FYI - note that Hero Lab always has a setup in the Sagamore Ballroom, so it won't require going to the dealer room, even.
On the minis front, I never got around to do anything (had thought I had a great mini for Gunari -- but it is only primed -- and that wasn't even done that well).

Nice work Steve! Physical feats are always impressive for we roleplayers. Good stuff mate. Lort is proud.
Also, good stuff on finding a GM, Jack! As always, I'd rather playing under someone who is known than a random. However, it has to be said that the randoms I got last year were all great. It's one of the reasons I continue to PFS against all expectaciton.

Quick question to everyone going to Gencon, so I can make sure I understand the plan. Assuming I can get out of work early enough on Friday to make it to Gencon, park, get into the convention center, and to the gaming room in order to play Sky Key Solution by 7pm, Ibid will go from level 6.1 to 6.2.
Saturday morning, we're playing Six Seconds to Midnight. For this scenario, will I use Vox (Level 4.1) or Ibid (level 6.2)? I know there was some discussion regarding which toons we would all be playing for Six Seconds to Midnight, because of the level various toons will be at by that point, so I just wanted to make sure I understand the plan.
For the other two scenarios I'll be able to play in, Saturday night and Sunday morning, it won't matter as much because those are using pregens. So really I'm just wondering about Six Seconds to Midnight specifically.

...So really I'm just wondering about Sex Seconds to Midnight specifically.
Freudian slip?
I think this comes down to what the new rules are for slow track. If I can take slow track with Cyrus for Friday night and Saturday morning only (with the expected rule change) then I use Cyrus, we play the high tier.
If I can't do that, then I vote that I just use pooka and we play the high tier anyways, allowing you to use ibid either way. Plus that allows me to get out of tier gold for that scenario, and magical full plate is expensive :)

Post GenCon, Jack has a plan for the Slayers, Damien is going to get me out of extreme couponing, and the Drongons are going to sit one out as the PreGens take center stage.
After Haunting, how about a new Season 7. It would be best for someone who attended GenCon to run it to give Miro and Amaranti a chance to catch up a bit, but if Jack and Damien want to continue running their current games, and Chris and Steve can't again - total respect. No worries I will run it.
Don't forget to load my cell # in your phones and send pics, except for the strip club Damien ;).
Very excited for you all and I hope you all have the best time!

Hi Jack,If your friends would still be interested, I have a group of 3 that could round out their table for tier 7-8.
My friends and I have a fighter/inquisitor (7th), an alchemist (8th), and a hunter (8th).
Let me know what they think.
Thanks for your help,
Kevin Ingle
Good for you all? If so, i will reply to him tomorrow.

First up: If you haven't got your picture up on the "Pics" tab of the contacts spreadsheet and are heading to GenCon, sort it out! Send me a pic and I'll put it up there if you can't figure out how to update the spreadsheet. I'm talking to you, Steve and you, Jack! I've just added Ryan up there against his will (probably). Took the photo yesterday and I will give 1,000 points to whoever can guess what he's standing in front of.
@Chris: would be awesome to see you at the Sky Key Solution. Scout out your parking garages, but I can't remember seeing too many "full" signs on the ones a little further away from the convention center. If you're staying at a hotel, call 'em up to ask about their parking situation in advance.
Use Ibid for Six Seconds to Midnight. Even if others do end up playing their lower level characters, the tier is still determined by your APL, and either you'll get out-of-subtier gold for playing down, or they'll get it for playing up! Either way, it'll be fine. The most important thing is to be there and have fun... and I want to see your old man impression when you play Ibid! I don't want to give away too much, either, but it is telling that as I read the scenario I think to myself, Wow, thank god they've got Ibid in the party for this one!
@Jack: For which games are these ring-ins being considered? If for Thursday, they'll push us up a tier (hopefully with 4 character adjustment)... but I'll bring my spare character along just in case of.... gah... Lort's death. Would be awesome to have a full group and thank you for getting us some extra players! Send us Kevin's cell if he's willing and we can make sure to meet him at the muster point.

