How about we do "town roleplay" for Enigma vaults until WBG3 is over. That way, it's all just fun and anyone can join in at any time. Arturo is still very keen on checking out that swamp monster!

Oh, and he needs to finally remember to bring some mining equipment down there. Not that we've seen any lode veins or anything lately.

I'm thinking we can set up shop in our house a bit better, too... and maybe even take up residence in the upper levels of the dungeon itself. Y'know, make all those cages and traps and stuff all nice and cozy.

Hmmm. Time to take this to the Enigma Vaults discussion thread.

Hey all, I've posted quite a bit today so I'm going to be taking the night off (from PbP). I'll return with my usual early-morning posts tomorrow. Just wanted to let you know not to wait for anything from me tonight!

Damien OUT!

I agree, there is not game that I [i]need[/i[ top play immediately that is worth it to miss out RPing with you guys.

WOO HOO!

One column again. 7 games + the Zedroom is definitely my limit, then. Truth be told, it's way over my limit. Thanks all for indulging me in my "night off" last night. It was a good night, but I did miss you all (and checked all the threads on my phone before going to sleep so I could dream of my responses).

You know you play too much PbP when...

You post the above.

Going to be offline tonight. Updated my GM games, and will try to get my player ones, but no promises. See you all tomorrow - unless I can squeak in one or two here or there.

If you are interested, please check in with the recruitment thread(s).

As an FYI - Serpents Rise has one slot left (that I haven't given out... hoping to get one of you, but if I don't no big deal).

For Siege, I still have 4 seats after our guys... RECRUIT!!!

Any thoughts about throwing it on the Flaxseed Lounge?

What's the Flaxseed Lounge?

It is a huge hangout for PbP. Lost of recruiting and such. Like a Zedroom for everyone.

Boys. I just hit (as of my previous post), 5,000 posts. I know it's not as much as some on these here forums, but my first post ever was May last year:

Wilmannator Post #1

Given I didn't really ramp up until August, that's roughly 5,000 posts in a little over a year. Insanity. My average posting rate since then is about 12 a day. I think I may have an addiction to PbP.

Male Level 1 Human Commoner

Wow, congrats on that. I can't believe you have 5,000 posts. That's pretty amazing. Maybe impressive is a better word? Either way, that's awesome, dude!

Not only that, we missed our anniversary. Notice who the first post is after Damo ....

Congrats on 5k! and happy anniversary to all! It wouldn't be a proper anniversary if the males didn't forget it completely right?

Looks like my official anniversary of joining the group late was a year ago tomorrow... I forgot about that post...

FYI - If someone needs to bow out for the First Steps track, AJ is interested in playing.

Oh, and I've got an idea of what I'll be playing, thanks to AJ. No, no spoilers on it yet. :D

I can run for 7. I'm still up for running all 3 of that 3 parter (with the latter 2 parts being not for PFS credit). Is AJ up for that, too?

Most of the idea of those "alts" games is to play exactly the same games so that we all stay together. Again, though, happy to run (at least that one) for 7. I'm not the GM for the other games.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Lort strides into the Zedroom, pondering things.

"So, my friends, after the recent activity traveling back to the past and so on... I've got quite a bit of cash from the Pathfinder Society," he notes, waving his empty mug at Gunari to fill up for him, "I've decided to have my weapon enchanted with that really vicious magic, like the one I found in the Bronze House. I also liked the idea of putting a dusty, rosy ioun stone in my wayfinder, looks like it'll make be better at wrestling - among other things.

"That leaves me with a bit over two thousand gold to spend," Lort chugs the beer, "I was thinking of saving up for a tunic to make me harder to grab, but this reservoir of blood that would help me store some of my own vitality for later use looked promising. Thoughts?"

Fūcking hell, Damien, or you could just ask like a normal person. You're sick, buddy, sick.

