Sea.

But if you can hold what is yours, then you'll get more than you bargained for...

GM Quirks

- To speed up combat PC's and NPC's will have group turns. Not ideal, but it makes things quicker and simpler.

- No combat maps - Alas, I don't have the time.

- I will make use of third party materials for NPC's on occasion.

The Crunch

Level 1
Books Official Paizo products and stuff from Super Genius Games is fine. Other third party products and 3.5 stuff needs to be run by me.
Starting Funds 175gp
Traits Two traits, one from the cunningly crafted list below;

Campaign Traits:

Halfblood - Zhen had many children, and even more grandchildren. He tends to spoil them rotten...
Effect - You start with an additional 200gp and the Halfblood last name. Don’t worry about race - many of Zhen’s children were adopted.

Saviour - At some point your fast actions saved Zhen or someone he cared about.
Effect - You gain a +2 bonus to initiative or a +1 to your Reflex Save.

Cast Iron Gullet - One day you were heavily into your cups when a Orc challenged you to a drinking contest. Grimrod Guthook, Zhen’s travelling companion, is famed almost as far for his iron belly as his axe work. Although you didn’t outdrink the Orc, you did impress him, and he introduced you to Zhen as someone who could, ‘Hold his ale’, a rare compliment indeed.
Effect - Gain a +1 bonus to your fortitude save, and half the DC of any alcohol related saves.

Child of a Friend - Zhen travelled with many people over the years, and kept track of many of them, remaining a friend of the family. You’ve known ‘Uncle’ Zhen since before you could crawl. Zhen taught you from an early age how to move in armour.
Effect - Reduce the penalty for wearing armour by 1, or reduce the chance of Arcane Spell Failure by 10%.

Former Criminal - At some point in your past you worked on the wrong side of law. Somehow, Zhen was involved in setting you on a more solid path.
Effect - You gain a +1 to Perception and Bluff. One of these is a Class Skill for you.

Marks of Power - The life of Zhen is tattooed on his body. At some point, you convinced him to allow you to copy one of them, and it now adorns your own skin.
Effect - Select one spell. The usual upper limit of that spell (such as the +5 to Cure Light Wounds or the maximum of five Magic Missles) is increased by half. You must be a sufficient level to benefit from this increase.

Focused Learner - You have proved to be exceptionally skilled at learning the lessons Zhen imparted, and it shows in your abilities.
Effect - You gain an additional skill point each level, raising the minimum skill points you can earn each level to 2.

Physician - You are a naturally skilled healer. Even though you are relatively inexperienced, The Halfbloods acquired your assistance at some point in the past.
Effect - You gain a +1 to your Heal skill, and add an additional +1 to all spells of the Cure type (including over there usual maximum limit)

Con Artist - You’ve never met Zhen Halfblood in your life. But you know of him, and you know how to impersonate someone who was invited but can’t make it...
Effect - You gain a +1 to both Bluff and Disguise. One of these is a Class Skill for you.

I'm intrigued.

What method will be used for character generation? (Point Buy, 4d6, etc.)

When is the deadline for character submissions and how many are you looking for?

Sovereign Court

Hello Jon!

Dotting for interest, I have a doctor character I will post up shortly

Dotting

I have a concept I will have to run by you in a bit. Need the build rules before I can make a sheet for you, depends on your approval or denial of my concept as well. Shooting you a PM later. ;)

Dotting for interest with the same questions than Talomyr.

I'll be posting up a wizard when I can think of a name to make an alias with. :)

the big dot from me as well.

dang Joy I was thinking wizard as well...

Liberty's Edge

Here is the shell of my character once we get point buy and the like. Going Oracle of Life.

...forget the stat creation, Jon. Sure, why not? It's not like that's important or nothing...

25 point buy.

Well, i was going for a yin/yang concept with Tierce, so since he is divine caster I was going arcane caster. ;)

25 point buy, great.

So far I see a Wizard (maybe two) and a Life Oracle.

Hmmm....which way to go Human or Elf, Bladebound Magus or Half-Orc Unbreakable Fighter.

If I go the Elf route might have to see if the Spell Dancer and Bladebound Magus work together.

I missed your second question (my apologies - I'm a little sleepy).

Looking for a cast of six. I'll start looking heavily at players on Sunday, and making choices Monday. Assuming we have enough interest to wait that long...

I'll put in my interest for a Ranger - will be primarily melee with some good ranged back up abilities.

Buuttt.....first off I need to go off and grab a meal. Will probably have something up in a few hours from now though.

