I had assumed that we were in Frog God's "The Lost Lands" campaign setting.

Where in Golarion are you putting Castorhage?

Vera Marshall wrote:

From the recruitment thread: 'Note that, as I have no other Lost Lands Campaign Setting materials, I shall be running the Blight in Golarion… Castorhage is, in this world, a self-governing city state geographically located in the nation of Taldor… and replaces Cassomir on the map. Having said that, I anticipate that the adventure will be entirely self-contained within the Blight so this placing of Castorhage within the Golarion map should only really impact those who choose to write backgrounds that have them originating from beyond the city…'

I don't have any of the Lost Lands material and frankly, my interpretation of Golarion is loose enough that plonking an entire city down where another used to be doesn't phase me!!!

...note that I may revisit that view if I end up purchasing the Taldor instalment of the Campaign Setting!!!!

Taldor seems an appropriate location for Castorhage.

On a completely unrelated note...

My posting may be a little more erratic than usual for the next few days. First of all, my daughter is graduating high school today, and we have a bunch of relatives in town to help celebrate.

Secondly, I accidentally triggered an anti-theft routine on my phone, and it's now temporarily bricked until Sunday. All of my updates will have to be via my laptop, which is harder to do a quick post from when I have 15 minutes to kill.

Hey, folks.

As much as I hate to say it, my posting will continue to be erratic for the next two weeks. This week, I'm at a week-long off-site training session. I just found out this morning that the new person I'd trained to back-fill for me is now also out of the office due to a family emergency. This means that I'll need to put in 3-4 hours of work after hours every night. I am not going to have much (if any) time for online gaming this week.

And next week, I'm on an actual vacation, with limited access to the Internet. My regular back-up should be back to back-fill for me, so at least I won't have to worry about work piling up.

Hopefully, I'll be able to return to my regular posting schedule after I'm back from vacation on 7/10.

Zed: Please bot Vera as needed.

Amelia & Lilly, as a pair, operate as NN. With Amelia being LN, and Lilly being CN. They are, however, under quite a bit of stress, and are very closeto slipping into CN with evil leanings, at least toward this witch.

Hey, folks.

Just letting you know that I am still alive. The training was intense, and of course I had a ton of work come in while I was there, so I was up pretty late after-hours keeping my head above water.

My back-up returns next week while I'm on vacation for the upcoming week. I won't have regular wifi or wireless phone service until at least Wednesday, so I'll probably stay dark for another week.

Thanks for you patience!

Just waiting on getting our numbers back up before moving us along - at the moment (through moving, vacations and Elliomander's IRL stuff) we're down to only two of the original five posting... hopefully we'll have Gar and Vera back shortly.

Zed, are we going to do a recruitment to top off the losses we've had? It's getting hard to get into the game with so little PC posting. I was debating what to do when you ended the combat.

We've only lost Elliomander... we should still have Vera, Mama Frill, Gar (although he does seem busy) and yourself - and, tbh, there isn't a huge distance to go in terms of the game anyway... I'd much rather push on without faffing around with a recruitment - having said that, the posting rate over the last three weeks has been way way low and so, I will be pro-actively moving the story on from this point onwards - and, in forthcoming combats, folks will have 24h to post their actions or they run the risk of being GMPC'd or delayed...

Ooooooh, exciting!!! Apparently the main book for the Blight is going to be sent out this weekend (in PDF format at least)... For sure, it'll take me a good while to digest it all but I would imagine that sometime around the time that Bloody Jack reaches its denouement, I will be looking to run a recruitment for the Blight AP.

Watch this space.

Ooh!

I'm eagerly awaiting my copy, as well!

Plus, Kickstarter backers are getting a 40% off coupon for one item at Frog God Games as an apology for The Blight taking more than a year longer than expected to come to fruition... I'm going to buy a hardcopy of Razor Coast with mine!

I've been pumped for The Blight since it was announced. I've really enjoyed this adventure as well, so I know I'll love it!

Razor Coast is very good, FYI. It's a bargain with that coupon.

I love Razor Coast!

I bought the PDF for $10 during a big sale couple of years ago, but I really do prefer to have a hardcopy to read. I haven't been willing to pay $100 for it, but I will pay $60!

I'm wondering what to use my 40% coupon on - it'll be PDF whatever it is as shipping to the UK likely wipes any benefit of the generous discount!!! Also... I think I may well have enough to read already!!!