Blood Reservoir of Physical Prowess is a standard action to activate, meaning that it's mostly going to be useful for a quick ability damage restoration as needed, but I love the idea of maybe giving Lort a further +8 strength (inherent bonus, so stacks with the lot!) from time to time. What do you guys think?

Male Halfling Bard/1

In our home games the Blood Reservoir is a favorite. Very useful item.

Male Human Engineer/4 (ding!)

The reservoir of blood seem soooooo appropriate for Lort... Especially if you can heal the con damage after filling the resevoir.

I don't know if anyone in our group can cast lesser resto - but that would be an amazing combo. using lesser resto scrolls or a wand would also be good, basically counteracting the item's drawback with gold cost.

That makes me think I need to suggest that to the barbarian in my emerald spire game, since my oracle can easily cure the con damage to him...

Lort can cast indeed cast lesser resto! He's a 5th level cleric. He just keeps forgetting it. Gunari can also cast it. I'll need an average of 2 castings to remove the damage, though, so I'll have to be careful. Ability damage doesn't happen that often, so I imagine it'll just be charged most of the time from a while back. I love that it isn't a "24 hour" thing and just lasts until you need it. Very handy.

I'm getting a bit of a theme for Lort - damaging himself for an edge and storing his power. Got the hallowed chalices for storing channels, got the vicious enchantment to damage himself for an untyped (!!) damage bonus against opponents (great... and sooooo dangerous if you've got orcish ferocity, too!). The blood reservoir of physical prowess is just a cool combination of the two other concepts, really.

Thanks for the advice on RP and mechanical elements, Chris and Steve. Yeah, I think I'll take it. If nothing else, it's thematically appropriate for the crazy half-orc.

If you had an expedition manager, you could get a wand of lessor resto without spending gold.... Just a thought

-Posted with Wayfinder

Dark Archive

Human (Minnesotan) Rules Lawyer 4, GM 5!

you could get a scroll with 5 lesser restorations for 2PP as well.

actually, wouldn't a wand of lesser restoration be 2*3*750 = 4500? Expedition Manager gives you, at most, a 3500gp item.

Bad math moment, you are right. I'm going to get clobbered by my wife if I don't stop this....

Not sure what everyone plans are for the US holiday weekend. I have traveled so much we are staying local. I have a Fantasy Football draft tomorrow, and some normal bar-b-que plans, so a post or two a day for me.

'House' is at a tipping point when everything is going to progress rapidly, so I was leery about starting it on the weekend and not sure about botting and such. On the other hand, it has gone about 2 weeks longer than I though so there is that. Added to the fact that we are off to the Pale Tower, things are really going to ramp up.

No plans. Regular "weekend speed" for me.

Liberty's Edge

I'm sure very late with this, but happy PBP anniversary everyone! :)
And gratz to Damien for the 5k posts!

BTW, do you know if we should get the scenarios for the game day? And if we do, when we'll get them?

Male Level 1 Human Commoner

Happy PbP anniversary, everyone!

That's a good question, Karma. Expect them soonish, but realize that John Compton is a little overstretched right now.

Wait we get them? I already bought them Used the 10% off, but still. grumble mumble, cheap bastard

Dark Archive

Human (Minnesotan) Rules Lawyer 4, GM 5!

FYI - did you guys see the HUGE hero lab special? All the core packs, from what I can gather, for $29.99

Yeah, day late and dollar short to that too. Thought that any specials would be around GenCon, not 2 months after. more grumble mumble

Male Human Engineer/4 (ding!)

All caught up on all the games. Gado just pulled something off in Isle of Dread that I envisioned him doing when I created him. Perfect combo, and oh so flavorful, fits his personality to a T.

I should probably read the emails that hero lab sends to me huh? I pretty much have everything, but there might have been some stuff I still could have used. bummer!

Liberty's Edge

I missed any Hero lab specials, but how do you guys feel about the new class packs? Value for money?

