About Arcturus Drake

Backstory:

Step 1: Write 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, a personality profile...whatever you need to get an image in your mind.
1. Arcturus was born in Mendev, but was raised in Andor. This combination has led him to be a man of his word, and to detest slavery with every fibre of his body.
2. He served as the ship’s physician for several years as a Gray Corsair, privateers under the banner of the Andoran government charge with the mission to discreetly fight the yoke of slavery in the Inner Sea Region
3. Arcturus is haunted by the spirits of his dead compatriots, which he feels guilty for not being able to save while they were on his operating table. This has caused him to be very withdrawn with those around him
4. He has the blue eagle of Andor tattooed upon his forearm. This was his symbol of office during his time in the Gray Corsairs, the navy wing of the Steel Falcons. He wears his tattoo with pride.
5. During his time with the Corsairs, he met famed hero Zhen Halfblood during a slaver raid close to Katapesh. He healed the half orc of his wounds and shared many drinks with him over the course of a fortnight before their paths diverge once again.
6. Arcturus has had several run ins with famed Chelish pirate hunter, Circe Lavaush. He finds her infuriating and unreasonable and the two of them have nearly come to blows on several occasions.

Step 2: List at least two goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game.
1. Arcturus wants to get over the guilt that he faces each and every day of the friends that he has seen die over the years. He blames himself for their deaths as he was unable to heal them from it. He would also like to improve his healing skills to the point that death will no longer prevent him from saving someone.
2. To find out who his father is and to meet him for the first time. Arcturus has no clue that his father is Sunlord Thalachos.

Step 3: List at least two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet.
1. Arcturus sees dead spirits, namely those of his departed Gray Corsair compatriots. Arcturus blames himself for the loss of each and every one of them as he was unable to prevent their deaths. The spirits continue to haunt him to this day
2. Arcturus never met his father and was never told any details about him. He has gone on with life, never really wondering or caring who he might be. He is aware that his is a celestial as he knows of his aasimar heritage. In reality, his father is none other than Sunlord Thalachos, the personal angelic herald of Sarenrae.

Step 4: Describe at least three people that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile.
1. Corveilla Drake – Arcturus’ mother and priestess of Sarenrae. Corveilla served in the Mendev Crusade as a healer before giving birth to Arcturus and moving to Andor. Arcturus has inherited his mother’s “healing hands”
2. Major Colson Maldris – Major in the Eagle Knights and personal friend. Arcturus served under him during his time as a Gray Corsair.
3. Circe Lavaush – Chelish Pirate Hunter, has had run in’s with Arcturus in the past and the two have been hostile for years due to their opposite life styles

Step 5: Describe three memories, mannerisms, or quirks that your character has. They don't have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor.
1. Arcturus is a quiet and reserved man. However when confronted with slavery, he can get rather vicious.
2. He can be a bit jumpy at times as he can get surprised by the spirits that haunt him. However during an operation or healing procedure, All bets are off
3. He is rather fond of his drink, as he would commonly get lost in his cups during his sailor days.