Ok - Picture is up. The good looking one is my wife. Turns out I don't have any pictures of just me. Family man through and through.
A note on six seconds to midnight... If I end up having to use Pooka, turns out he is at 3.2. (ooooh so close to 4....) but I feel pretty confident that he can hold his own in a tier 6-7, especially with all of you around him. Of course, I am still using the assumption that they will fix the ridiculous slow track rules and make it something that actually makes sense. (ie - being able to turn slow track on and off in between levels...) If/when they do that, I will be using Cyrus anyways.
That reminds me, is today the day they make announcements regarding the new season/GenCon specific stuff?
I can't believe its only a few days away... Man I love short work weeks!

Thanks for the responses everyone, I'm much more excited getting to play Ibid for Sky Key Solution and Six Seconds to midnight. And I'm not sure what impressions I'll be doing, I'm pretty much an old man anyway, so all I really need to do is talk like I normally would. And as for parking and getting set up at the con prior to the Friday night game, I'm hoping to get there early enough to be able to sort all that out so I can be on time. I really don't want to miss the first game.
And based on what you're hinting at, Damo, apparently now there is some pressure for Ibid to perform well during Six Seconds to Midnight :0

Picture is up as well... note that it is a little out of date, and I'll likely be wearing a green V-L shirt rather than the purple goblin volunteer shirt -- plus, I've grown my beard out. Maybe I'll take a new pic, but, then again, I may have a surprise for Damien. :D
Cyrus the Flea |
I don't think we have the apl to do the higher tier... That will be Cyrus' last scenario at level 6, I'm assuming the rest of us are in the same boat. I don't think we could pick up enough high level characters to get the apl high enough to play the higher tier.
Not that I would mind out of tier gold...

Papasteve08 |
So I typed a bunch of stuff out and then looked at the rules to verify what I thought, and realized that you are exactly right, it will completely depend on who we pick up. Odds are that unless we pick up some level 5s and 6s, we will end up playing the 7-8 with the 4 player adjustment, since I don't think it will take much to put us at an APL of 7.0 or greater. Just one or two higher level toons will put us there.
Damien - You have probably mentioned it, but what level is Ryan's character?
TheBobJones |
New Guide Available, seems the fixed the slow track issue. Didn't notice any other glaring changes, except maybe not being able to pool PP to raise dead. Is that new?
Oh and this thread about new PbP gameday, but you all are playing it at GenCon, maybe Jack gets the 5th star and can run it for Jyri, Chris, and I with some recruits?
Silbeg |
Well, I can already run Serpents Rise (it is a 4-star exclusive).
I am figuring (with all ya'll's help) that I'll be able to make 5 by October!
So, if any of you wish to come to Minneapolis at that time (I'll know exactly when closer to that date), you are welcome to join in on my 150th table! (FYI - I am planning on running The Stranger Within (5-9), which is probably my favorite scenario to date).
Now, to quickly check out the guide.
PapaSteve's Wayfinder Alias |
Yes! That means I can use Cyrus for the whole con, and I am pumped about that. Not that I don't enjoy playing pooka....