Yay yay yay. Thinking.

Liberty's Edge

Character is finished and ready for review. Back story and crunch are in alias. As you can see I used Lexibean's patented five steps to a backstory

Fulito in da house..

just need to re-crunch chaarcter for this game. back stroy might need minor tweek at the end to place him at the right spot.

but at least you know what the charcter will be and a touch of his personality.

Fuliiiitooooo!

Greetings!
This sounds fascinating and I look forward to the opportunity to play in your campaign. Bibic (details in alias) is primarily a Bard who focuses on his archery in combat (when not doing the oration of course).

He is particularly keen to go along on the mission so as to properly document the heroics of the party. He sees himself more as the chronicler of the expedition than a hero in his own right. But he will be dragged kicking and screaming to the forefront of battle.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

@JonGarrett

You have a PM. Enjoy, hopefully my sorcerer will be coming here soon. ;)

Talomyr checking back in with a submission. Might still have a few minor tweaks to do, but he's ready for the most part.

Thanks for offering to run a game. Hopefully my submission will be good enough to make the cut.

EDIT: Scratch that. Back the editing board as apparently a nice chunk of the background didn't save. *grumble, grumble*

EDIT 2: Ok, everything seems to be in order now.

Mefika back with my completed sheet, background and niceties are now done and all the crunchy bits have been checked over and updated. Up and in their face ranger who will be able to seamlessly switch between melee and ranged roles at later levels.

I'll probably also put together a sheet on myth weavers if necessary which I'll link into on the alias notes.

@Jon - howzabout a monk martial artist / going into Barb?

fulito crunch is done.

fluff has two stories. they are only slightly different.

Fulitoooooo!

I submit for consideration Yutrus, a Human Monk dedicated to bring civilization to these parts...

Intriguing. I was thinking of doing something similar, but the Martial Artist was a dip for a Serene Barbarian Concept I'm working on. I'd love to see what you can do with it.

lexibean wrote:

That was one direction was thinking for Noro just never had the stats for it

Wheee. :) Now I just need Tierce's Hero Lab. :D

I could never get on with Hero Lab - it always did something wrong. I decided to trust myself and my C+ in Maths to get sheets done. Sometimes badly...

Yo Lexi, if you wanna Multiclass, you might like the Genius Guide to Apprentice Level Characters which allows you to start level 1 with a half Monk, Half Barbarian character. When you hit level 2 it acts like you have one level of each, and you go on from there. I can send more details your way if you like the idea.

Otherwise, ignore me fanboying over Super Genius Games...again.

That's petty cool, but again, without an actual computer, I'd need help building or at least formatting. :)

Lexi if you need a computer you should come to my house, I got spares all over the place it seems. Son is a computer science major in college and I have a degree in electronics. (of course when i went to college Windows 98 was the newest out there.)

and haveing girls that are not my son's girlfriend or relatives stopping by is nice also

Send me one! Lol.

Almost done. Should be ready for review tomorrow. :)

Liberty's Edge

Made some small tweaks as I grabbed a healer's kit and surgeon tools. Everything is still complete

@JonGarrett

Sent you a PM. ;)

Many a priest has accused Karmun Desalos of being morally impoverished, indeed he is morally impoverished. He has a heart of gold...literally, he worships Calistra not out of piety but because he hopes an outward display of piety will help him with his romantic liaisons among her clergy...

Karmun Desalos hearing the call of wealth and profit that was the call of Zhen Halfblood from his deathbed. However a problem exists the person that Zhen halfblood called to his deathbed is preparing for his journey. This means there is only one option for Karmun Desalos...he must wack the traveler upside the head and disguise himself to look like him and then hope he was convincing...

Gm do you think the story needs to be fleshed out?

GM, you mentioned liking super genius games, would you allow a Godling?

Yeah, Godlings are fine. Just don't try and break them.

So, how do I half and half a first level? :)

Sent it via PM, Lexi.

Mah, send that again? My phone deleted it.

JonGarrett wrote:

I don't think I've seen a godling that wasn't broken...yet

I'd only heard they could be broken. Never had much interest in a Godling, so I've never fully read up on them.

@JonGarrett
Did you reply to my PM? If so I failed to get it.

I did, but I'll send it again.

@JonGarrett
Unless I missed it, did you approve or disapprove of his special hat?

Edit- I ask cause it effects backstory. Kinda a turning point thing. ;)

Liberty's Edge

I'm curious to see what this actual idea is and why it must be behind closed doors!

...he has a special hat? Looks like I'm missing a PM from you.
