Bron Frostbreath |

With eyes on fire, Bron turns to his closest event: the dragon.
All his muscles in tension, his nerves burning, his skin aching, he tried to get through its defended and strike to make it worth.
AoO, I guess, as he moves to S13. Swift: Arcane Strike.
Longsword, Haste, Bless, Reckless Abandon, Power Attack: 1d20 + 15 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 15 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 29
Damage, 2h, Power Attack, Arcane Strike: 1d8 + 11 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 6 + 2 = 21
AC this turn: 13

GM the Fifth |

Drakes are basically a degenerate dragon, with each type of drake being a cousin of sorts to a true dragon of a specific color. Flame drakes are related to reds. All drakes have the dragon type, and flame drakes have the fire subtype.
Drakes are known for being bullies. They have a nasty disposition, and flame drakes are related to reds which makes them even more ill-tempered.
One thing all drakes have in common: they can boost their speed a limited number of times per day. In terms of game mechanics, this means taking an additional move action during that round.

Darya Flamekissed |

As focused as she is on the Beast of Drezden, Darya doesn't notice the Wyvern and the fireball until the last moment, saved from the worst of the damage by a combination of divine and arcane protections.
Reflex Save/Nature’s song/Power of Faith/Angelic Bond/Haste: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 2 + 2 + 3 + 1 = 17
Flames still flickering around her, Darya races toward the mighty beast, Radiance flashing up in a golden blur, driven by divine fury.
Radiance/Charge/Power of Faith/Bless/Haste/Smite: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 13 + 2 + 2 + 3 + 1 = 36
Slashing/ Smite/Magic/Bless: 1d8 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 15 + 1 = 20
Charge right between Alexa and Arloric

GM the Fifth |

Drake, AoO, bite vs Bron: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
vs 6 mirror images (high roll hits): 1d7 ⇒ 1
Bron rushes the low-flying drake. It snaps at him with it's teeth as he approaches, but the shifting mirror images confuse it and Bron is unhurt. One of his images vanishes as the drake's jaws close around it.
Now close enough to strike, Bron swings with his longsword and cuts into the drake in response, leaving it very visibly injured.
Darya charges in between Arloric and Alexa and brings Radiance to bare. She cuts into the chimera, and with the holy power of Ragathiel behind her strike, she slices into it.
Will continue once I get Alexa's saving throw.

Rolling Alexa's saving throw.
Alexa, Refl Save: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
Alexa deftly dodges the flames, and emerges unscathed.
The Beast of Drezen focuses it's dragon and leopard eyes on Darya, as though this were the moment it's been waiting for the most. Both heads bare their teeth and strike at the Paladin.
Bite #1 vs Darya, (FlatAC): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32
Bite damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (3, 4) + 5 = 12
Bite #2 vs Darya, (FlatAC): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
It then follows up with it's ram head, trying to impale her on its horns.
Gore attack vs Darya: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22
I don't believe this hits, even with the penalty from charging, correct? But just in case...
gore damage?: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Finally, claws lash at both Alexa and Arloric.
Claw vs Alexa: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Claw vs Arloric: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
I think this enough to hit Arloric. Please confirm.
claw damage vs Arloric: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
It then steps west, along the front of a small tenement building.

GM the Fifth |

Why would I be flatfooted? (not that is makes much of a difference, I'd lose the +1 from haste. Current AC 28 (26 AFTER CHARGING)
This is an extraordinary ability of the creature. If you are targeted by both of its bite attacks, you are considered flat-footed against those attacks.
Does the drake threaten with reach?
Yes, it has a 10' reach. I indicate threatened squares on the map with auras (red for foes, blue for allies).

Arloric Dziergas-Highbough |

Assuming +1 Leather, yes, that's a hit.
Arloric keeps the song going and lets the power of land, faith, magic and...something more?...empower him as he attempts to strike down this destined foe!
Masterwork Cold Iron Scimitar (Haste, Bless, Power of Faith): 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 181d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Crit Sneak Attack Damage: 2d6 + 4 + 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 4 + (6, 5, 2, 6) = 33

GM the Fifth |

Arloric swings at the chimera twice, but neither blow lands.
Alexa attempts to nimbly dash past it, but the creature is too fast for her and the dragon head snaps at her with its teeth, stopping her in her tracks.
Beast of Drezen, AoO vs Alexa, bite attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
bite damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 1) + 5 = 11
Alexa, your movement is halted at W19 so there are no flanking bonuses and no sneak attack damage.
Alexa strikes back, however, and slashes into the beast twice.
You can tell that there's some sort of damage reduction in play here, as the first blow should have done something, but it didn't even leave a mark. The second one definitely hurt it, but not as much as it should have.
Kemat, you are up.

The drake is looking pretty beat up. The Beast of Drezen looks rough, but it has been soaking up punishment.
Telerin sends an arrow of icy cold into the drake, guessing correctly that it is vulnerable to the extreme chill. The arrow strikes true, and leaves an outsized wound for its size. The scales around its injury frost over from the lingering cold.

GM the Fifth |

Bron tears into the drake and it collapses, dead, under the assault.
Darya presses the fight against the Beast of Drezen, delivering two savage blows. Amazingly, the chimera survives this onslaught, though it is looking far less confident now than it was at the beginning of the fight.
It steps back, wary of being out maneuvered, and swings its dragon head around. It breathes out another blast of wintry, icy air, engulfing Alexa, Arloric, Darya, and Kemat.
I need a DC19 Refl save for half damage from Alexa, Arloric, Darya, and Kemat. Note that there is both cold and piercing damage. The save applies to both, but your energy resistance only applies to the former.