Dude. So tempted for Minneapolis. Should have a character in that level range, too! May be tricky to swing it with all I've done this year. Do let me know, though!
GenCon is so soon I have butterflies of excitement.
... and YAY for the slow track improvements! Thank you Mike Brock for that!
Also a big, big +1 to the "yays" for being able to pool prestige for a rez (definitely new, BTW). Not sure if I'd do it at the local game store (but probably would unless the guy was a douche-bag in a denim suit with curly hair, for example), but I would definitely do it to save any one of your characters. Love the teamwork aspect that decision allows... and also that you don't have to worry too much about higher level scenarios or saving up all your prestige.
Ryan's character is level 6.1. We are considering making him level 7, as he has a spare GM chronicle from Carrion Crown that would take him through to 7.1. He'd then slow track. I think he'll probably stay at 6, though.
As for PbP gameday, I'd even consider using my replay credit to be a part of that. Unfortunately, though, I will only have one spare replay credit (thanks to Scars of the Third Crusade and my own idiocy) and couldn't then play both. Probably best if I don't do any more PbP than I already am, too.
Finally, sorry for my slight absence from the boards. Ryan's staying with me at the moment, and time for posting has been very few and far between. Just as well Jack's hit the pause button on the Slayers for now. Phew!
Silbeg |
Also a big, big +1 to the "yays" for being able to pool prestige for a rez (definitely new, BTW).
Wait, what?
I read this on page 27
Player characters may not pool Prestige Points to obtain more expensive boons or services, even if they are members of the same faction. As a general rule, Prestige Points are designed to be spent by characters on themselves.
This seems pretty clear that you cannot do that.
I think the confusion is in the section on paying for spellcasting services, but it does not say you can donate PP... only gold.
Papasteve08 |
I unfortunately read the same thing, no pooling PP. Seems counter-intuitive. Why shouldn't I be able to cash in a favor with my scarab sage faction to help a friend? But I digress - I am happy they made the slow track rule make sense.
This will also make getting to exactly 33 a bit easier when it comes to the "seeker arc" story lines.
I want to leave for Gen Con now. But I can't. Only 2 more days.
So here is a question - If we have played both of those scenarios during gencon, does that mean we cannot participate in the pbp gameday? I seem to remember every scenario we played last year gave us a chance to roll for the boon...
In response to John above, I will seriously consider GM'ing a PbP game. Eventually the itch to try it will get stronger than my apprehension. I would definitely feel more comfortable running a scenario I have already played in also.
Papasteve08 |
I may or may not be in full Gen-Con-gaming-delerium mode. Or I may just be sick.
Anyways, I have a strong urge to get more characters leveled up, and play more of these concepts that sound like fun.
In otherword, I might not be able to resist the urge to play in more than 1 or 2 pbps....
So post Gen Con we will be:
- Continuing RoW for the forseeable future (Through completion of book 6, then possibly on to another AP?)
- Playing the Slayers into BoneKeep?
- Mixing in Drongos when someone else wants to GM other scenarios
I started checking DM Kludde's thread again - but if anyone gets in another game that needs a player to help fill the table out, let me know. I will be careful not to overload myself, but I am itching to get some exp/scenarios for some of my "alts". I would like to have a bigger spread of available characters for different tiers - and I just want to play some of these other concepts that I have in my head.
TheBobJones |
Steve, I have been thinking too.
Slayers - Jack has them covered
RoW - Damien has that covered
Drongons - Rotating works well, Jyri and I can handle it with the occasional guest GM sub in.
So our 1 year anniversary is quickly approaching. The drongos have essentially gone from Level 1 to 8 in 12 months. We have between 6-9 months left for them before the Seeker arc.
Damiaen had the idea a while back to create new toons, and start them with the Conformation.
I think that is a great idea, and maybe Steve wants to GM that since he has played that before. It would be level 1s and we can play all the lower tier season 6 we missed, or new Season 7s. If it gets too time consuming, I know some people we trying to pull back the PbP time, we could switch back between the Drongos, and the baby Drongos.
I know that 3-5 games is my sweet spot, 3 if I am GMing, 5 if I am playing.
Papasteve08 |
I knew it was a keep of some sort...
If that is the plan for the Slayers then we don't need to mess with it.
I almost forgot about the Occult pregen scenario, so the list is actually:
- ROW with the Misfits (GM Damo)
- Thornkeep with the Slayers (GM Silbeg)
- Haunting with Occult Pregens (GM BobJones)
After Haunting - we can continue into season 7 with the Drongos and a rotating GM Chair. Which I may take a turn at. Probably.
After Thornkeep the slayers move on to high level stuff and the season 4 arc.
So unless a smattering of us want to take on a 4th game (I know not everyone can/wants to) then I will look for a game, probably with GM Kludde to level up Pooka and some of my other unused level 1 toons.
Have I mentioned I am bordering on unhealthy excitement for Gen Con? I think I have a fevah. [christopher walkin voice]

I would prefer Cyrus over Jaender, however... I want to do whatever path gets Cyrus to the highest level before being forced into retirement... I'll go along with the group, but that's my 2 copper

Ok, so I have really been trying to dig into what kinds of options are available to "seekers" . From what I can find, there are two official "seeker arcs".
Eyes of the ten - series of pfs scenarios that you must start at exactly 33 xp (12th level) that takes you to 13.2
Wardens of the reborn forge - actually part of sanctioned content (from iron gods ap? Have to confirm) that you can start between 33 and 35.5 (as long as you are level 12) and takes you to level 16.
This one is a little tricky as it is sanctioned content, so technically you could pay eyes of the ten as a seeker arc, then play the sanctioned portion, but you wouldn't get the 4th "seeker" chronicle. This way you would still end up at 16.2 .
Them there are several sanctioned modules for different levels, even a level 17 module that has a chronicle sheet.
My preference is to use the drongos for eyes of the ten, and then we can decide if we want to push those characters into the upper reaches of high level content.
I hope at some point they come up with another seeker arc in the same vein as eyes of the ten, but only time will tell there.