I've been noodling on how to build a pirate-themed campaign that's mostly my own by grafting together components of Frog God's Razor Coast, Green Ronin's Freeport: City of Adventure, Paizo's Skull and Shackles Adventure Path, and Legendary Games' various "Pirate AP Plug-ins".

One thing I will say is that Frog God's Fire As She Bears! supplement is the best OGL ship-to-ship combat system I've encountered so far. It blows Paizo's system out of the water. (Pun intended.)

The thing really is 954 freakin' pages long!

This thing is a full, detailed campaign setting guide AND a full adventure path, all in one volume!

Wow.

Yeah, I'm going to need to reinforce some shelves!!!

I'm going to concentrate my reading on the area of the city that Bloody Jack and the Crucible touch upon... beyond that, it's into madness we go!

FYI to all my games :

I live in Texas (Austin), and one of the options Harvey has is to wander up and over Austin and laze around and drop a couple of feet of water on us. So if I don't post this week it's because we lost power, internet, or both. Should be fine for anything else, we live on a hill so if we have water flooding our living room, the entire Mississippi river valley is under 80 ft of water from New Orleans to St. Louis. :) So we'd have a lot more problems than flooding at that point.

I got my hardcopy of The Blight last week.

It is a monster!

It really stands out on my gaming bookshelf, as it is by far the largest gaming book in my collection.

It's roughly twice the size of the Pathfinder Core Rulebook. However, it is printed in black-and-white on non-glossy paper, and weighs about the same, despite being twice the page length. I used my discount code from Frog God Games to buy a hardcopy of Razor Coast, and that book weighs more, despite being about 400 pages shorter. (RC is printed in color on glossy paper.)

Honestly, the book easily could have been published as two volumes: The Blight Campaign Setting and The Levee Adventure Path; both would have been 450+ pages in length on their own. I think I might have preferred that: As it is, the book is rather unwieldy to read.

Yeah, I'd have been up for the books being split into two as well (even without seeing it, I kinda know that a 950 page book isn't going to be particularly 'read in bed'-able) but I guess it made most sense for the Frogs to publish it in one big chunk...

...and, in vaguely related news, I've read through the first third of the AP in detail and got a recruitment thread ready to go - so, when we get to the end of Bloody Jack (the Crucible will end on similar timescales), I will launch a recruitment for the Blight AP... fun times await!!!

We are entering the final act of this blood-sodden Penny Dreadful of an adventure - and it's cool to see all of the threads coming together... I'm going to let you folks debate your next steps for a short while and then move us along. Note that I am going to be writing Elliomander out as an NPC as we exit Currington's Clothiers... and I'll keep running Gar for a while.

Amelia:
So, with Lilly finally rested, I'm planning on letting Gar take over as some kind of protective phantom... if you want to build him as Amelia's Phantom offline then I will make sure he becomes available to you before you next enter a combat situation...

So folks, I thought maybe you might be interested in this horrible little tale that I'd like to tell. Your untrustworthy storyteller stands at the doorway, keys jangling at his belt and bids you to sit by the remnants of his fire...With a twitching brow and a faraway gaze, he wants to tell you about the Blight...

And so, having saved the city from one of the many monsters that stalks its dark nights, the group find themselves freed from custody... and with the nagging question as to why such a high ranking official might have secured their release - an especially pertinent question given the fact that his name had come up during the investigation of the Bloody Jack killings...

...and that, my friends, is where the GM sets down his quill and closes the book. I hope you folks enjoyed your time in Castorhage - I certainly enjoyed your characters :) I think it is a particularly fantastic adventure and I hope I did it some justice!!! I know folks here are applying to partake of my Levee AP... and so, with different guises, maybe we will walk these streets again!!!

If anyone wants to write epilogues or post-scripts for their characters then you are more than welcome to do so... I will leave the Campaign open for a few days before shuffling it into the Inactive pile. Further, if you want to chat in this thread about what was happening behind the scenes, then I am happy to expand on any parts of the story which seemed opaque to you...

I think that was the lead in to the next AP. :)

So, as Amelia says, this is a big lead into continuing the adventure...

Blight type secrets!!!:
High Justice Bracken had, unsurprisingly given that few get to his high place of power without vast networks of hidden contacts and ulterior motives, links to some of the 'organisations' that the group tangled with... specifically, the doppelgangers encountered in Currington's Clothiers and the insidious infiltration into the various corners of Castorhage society. Bracken, who knew who Bloody Jack was all along, was concerned that the Investigator's would - by digging around in the past and seeing the link to Between - uncover the network...

And now, he wants the group dead.