Kemat, Refl save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Does that damage take me down?
You have Resistance 20 on cold so the damage is only 23 total. You are fine, but it's close. I show you at 10 hp. Kemat is in worse shape at 5 hp, but still standing.

Darya Flamekissed |

Fully engaged in the heat of battle, Dary shifts her body, getting her shield up moments before the icy blast, her accelerated movement, coupled with her companions' magical protections and her own innate resilience allowing her to effortlessly shrug off the breath attack, a few stray shards leaving scratches on her skin and one across her cheek that she barely notices.

GM the Fifth |

Alexa moves in on the heavily wounded chimera, and sinks her blade into a weak spot. The Beast of Drezen barely has time to howl in surprise before it stiffens, then falls to the ground dead.
This is followed by a blinding flash of golden light.
When the vision and the light fades, you are lying on the ground.
When the vision and the light fades, you are lying on the ground.
You shield your eyes from the light. When it fades, you see that Bron and Kemat are lying on the ground. They are both conscious, but clearly disoriented.
Welcome to mythic tier 2. For Bron and Kemat, welcome to mythic status and also mythic tier 2. I'll send out more details later today.

Alexa Dorne |

Alexa covers her eyes when the blinding light flashes through the area, then looks between the newcomers and the dead Beast of Drezen.
She raises her gladius and lets out an inarticulate howl of triumph and bloodlust, her eyes blazing with adrenaline-fuelled wrath.

Arloric Dziergas-Highbough |

Arloric raises his own sword and yells in celebration with Alexa. Then he catches his breath for a moment and grins at her.
"Alright...alright, YOU'RE gonna wear this monster's pelt for a cloak!"

Alexa Dorne |

The aasimar scout wobbles a bit on her feet as the adrenaline starts to wear off. "Split it... split it with Darya. She did most of... the work." She gasps, her lungs and limbs aching with exertion.

Darya Flamekissed |

Standing toe to toe with the beast, Darya looks up past her shield just in time to se her paramour dodge the blast of cold with dizzying skill, to strike a lethal blow from behind the mighty beast.
She manages to close her eyes before the brilliant burst of energy, opening them to the glorious sight of Alexa roaring triumphantly, an image that would stick with her forever.
Grinning ear to ear, she walks over to Alexa, slinging her shield over her back as she slips an arm around her waist in support. "Heh, that'll be quite a sight won't it. Amazing! The Beast of Drezen is no more!"

Bron Frostbreath |

"No! Mother!"
Bron wakes up and realises he's lying on the ground. He quickly stands up, looking everywhere, and checks the two monsters, dead and bleeding.
"Wow! You guys did it!" His voice sounds deeper, louder somehow, even if the volume is the same. He feels powerful, capable of almost anything.
It's probably the hype of having survived the Beast of Drezen and son!

Alexa Dorne |

Alexa leans on Darya as she puts an arm around her waist.
And she doesn't stop there--she leans in and steals a passionate kiss from her lips before looking back at the battlefield.
She doesn't say anything else; she just enjoys the warmth of her beloved's presence.

Darya Flamekissed |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |

Darya returns the kiss with equal passion, savoring a moment far sweeter than the thrill of victory or the satisfaction of defeating a dangerous enemy.
Letting out a soft sigh, she smiles as they look over the aftermath of the battle.

GM the Fifth |

You become aware of a crowd forming at a distance, and can hear murmuring among townsfolk. You turn to see a few of them pointing to the chimera that lies dead next to the tenement building.
In the distance, you hear hoofbeats. The crowd parts as Sosiel races up to you on horseback. He brings it to a stop 10 feet away and then dismounts, his eyes wide and his mouth gaping as he stares at the Beast of Drezen.
"You killed it. I was racing here to see if you were OK or needed support and...you already killed it." He mutters a small prayer to Shelyn, then adds. "A drake hit the command tent. General Tirabade is OK, but we lost four soldiers before she and Nurah helped bring it down. We saw a third drake descend on the warehouses where the rescue effort was under way. Aron and Anevia are headed that way now for a report. I don't see it in the air, so I am encouraged, but..."

Darya Flamekissed |

"Then we should head there next!" Darya says, with a sigh, acknowledging that in war the time for celebration would only come after all enemies were vanquished.
"Have a few soldiers see what we can do about any damage the battle caused to the area or any homes...and have a few of our hunters skin the beast if they can be spared." she finishes with a slight grin, before regaining an expression of focus.
Giving Alexa's side a squeeze she flashes her a loving smile. "We'll have to finish celebrating later."

GM the Fifth |

During the lull before Sosiel arrives, Kemat casts Cure Critical Wounds on herself, Cure Serious Wounds on Arloric, then follows up with a channel energy once you are all gathered together.
CCW, Kemat: 4d8 + 7 ⇒ (2, 5, 3, 3) + 7 = 20
CSW, Arloric: 3d8 + 7 ⇒ (3, 4, 1) + 7 = 15
Channel +energy: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 3, 5) = 15
She then uses her Incredible Healer feat on Arloric and herself
Heal (Treat Deadly Wounds, Incredible Healer), Kemat: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Heal (Treat Deadly Wounds, Incredible Healer), Arloric: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
In Arloric's case, the Heal check result heals more than the treat deadly wounds skill check alone would do. Kemat doesn't make the DC20 check for herself however.

Bron Frostbreath |

Knowing they're needed, Bron braces himself and gets ready to go. After all, it's only a flesh wound. However, Kemat quickly fixes it anyway.
"Thank you. I'm perfect now, ready to roll."