Ok - sorry for the thread blast everyone!!!
Just wanted to clarify some things -
If it isn't obvious, my intention here is to see just how high of a level I can get Cyrus to. The more I think about it, the more it doesn't matter to me if it is that character that goes through eyes of the ten.
The one thing that I will make note of, is I am simply not having fun with Jaender. I would prefer to shelve that character in favor of something/someone different. If we want to take the slayers through eyes of the ten, then I would just humbly request the opportunity to work towards getting a "replacement" character to the appropriate level. I am totally cool with the slayers going through that with that one teensy condition on my part. If that is what we want to do as a group, then I will take the responsibility of finding a way to get a character to the proper level as quickly as possible in order to build a repertoire with the group before that epic campaign.
With that said, Wardens of the Reborn Forge (confirmed it is just a module, not part of an AP) could be a fun alternative for whatever group doesn't do eyes of the ten.
Just some thoughts to throw out for things that might not happen for a year or two, but I am most curious to hear others thoughts!
PapaSteve's Wayfinder Alias |
That is an awesome thought that I really appreciate John :)
I actually thought about Pooka, but I was a little concerned I would make the party to melee heavy. He is the closest in level, only being a couple of exp behind, so that would be the easiest.
What does everyone else think?
-Posted with Wayfinder
Silbeg |
Wardens is a large module in and of itself. I am expecting to play it in the near future (well, within the year, I expect), with my gunslinger who went through Eyes.
@Steve -- if you are tired of Jaender, maybe we can talk about some possibilities -- or, swap out someone you'd prefer. The group is pretty strong, though there may be times that not having Jaender's offensive fire would be difficult, but not impossible.
Pooka would be an interesting addition - but I think that Vox would want to focus more on archery with him in the group.
Totally up to you, though.
However, in the end, I think that the Drongos would fare better through Eyes of the Ten. That being said, either group would likely do ok, especially since there are six of you (and the scenarios were technically written for 4 players -- but no big deal)
Silbeg |
Oh, FYI - you should totally assign your True Dragon chronicle to Pooka, then (it is 3-5) -- as well as your We Be Goblins, Free (also 3-5) (I think that's what I was going to run next, to be honest!).
If you do that, then Pooka should be at 4th after that, and ready to go onwards in Thornkeep!
Damien Wilmann |
Pooka is a cool idea. Alternatively, if you and Chris have desires on Google+ Hangouts, it'll only take 3-4 nights to get you up to level if we do modules. I'd be happy to oblige... assuming I still like you folks post GenCon! ;-) Oh, and not sure where your Reign of Winter Chronicle went, but there's a level in and of itself. You could also play a pregens for the next few sessions, and for the pregen scenarios Jack mentioned, in order to get yourself up to 4th in the meantime, and then stack on the chronicles when you ding 3rd/4th.
PapaSteve's Wayfinder Alias |
Thanks Damien! That would be awesome too! I love this group, you guys are great. My reign of winter chronicle went to a character called hrothgar, who is a character concept I would definitely like to try, but he presents the same problem as pooka, he is a primary melee character. The way he does it would actually step on strong brute's toes too - hrothgar is my barbalchemist - a barbarian who uses the powers of alchemy to build strength every way and any way possible. I would play him as a character with autistic tendencies for a little quirky flavor. The mechanics of it would be level 1 barbarian, then several levels of alchemist, which would give him some arcane utility, but his primary damage output would come from the fact that at barb1-alch2 I can get him to 30 strength when everything is stacked. He hits hard... (which is why he would be stepping on string brutes toes) I am going to think long and hard over gen con to see what else I can come up with. One thing that has been made very clear to me with this group is that the mechanics of a class play a small role in ongoing enjoyment of a character, compared to the story that we are writing together. I was intrigued by jaender for the mechanics of spellcasting (always loved wizards) but never found a story to tell with him. Once I find my story, I'll find a character I love. (this is why I love Cyrus and ishbaad so much...)