I'm not quite sold to the idea yet, but I'd be willing to try if the cost would be decent. I just wonder how many extra packs would be required to create a character to my liking.

Probably at least UE, and then traits are probably all over the place...

Been working on getting characters ready for next week, decided to save my +2 armor upgrade since I can add +6 shield bonus after an attack is made, in favor of the Keen upgrade for Finarin. Can now crit on a 15-20 10d6 Shocking Grasp (Empowered Intensified). Can't wait to hit some machines.

For Ophiuchus I needed some help. I want to add some magic to him so that he is more a combat/medic. Besides stocking up on scrolls, which take me a standard to retrieve, any ideas? Really want to be able to heal a wide range of conditions, fatigue, blindness, deafness ect.

In fantastic news, drafted Tom Brady and Gronk in my ESPN fantasy league - what a great start.

Dark Archive

Human (Minnesotan) Rules Lawyer 4, GM 5!

So, it looks like I need to find one more game to run prior to Oct 17 -- was thinking I could run "The Many Fortunes of Grandmaster Torch" (season 0) as sort of a speed run. It is an ok scenario, at best, and is also pretty quick to start with, so wouldn't suffer from a fast treatment.

We'll start this for PbP Gameday IV. If I can get 4-6 players up for it (multiple postings per day... like Damien's speed) that'd be great. It is a 1-7, so bring in any character you want (though we know that the Drongos and the Slayers are already in play).

I'd like to do this one before I start the Enigma Vaults running, but am willing to do both.

Who's in for it?

My draft happened before they told me about it. Ended up with Gronk, can't say I am disappointed...

Also can NOT wait to see Finarin Crit. I hope you have an extra special description for what happens the first time you Arc Flash an enemy.

As for the extra game - I could be enticed. It's not like I am prone to over-committing...

Dark Archive

Human (Minnesotan) Rules Lawyer 4, GM 5!

no... not at all, Steve.

Not like I am playing in an AP and a "Damo Special", running 2 games (currently), playing in 3 others right now.

GAH!

And it only gets worse when the game day starts.

I'm 100% up for it.

We're looking to play Technic Siege by Jyri first for PbP Gameday, so Lort will be in that one and Haafiz will be free to play. So long as you finish before we start Slave Master's Mirror, it won't be a problem. Sounds like you will. Speed run. Can't wait.

Otherwise, I'd love to play Mavaro again actually. Really enjoying that pregen.

Man, I wish I knew how to say "no" to PbP.

For my part, I'll hold off on running First Steps until this one is over. No point completely overloading ourselves.

Also... welcome to the Zedroom AJ! I saw your dot there. ;-)

Male Human Engineer/4 (ding!)

All the more reason to button some of this stuff up before gameday starts... if possible :)

Cyrus will also be involved in Technic Siege, I am anxious to break him back out, especially since he dinged level 8 at the con, and I havent had a chance to play him at that level yet.

I am guessing that Wounded Wisp, Hanojai, and Wardstone will all be wrapping up pretty soon too, which should take a load off of some of us, and I dont' think we are starting up as many as we are finishing.

We will be good, I have faith :)

Alternatively, Jack, you could always run something for a subset of us over Google+...

... or run Slave Masters first (since we're planning on doing that anyway and you have to be the one to run it). I know it's not a "speed run" adventure, but it'll work.

Jack depends on the tier. House and patrol both are very close but both are not sure things. All my characters will be tied up in game day except 1 who will be lvl 3 or 4 if I use the wbg chronicle on him.

Glad you like the pregens. Was hoping for a better understanding of the classes and abilities and I think we got that.

I'd be good to do it at lowest tier. Methodios (lvl 2) or GM Credit baby (lvl 2) could both work.

Dark Archive

Human (Minnesotan) Rules Lawyer 4, GM 5!

Which group is doing Slave Masters Mirror? I could run that.

Though I think Jyri has already played that.

It would be drongos for slave masters mirror, with Lort and Cyrus sitting on the sidelines due to being level 8. I would bring Pooka, and Damien would bring one of his characters that fit that I can't remember the name of. It's in the scenario planner though.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Liberty's Edge

The Many Fortunes of Grandmaster Torch is among the worst scenarios I've played, but if you're looking for a speed run it should be a good choice. (And it features Torch, which is always a plus).

I haven't played Slave Masters Mirror, so I'm very interested on that. I think it was originally planned for Drongos, but I think the many of them has reached level 8 already. Slayers?

Dark Archive

Human (Minnesotan) Rules Lawyer 4, GM 5!

Slayers need to hang on, because if they don't they'll be curb stomping the scenario (6 level 5s in a module written for 4 level 4 characters).

Whichever... Mirror or Torch -- I just need to be done by Oct 16. :D

Male Human Engineer/4 (ding!)

In the Scenario Planner sheet (Current and Pending tab at the very end) I had slave master's mirror listed as one of the PbP Gameday scenarios we could run.

To Jyri's point, only Lort and Cyrus have reached level 8, the rest of the drongos can play Slave Master's Mirror. I intend to run that with Pooka, which works out better since he is Libertys edge. Lort is planning on using Haafiz, his level 7 character. This is also assuming Jack wants to Run that for us. (it made sense since he was the only one to have played and GM'd it already)

I had also listed Pooka as playing Technic Seige, in an effort to let some of the other Drongos catch back up to Lort and Cyrus. I think I would prefer to do this, but obviously wouldn't be able to do it concurrently with running Slave Master's Mirror.

Actually.... going through the list, it looks like I had listed starting the PbP gameday with:

-Technic Seige (Drongos) with Jyri running
-We be Goblins Free with Jack running
-Wounded Wisp (alts, new toons dedicated to each other) with Damo running.

Then Jack would run Slave Master's Mirror after WBG3 was finished
John would run Heresy of man as soon as the Drongos were finished with slave master's mirror
Jyri would run Heresy of Man 2 after that,
then John finishes Heresy of Man 3 after that

And the hope was that we could squeeze all of that into PbP Gameday.

Whew. We are ambitious. :)

sorry for the rambling here, just keeping the thought going: It looks like WBG3 is no longer able to apply to PbP Gameday now? And Damo was going to put off running Wounded Wisp I believe -

This leaves us with starting the Gameday with Slave Master's Mirror and Technic Siege, and all of the planned Gameday sessions are with the Drongos exclusively.

Thoughts? Suggestions for change?

Male Human Engineer/4 (ding!)

For what its worth, I really really want to play slave master's mirror with Pooka. It would be even better if we could do it during the PbP gameday. We couldn't to technic siege and mirror simultaneously if we want to do them all with the Drongos obviously...

Dark Archive

Human (Minnesotan) Rules Lawyer 4, GM 5!

I can certainly run Slave Masters Mirror -- and put Enigma vaults on hold. That's fine by me.

But, that makes things more complicated due to the Drongos

So, let's get what we can done -- Start with Slave Master's Mirror as soon as the game day starts. If we push we can finish it. Very good scenario, and a good group.

Then we'll go on to Heresy or Technic Siege? (Gunari is itching to go out again).

(why not do Technic Siege then start Heresy?) If we don't get through them all, no big deal.

When Slave Masters Mirror is done, I will start up Enigma Vaults and get the Slayers going again.

Track 1: Drongos:
- Slave Masters Mirror (3-7)
- Technic Siege (5-9)
- Heresy of Man 1-3 (5-9, right?)

Track 2: Slayers
- on hold until SMM finishes.
- Enigma Vaults (3-5 - characters finish as level 5-6)
- Dark Menagerie (4-6 - characters finish at level 6-7)
- Something to get characters to level 7 -- or just move into Sanctum
- Sanctum of a Lost Age (6-8)

Other: Siege, Serpents Rise
